Ladies and gents, that's a darn strong football team. (AJC photo by Brant Sanderlin)
After the Arkansas game, Lenn Robbins of the New York Post asked LSU coach Les Miles if he believed his team might be the greatest in collegiate football history. Eight days later, the Tigers laid sole claim to another superlative:
Worst first half ever authored by the offense of a team this great.
How bad was it? Well, LSU tied a record that can never be broken — fewest first downs in the first two quarters. And this goose egg wasn’t laid by Podunk State against Almighty A&M. This was the championship game of the nation’s best conference, and this monstrosity had been concocted by a team considered the nation’s finest by such a distance it was believed LSU could lose to Georgia and still play for the BCS title. But would an aggregation that couldn’t manage one crummy first down on such a stage deserve a mulligan?
First-half numbers: LSU had 12 total yards, 123 fewer than Georgia, and had completed two passes, one of them underhanded. It trailed 10-0 after one quarter and was still 10 points down six minutes before half. And was the man beneath the white hat concerned?
“That defense,” said Miles, speaking of his own,” and the way it was defending — when they got 10, I thought that would be it [for Georgia]. Quite frankly, we just needed to get it started offensively.”
To Miles’ other attributes — darn good coach, intriguing wordsmith, eater of grass — we can now add “ace prognosticator.” Georgia didn’t score again. LSU started scoring on Tyrann Mathieu’s punt return and never stopped. And we on the periphery can only stand back and wonder: If the Tigers can go an entire first half without benefit of an offense against a opponent of quality, might this be one of the finest teams ever assembled?
What transpired Saturday night beneath the Georgia Dome was truly breathtaking, and I mean that literally: You could see the air — and the life — sucked from the buoyant Bulldogs. Georgia started bold and fast and smart and, if not for two dropped touchdown passes and a missed field goal, would have had a lead so big even Miles would have blanched. But then the Honey Badger started running back kicks and John Chavis’ defense threw a hammerlock on the Bulldog offense, and midway through the third quarter a game that was nearly a runaway one way had gone the other.
Of Mathieu, the eloquent Miles said: “He really is the ‘Honey Badger.’ He takes what he wants. He takes what he gets his hands on.”
Which pretty much describes the Tigers in toto. Down 14-0 against Arkansas, they won 41-17. Down 10-0 against Georgia, they won 42-10. Nobody doubted that this was the nation’s best team before the past two weekends, but now there’s no doubt.
Miles: “Never are they out of it. Never was there any question that they would get their feet, get their bearings and compete.”
This doesn’t mean that this demonstrably superb team will win the national championship. The Tigers will almost surely have to play Alabama again, and how would you like to have your road to the BCS title blocked by a bunch coached by Nick Saban that you had to move heaven and Earth to beat the first time? We can argue forever the fairness of that, but Les Miles wasn’t really in the mood Saturday.
“It’s a tremendous conference top to bottom,” he said. “[Alabama has] a great team. We’ll look forward to competing against them. But I’m going to enjoy this night first.”
And why not? After a unbeaten regular season that closed with come-from-behind comprehensive routs against Top 15 opposition, why should Miles or the Honey Badger or any Tiger fear man or Saban? Tell the truth: When last did you see a team this powerful, this fast, this unyielding?
“That second half, we basically got it going,” Mile said. Then this: “This is a quality group. It’s a great team.”

Two other things:
First.
Also, LSU played and beat eight teams this season that were ranked at the time, most in absolute blowout fashion. They’re deservingly the best team of the season, and may be the best I’ve seen since Nebraska in the mid-90s.

Just being there was a great feat for these DAWGS….however I am not sold on Crowell and BOBO just flat has to go. They had no offense the entire 3rd quarter. I am not one for conspiracies….but it looked like someone was threatened to lose that game or throw the game. Remember the Quincy Carter debacle vs SC. This game was eerily similar….because they laid a goose egg the second half….IMO

A tale of two half’s.
First half, 5 missed opportunities, at least 6 clipping or holding penalties on LSU not called including 2 on phantom LSU touchdown on a touchdown that should have been reversed.
Second half, first two plays of first three offenses series we operate under center, something LSU ate alive in first half and more so in second. Offensively and defensively, players and coaches lost focus and intensity.
Best team won but……………….what a first half defense and what might have been.
Hopefully recruits see we have a lot holes but there is hope we didn’t see this time a year ago. We still need to take care of our bowl game unlike last year.

Good game by Coach Grantham. UGA defense gave it their all. Bobo came out calling great plays to keep LSU off balance but strayed away from it to establish an injured run game against the BEST DEFENSE in the nation (STUPID decision….Bobo should finally be let go), poor UGA receiver play, and inconsistent calls from the refs are all factors that decided that LSU would play in the National Championship. In terms of the Mathieu play, the ball never crossed the goal line and I thought it should have been ruled a fumble out of the endzone resulting in a touchback. Nevertheless, great coaching adjustments by LSU in the 2nd half and they are CLEARLY the #1 team and much luck to you guys in the rematch against Bama. GO DAWGS!!!!! (Richt deserves an extension!)

I’m no LSU fan but those that support the BCS like to say that the current system makes the regular season a playoff. If that’s true, then it makes no sense that LSU would have to beat Alabama again. Doesn’t matter if Alabama is the second best team or not. They’ve already eliminated Alabama in the regular season playoff. They should now get Ok. State, or Va Tech or someone. I am not a Bobo fan, but what did you want today? There were nine dropped passes – nine! That cost Georgia the game, plain and simple. The game plan was fine we had dropped passes….
We played toe to toe with the best team in the country for the first half……
We have no depth at running back you can’t call a game with no threat of a running game.

Great first half by Georgia but not enough depth on Dog squad to stand up to LSU in second half, Georgia’s defense is good but spent too much time on the field in second half while the offense was being man handled by the Tiger defense, Dropped passes by Dog recievers really hurt, Instead of going out at half leading 20-7 they only led by 10-7. Georgia has a long way to go to ever match LSU’s talent but so does everyone else except maybe Bama

The Dawgs let them gain the momentum. We left too many plays on the field and then punted to a guy that the whole LSU team looks to save their butts and he did it. We stood toe to toe with them until the second punt return. LSU is like an avalanche. Once you set them off nothing will stop them. They were stunned in the first half. But a young UGA team didn’t make the plays that were there and it came back to bite them.
Hats off to LSU. They are the most dominating college team I’ve ever seen. They play a psyche game and once you flinch they are like their namesakes… they are all over you. The Dawgs should take this as a learning experience. We have the athletes… we just need the attitude. We really needed Samuel healthy. Ken Malcomb ran hard late. I bit of muscle to keep LSU honest and it might have been different.
Always a Dawg win, lose, or draw.

It doesn’t hurt that the Dawgs lost the game tonight. It doesn’t even hurt that we got blown out. It hurts that a team that brought their C game can still blow us out by 32 points. Apart from the two dropped TD passes which would have changed the game, why did Bobo go so conservative in the second quarter and beginning the third quater? What does the coaching staff have against Ken Malcome? He runs hard every time he plays and clearly is better than Carlton Thomas. With our difficulty running the ball why not give him a shot when running the ball matters, like against Tech. I don’t know this kid but if I am him, I transfer.

LSU is gooooood. But go figure, 13 point favorite. You knew it was coming, it was shocking how bad they played in the first half but yet they scored 42 unanswered points?
And I did not see any clipping or block in the back on the punt return. yes it looks like he tossed the ball early but you know, the only players around him were LSU. You can’t cry over that play given the fact he was just handing the ball to the ref. Where were the UGA players? It looked on tv like they only had 5 players on the field?
BUT 42 unanswered points most all in the second half? I think LSU bought into its own hype and came out flat and not ready but eventually after UGA had thrown the kitchen sink at them they got beat down.
Interesting game. Do not believe Alabama should be in the national championship given they lost at home. I say VT or Ok St. I mean what happened to “the regular season is the playoff in college…”
And that QB from Baylor… should win the Heisman. I’m sure he’s done more with less than Luck and Richardson.

It was a good season and i think we are the 3rd best team in the SEC. It is Nice to be in the dome playing for the SEC. After all UGA played the schedule the SEC office gave them to play.
On today’s game a few points. 1) we had a plan and it was working. Why did we stop. 2) Richt must have a special teams coach 3) Why do we continue to recruit 165 lbs running backs. 4) why did we not see more of Boo Malcolm all season, he was the only back that looked ready to play.
My only real problem about losing to a great team … the defense quit on us. Quit in a championship game on national television. Quit with there mama’s and there girl friends watching. Our boys got punched in the nose and they quit. To be honest Boise St did the same thing in a similar second half.

