Update: Live from almost-sunny Jax, and here’s Brantley!

Jacksonville – It was cloudy and windy and chilly when I arrived this morning. The sun is trying to peek through, but as we speak it has been a losing battle. Take that, Florida Chamber of Commerce!

A few minutes ago, Greg McGarity noted a singer at midfield practicing Our National Anthem. He asked me who it was. I didn’t know. Someone said, “It’s the guy from Hall & Oates.”

I said, “Daryl Hall?”

Nope. The other one. The lesser half. The short guy with dark hair, not the tall one with the blond flip.

Your anthem singer: John Oates. I have no idea why.

A Wikipedia check indicates he was born in New York, went to Temple and lives in Aspen. If he has a connection to Georgia, Florida or Jacksonville, I’m unaware of it. But enough about him.

Georgia needs to win today. Georgia has lost 18 of the past 21 to Florida. Florida hasn’t been very impressive under Will Muschamp, but Florida wasn’t very impressive under Ron Zook and it beat Georgia twice. But you know all that already.

Something you didn’t know: Florida quarterback John Brantley, who was injured against Alabama three weeks ago but who’s listed as the starter on the flip card, is not warming up. Media members say he was out earlier, but he’s not there now. Florida writers are incredulous.

Further ado: Brantley starts at quarterback after not partaking of warmups. Weird.

At this moment, I have nothing of consequence — or inconsequence — to add. I invite you to join the pregame festivities, such as they are, and stick around for the game itself. And if I find anyone who knows why John Oates is here today, I’ll let you know.

Truly pathetic. If is awful to watch Georgia’s players looking so helpless and woefully under-coached, staggering, hesitating, frantic, not knowing what to do, all because the overpaid adults have not done their job teaching and helping them. The coach for Vanderbilt would do a better job than Richt and others.

If you can fire a staff at half time of a game…. yeah, I think it’s just about warranted here.

What a performance by bobo and CMR. They both need to go win or lose!!! Neither is good enough to coach in this league anymore. CMR’s stupidity about special teams alone should get him fired. We’ll never beat FL or become a top team in the sec w/this crew of coaches. Bobo’s first series on offense was awful. Geez when will we get a decent coach.

Aaron Murray u suck. Todd Grantham u suck. Mike Bobo u suck. Georgia Bulldogs u suck. If CMR wants to be the fall guy for assembling an incompetant coaching staff dont let the door hit u where the good Lord split u. Why is it UGA can make mediocre teams look like BCS contenders? Its time to to get a coach who is willing and able to light a fire under the player’s butts. Michael Adams please pull the plug now to stop the hemorrhaging. I am a season ticket holder and I pay good money for what? Some of the best recruits in the nation to play like they are clueless. They play out of position and then look to the sidelines wondering what the hell is going on. This year was setting up great for Georgia to have a chance to win the east only to get to Jacksonville and watch our hopes go down the toilet. Florida has owned Georgia even when Georgia had better players and it looks like this year its going to be more of the same.

A moment of silence

October 29th, 2011
4:59 pm

Attention, everyone, especially dawgtards. We will now observe a moment of silence in memory of Saint Jan Kemp, the courageous lady who exposed the shameful practices at UGA that were initiated and carried out by slimeball Vince Dooley. Dooley’s image as a coach and a nice guy were forever shattered during the trial, not to mention the one million dollars that dawgtards had to pay Saint Jan. These practices of recruiting morons and coddling them for four years, then tossing them out like garbage, are still going on, but at least the world knows what’s happening in Athens now.

And now, a moment of silence…
