Jacksonville – It was cloudy and windy and chilly when I arrived this morning. The sun is trying to peek through, but as we speak it has been a losing battle. Take that, Florida Chamber of Commerce!
A few minutes ago, Greg McGarity noted a singer at midfield practicing Our National Anthem. He asked me who it was. I didn’t know. Someone said, “It’s the guy from Hall & Oates.”
I said, “Daryl Hall?”
Nope. The other one. The lesser half. The short guy with dark hair, not the tall one with the blond flip.
Your anthem singer: John Oates. I have no idea why.
A Wikipedia check indicates he was born in New York, went to Temple and lives in Aspen. If he has a connection to Georgia, Florida or Jacksonville, I’m unaware of it. But enough about him.
Georgia needs to win today. Georgia has lost 18 of the past 21 to Florida. Florida hasn’t been very impressive under Will Muschamp, but Florida wasn’t very impressive under Ron Zook and it beat Georgia twice. But you know all that already.
Something you didn’t know: Florida quarterback John Brantley, who was injured against Alabama three weeks ago but who’s listed as the starter on the flip card, is not warming up. Media members say he was out earlier, but he’s not there now. Florida writers are incredulous.
Further ado: Brantley starts at quarterback after not partaking of warmups. Weird.
At this moment, I have nothing of consequence — or inconsequence — to add. I invite you to join the pregame festivities, such as they are, and stick around for the game itself. And if I find anyone who knows why John Oates is here today, I’ll let you know.

Mike blah blah blah blah tell me Mike how good you feel about your team this year. This is the worst gator team I have seen since before UM ; worse even than last year and that says alot. How proud you must be this year. And you still have a beat down coming in gville from FSU! AGAIN!!!

As a combat veteran…why don’t you pick up a weapon and serve instwad of letting someone else do it for you. Of course your candy-a## couldn’t make it in the Coast Guard/

As much as I hated to see the Gators lose, it is good to see this rivalry heating back up. Both teams have a lot of good young talent coming back and next year’s game should be another nail-biter. And that’s what the Cocktail Party should be.

Well Larry I am back! You know what! If you can’t tell when someone is just having some fun then I am sorry. Any intelligent person would know that I was not serious. I apologize for upsetting you. I am very thankful for the men and women that served and have served this country so we can get on blogs like this and poke some fun and that is what is was. I have never carried a weapon for this country and for that I will always regret. I did lose one of my best friends in the Vietnam War. So don’t tell me how I should conduct myself. Like I said any intelligent person or Vet knows I was not serious. Yea maybe that is not something I should joke about but you know what, many veterans that didn’t make it home gave me that right and for that I will always be grateful.

I think CMR get’s a three year extension but the one that I want to see McGarity lock down for at least 3 years is Grantham. We will be in the top 5 Nationally ranked on defense next year. Pay Grantham whatever it takes. Also , it is apparent that no coach on our team has enough experience to coach the special teams. McGarity needs to hire a special teams coach.

We haven’t done a thing…..zip.
So calm down. Beating FL is always great but it doesn’t signify anything for us.

I can imagine the off-the-charts festivities in Athens now. And I know that the Dawgs will get an awesome welcome when they return to the campus after beating the archrival Gators. This was a win that UGA fans everywhere wanted probably most of all this season. This special occasion deserves to be celebrated and savored. I have no doubt that’s what will be happening long into the night. And it will only intensify if Clemson beats Tech and Tennessee topples South Carolina.

Do not lock down Todd grantham, do not extend CMR. TG is bad, it’s been masked by wins against bad teams including one destroyed by Alabama, destroyed by LSU, beaten by a Auburn team who benched their QB half way through and tonight they lose to UGA with plenty of chances to put the game away but their injured and lost QB threw the ball to receivers who never were looking.
I mean who was frightened with 5 left and UF with the ball on our side of the field and their QB wiffs worse than Walsh and Butler. That wasn’t defense, that was a lousy team with a great two decade drawing to a close. No wonder Auburn is excited to move to the SEC East and Bama is doing all it can to stop that from happening. This is the weak side. Don’t get excited by a weak schedule, the last thing you CMR lovers should want is the SEC Championship game. I don’t mind it, if it gets rid of CMR.

Hahaha. Glad all you chest pounding, AH dog nation represenatives on here were able to get by a banged up Florida team. Hahaha. While THE GEORGIA TECH YELLOW JACKETS totally dominated the #5 ranked team in the nation (which had far more talent and depth than us) with our “2 star players”, “gimmick, high school offense” and “80 year old defensive coordinator”. See you soon doggies. You may beat us but you will have to play the game of your life. There is NO WAY that you have more talent than Clemson.