Georgia had them worried folks. Believe me, No 1st. downs in the 1st half says alot about our defense. The one deciding point was when Murray turned the ball over to LSU at the Georgia 20. That changed the whole entire game.
Each team was waiting for something to happen to gain momentum and sure enough its Murray again! Twinkle toes cant hold onto the ball. I said yesterday that if Georgia had more turnovers they’d lose.
You cannot give a No.#1 team 21 pts. on the board and expect to win the game.
LSU feeds off turnovers and special teams play.
LSU found their mojo but wouldve won anyway. Cant drop passes, be penalized more, be thin at running back and expect to compete with those guys.
Georgia you had it but didnt capitalize on it. You kept letting them back into the game when you shouldve clearly been ahead 24-7.
Great teams find ways to win and so they did.
LSU is not the best team since Nebraska in the 90’s. They deserve to be No.#1 cause theyre undefeated.
Great teams are dominant from start to finish not LSU.
We gave them a scare and now Alabama will give them a heart attack.

Bobo might have gone soft but it didn’t matter. Like someone said, LSU’s defense didn’t need to sit on the sideline to get better but play, once they did it was lights out. I told someone it was GAME when LSU returned the punt. They were just shaking the cob webs off.
Heck, Miles so much as admitted some of the players were looking beyond this game. So with players given it their second rate performance UGA was only up 10-0 and lost 42-10.

I don’t think LSU was worried. They just went through the motions waiting to get going. They remind me of Auburn last year, you could take a lead and they shrugged it off and in the end would come right back and win it all. I mean lasts years SEC championship was close until cam through a hail marry on the last play of the game and that ended 56-17.
I’d say it was more like LSU was confident… and annoyed. And i think, they were looking past UGA. Just a hunch.

Well boys, this week, welcome to the SEC! Trash talk LSU about your greatness and you’re ready for the national stage. Well, I had said that UGA would lose, and it would be because of turnovers. I didn’t mention 2 punt returns. But really, outside of that 93 yard drive on 5 rushes for LSU, our D played great. You can’t give up 14 points on a punt return and a pick 6, then give them great field position with two other TO’s and another punt return.
LSU is a great team, I give them that. Brutal D. And no turnovers.

Alot can be said about the game. For now, let me speak about my “nations no. 1 recruit running back”. When he had his early carries he limped off. When he had a good run he showed no trouble. When he didnt have a “you tube ” moment , he limped off,. When he got his ass knocked off in pass coverage, he limped off. I have seen all I want. Even my head coach says, ” it is a great opportunity for a running back to come to Georgia.” You can give em class shedules , tutors, meals, and whatever– you cannot coach or schedule HEART OR GUTS OR GATA. Find the kids with the “WANT TO” and lets be DAWGS and GATA. And was it just me, or did you notice him turn his head away from the head coach after his actions at sidline? Seen all I need or want to! Go Dawgs.

The only thing about “next year” is South Carolina will be that much older with Shaw and Lattimore and a great defense. Bama will be even better. LSU is deep as hell, any one of their RBs would be #1 on any team. UF, UT and AUB have some rebounding to do but all three of those teams have done something UGA has not, won a BCS national championship. They’ll recruit pretty well and honestly on offense there are going to be a lot of holes for UGA to fill. I do not think they have a running game, they have Drew Brees Lite at QB but a good defense will eat through the offensive line and force Murray to do what he did tonight- throw INTs.
I’d say it’s bleak for UGA but they’ll compete for SEC East but that ain’t saying much. It’s not much better than Conference USA in the East right now. The West is outrageous.

After an incredible effort by the defense and leaving at least 14 points on the field (well, 21 if honey badger’s fumble/toss to the ref had been correctly called), that 2nd half collapse was utterly complete and painful. Murray was forcing it, but with no running game whatsoever there was not much else to do. Those play action fakes he does so well don’t do much good once they realize we are not going to actually run it. I don’t really blame him or the play calling when we have no SEC quality backs to complete the offense. Even if we converted those opportunities it might not have been enough Special teams got us again, but its a little more understandable with that #7 returning punts. Crowell is an enigma, too brittle and a slight head case but he may still get it together his soph year. Dogs going hard after #1 running back Marshall, so hopefully he will have some competition. All that said, LSU is in a separate class — a team so good it wins with a completely mediocre qb. Kind of amazing really. But they are so physically imposing you could see us starting to quit in the 2nd half. That was disheartening, but we have a lot of talent returning and the defense will be able to dominate for a complete game against most teams — including the SEC East next year. Don’t see anyone in our division really stopping us from another SEC championship game in 2012 — maybe we will be better situated to stay with LSU or Bama then. But we better bring a legit running game.

To all my detractors. There is only one coach on the UGA campus in Athens. That guy is in charge of defense. Fights. Claws. Yells. Cries. Gets bloody. Takes up for his players. Something I have never seen Saint Mark do! Want more seasons of playing just well enough to lose close? Offer an extension. I personally thirst for more. Like wins over ranked quality teams. Any decent team can defeat patsies. Which is all that 10 game winning streak consisted of. Same delusional fans. Enjoy the next few seasons as SEC wins more national recognition. I’m not sure what future IC has with this team. He missed his pass block assignments all game and then had a really stupid penalty.CMR gave him the quick evil eye on the sideline. Right now by my count they haven’t beaten a team that finished in the top 25 since 2009. And in all of 2010 they didn’t beat a single team with a winning record. And the SEC teams they beat this year were 14-42 in SEC play. That’s bad.

I am a DAWG fan because my kids go to school there but I confess I know nothing about football. But when I see guys consistently missing passes of balls they were supposed to catch; and when I see them dropping balls that they sorta caught but fumbled them; and when I see LSU guys consistently being right alongside our receivers to drag them down, yet our guys are nowhere to be found when an LSU guy catches the ball and runs freely to get a touchdown, I know one of two things: either the players are not good or the coaching staff is not training them properly or not giving them the proper strategy to win. Maybe it’s a combination of both. And from what I have observed, we can win against lesser teams but can’t cut the mustard against stronger rated teams. I’m thinking we need a staff adjustment. Good football takes talent but it can, just like math, science and English, be learned.

Defense gave up two drives to the #1 team in the nation. UGA outgained the #1 team in the nation.
Murray is our QB. Until someone shows more heart than that kid or talent I’ll take him any day.
Our freshman receivers Mitchell and Bennett learned a lot tonight. T King you gotta step up way to many drops this year. Work hard and get better.
K. Malcome why are you in the doghouse. When in a game you run with heart and power. What are you doing off the field and at practice to not be playing? Dedicate yourself.
I. Crowell go ahead and head back to Columbus now. Like others said the ankle was fine after good runs and you showed your true colors on that penalty and all of the limping off the field. RB coach has to take the blame for the mess that 2011 RB’s were.

2) go to penn st. like the rumors have been floating around. they’d take him over mullens even though mullens is a local boy. but they’ll never fire you and they’ll pay you a lot of money for a long time.

Hats off to LSU. They made the big plays on special teams, and created the turnovers.
Bobo called a great game the first half. But for some reason they decided to go away from that and try to establish a running game. Not his fault we dropped a basket full of passes( two TDs and one interception dropped by Cummings that would have been great), but I never will understand why Bobo will go away from what is working( he has a history of doing that).

You are exactly right. Bobo is awful and the loss is on him. Yes the wr dropped passes, but the game was LOST in first half when we were backed up inside the 15 and we change to the I formation and start RUNNING the ball up the middle. The “spread” shotgun plays had been working…..and suddenly we go conservative. Ridiculous.
And kicking to #7 was the dumbest part of the whole game. Did they even watch tape of the ark game?? Kick it out of bounds!

Okay for all the Crowell bashers out there I’m just saying without him we’re not in the SEC Championship especially early on in the season most of those games could have easily gone the other way.
Now don’t get me wrong the defense has also gotten 1000x better as the season progressed but you know the offense needs to score the points.

The people that post “fire the coaches” comments are losers. Give credit to a better team. UGA had a fantastic game plan that worked for a half and went south when we gave LSU a short field in the 3rd quarter. UGA has big character issues at RB and I am confident that will be addressed in the coming weeks or after the bowl game. UGA has had a great season so far… Get after them at the Outback or Capital One. Be proud and stop blaming coaches….

