Update: Live from almost-sunny Jax, and here’s Brantley!

Jacksonville – It was cloudy and windy and chilly when I arrived this morning. The sun is trying to peek through, but as we speak it has been a losing battle. Take that, Florida Chamber of Commerce!

A few minutes ago, Greg McGarity noted a singer at midfield practicing Our National Anthem. He asked me who it was. I didn’t know. Someone said, “It’s the guy from Hall & Oates.”

I said, “Daryl Hall?”

Nope. The other one. The lesser half. The short guy with dark hair, not the tall one with the blond flip.

Your anthem singer: John Oates. I have no idea why.

A Wikipedia check indicates he was born in New York, went to Temple and lives in Aspen. If he has a connection to Georgia, Florida or Jacksonville, I’m unaware of it. But enough about him.

Georgia needs to win today. Georgia has lost 18 of the past 21 to Florida. Florida hasn’t been very impressive under Will Muschamp, but Florida wasn’t very impressive under Ron Zook and it beat Georgia twice. But you know all that already.

Something you didn’t know: Florida quarterback John Brantley, who was injured against Alabama three weeks ago but who’s listed as the starter on the flip card, is not warming up. Media members say he was out earlier, but he’s not there now. Florida writers are incredulous.

Further ado: Brantley starts at quarterback after not partaking of warmups. Weird.

At this moment, I have nothing of consequence — or inconsequence — to add. I invite you to join the pregame festivities, such as they are, and stick around for the game itself. And if I find anyone who knows why John Oates is here today, I’ll let you know.

As a huge Richt supporter, I know all too well how important this game is to his future. I say UGA 31-17.

Trap game of the day, Clemson -3.5 at Tech. Seems way too easy which means they probably won’t cover. The boys in Vegas know what they are doing.

Hi Mark….Glad to talk with you and everyone. Excited about the game. Hoping that the DAWGS will win. Would love to see Murray get in a rhythm early passing. Think that we will have to roll him out some or use some quick short passes…Fla D-line pretty good…

What say you ?

Sad to say…………… the two teams could COMBINE their rosters and it STILL couldn’t beat the winner of next week’s BAMA/LSU game in the title game. The whole SEC EAST should be relegated to Conference USA for next year. I doubt Richt wants any more of O’Leary though.

The Big Game Is Looming Ahead
Filling Dawg Fans With Ripples Of Dread
The Gators Will Win
And We’ll Lose Again
Because Our Dear UGA Is Dead

Yes, Because Our Dear UGA Is Dead
And We’ve Let It Get Into Our Head
The Coaches Are Great
The Players Can’t Wait
But Alas… Our Dear UGA Is Dead

Now Russ Does His Best To Fill In
And He Wins Us A Game Now And Then
But He Balked On The Taters
And When Faced With The Gators
I’m Afraid He’ll Just Blow It Again

A bold prediction post; which I don’t usually do:

UGA – 34
UF – 13

I just feel it this year, though I’d take and be happy with a 1-point win.

Stay safe fans of both schools.

Go Dawgs! and Beat those Gators!

Mr Bradley a little comparison for you:

2007 UGA team: Sophomore quarterback, Freshman Running back, early season loss to South Carolina, Struggled with a pathetic Vanderbilt team, controversy at end of Vanderbilt game. Beat Florida. Finished regular season 10-2.

2011 UGA team: Sophomore quarterback, Freshman Running back, early season loss to South Carolina, Struggled with a pathetic Vanderbilt team, controversy at end of Vanderbilt game.

See the pattern?

Trinity and ST. X will meet in the earlier rounds of the playoffs because they have played against each other in the finals so often , they have been put into a bracket to ensure that only one of them {if they win } can reach to the title game.

Hey Mark-

How is the wind? Any big gust of wind (30 + mph)swirling in the stadium, yet? I assume the wind would be coming in from the Northwest. If so, would NW winds be sideline to sideline or goal to goal?
