Jacksonville – It was cloudy and windy and chilly when I arrived this morning. The sun is trying to peek through, but as we speak it has been a losing battle. Take that, Florida Chamber of Commerce!
A few minutes ago, Greg McGarity noted a singer at midfield practicing Our National Anthem. He asked me who it was. I didn’t know. Someone said, “It’s the guy from Hall & Oates.”
I said, “Daryl Hall?”
Nope. The other one. The lesser half. The short guy with dark hair, not the tall one with the blond flip.
Your anthem singer: John Oates. I have no idea why.
A Wikipedia check indicates he was born in New York, went to Temple and lives in Aspen. If he has a connection to Georgia, Florida or Jacksonville, I’m unaware of it. But enough about him.
Georgia needs to win today. Georgia has lost 18 of the past 21 to Florida. Florida hasn’t been very impressive under Will Muschamp, but Florida wasn’t very impressive under Ron Zook and it beat Georgia twice. But you know all that already.
Something you didn’t know: Florida quarterback John Brantley, who was injured against Alabama three weeks ago but who’s listed as the starter on the flip card, is not warming up. Media members say he was out earlier, but he’s not there now. Florida writers are incredulous.
Further ado: Brantley starts at quarterback after not partaking of warmups. Weird.
At this moment, I have nothing of consequence — or inconsequence — to add. I invite you to join the pregame festivities, such as they are, and stick around for the game itself. And if I find anyone who knows why John Oates is here today, I’ll let you know.

Sad to say…………… the two teams could COMBINE their rosters and it STILL couldn’t beat the winner of next week’s BAMA/LSU game in the title game. The whole SEC EAST should be relegated to Conference USA for next year. I doubt Richt wants any more of O’Leary though.

When our receivers caught the ball, the UF defenders are all over us. When UF receivers catch a pass, our defenders are 10 to 15 feet away. This is systematic. It must be how our kids are coached. We recruit from the same areas.

Georgia is out coached in every single game they play with equal talent. It’s not that the guys they have can’t do the job per se…. it’s that they haven’t. They haven’t looked well coached since 2005.
The players look like they don’t know how to tackle or where to be. The safeties are constantly horrific and special teams is ghastly.
Mark Richt has to be fired after this game no matter what. You just can’t run a program that makes so many mental mistakes on such a constant basis.

If we come out at the beginning of the 2nd half, take the KO and score, we might have a chance.
That might ignite our defense to play harder and stop UF’s passing game, and hopefully our special teams will play better; that can’t be any worse.
I’m no coach, but you think that maybe we should start kicking the ball out of the endzone preventing a runback might be a game plan?
This game’s not over, but I’m not very optimistic; just hopeful.

whatever This Florida team is absolutely terrible. It is Georgia that has made so many mistakes that have allowed Fla is be up by 10. Florida has absolutely nothing but speed and cannot run up the middle. Georgia needs to hit Brantley on every play- he willl not finish the game. And just run the ball down their throat- thay cannot stop the run.

CMR and staff never cease to amaze me. Every big game, they start off using the LEAST effective strategy possible. Boise…start off in the no huddle. Finally get it right against SC and run the I-formation. Fla…4 WR’s on the roster, FLA weak against the run, start off passing. Finally start running late 1st quarter. AMAZING.

It seems pretty obvious that we still actually have a chance to beat this Florida team, but I doubt our coaches will make the correct adjustments, or the right decisions.
I hope we will (I’ll never cheer for our opponents), but win, or lose, I hope we get a real coaching staff.
At the half, we’re lucky to be in the game, and it’s obvious that Florida has more going for it than some realized going into the game.
It’s obvious, too, that we “should” be better than this half-crippled Florida team, but we’re not.
Where are the Mark Richt fanboys? Isn’t it time to hear from “the supporters?”

Did I miss it when we tried to block the punt out of the end zone? If we didn’t try to block it, why not? Oh, I forgot, in order to know how to block a punt, you have to practice blocking a punt, and have a (Special Teams) coach explain how not to rough the kicker.