Exactly. Game was lost in first half when we were backed up inside the 15 and bobo decides to get away from what had been working and run out of the I and run it up the gut. Conservative crap killed us.
Then we kick it to badger. Did they even watch the ark lsu tape? The kid changes games….kick it out of bounds!!
Sure we are young. But these players will have the same coaching staff. And they cant figure out how to win big games because they dont know what they are doing…save grantham. Will we ever overachieve? Not with this staff.
And crowell should be kicked off the team tonight. What a joke.

The ref’s were not a factor. Again, there wasn’t a UGA player near the LSU Honey Badger. He was handing off the ball and got too excited. The ref did raise his hands before he scored and that’s bad but he too saw that there wasn’t a UGA player challenging the grass within 10 yards of him.
Even if UGA had scored on all those blown catches and so forth, the game would’ve still ended 42-24 at best. I mean they scored 42 points unanswered. They ran an INT back for a touchdown. The ref’s didn’t collapse UGA’s offense and cause turnovers. Murray did that. The same Murray who got UGA to that game on passing when they had little else. I think honestly he is masking a lot of issues on that team like Tebow did for UF.

It’s kind of funny when you hear someone say, i expect to go 10-2. Really? And lose to who? Nobody. So do you think you’ll compete for the national championship? Probably not, next year for sure. And yet you don’t plan on losing to anyone this year but you won’t be in the title game? Is this Auburn 2004? I’m confused.

The Defense played the best 1st half ive seen anyone play on LSU in a long time. Way to go guys if it werent for our defense, we probably wouldnt have been in the SEC Championship game. Todd Grantham is doing a great job.
Cant say the same about our Offense. But i’ll say that our OL did great the 1st half and really until LSU went ahead 21-10. Momentum fired them up on LSU defense. WR oh my gosh the drop passes was a huge blow to the game.
Crowell, hey im not sure where his head is at right now. Tough LSU defense huh Crowell? Hey not taking nothing away from LSU Defense but Georgia is better but Boykin is a soft DB that cant tackle. Did anyone see how Boykin took the kickoff and immediately fell down when he saw 2 LSU players running toward him?
Georgia was thin at LB, Front 3, and has a weak CB Boykin but still challenged LSU. But that Murray kid runs fast but lays down if he thinks hes gonna get hit. No toughness in him or Crowell.
Murray single handedly gave that game to LSU by fumbling the ball at the 20.
That alone turned the entire game in LSU’s favor. The defense gave up, the offense quit blocking, the running backs gained a yard a carry and everything came to a stand still.
Georgia had already lost the game in their minds but the fumble gave away their hearts. Murray is no David Greene, full of spirit, determination or guts.
He loses his composure and gets confused then lays down without even being touched. Kinda like Matt Ryan does with the Falcons.
Mark Richt has got to go outside the coaches realm and bring in a special teams coach. Not a friend, not one that he played football or coached with but a AAA Special teams coach. Cost you 7 pts, and the momentum.
WR’s you get a D for effort, drop passes, wrong routes and running scared. RB’;s get an F, too timid, missing blocking assignments and no yardage.
QB gets a C, interception, fumble, and not getting his team up. Offensive Coach gets an F, which is the case when they play a top 25 team. Bobo just plainly stinks.
Defense gets an A-, sensational 1st half, 2nd half bad tackling and giving up! To let a LSU team score over 40 pts is unacceptable. Damn Georgia you made LSU look good in the 2nd half. Read the headlines Georgia blown out!
Take some pride in all your accomplishments, even if Murray cant play. You were that good in the 1st half and i know you were gonna be better in the 2nd half, but you gave up! Murray and the offense put you into another bad situation, but still you gotta rise up and keep going.
Its not your fault that Georgia has a sorry Offensive Coordinator, a freshman back that gets hang nails, and a QB thats afraid of getting hit.
Honestly i thought that our Defense would get a fumble or interception and turn momentum back around. You gave up way too early D-Dawgs.

You morons on herre are blaming Bobo and Murray for this loss? Really? Did you watch the game? We had to play nearly perfect to win this game, and when you drop 2 TD passes, 6-7 balls, and make mistake after crucial mistake, what did you expect. Our defense played its best half of football perhaps ever, but just couldn’t overcome the mistakes we made in the 2nd half. And then momentum kicked in and it was over. It also didn’t help that we had no real tailbacks. Made us entirely predictable. I hope all the great RB recruits watched that game and realize now just how big an impact they could have.

Georgia’s record made them look better than they really were…they only beat 2 teams with a winning record – Auburn and Tech (3 teams if you count Coastal Carolina). The combined record of the teams they beat was 56-63 (this winning % greatly helped by CC). UGA was only 2 -3 against teams with a winning record. Big improvement over last year but still have a ways to go before being considered a top tier team.

JB, I’ve been a Dawg fan since ‘76. I don’t know the Malcome’s but I hope he transfers. I’ve never seen Malcome practice but I’ve seen him play this year and clearly he is better than Thomas, Harton, Samuel, and surely tougher than Crowell. I don’t know what the coaching staff has against him but he can play and should go somewhere else so he can play. Love Richt, but he may have missed an opportunity for Malcome to bolster running game. Dawgs, if you remember, he did a similar thing with Verron Haynes- did not play tail back until the last 3 games of the season. Coming from 6-7 last year, this has been a great year. Recruit well again and go at it next year.

Georgia folks hold your head up. I was watching the first half of that game & yall dominated on both sides. I think the biggest problem yall had were the injuries to your tailbacks. You know in general I love how fair weathered all you jackwagons are. For the guys that posted the positive stuff awesome. The coaches dont go out and catch the passes, and the quarterback cant keep the pass rush honest without a running game. Georgia came out and did what they could with what they had, the defense held them out the entire first half, with exception to the punt return. That being said our defense was getting left in longer and longer and longer, while our offense put them in worse positions. As good as our defense is, it could hang that long. We need more running backs over 200 pounds, and we need them next season. Aaron murray did the best with what little time he was afforded, and for all the rest of you asshats you try and run an offense against LSU, I doubt any of you even appreciate how hard it is to put points on them, or keep them from scoring.

They stomped us royally last weekend. They played a great 1st half but did not play a perfect game (too many dropped passes, missed field goal, missed interception) & to compete with LSU you HAVE to play a PERFECT game. LSU is just on another level of any team in the FBS short of Alabama.

Secondly anyone who says aaron murray is afraid of getting hit is just plain stupid. The kid has taken insane risks and the play he fumbled on he was taking the only shot he had to get a first down. The kid has gotten abused all season and the smartest thing he could do on a couple of plays was drop and not risk getting the ball knocked out on a sack. Sometimes when your a quarterback and your going to get sacked its better to drop lose the yards and keep your head attached to you to throw another down. Man alive it’s like you guys like watching him take murder hits. I can tell none of you ever played quarterback either, those guys want you out of the game when they hit you.

Any Division would be weak if you pit it against the SEC west. LSU has better coaches than Georgia does. Todd Grantham holds his own. Les Miles is very similar to Nick Saban of Alabama. They devote most all their time to football where Mark Richt doesnt because he believes in spending time with families are just as important.
His passion isnt as deep and demanding as the Sabans and Miles of the world. Just look at LSU and Alabamas recruiting. They cover alot more area than Georgias staff, infact almost double. These 2 schools are a well oiled machine than any college would love to have.
LSU and Alabama are very well organized football programs. Georgia is no where near them on that level both coaching and recruiting.
Then you take LSU and Alabamas developement program, they really work those guys hard and demand alot from them when they play.
Bobo can never develope into that type coach because he never developed as a player at Georgia. Mediocre at best.
But Todd Grantham has. This is why were seeing our defense getting better every year and the offense getting worst every year. Bobo has been trying to learn how to run an offense, he has no mentor and is learning as he goes.
Just be happy to win the SEC east, go to a bowl and let Georgia and Dr. Adams get millions of dollars from revenues. No BCS, no hershel walker, just a continuation of frustration when we play a very good team.
There really isnt many schools that can have programs like LSU and Alabama.

