Live from the Outback: UGA should win this bloomin’ bowl

Tampa – The nice thing about covering the Outback Bowl is the sponsor. It’s the only bowl that serves steak and a bloomin’ onion as a pregame meal. I mention this so you’ll know not to expect much in the way of back-and-forth from this correspondent over the next half-hour.
As for the game … well, here’s what you need to know about Michigan State. The Spartans are 7-14 in bowls. They haven’t won won since Dec. 31, 2001. They’re 0-4 under Mark Dantonio. Even Nick Saban was 0-3 in bowls as MSU’s coach.
The Spartans are 0-3 in bowls against teams from Georgia. (Lost to the Bulldogs in Vince Dooley’s final game and in the Capital One in 2008, lost to Georgia Tech in the old Hall of Fame Bowl in Birmingham in 1985. Georgia fans will remember that as the game in which John Dewberry, who transferred from UGA and became Tech’s quarterback, did not partake — he’d been suspended for missing curfew in Birmingham, which isn’t easy to do.)
It’s possible Michigan State could win today, but recent history shows it’s not smart to bet against the SEC in a bowl against the Big Ten. (Example: The Spartans lost to Alabama 49-7 in the Capital One last January. Though Michigan State did beat Florida in the Citrus on the first day of this century.)
Enough. Georgia should win. I make it 27-17, but I’m often wrong. Sometimes even bloomin’ wrong, which reminds me …

Whatta game..
The Defense plays a lights out game till 1:55 in the game..
The Offence, led by very inconsistant A Murray, cannot tie their shoes or get one first down to milk the clock.. Mr. Murray once again loses a fumble & throws a pic six… Booooboooo is the worse OC in the SEC.. I have an idea, let’s run the ball up the middle….. Or let’s keep Murray in the pocket & throw from there?!?!??!
Boynkin is the best CB ever.. The most dynamic defensive baller since Champ Bailey.. A DGD for life..
The D deserved Better!!!

What cracks me up is how all these uga bashers on here crowing how their team has beaten a big ten team, and uga lost. Oh, the embaressment of it all. But I seem to recall throughout the season, these same haters claimed UGA was going to lose to Tenn, Ole Miss, Miss St, Florida, Ky, Auburn etc. When UGA wins, those teams were not good anyway.
All of a sudden a couple of these teams win a forgettable bowl game against unranked lower level teams and all of sudden it legitimatizes the whole 6-6 season. I’d hate to tell you folks, MSU is not a lower level Big Ten team. In fact, they’re better than any team in the SEC East, including USC plus they’re better than most in the West, including Auburn. So get over it folks. If UGA loses in OT, you all get blown out!

I am not in charge in hiring or firing coaches, recruiting players, or calling plays. Neither is any other troll on this page (especially flat tire). So go on an be whiney down-in-the-mouth beeotches. I am going to continue to pull for the Dawgs as I have done my whole life. Beeotching and whining about Richt and Bobo is not going to have any effect except pissing off my wife and scaring my dog.
I rather be a happy fan than a sore loser! Congrats to MSU. They played a great game.
I salute the Dawgs that played hard today against a good team! Have another solid offseason like last summer! It will pay dividends in 2012.

For all of you calling for bobo to be fired. GET THIS! CMR likes Bobo, he thinks he is a good OC. Bobo has been horrible since day one. Everyone knows this except CMR! CMR needs to be fired. He can not assess the talent of his players or coaches. Murray should not be blamed, he has incompetent coaches telling him what to do.

I wonder why CMR would get rid of a DC that was not creative and predictable and not an OC that is the same? Bobo has had the job for 6 seasons and I have seen no improvement in the offense. It was better when Richt was the OC and Calloway had the title.

Exactly right on the FG attempt. Lost a couple yards taking the knee. Should have tried to drive the ball in, run, pass whatever. ONLY turn to Walsh if you can’t get a first down and the drive stalls. He’s been horrible all year. What made Richt think he could make one with the game on the line?? Terrible decision to just give up the drive and just kick it. Worst call of Richt’s career.

REgarding kicking a field goal on 3rd down. CMR is sending a clear message to his offense that he has zero confidence in them. He is so panicked that he is afraid that his team will fumble or throw an interception. He is weak and a poor leader.

Just for giggles, I went back through the comments and read some of you blow hards running off at the mouth at how great UGA is, and how they should end up in the top 10 when you were winning 16-0. Even Mark Bradley commented that he didn’t think MSU could score 16 points. One idiot said the game was over. I thought you would have learned from the LSU game to zip it until the game is over. Stupid dawgs will never learn. Enjoy the off season. Too bad you dropped Alabama from your schedule. Hate seeing you guys go though an entire season, only to realize at the end that you really are not that good. BooHoo dawg fans!

This is the way it will be as long as bowden richt is head coach….i/ve said it ever since I watch him coach as a head coach……….good #2 man…over his head as #1 man. Think back to all the mistakes he made early in his head coaching career. chaulked up to inexperience …. what about now?? look how long he stuck with wee willie…had to be forced to make a change…what about boo boo..do we see a pattern here?
