Jacksonville – It was cloudy and windy and chilly when I arrived this morning. The sun is trying to peek through, but as we speak it has been a losing battle. Take that, Florida Chamber of Commerce!
A few minutes ago, Greg McGarity noted a singer at midfield practicing Our National Anthem. He asked me who it was. I didn’t know. Someone said, “It’s the guy from Hall & Oates.”
I said, “Daryl Hall?”
Nope. The other one. The lesser half. The short guy with dark hair, not the tall one with the blond flip.
Your anthem singer: John Oates. I have no idea why.
A Wikipedia check indicates he was born in New York, went to Temple and lives in Aspen. If he has a connection to Georgia, Florida or Jacksonville, I’m unaware of it. But enough about him.
Georgia needs to win today. Georgia has lost 18 of the past 21 to Florida. Florida hasn’t been very impressive under Will Muschamp, but Florida wasn’t very impressive under Ron Zook and it beat Georgia twice. But you know all that already.
Something you didn’t know: Florida quarterback John Brantley, who was injured against Alabama three weeks ago but who’s listed as the starter on the flip card, is not warming up. Media members say he was out earlier, but he’s not there now. Florida writers are incredulous.
Further ado: Brantley starts at quarterback after not partaking of warmups. Weird.
At this moment, I have nothing of consequence — or inconsequence — to add. I invite you to join the pregame festivities, such as they are, and stick around for the game itself. And if I find anyone who knows why John Oates is here today, I’ll let you know.

Muschamp has looked good in the past because he’s had great Head coach’s around him. He was standing on a Island tonight….and his D got schooled by Bobo. Not a pretty sight for a Gator.

Wow, 53 pages of comments. Do you think there was some interest in this game?
I say fire the special teams coach. Great game by the defense. Looks to me that Murray has regressed this year. A lot of miscommunications between him and the recievers. An ugly win but I’ll take it.

Richt better make Walsh kick FGs 24 hrs a day until next weeks game. And run kick coverage 24 hrs a day and work on Murray’s accuracy
other than those … a win’s a win

I don’t care if LSU or Alabama crush us in the SEC Championship. I just want to be there and say bring ‘em on. It will still be good for recruiting and set the stage for next year when we should definitely be a contender based on the young players and true freshmen that are standouts this year…..add Chris Conley to that list!

Congratulations Mutts…you just barely beat a very mediocre Florida team. Bu remember, even a broken clock is right twice a day. Florida still owns Georgia, and we’ll start another long win streak next year.

Fire Bobo! Fire Richt. Hire special teams coach. Keep Grantham! What is wrong with Walsh? He can’t make a 20 yard field goal. I”m so happy we won, but we need help. Muschamp will be fired after next season. He is worse than Richt, that is saying a lot! Richard Samuel is awesome. Isiah Crowell is a not so tough. He gets hurt on every play and takes himself out of the game. A bruised shin? Gimme a break! Feels good to beat Florida though!

angela – Are you one of those soccer moms? How many plays have you ever called? How many kids have you recruited? How many press conferences have you done. How many assistant coaches have you hired and fired? How many kids have you had to kick off a team or discipline knowing that this is probably the highlight of their lives? How many game plans have you developed. How many times have you decided to check off to another play because the Defense changed? If you have done all these then you are qualified to evaluate Coach Richt.

Good game. . . but have some class if you are going to leave a post.
Some do, but most don’t. We won and still own the series record. You can
always dissect out a portion of the games played, but we actually still own
you. So, unless that changes, get your facts correct. . .

The D won this game for us and Samual deserves credit too.

Georgia’s football team is an embasrrassment to the great Georgia teams of the past. This program has taken a once proud BULLDAWG nation and created a weak, piss-pooor excuse for an SEC team! Mark Richt should be totally ashamed at trying to pose as an SEC coach.
If my son was on the Georgia defense I would have pulled him off the field and shot his mother! No man or DAWG should have to be associated with such a sorry excuse of a defense. My high school team could have beeaten this defense. It’s a joke! When are we going to wake up!?
This blogs slowness is right in line with the G
eorgia defines! Just plane sorry!

Truth is, Florida looked terrible at times when it comes to penalties and their failure to convert on fourth down. But Georgia was able to pound the ball and win it at the end. Despite the two missed field goals, you gotta be happy about a team that has dominated you if you are a Georgia fan.

A few facts about your UGA that you might consider:
1. UGA is the nation’s #1 party school. That means that UGA has the highest number of drunks on campus of all the colleges and universities in the U.S. These drunks keep the Athens-Clarke County jail full, and provide full employment to law enforcement personnel, bail bondsmen, and attorneys. Really something to be proud of, isn’t it.
2. UGA athletes are some of the most illiterate morons in the country. Most of them take remedial studies, which is the stuff that most kids learn by the seventh grade. But not your dummies, who you laughingly call student-athletes. The very few who actually graduate have worthless diplomas in worthless studies that no employer is looking for.
3. Even your fans are trashy, stupid drunks. Take a look at what your campus looks like after a home game, and check the number of DUIs the police issue between Athens and Atlanta after a game.
4. UGA athletes must think that ankle monitoring bracelets are bling, they see so many of them in the locker room.
A really miserable, sorry place, and a huge embarrassment to all Georgians.

Frankly Muschamp is into posturing- has been from the beginning. After Bama anniliated Florida he said “we will fix a few things we saw tonight- because we will face Bama again this year”!!! He meant in the SEC championship game- it was already so obvious that this Florida team is not gonna be very good. Weiss won’t stay at Florida- he will be fired quickly.

All right alot of you are idiots. First off we don’t have a special teams coach. 2nd Warren Belin was our kickoff coverage last year and we were best in sec but he left for another team. 3rd so many of you are crying that we didn’t win by 50; all you need to do is win, it doesn’t matter what the score is. I am not a big fan of mike bobo but he makes good calls, he is just very inconsistant.

Our defense was great today, especially in the 2nd half and against the run. Florida killed themselves with mistakes, but they also wouldn’t have been in the game in the 4th quarter if the 2 long returns didn’t set them up for scores!