People say Bobo ain’t the problem after that supposed great first quarter everything I mean everything just went downhill the great QB Aaron Murray finally showed us who he really was overrated.
There were many times I saw him throwing passes without any defensive players around him couldn’t even reach the receivers themselves.
Maybe Crowell does need some competition around him, but a bad RB he is not just needs more players to challenge him for the spot.
Still Coach Richt has yet another year to prove what we already know that he’s not a great head coach.

i predicted the winner outcome and method on monday. i was exactly right. i am great.
second verse same as the first,
folks until lsu and bama are stopped from cheating they will always be at or near no 1 and no 2 end of story,.
how do they cheat you ask?…. by over signing. it is no co incidence that lsu and bama are 1 and 2. they are always the worst at over signing by a wide margin. matter of fact the sec is the worst conference at over signing by far as well. take away that advantage and the sec and bama and lsu are just part of a group of good teams.
the reason why uga got beat like a drum. the reason why osu got beat like a drum. the reason why any team that plays those two get beat like a drum is because it happens i the second half.
uga and lsu are probably fairly equal talent wise. it is when you start comparing 2nd team and 3 team and 4th team that the difference is apparent. lsu an bama has 4th teamser that are almost as good as their 1st team. no other teams in the country can match that talent across the board.. once they wear a team out they start to pull away. it happens over n over n over again,
saban and miles are both good coaches but not so great as to keep repeating their spots at no 1 and no 2 year after year. take away the advantage they use of over recruiting and those two team fall back into the pack with the rest of them.
now that usc and auburn and a few others in the sec are also over signing look for the dawgs to struggle to keep up unless st richt follows suit. this year for the dawgs was the exception not the rule.
dont believe me? think i am blowing smoke? read this article and say otherwise.

hey mark why not say what lsu and bama are about. they are not the top 2 teams in the country. they are the top two cheaters in the ncaa and nothing more.

LSU may be undefeated but their not the best team. Alabama is and they better hope they dont have to play them again. Im sure Les Miles will lobby to play another team than Bama.
To say LSU is great…….. is totally insane. Bad as Georgia was, LSU had no 1st. down and 7 total yards in the 1st half. Thats domination from a so called weak SEC East team.
LSU needed those turnovers to win and get momentum. No great team gets down by 14 pts because they dominate from start to finish. Please dont start to compare LSU to the Oklahoma, Nebraska, USC’s of the world.
Heck youre not even as good as the Auburn team was last year. LSU cannot win a game without getting turnovers which to me means theyve just been lucky. Besides LSU wasnt that good in the 2nd half, Georgia just made them look good and assisted with points.
Georgia gave up mentally when they got down 21-10 with those turnovers. No one can win when you spot a team 21 pts, miss a FG, drop 2 TD’s and have a sorry special teams.
This was the 1st time i have actually saw the entire Georgia team quit during a game in the 3rd quarter.
LSU fans know it, and i’ll bet you that during half time they were as upset with their team as we was with Georgia.

Only problem was you were emotionally spent in the second half. It was arm tackles city and we did what we have done all year. We just let the other team come out shoot all bullets and then we make adjustments and make plays. Kudos to the Dawgs for a great first half. you said…”Besides LSU wasnt that good in the 2nd half, Georgia just made them look good and assisted with points.”–I guess that was CMR’s halftime speech let’s go out here and make them look good. Your boys were EMOTIONALLY spent. They were too jacked in the 1st half and came out flat in the second half. Boykin is a baller but he got trucked not once but twice for scores. It was Georgia’s first time on a big stage so the young guys were tight. Mitchell won’t drop balls like that again, Ogletree won’t get blocked like that next time. You have a good team they just have to learn how to play in the spotlight. Fla, USC and Tenn will sick for the next 2-3 so feast on the East next year and let’s do this again. Mike Slive sold out the integrity of the SEC for the hope of 2 SEC teams in the MNCG. The return by the “honey badger” in the second quarter should have been a 1st and 10 in LSU territory. There were 2 UN-CALLED Blocks in the back by the return team, not to mention a “non-confirmed” fumble on the 1. The way Aaron Murray had to take repeated slaps to his face mask was sickening, and watchin Kwame Geathers being pulled from behind in a half-nelson during the TD run by Blue was maddening. Something inside of me thinks that after seeing almost 2 qtrs of UGA dominance, Commissioner Slive communicated to the SEC officials that this would not help the SEC to be the first conference to land 2 teams in the MNCG. Today I am proder to be a member of the BULLDAWG NATION tha that of the sec.

1) Get a special teams coach and scheme
2) Get a quarterback that can win a big game – Murray is good against teams that are good, average, and bad, but out of his class when it comes to playing the best
3) Get a new OC or a new QB – if the plays and scheme we were running was Bobo’s it was downright pathetic
4) Get a running game – what a mess for the last two years, hopefully it doesn’t continue down this road in 2012
5) Win the big games early in the year – watching the Dawgs is like watching Tom Glavine pitch the first two to three innings of a game, it’s a crapshoot, after the third he controlled the game, but prior to you never knew what you would get.
6) Resign CTG before he bolts or start lining up candidates now
7) Instill a never quit attitude – sadly missing tonight in the second half

I can’t believe I lowered myself and read 5 pages of this drivel. Let me start with this: I was in the Dome tonight and 99% of you losers weren’t. That means you aren’t true Georgia supporters or you are trolls from other programs that just want to snipe at a school that out-performed yours this year. First, for the Florida and Tech fans there is really nothing to say. You’ve had your glory days in the past and this wasn’t yours. Please go crawl back under the rock from which you emerged this morning (for you Techies, your Mothers basement). The fact that you rain on someone else’s success only makes you look like a bigger loser than you actually are. Second, for the LSU fans gloating on this website: congratulations, you have a tremendous team. Please kick Alabama’s or Oklahoma State’s ass in the National Championship game. I had a great time in the Dome conversing with your fans and you deserve all that comes to you. Finally, for the UGA fans that are bitching: get a life. Last year we were 6-7. This year we are 10-3 going into the bowl game. Get a life. We played everyone on our schedule. Who knew that Florida, Tennessee and Tech would have programs that we would be embarrassed to watch this year? Ignore the fans of these programs who are trying to overcome their own insecurities by degrading UGA (seriously, look forward five years and where do you see Florida and Tech? I agree, it doesn’t look good). Anyway, Georgia stunk it up in the second half tonight. The receivers sucked. Murray never seems to play well against a good opponent and Georgia seemingly always needs better offensive linemen. Bottom line is that is sure is better than a year ago. And for you delusional Georgia fans, it’s been 31 years since UGA won a national championship. Be happy with what you’ve got. Strive for better in the future but you are a moron if you think that a national championship is your birthright like so many of you insinuate. Get real.

Look’s like we will be playing Nebraska in the Outback Bowl in Tampa.
I predict that we will have one coaching change and I hope one coordinator, retained but demoted. It will be very interesting to see if McGarity forces Richt to tweak his coaching staff in order to make it better.I think Richt and Grantham both get extension’s with pay increases.
Our defense was great tonight , when you hold the best team in the nation to 12 yards in the first half and no first down’s. Three turnover’s by Murray killed us and even though Murray show’s moments of a great Quarterback has proven that when he is pressured that eventually he will get impatient and make game changing mistakes. I’m not saying that he won’t be our best Quarterback next year but if he show’s that he hasn’t learned anything next year I hope that CMR will give another Quarterback at least a chance. Murray has got to prove he can play under pressure.

When you physically dominate a team like LSU for half a game, and then come out totally different in the second half — that’s on the coaches. CMR and Bobo have continually un-tracked this team over the last 3 years. Things were working, and Bobo changes. Honey Badger is a known entity, and yet you keep feeding him the ball. Really? Twice? The D was spectacular in the first half, but they were on the field way toooo long in the second half. Runs by Thomas up the gut? Again? Against LSU? Are you just stupid Bobo? Does third and long mean anything to you? Do you want to get your QB killed? You let IC sidestep blocks and run his mouth, then we see road grader Malcome run like a beast AT THE END OF THE GAME. These coaches are just too stubborn, stupid or both. Murray is a gamer, but will never take this team further. He’s get’s too geeked up for big games and is too streaky a player. We’ve seen the best of CMR and Bobo — that’s it, there is no more. Grantham might actually be a decent head coach — just give him a valium for Tuesday pressers, and keep him away from anyone who might be offended by spit and the stink-eye. Now we can show up lackadaisical for whatever bowl game we land in — can froth at the mouth over the next recruiting class — and be prepared for another season where we can only beat teams who stink. Richt is a nice guy, but this season — and specifically this game — showed just how far UGA football is from being anywhere near an elite team. Saban, Miles, etc. will just roll on — and it will be more of the same in Athens. And don’t think for a minute that Florida and SC will just sit still and relinquish control to UGA. Spurrier has always had CMR’s number, and Florida won’t stay down for long. And you want to know why? Because their fans and AD won’t stand for it!!!!

