Live from Tech-UGA: Dogs are doomed (because I pick them)

I’ve seen Georgia Tech play five times in person; I’ve seen Georgia six times. Of the teams’ five losses, I’ve covered them all. (Which I guess makes me bad luck. But you knew that already.) I’m not claiming this season’s worth of close observation makes me an expert — you all know better, don’t you? — but it does render me duty-bound to offer this:
I wouldn’t be shocked if Tech wins today. But I would be surprised.
The two best units in this game — Tech’s offense and Georgia’s defense — will deploy against one another. I don’t think Georgia’s D will shut down Paul Johnson’s O, but I don’t see Tech gaining 500 yards again. Say Tech gets 20 points. Will that be enough to win?
Don’t think so. Georgia’s offense isn’t the smoothest-running assemblage, but I don’t see Tech’s defense holding the Bulldogs under 20 points. (Even though Kentucky just did.) If the Bulldogs can find a tailback — a big “if,” I’ll concede — they should be able to keep the ball and keep Johnson’s offense off the field long enough to matter.
Then again, I’m often wrong. But let me note that I picked Georgia to go 10-2 and Tech to finish 8-4 … and both things would happen if the Bulldogs win. I’m saying they will. But maybe you disagree.
And that, as luck would have it, is why we have these live chats. Feel free to disagree. Or agree. Or abstain. I’ll be here until one team or the other actually wins, and I welcome your company. But let me also say this: I’m not inclined to let extraneous issues derail this exercise. So let’s try to keep this installment of Old-Fashioned Hate somewhat clean, OK?

Well I’m here… looks like I’m the only Jacket fan here.
First off, full credit goes to you dawgs. You were well-prepared, well-coached, and ready for it. Johnson, I’m sorry to say was off the mark… as was Tevin Washington. As expected he could not lead his team back from a halftime deficit. If this trend continues, you’re gonna see a lot of empty BDS at halftime.
Defense didn’t get the stops early enough, and when it did, it was too late. Same goes for the passing game. And the special teams. Well, just about everything.
Still, I’m not taking anything away from you guys. Congrats on a great “road” win. Good luck in the championship game. You’re gonna need it.

I have seen a lot of improvement in Georgia in recent weeks….and adding Conley to the WR corp makes their offense so much better. But Crowell has to come back healthy and play extremely well for Georgia to beat LSU…..but….hey…..all is possible. I am just not sure anyone could beat LSU right now….

The ABC graphic was telling as to WHY Coach Kung Fu Panda is the WRONG HC for GT, since 2007 the Sate of Ga. is 3rd in the numbers of 4* & 5* Recruits, YET we at GT hire a HC that drives AWAY 4* & 5* Recruits.
All them cannot be too dumb to go to GT, in downtown Atl. , there’s no reason to hire a Triple-SLOPtion HC.

Who cares what Mark May says or thinks or for that matter anyone on ESPN? Yes, we have a huge mountain to climb next week against maybe one of the best SEC teams ever to take the field. I know this much, we will come to play and come to win. This team is clearly the David next week and may just shock the world.
