Update: Live from almost-sunny Jax, and here’s Brantley!

Jacksonville – It was cloudy and windy and chilly when I arrived this morning. The sun is trying to peek through, but as we speak it has been a losing battle. Take that, Florida Chamber of Commerce!

A few minutes ago, Greg McGarity noted a singer at midfield practicing Our National Anthem. He asked me who it was. I didn’t know. Someone said, “It’s the guy from Hall & Oates.”

I said, “Daryl Hall?”

Nope. The other one. The lesser half. The short guy with dark hair, not the tall one with the blond flip.

Your anthem singer: John Oates. I have no idea why.

A Wikipedia check indicates he was born in New York, went to Temple and lives in Aspen. If he has a connection to Georgia, Florida or Jacksonville, I’m unaware of it. But enough about him.

Georgia needs to win today. Georgia has lost 18 of the past 21 to Florida. Florida hasn’t been very impressive under Will Muschamp, but Florida wasn’t very impressive under Ron Zook and it beat Georgia twice. But you know all that already.

Something you didn’t know: Florida quarterback John Brantley, who was injured against Alabama three weeks ago but who’s listed as the starter on the flip card, is not warming up. Media members say he was out earlier, but he’s not there now. Florida writers are incredulous.

Further ado: Brantley starts at quarterback after not partaking of warmups. Weird.

At this moment, I have nothing of consequence — or inconsequence — to add. I invite you to join the pregame festivities, such as they are, and stick around for the game itself. And if I find anyone who knows why John Oates is here today, I’ll let you know.

Everybody blasting Bobo, but Gary Danielson kept talking about the good calls in the game. I have alot of respect for Danielson. He knows the game. The bottom line is that the players need to execute. We should have had two more TD passes that Murrary made terrible throws on. The two missed field goals and the punting game was terrible. Both kickers choked. I believe Walsh’s struggles effected Butler. Good win and great job by the defense. Seconday played the best game I have seen them play in along time.

WE beat UF and thats what everyone wanted but, you still have complete morons with their Fire Richt crap on here. You guys are complete idiots. He made the changes on defense and now we have maybe the 3rd best defense in the SEC and you still say Fire Richt. I got something for you. Go get on that Bama and LSU bandwagon you morons.

Amen! He won the game and the defense played great, go dawgs and thank God for Jarvis Jones!

Congrats to UGA. That was one of the ugliest games I have seen this year though. Brantley should not have been playing. They had no chance with him in there.

I’ll take going to play Bama or LSU any day. I dont care what the possible outcome is. Saying that you want us to lose to UF and USC win so they could be embarrassed is the biggest mentally challenged statement I’ve ever seen on here. All you can ask for is a chance to strap on the helmet and go play for it.

THE OMMNISCIENT BUDDHA SAID THAT GEORGIA WOULD BE ONE OF THE WORST COACHED OFFENSIVE DIVISION ONE TEAMS IN THE HISTORY OF THE SPORT TODAY, BUT THE REASONABLE COMPETENCE OF THEIR DEFENSE WOULD BE ENOUGH TO BEAT AN EVEN LESS CHRISTIAN TEAM THAT FLORIDA IS SINCE TEBOW LEFT.

I’m so sorry….

Murray made some terrible throws, but he made the clutch throw on the last drive and converted 2 4th downs for touchdowns, so get off his back! What about that guarantee Muschamp??

Murray was pretty bad himself today – 15-35 for just 169 yards – against the 80th passing defense team in the country.

And now the kool-aid is flowing thinking we are on our way to great things is being talked about

Give me a break people. That game we did our best to give away

Florida will be looking for a new coach in 3 years. They will have NO patience. They will give him this year, but no more, and HE STILL needs a QB( Brantley gone) and they have NO proven SEC type backs. He’s toast.

What a great win! Gators, no trash talk from this Dawg, y’all put up a tremendous fight and made us earn it. I’m proud of the D for a tremendous game, proud of the coaching staff for the aggressive call at the end passing on third down instead of playing it safe and so proud of Murray and Conley for making the play. It’s great… to be.. a Georgia Bulldog!

Got to give it to Richard Samuel. He was the difference in the game. Only Georgia offensive player who played above his usual self. Gutty performance. He goes down with Theron Sapp as the new drought-breaker.

1. i am not a hater —richt is a decent man JUST NOT A DECENT COACH
2. the game should have never been close as the 99 td return should never have happened
the 4th down 19 yd td should never have happened —3 pts only
our field goal kicker should have added 6 extra points to us
that means 30-14 at worst
3. murray is 2nd rate qb —-missed 8 or 9 passes in a row—overthrew open recievers
4. richt is not up to the job and this win just keeps us in limbo without a real coach able to win a NC

whatacrew

I was actually hoping – believe it or not – that UGA would lose this game so that SC would win the East – because this pathetic UGA team (which barely beat a very bad and wounded FL team – what is that? 4 straight losses by FL??) will get embarrassed by AL or LSU

Hey idiot they won in spite of quite possibly the worst special teams performance in a game i have seen. If they would have played decent special teams they would have won by 3 touchdowns… and they held the opposing team to negative -30 yards rushing… Spare us your crap – not a kool aid drinker; but, a hell of a performance by the defense for a change… and they finally finished a god damn ballgame for a change!!!

Conley and Bennett really played well. The TD catch by Bennett on 4th down may have been the play of the game. UGA’s receivers are catching the ball.

Terry, good point. In the past this team would have gone down 17-3 in Jacksonville and folded. Proud of them not giving up and coming back. Last year was a close game that we lost, this year is a close game that we won. Things are starting to change in JAcksonville.

Game Summary:

~Good win for the embattled Mark Richt
~Georgia has their best overall talent in years.
~Aaron Murray is overated–good, smart kid, but inacurate and a tad too short for today’s athletes.
~Georgia’s special teams may be the worst in college football
~Florida needs a QB too.
~Both GA & FLA pretty equal talent, but a step down from the elite.
~Crowell just may have an attitude problem
~Georgia’s defense looked it’s best today in years.