These delusional fools need to stop obscessing over a ten game win streak against nobodies. LSU and Miles proved that to be a joke. There is only one way to solve UGA’s problem, and I doubt that the athletic board/Adams/McGarity have the necessary anatomical parts to do it. An amazing game for sure! I’ve never seen such a meltdown! It just goes to show you that Murphy’s law was ever more present with the DAWGS! There is too much blame to go around and I know the DAWGS feel bad enough without piling on more!
What a hard-fought year!! So much credit goes to the coaches and the players!! They stayed dedicated all year long to get to this game! Remember, it’s better to have played the game and lost than to have NOT played the game at all! Remember that Naysayers as you all crawl back into your holes. The DAWGS are still building and is loaded with young players who are growing up with every game! In many ways, it was lack of experience that lost the game but BOY, what a first half!!! How many times in the whole history of LSU football have they failed to even get a first down in the first half of a ballgame??? I mean, they were soundly WHOOPED!! I think, unfortunately, they whooping they got also whooped the whooper who didn’t have enough fuel in the tank for the second half as LSU’s offensive line began to dominate! Clearly, the superior team did win and we should congratulate them! I do believe, however, the Alabama will get’em in the championship game!
As for the DAWGS, keep building and work hard during the off-season! You’re definitely not far away and will do things next time in a better way, all four quarters. You had plenty of beef up front but as we all know, not enough in the backfield. Save for a few misreads in catching and passing routes, the game could have been a lot closer. The DAWGS also lost the turnover margin which was huge!
It may be hard to see but a lot of positives came out of this game and can be of much guidance for the future!! A good season, DAWGS, and I’m proud of you and can’t wait for the bowl game to give you a final cap on your accomplishments!! It will be a good way to feel great right on thru Spring practice which, by the way, isn’t that far away either! Hold your heads up HIGH and GO DAWGS!!!!

“The Dawgs are still building…” That seems to be amoung the favorite phrases of all UGA fans. Along with, “We’re one or two years away,” “Wait until next year,” “At least we beat North Ave Trade School.”
As long as UGA has a coach whose goal each and every season is, “We just want to win the SEC East.” That is all you are going to do. You are never going to see a National Title. The Team gets great recruits, but they lack the coaching that will bring them together as a TEAM. That’s how Boise States 1 and 2 star recruits beat this so called “Dream Team.” They were playing as a TEAM, while UGA’s players were too worried about making the high lite real and scoring little white bones for their helmets. In fact, UGA is one of the few teams that still marks the helmets with individual accomplishment.

To all you trash talking Georgie fans, you boys were right. Your team is good enough to play in the national championship this year. Aaron Murray is the X factor. Your receivers are play makers. Your D line is impenetrable. Your secondary forces turnovers. Your special teams is the real deal. And no one can stop your running game. The Dawgs have the most underrated team in the nation, and they can play with anyone on any field any time.
And then… you were taught a lesson in football. Our D line, which averages 6′3″ 260 rocked your touted 6′ 7″ 280lb (avg) wall. Our LBs and our secondary forced turnovers and properly and regularly introduced Murray to the turf. I think Mason completed more passes in that last drive than the little wus boy Murray did all game. Make up all the excuses that you want to about butter fingers and woulda shoulda coulda caught passes, but I refuse to believe that all Georgie receivers were suffering from the same ailment. Receivers drop passes for a variety of reasons, but when it is endemic, you have to credit the coverage and what is happening down field on every pass play or you have to blame the QB. Since I know you boys are absolutely awestruck by Murray let’s just credit LSU. LSU covers who they need to cover when they need to cover them, and they make receivers pay on every snap. If your eyes are not on the ball because they are on a defender, you’re not going to catch anything.
Your running game is almost as much of a joke as your passing game is. Crowell needs to switch to amphetamines to get that run started. A little tape shows all anyone with a decent line needs to know. And we have an exceptional line. So just a word of advice, next time you want to brag about a defense or compare stats, make sure it is as good as the one who shut you down last night and made you look like a high school team.
Speaking of high school, if you want to test your abilities adequately on the field, don’t schedule high school teams all year and then expect to play with the big boys. Your team sucks, it always did, and everyone else in the nation knew it. Now you do too. The only team in Georgie that can say they haven’t had their asses handed to them every time they were in the Dome this year will be the Falcons, and that is sad.
So now that you boys know what real football is all about, look at it this way. Today is your first day of enlightenment. A new pathway has been set before you that offers freedom and awareness despite the pain, hardship, and realization that is still before you. This morning is analogous to that morning after your visit to Jo Bob’s Watering Hole when you had a little too much JB, took that little hottie home, but woke up next to yer first cousin. Here’s the complete unabridged no BS reality… you made a mistake, all the other Georgie boys made the same one you did, you were told it was going to happen but thought you knew better, and there’s nothing, absolutely nothing you can do to take it back or make it go away. So embrace it, accept it, and just marry that bitch!
GO DAWGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SICK EM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AWOOF AWOOF AWOOF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh, that’s the only thing you taught the nation last night… how stupid that sounds.

I was very impressed with the Dawgs in the first half.It showed that UGA has talent everywhere with the exception of RB. I knew the dropped passes were going to haunt us. The second half concerned me. Obviously we got mauled, but its how it happened that concerns me. Once UGA got behind 14-10, they lost all intensity. All of a sudden, a team who couldn’t get a 1st down was running it down the Dawg’s throat. Not enough time had passed to blame it on fatigue. It was mental. Then on the last LSU drive, UGA just quit, plain and simple.
I’m encouraged by UGA’s turnaround, but I have an uneasy feeling. The second half could be the result of an inexperienced team that was facing elite competition for the first time and will grow from it, but I’m wondering if this is as good as it gets under CMR.

Only UGA fans would think beating up on crappy teams proved their team was a good program. Here’s UGA record against quality opponents this year: 0-3. Give Richt that extension and it will be more of the same. This is the same team that lost to Central Florida, Boisie St. and South Carolina in consecutive games. UGA is a real football power-NOT. This is what the stupid racist fans get. Stop calling your players “ghetto” and “thug” all the tme and and maybe some good karma will come back to you. Rednecks.

Looking at the proposed 2012 Schedule, UGA should have another easy year.
9-1: Buffallo
9-8: South Carolina
9-15: Florida Atlantic
9-22: Vanderbilt
9-29: Tennessee
10-6: Alabama (Possibly replaced by Missouri)
10-13: Kentucky
10-27: Florida
11-3: Ole Miss
11-10: Auburn
11-17: Georgia Southern
11-24: GA Tech
Looks like a Big East Schedule again.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Looking at this schedule, can we assume that drug tests will be given about Oct 3, or Oct 24 since it takes a few days for the results to come in? This is assuming Bama remains on the schedule.

You Dawg fans kill me. It is not Bobo’s fault, not Coach Ritch’s. Ga just got beat by a superior team, maybe the best college team in the last ten years. As far as any consolation about a 10 win season, you have to be kidding. Every team they beat was a high school level team including my terrified pansies from North Avenue. There are at least 20 teams in the country that are better than Ga. This much ballayhooed weight of the sumo wrestlers on the o and d liness can’t get out of their own way. I never have seen so much gut hanging over on any team. You are pathetic. Just look again at the pansie schedule Ga had versus any of the West SEC teams.

UGA can’t make adjustments once a game gets going…how can a program that consistently ranks in the top ten nationally consistently be mediocre? With the money poured into that program and the talent that appears annually, there is no excuse for this second tier level of play year after year. They just don’t beat the real good teams. Everyone is entitled to his own opinions but not his own facts, and it is a fact that UGA’s record under Richt against top opponents is dismal.

One other thing, if you are waiting for Dreadlocks ahanging in his eyes Crowell as the next great Ga tailback, you have a serious think acoming. This guy hasn’t the heart nor the ability to take you to the promised land. Neither do any of the other pint sized backs. Murray is an outstanding QB, but prone to try to do too much. Next year Ga will be another 10 game winner going no where due to the pansie schedule.

UGA is at the high point of where they are going under Richt. Lack of depth in back field, O-line, D- line and all of the freshman receivers are a result of the head man. He has been there for 10 years. Crowell was billed as the all savior, another recruiting mistake. UGA has a choice in front of it….Keep Richt and stay in the middle of the pack in the SEC or make a change and see progression.
6 Straight National Championships yet UGA has not even sniffed one. Look at who has, each with coaches / programs with less time than Richt and his staff. UGA’s record this year is a result of beating a terrible bottom half of the league as well as the usual cup cakes New Mexico and Coastal Carolina. As a fan base, we got all excited about beating UF this year. How bad are they? And we almost lost that one? Do we even have a signature win this year?
I thought it was interesting to see Murray tweeting about the defense and it’s comparisons to LSU’s. Difference was obvious that LSU’s numbers were against some of the best teams in the country. Grantham’s were against teams that won 25% of their games.
Tough descions are to be made, but that is why the Athletic Director makes the big bucks. UGA, with a state full of talent, needs to make a change.

