Live from Tech-UGA: Dogs are doomed (because I pick them)

I’ve seen Georgia Tech play five times in person; I’ve seen Georgia six times. Of the teams’ five losses, I’ve covered them all. (Which I guess makes me bad luck. But you knew that already.) I’m not claiming this season’s worth of close observation makes me an expert — you all know better, don’t you? — but it does render me duty-bound to offer this:
I wouldn’t be shocked if Tech wins today. But I would be surprised.
The two best units in this game — Tech’s offense and Georgia’s defense — will deploy against one another. I don’t think Georgia’s D will shut down Paul Johnson’s O, but I don’t see Tech gaining 500 yards again. Say Tech gets 20 points. Will that be enough to win?
Don’t think so. Georgia’s offense isn’t the smoothest-running assemblage, but I don’t see Tech’s defense holding the Bulldogs under 20 points. (Even though Kentucky just did.) If the Bulldogs can find a tailback — a big “if,” I’ll concede — they should be able to keep the ball and keep Johnson’s offense off the field long enough to matter.
Then again, I’m often wrong. But let me note that I picked Georgia to go 10-2 and Tech to finish 8-4 … and both things would happen if the Bulldogs win. I’m saying they will. But maybe you disagree.
And that, as luck would have it, is why we have these live chats. Feel free to disagree. Or agree. Or abstain. I’ll be here until one team or the other actually wins, and I welcome your company. But let me also say this: I’m not inclined to let extraneous issues derail this exercise. So let’s try to keep this installment of Old-Fashioned Hate somewhat clean, OK?

Great win for our Dawgs……but we have as much chance next week as Tech had against us today…..Little…..LSU 41 Dawgs 17…… And kudos to Tech today for stuffing the run. The Tech D is pretty bad. I would hate to face Johnson with him having a great defense. Great win Dawgs. Enjoy and A BIGGER shout out to RICHT for running the table after 0-2. I don’t care who you are, that’s a good job.

Actually, I think that UGA vs. VPI would be a very good football game. I know, its “cool” to act like any team from another conference can’t be any good, but that is not always the case.

Tech’s problem was not the high school offense ,it was their inability to stop a one dimensional offense .The Dawgs running game was worse than ever.I hope they find it next week.Malcolm had a few runs in garbage time ,other than that they let Tech stone the run all damn day.
CPJ was staring daggers through Al Groh all day,looks like Tech will have a new D-Coordinator again next year.Maybe Willie Martinez should apply for the job.

I have to say, I feel like this loss will hurt our season ticket sales for next year even more… now CPJ will be the one on the hot seat if he doesn’t win the bowl game.
Once again, congrats to all the dawgs on the beatdown… Mark Richt had your team prepared. I’m afraid if we keep losing to you guys, our “home” games will see up to 80% dawg fans. It was already 2/3 red & black by the 3rd quarter today. That would be pretty sad for this “rivalry”.
We have always been outnumbered and out-recruited, now it seems like we’re being outcoached and outplayed as well.

Dawgs have a chance. We held tech to 244 yards. This is a very potent offense that focuses on the run. LSU ranks 75th on offense. They will not be running up and down the field on this team. Our Offense will score some points. This is gonna be fun…go dawgs! WE OWN TECH.

How great it feels that the Dawgs have won 10 in a row! That means a 5-1 ratio of W’s over L’s for the regular season. Or to put it another way, an 83.33 percent victory percentage. The best part, though, is that CMR now has a 10-1 record against Tech, a 90.91 percent tally. This game was also significant because CMR now has a 70-game cushion of wins versus losses (106-36). That’s a 74.65 percent success rate.
Now it’s on to the SEC championship game and a top-tier bowl game. I believe that Georgia will have more to cheer about before the last whistle blows.
