Jacksonville – It was cloudy and windy and chilly when I arrived this morning. The sun is trying to peek through, but as we speak it has been a losing battle. Take that, Florida Chamber of Commerce!
A few minutes ago, Greg McGarity noted a singer at midfield practicing Our National Anthem. He asked me who it was. I didn’t know. Someone said, “It’s the guy from Hall & Oates.”
I said, “Daryl Hall?”
Nope. The other one. The lesser half. The short guy with dark hair, not the tall one with the blond flip.
Your anthem singer: John Oates. I have no idea why.
A Wikipedia check indicates he was born in New York, went to Temple and lives in Aspen. If he has a connection to Georgia, Florida or Jacksonville, I’m unaware of it. But enough about him.
Georgia needs to win today. Georgia has lost 18 of the past 21 to Florida. Florida hasn’t been very impressive under Will Muschamp, but Florida wasn’t very impressive under Ron Zook and it beat Georgia twice. But you know all that already.
Something you didn’t know: Florida quarterback John Brantley, who was injured against Alabama three weeks ago but who’s listed as the starter on the flip card, is not warming up. Media members say he was out earlier, but he’s not there now. Florida writers are incredulous.
Further ado: Brantley starts at quarterback after not partaking of warmups. Weird.
At this moment, I have nothing of consequence — or inconsequence — to add. I invite you to join the pregame festivities, such as they are, and stick around for the game itself. And if I find anyone who knows why John Oates is here today, I’ll let you know.

Coraline……..btw what kind of name is that? Athens has been ranked the number 1 college town in the nation. Our graduation rate for athletes is great and getting better. If you are a UF fan I will admit that next to Vanderbilt UF has the best academics in the SEC but UGA is right behind you and gaining ground. Just ask some of the other SEC students where their favorite road trip game is and they will tell you Athens….great music, food and beautiful women…which is one area you would not improve if you ever came.

Georgia’s football team is an embasrrassment to the great Georgia teams of the past. This program has taken a once proud BULLDAWG nation and created a weak, piss-pooor excuse for an SEC team! Mark Richt should be totally ashamed at trying to pose as an SEC coach.
If my son was on the Georgia defense I would have pulled him off the field and shot his mother! No man or DAWG should have to be associated with such a sorry excuse of a defense. My high school team could have beeaten this defense. It’s a joke! When are we going to wake up!?
This blogs slowness is right in line with the G
eorgia defines! Just plane sorry!*****************************************

Granite that tonight wasn’t the prettiest win in UGA football games. Any team has problems that have to be addressed from week to week. There is no need to try to convince people on this board, because they are all qualified football coaches, however, when you step on the field in the SEC or any level of college the game changes. Coaches can only coach so much try to best prepare them for the upcoming games. If the team was not prepared, then you can start blaming it on the coaching staff, but you can’t place the blame on Richt if the players just aren’t having their game. That’s why you call it a team for each of them to pick the others up and make the best out of the game, which UGA did tonight!! College players, yes are having a paid way through school which makes everyone want to think they should perform like pros, however have to do a lot more than that while balancing school with football. Notice that UGA has placed emphasis on graduation rate among athletes and coaches are held to a degree of responsibility making sure of that. Throw all this into the game, you can start noticing why players lag behind some on the field. If it was just as easy as putting pads on and focusing on football then it would be different. Administration has different priorities than us as fans do. We put higher expectations on players, who are really just 18-22 year olds, that just may not be mature enough to handle everything that is expected out of them.
Tonight’s win is a win. Many of you who want to call for Richt’s dismissal, that’s your right to do, but you are hurting the UGA recruitment and future of the Dawg program. It’s not productive as us dawg fans and alumni to always bash our dawgs! If you are a true Dawg then you will remain united behind whoever is the coach, player or whomever that participates in the game. Let’s use our wins, our talent and the great players we have to motivate them for the next opponents stand behind them.
Proud to be a dawg fan and alumni. I may not agree with the plays that are called or agree with particular coaches, but I don’t trash my team. Lets go Dawg nation and quit giving Georgia Tech people reasons to keep poking us about our program

Murray had his worst game of the year.
42% completion was lowest, 99 QB rating was lowest & an INT for good measure.
But Jarvis Jones wouldn’t let this team lose.

It’s common knowledge and an unquestioned fact that UGA head football coach Mark Richt has brought shame on the state of Georgia and made an embarrassing laughingstock of the state’s largest university. Even the most avid UGA fans understand this even when they won’t acknowledge it, bless their hearts.
The most embarrassing thing is the win-at-any-price mentality of Richt, with cheating, recruiting of low-intelligence jerks who barely graduated from high school, and tolerating immoral and unethical activities by both players and coaches. Even with all this, he still can’t win.
Richt is a product of the lawless environments of the University of Miami and Florida State University, where he learned well how to conduct himself in the most tawdry way, while pretending to the world to be a saint. Make no mistake – Richt is in coaching purely for the millions of dollars that have been wasted on him, and the millions more he will add until someone in Athens has the integrity and intestinal fortitude to run him out of town.
A truly shameful situation, especially since all Georgians, including UGA alumni and fans, have to live under this shadow of infamy.