Good job for having a good season. LSU won and I a Georgia fan believe they are a great team.
Having said that, the 2 dropped passes in the end zone and the pass to a wide open receiver down the field in the first quarter put Georgia in a hell of a situation.
Great job defense, if only Georgia had a running game it might have helped. But the defense gave a great effort against the number 1 team in the nation, and I they just had to be on the field to much.
Aaaron wasn’t having a good game, I don’t understand why Bobo would not put Mason in for a few series? It would have given Aaron the opportunity to settle down and get his feet back under him.
I believe Georgia might have won that game, if those passes wern’t dropped. The Georgia defense was playing extremely well and maybe Bobo might have stayed with the creative play calling-rather than his favorite, “run up the middle for a yard with injured or small running backs”. That affected the team tremendously and caused Georgia to lose the confidence and momentum they had!
I truley hope that recruits see that Georgia has an opportunities in the running game! I hope the juniors all come back next year!
Congradulations to LSU from this Georgia fan. Congradulations to coaches at Georgia for a ten win season. I had rather be 10-3, than 6-7 or whatever it was last year!

In 40 plus years of following college football, I have never seen a team be so thoroughly dominated on defense and come back to put a beatdown on like they did to us last night. If they (LSU) play OK State, LSU will crush them.
To the LSU folks in Sec 211, row 5, sorry for talking smack during the game. I understand now why you were as polite as your were. Your team talks for you. Unfortunately, mine did too. I just don’t like what they said.

Buddy Landell you are right if thats georgia schedule for next year then we should be fine. consider the whole defense is coming back except Boykins and Tyson we shold be ranked pretty high on defense. the whole entire LB unit will be back that will be a big plus. Jenkins will be back in the middle we shold have one of the best defense in the nation. only road block from the look of that schedule will be S. Carolina going there will be a test. with Lattermore and Jefferies back they are going to be a challenge. once again who ever win that game will be in the drivers seat for the east. georgia must get some more RB’s to substain in this league. if that schedule what you talking about there Buddy Landell then i see us if we can get by s. Carolina undefeated but i am not holding my breath over that.

A courageous effort by the Bulldogs. With that said, Crowell seemed afraid of the LSU defense and it showed in his play. Miles is another coach that defies the laws of a media logic on how a football coach is suppose to look or act. What keeps guys like Richt alive is this myth that coaches come in this or that package and are press friendly. I find Miles hugely refreshing, just like I do Spurrier. He knew that he was going to win, he was not impressed with Georgia, he, like so many good coaches sees through the myth and realizes what Georgia has really done is buy off the local press who help them crusade to keep status quo. They don’t want to fire Richt, they have been looking for reasons to keep him, well now you are back to square one.

Maybe next year UGA will hire a special teams coach (I’m saying for the 100th time). A special teams coach would have focused on the other teams special team strengths (although #7 for LSU shouldhave been a no brainer) and comes up with a scheme to avoid those strengths. UGA should have leaned from the last time we played LSU that you don’t kick to one of the best return men in the nation — idiotic. Also, the officiating sucked — the lineman looked at #7 funny because he knew he released the ball before crossing the end zone line but didn’t do anything about it and there were two separate clips on that return. Anyway, the first half showed the Dogs can play with anyone and should create good momentum goinginto next year. I hope we don’t lose a bunch of juniors to the draft — this group can definitely win a SEC Championship. Go Dawgs!

LSU fan speaking here. I have read yall’s posts and have to tell ‘ya, that was one whale of a first half by UGA. You guys have to be proud of how your coaches and players performed. UGA had LSU stymied on offense and you had some dropped passes. Your fans were awesome (the BCS chanting was effective – your boys were pumped) and the on-side kick was brilliant. All that being said, you couldn’t overcome LSU’s depth. IMO that is what separates them from the pack.
LSU has an opportunity to do something and become something no other Tiger team has. But I think Richt is a good coach and you all have nothing to hang your head about from this game!

You can’t win with tiny RB attempting to block a blitzing safety. Watching Crowell in pass protection was painful. Why didn,t Bobo use Figgins and White and if no blitz, slip them out to catch a pass.
Hell, they could run the ball too…at least they have the size be effective. I hope I never see Ga relying on a middle school size RB ever again. LSU saw they could not block, so Murray got blitzed to death the whole 2rd half….game over.

Nice post dawgfan, finally someone says there proud to be a ga. bulldog, if tech ever finds a coach who wins over 100 games in 11 seasons, and beats uga 10 out of 11 he will be one of the highest paid coaches in the country. Sometimes this obsession with a NC puzzles me.

Just curious; how can a team that is so arrogant that it can’t
be bothered to compete for the whole first half be considered
so great? Bradley, who said that Tech needed comeuppance just
for being ranked too high, can’t see that LSU might be just a
tad cocky. I’m not even a Georgia fan, but would love to see
LSU taken down after that.

I thought we had a fighting chance. A game is 60 minutes, not 30. One dimensional will not get it done vs a great LSU team. We were thin at running backs from day one in the season. Where’s the depth, where’s the recruiting over the past few year’s to get some quality depth and some meat on the bones of running backs? Isaiah ” can’t be counted on ” Crowell was the savior?? He cannot do it alone. Get me some depth please at running back. Samuels a nice little player but truly not a running back. Thomas and the other guy to small and you hoped and prayed either didn’t get their limbs snapped in two the whole season.

Georgia showed in the first half that they have a lot of talent, but then showed that they are physically and mentally soft. After the Mathieu return made it 10-7, Georgia basically quit. Grantham must have sensed it because the sideline reporter on the telecast was talking about him screaming at the defense when they went down 14-10; at that point the defense had only given up a short field touchdown but Grantham must have been able to tell that they were quitting. The offensive line gave Murray plenty of time early but in the second half they couldn’t even slow down the LSU pass rush. The Georgia defensive line was stuffing the run in the first half but got mauled in the second half. LSU didn’t even have to throw the ball, they ran it down Georgia’s throat in the second half. Boykin is afraid to tackle anybody. Rambo stood like a statue as Blue ran right by him on the long TD run. He wanted no part of Blue. I’d love to hear him explain to Grantham what he was thinking when they watch the film. And what is there to say about Crowell, who limped off after every play, picked up a personal foul penalty and then turned his back and walked away when Richt was trying to talk to him after the penalty? He looks to be a cancer in the mold of King and Ealey. I’d like to see Richt suspend him for the bowl game to send the message that he will have to either get his head right and show some work ethic or go somewhere else.

Still very proud of the Dawgs. I wont be able to blog today due to the fact i’m in morniing. Good luck to the bengals. We have a bright future but a terrible need for a running back with some moxy. Can’t say it was the coach’s fault. You have to make the plays and we simply failed in that area. AM is tough and gutsy…just not accurate enough to play at this level. His job is up for grabs, its time. The Oline did a good job against a relentless front four. Crowell’s new name should be OHWELL. I tried all year to give him the benefit of the doubt. Several people have said he has no heart. Now i have to agree. Hats off to the defense who kept us in this all year… without TG’s JYD’S. Carlthon Thomas was awful. Remember, they thought enough of you in the Tech game at the end to give you the ball to run out the clock. Even started Crowell who was anything but game ready and also is not a power back. Well, you’re in their Dawg house, so see if you can find another team that wants you.

All of the posers and haters coming on these blogs taking cheap shots at the Dawgs are pathetic — talk about jealousy. One key fact in the game everyone has missed was Gilliard going out (and Tyson) already being out. You could see LSU picking on that side after Gilliard left the game. Georgia got hit with the injury bug pretty hard, especially late in the season — that’s why we need to develop more depth with this year’s recruiting class. The good news is, with the exception of Senior Tyson, that Lee, Gilliard, Samuel, Thomas, and Crowell will all be back next year as long as none of them jumps early.

It’s too late to hire a new coach this year. Had you bit the bullet and fired Coach Richt after last year’s debacle, then you could have hired an experienced HC with a proven record. Rich Rod would have been a good choice. Those few available qualified Head Coaches aren’t available now. They’ve already been hired by someone else.

DEFENSIVE STARTERS PLAYING ON SPECIAL TEAMS.
LOSE THE DRAW PLAY FROM THE PLAYBOOK

BEAT S. CAROLINA
Why do you go away from an offensive gameplan that worked in the 1st quarter to protect a 10 point lead? LSU played the same defensive scheme, after Mitchell dropped the TD pass we never threw downfield again untill the 4th quarter for an interception.
!st quarter 5 recievers in the game for an opportunity of 21 points, after the dropped pass, 2 reciever sets with 3 and outs and punts and turnovers.
WHY?? To protect a 10 point lead which we all knew would not stand.
Hope we get this kid at running back from N.C. {Marshall} The ones we have {Crowell and Thomas} are shaping up to be another pair like Ealey and King.
Never have I seen a player for any team at any level that has been given more chances than Crowell. The 15 yard penalty he got in the 4th was inexcusable, after a full season he can’t pass block, can’t remember where to line up, maybe our famous saying of {next season} he’ll mature into a grown-up.
Proud our Dawgs got to this game and won 10 games this season, lots of positives to look forward to, our 36 yards of offense for 2 quarters was more than LSU’s 12 yards for 2 quarters.
Our defense looks like world beaters again next season, with some great talent and even more with the addition of Ray Drew and Sterling Bailey,
Officiating was a joke during the game, the punt return for a td was a close call crossing the endzone line, 3 block in the backs on the same play went unnoticed.
LSU constantly holding our recievers, Chris Connley was held on every play he was involved in. John Chavis knows the percentages on holding recievers, It gets called 1 out of every 25 pass plays, so hold on every play and more than likely your not going to get flagged but twice against a pass happy team. A holding call is alot eaiser to overcome than a TD.
Good luck to LSU against Ok. St. Hopefully, Love to see the Bammers cry and whine about that.

1. How many turnovers from Murray in a big game now? The guy chokes, and Richt just won’t bench him, no matter how many passes he can’t complete, or how many fumbles and interceptions he commits.
2. Why did punt balls to #7? Should have kicked them out of bounds. This was a major coaching error.
3. Missed opportunities–Murray missed wide open guys, he was so inaccurate, they couldn’t catch anything he threw.

What a joke, in a game of this magnitude you have to have a running game and backs over two hundred pounds who can man up when they get bruised, next you have to hold onto the ball and score. Georgia will be in the same position next and the year after that until you fix all of the above, and finally find a better offensive play caller. I think Mark is a good coach; however you have to man up and tell Bobo the end has come.

But like Bill King has written many times Bobo does this every single game. And thats why Mike Bobo is not even considered for any other coaching jobs.

And this is why it is time for him to go. LSU came out in the 1st half with an incomprehensible game plan that totally played away from their strengths. They basically spotted us a half, and still ran us out of the building. Congrats to LSU on a solid win, the best team in the country. They had no doubt they were going to win and we had no doubt in the (second half) we were going to lose.
Richt seems to be the only coach in the country that can coach a team down in the halftime locker room. What is going on with the uber conservative 3rd quarter playcalling? Completely deflating and transparent
It’s not Murray. Murray was hitting them in the numbers. The 1st half play calling was brilliant and the defense was sharp. That all ended at the 2nd half kick off almost on que. The game showed us that we need to address two critical areas:
First we need running backs you can’t win relying only on the passing game, having said that, the passing game was the only viable option we had to stay with LSU. The receivers let us down by dropping so many catchable balls. Next recruiting period we need to focus on gettinng quality SEC backs, backs that can take a licking and keep on ticking.
Second our backups need to be as close to the same quality as the starters. LSU basically just wore us down, their depth was far supior ours. Look at the defense how can we expect our defense to play all game without some talented backups. LSU is 4 deep at most positions. We are only deep at quarterback.
Finally while Bobo may not be the best OC in the game you can’t lay this loss at his feet. If we had executed we stood a good chance of pulling this win off.
Coaches go get us backs and some quality backups and we’ll be in the mix next year.

The contrast of the comments made in the bravado of the pre-season, then the despair and “fire cmr” mantra after SC, and then the gathering storm of faux-bravado returning after you played 9 straight teams that either were just plain bad or were in decline and then the giddiness when you you all were duped into thinking you were really good was amazing. Ten Straight wins!!!!
Against who? uga had the easiest schedule I have ever seen an SEC team get. EVER. All the perenially good teams on your schedule were magically down and struggling mightily.
There was a good reason you won ten straight after SC. You should have. But the mistake you doggies made was misinterpreting the results. Especially after Auburn. (which if you were smart enough to look closely you would have realized that Auburn would have lost to UF if it had not been for UF imploding on 5 dropped punts and UF in general was just terrible this year) And speaking of UF you beat them by 4 and should have beat them by 50.
And the polls did uga NO service by letting it creep up that far in light of their schedule.
Just so much to say and so little time.

Sure Georgia should have been leading at the half 21-0. We still lose the game 35-21. Potential touchdowns don’t count. Lousy officiating that goes unchecked doesn’t count. What counts is what the scoreboard says when the last second rolls off the clock. It is at that moment you’re either a true Bulldog or a fair weather fan. You either still love your “boys,” support your team, rejoice in the in-game victories and weep over turnovers and miscues or you start pontificating and running your mouth off about who is at fault, who sucks and who should be fired.

@1962 Dawg…. Boy you got it all figured out. Talk about delusional. You lost because of the refs. Give me a break. You got your tail whipped by a much better team. Just like everyone except Dawg fans thought you would . There were 3 teams in the West better than UGA and the results would have been the same. Good luck with your NC run next year . That’s what Dawg fans live on.

Think about a long term contract with Richt and then think of this being the last year a team can hide like Georgia did from the real SEC. Texas A&M will get a new coach and they will come into this conference smoking. They will move Alabama over to the east to make room and they don’t buy excuses at Alabama like they do at Georgia.

First of all, I’m sick of all these roaches (aint/lsu fans) talking funky about the dawgs and Falcons. Show more respect while you reside in MY state. Last I checked, the population of New Orleans is still on the decline.
The dawgs did what they were supposed to do. 10 wins for GA are valid for who we are, against the teams we played. Our defense still played as well as they were supposed to. Offensively, lsu made us one demensional. We felt the loss of Samuels, and the need for a “traditional” big back. IC is built more for a spread offense or 3rd down in Bobo’s O scheme.
I’m miffed at the special teams for even punting the ball to the Honey Bird.
Next year will be even better. We have a lot of young players returning and more great recruits are on the way. Our 2012 season will look much better than lsu, because your big guns are heading to the league. Lsu, enjoy your 2011 while it lasts. Rebuild (something you should be used to) is on the way.

Dawgs will never be a quality SEC team until they take special teams play serious. I have said it a thousand times……they will and can lose games for you. The run back of the punt and end of 2nd quarter was the momentom changer that LSU need. To see the defense play so great and then to see Spc. teams just give it back was sick. From that point on the dawgs were finished.

Flat Tire our starters are top notch, but a football team is more than just the starters. We need players that are just a notch below starting, ready to to take on the starting role.
The players we have that go on to play on Sunday come from our 1st string. We need a stronger bench.
We can field a strong 22 on any given Saturday, we need to have 22 more on the bench, The problem is that the additional 22 aren’t ready until they become starters.

The most disappointing part of all of UGA’s season is in Crowell. IF CMR is THE MAN of integrity he claims to be – he would do the right thing and go ahead and get rid of Crowell. Crowell is a thug – and for CMR to keep him means CMR has to compromise his values – for the sake of player who could really care-less about playing for UGA.

If I could have changed only one thing last night it would have been playing Boo Malcome all night long. Not just kicking it away from the Badger…not just ‘turning’ conservative with the play calling…just giving the ball to Malcome who clearly is the best RB we have. Man, we sure could have used a Trinton Sturdivant, Richard Samuel, AJ Green, DeAngelo Tyson, Dallas Lee, and a healthy Crowell last night.
Think AJ would have dropped either of those two TD passes? T. King is not an adequate replacement. Michael Bennett forgot to show up last night.
Our starting defense is awesome. Need to find 11 guys to back ‘em up.
The game turned when the Dawgs allowed the field position to flip.
Gonna give Crowell a pass in this game. Obviously, he was not physically ready to go. I am concerned greatly about his decision making though. Lot of growing up to do. I hope he uses the off season wisely and cleans out his ears. Marshall and Gurley, we’re keeping your seats warm. When will Carlton Thomas’ eligibility finally run out?
As good as Murray was in the first half, he was that bad in the second half. One play that stood out to me was an incomplete dump pass to Crowell with Orson wide open 10 yards behind him.
What happened to Boykin/Smith on offense?
Mason and Malcome looked good against their third team defense.

This game showed the bull dogs are still a mediocry team under CMR, and probally will remain that way. Grantham once again showed he is not the coach that should have been talking about more money just because his defense rose up on opponents that were worst off than Ga. Everyone knows Ga. won (10) games but look at who the wins were against.
I like CMR, but i believe until there is a change Ga. cannot and will not beat a top 10 ranked team. Also the Crowell experiment did not and probabally will not work in Ga, Ga. has to bring in some tough and durable running backs in order to contend in the SEC.

What time is the BCS announcement tonight? I’m more than a little curious to see if the SEC makes history again by placing two teams from the same conference in the BCS Championship Game for the first time in the 15-year history of the BCS. Not sure whether I agree with it or not, but I’m pretty sure that Alabama and LSU are the two most deserving teams. I don’t think any other team in the country is close to the caliber of LSU and Alabama this year . . . .

Mark – I agree. This is a great college football team, in every phase of the game. I have watched college football for 63 years and, right now, I would rate LSU the 3rd best college football team of all time. The top would be the 1995 Nebraska Cornhuskers, whose margin of victory is unsurpassed, climaxed by a crushing of Florida in the national championship game by 62-24. Second, in my opinion, would be the 1971 Nebraska team of Johnny Rodgers, etal, and that game for the ages where No. 1 Nebraska beat No. 2 Oklahoma 35-31, when both teams were nearly on the level of the NFL. However, having said that, if LSU wins the national championship game by more than 38 points, then I would have to rank them No.1 of all time.

Can’t play in the SEC without several good running backs. We had a offensive scheme which LSU could not stop. So we stopped it. I will never figure that out. It never happened like that at Miami, nor at FSU, so it must be BOBO. Sorry Mike, we need a real OC now. You have done a good job, but it is time for a change there too! No real offense against good teams shows the soft underbelly. Maybe we can also get some of these old part time coaches to help with special teams. We’ve gone from First to worst in that category. Other than than we won the East, we lost the championship, and now we will win a bowl. Let’s get some good running backs in here now!

That’s the team I want to see…..in the 1st quarter:
We played lights out on D
Our playcalling was aggressive, innovative, and not predictable
Murray was pinpoint with his passes (we dropped a few, but I’ll forgive that)
We actually called two trick plays (onsides kick, flea flicker)
That is the team and coaching I’ve been looking for and expect
Then, the team I’m used to seeing since 06 showed up:
Our playcalling went predictable and away from what was working
Our D backs didn’t want any part of tackling
We had no adjustments
We had no leadership, no playmakers, no response
I can handle a loss with the team that played in the 1st Quarter.
We won 10 wins, but we will go to another meaningless bowl game in FL
We will yet again look to recruiting to build our hopes
We will yet again not be in the NC hunt
I’m ready for a change of regime. We are in GA, a top 3 state for football. We have the support, $$, tradition.
I am ready to be relevant.

Here’s what I didn’t like about UGA in the second half:
• dull, unimaginative play-calling
• sloppy play (dropped passes, fumbles, muffed punts)
• a return to form of special teams; to wit, lack of discipline
• amazingly poor tackling
• Crowell not only ran poorly, he let a defender run right past him and sack Murray, which leads to…
• poor tailback play in general — a constant the past few years
• once again, UGA lacked the will, the discipline and the team-first attitude to contend at the highest levels
All of which is to say the AD’s got a dilemma about whether to give Richt an extension, because this year’s record against a weak schedule is somewhat misleading. as presently constituted, it’s unlikely UGA will ever be anything more than a second-tier SEC team (hello, Texas A&M and Missouri!). As much as I admire CMR as a man, I suspect his real calling is in missionary and/or non-profit work where his convictions and his mild manner would be properly appreciated.

6-See Item #4 again.
7-UGA should not sign/update Richt contract until the end of next year. To do so would be a huge mistake. The AD shouldn’t complicate things anymore with updating his current contract.
8-Bama will not make the playoff because folks wish to see someone else. You need a +1 game or just go to 8 teams and lets end this stuff once and forever. Have you ever seen a team fold like OU did last night. Big Game Bob sucks like Linda Lovelace. The fact he makes 5 million a year is a fecking joke and he should return 2/3’s to OU this year. Seriously, you didn’t beat a single team that is in the top 25 right now and I’m not arguing that Tech isn’t anything real good either (because they aren’t), but it remains a fact they were the “crown jewel” victory in your SEC East crown wearing season.
Hopefully you will play a ranked opponent in a bowl game and win it, otherwise your SEC East title is a joke – winning it only because Carolina had to play Arkansas while you got to play Ole Miss.

There will never be a champion in “your book”, because you aren’t a fan of a championship caliber team.
When Coach Saban arrived at Alabama, he was replenishing a depleted squad that had been previously limited by scholarship reductions. Alabama may have deserved their sanctions, but when it’s over, you have to let them get back to their normal level of scholarship players. Ole Miss actually holds the record for “over-signing” in the SEC. Saban isn’t even close.
Alabama and LSU don’t cheat. They get better players because the best players want to play for the best programs. It’s a vicious cycle, but it isn’t illegal or immoral. It’s called competition.

That 1st half was inspiring. UGA was dominate. Sad that so many passes were dropped, mistakes made and LSU penalties missed, but play calling and effort was outstanding. What made me want to vomit was the complete lack of heart from the UGA DB’s especially # 2 ? in that game. Dion Sanders was given a pass by many people for his lack of wanting to tackle because he was such a great cover and return man. None of that applies to these DB’s. #2 and the other corner to a lessor extent should be embarrassed. They tackling effort was the worst I have ever witnessed at any level in football. Dropping a ball or committing an error is usually because of a lack of focus. What those DB”s did or more appropriately “did not do” is worthy of being called cowardice.

You cannot win in the SEC with scat backs. I love the defense, we will be back in this game soon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yesterday, once again, the loss of Urban Meyer proved that the SEC east has no team ready for the SEC West. And once again it was proved that Crowell is not ready for prime time.
What new batch of 5 stars is going to change this ? Probably none.

The great Koolaid factory continues to roll on. If the Taliban had the optimism of Dawg fans, they would be in the White House.

The SEC West is best, the East best teams couldn’t beat the ACC ’s best teams. If Richt is shown the door, who better would replace him . Two former SEC coaches are now in great locations to sell their products at USC and OSU, they are getting super h.s. recruits, and exceptional J.C. players. It’s not hard to sell L.A. to gullible h.s. kids, and the gentleman at OSU is selling a national championship….Stay tuned it should be interesting.

A few thoughts;
1. We need a new recruiting staff.
2. CMR does not need a contract extension.
3. The receivers need to throw away the WELDERs gloves they have worn all year. I doubt they could catch a beachball with those mitts on their hands.
4. Bobo needs a pink slip.

Unique Trait of Being a UGA Fan:
What you will always hear after a loss: Excuses.
What you will never hear after a loss: “The better team won.”

All this talk about LSU and Nebraska (in the 90’s) being the greatest teams in college football, don’t forget about the Miami teams during their domination and superiority of college football in their hayday.

I told you dawg fans…….you had no clue what was coming your way! Did i not say LSU would POUND you? Only BAMA can BEAT them , and BEAT them they WILL! You see dawg fans, you all don’t have a power runner ( we have 3 ) that pounds and pounds the d line until it cannot play.
I will say though I was impressed with the 1st half…….GA could’ve been up 28 -0 and I think you all would’ve won! Go recruit several power runners, then you can compete.
By the way, didn’t I say Crowell would be on the sidelines most of the game? Too bad he was lame before the game, I think he would’ve helped Ga some, but not enough to win.

I don’t know why everyones all pissy after this game. UGA just played arguably one of the best college football teams of all time with a starting line up full of underclassmen, held them to an ncaa record NO first downs in the first half, and a measley 12 yards, and yet were still leading with an amazing amount of missed opportunities. Yes our OC is an idiot and should be fired but this has been an amazing season and its incredible we even got to the championship after our start. I am more than happy with a 10+ win season in what was supposed to be a down year. Everyone calm down, we’ll be right back there next year. Go Dawgs.

I agree with the assessment Georgia gave LSU all they could handle in the first half, but the game is 60 minutes, not 30. The Dawgs have had a great regular season and will hopefully end it with a bowl victory. So looking forward to next year when all the Georgia freshman to juniors can take the helm and move mountains to get back to the SEC championship game in 2012. Problem is the likelihood they will have to face the same LSU tigers. Even though the LSU 2011 class will be graduating 25 off the team, the tigers are deep and will not miss a beat next year. Actually, it may be hard to imagine this, but they will more than likely be even better!
