Mark Richt took chances today and outcoached Muschamp and Weis. Georgia looked to have the better players and the better plan. Murray and special teams must improve for them to win out. Completing one pass in 2nd half is not going to get it. Still, a great night for Dawgs and Richt. Maybe all of the ‘hot seat’ talk will stop now for a few weeks! On a bad note, the Techies look like the 1995 Nebraska Cornhuskers right now.

Don’t drink the koolaid my fellow Georgia fans. We let a horrible, horrible Florida team score 20 points, we barely won by 4 points. This is still the headcoach who year after year does not have one of the most talented teams in the Nation ready to play a complete season. How many years have we lost to start the season, look badly under prepared, then have average play the rest of the year, get lucky to win most of the remaining games and we somehow always seem to forget the beginning of each season. Well, I haven’t forgotten, never will. I have not forgotten that Richts 3 wins out of 11 against Florida have all come when Florida has been very bad. People say look at his over all job, well I do look and I see underachieving year after year with what he has to work with. No, I say do not forget the big picture because of this one win. I am proud the Dawgs won today, but it was in no way an vendication of Richt and his inability.

I am glad for the bulldogs sixth win in a row from a very young team, but this is another typical display of poor coaching by the bulldog staff, after nearly losing the game to Vandy because of terrible special teams play including a 98 yard k.o. return, a fake punt given up, and a blocked punt nearly returned for a touchdown…Richt follows that pathetic effort against Vandy nonetheless, by an even worse effort, which is almost impossible looking at that kickoff for td, fake punt, and blocked punt ALL IN ONE GAME!!! Yet Richt tops it with the opening kickoff taken to midfield (taken back by a hold), another kickoff taken 99 yards to the house, another kickoff taken 70 yards for a field goal, two missed field goals, and three horrid punts by Butler, and you have the WORST SPECIAL TEAMS in the NATION!!! Like I said we won 24-20, and this WILL be the start of a streak against FLA , I can feel it. However, this horrid special teams play that cost us the SC game, and almost cost us the Fla and Vandy games HAS TO STOP if we hope to play up to SEC championship caliber. I am majorly concerned about Murray and Crowell as well. It should be obvious Murray is NOT THE ANSWER!!! Nowhere near the answer, he is not a big game college QB, that is a FACT!! This is his FIRST WIN against a winning college team in his whole CAREER, and he didnt even win it…the defense did, he just didnt lose it…I mean 15-34 (thats sad), I believe he missed his last 10 in a row during the fourth quarter….he’s not cutting it, time to give Mason a chance. Crowell cant take the pounding of the SEC, he is weak and is injured on every other run it seems like, he has missed at least a hundred snaps he could have taken this year because he is :”too hurt” to continue, yes i question some of his injuries and his heart not to play in some big snaps this year. Yes he is a freshman, but he is majorly a wuss!!!!

I could talk about our blown opportunities.
I could talk about Crowell’s durability (or seemingly lack thereof).
I could talk about Murray’s struggles with accuracy.
I could talk about our disatrous special teams (especially kickoff coverage).
I could talk about Bobo’s bad playcalling (luckily Conley and Bennett bailed him out).
But I won’t talk about those things, because we beat Florida and right now, that’s all that matters.

Some of you guys are Debbie Downers tonight! Good Lord we have lost to the freaking Gators 18 of the last 21 times! We have had good teams lose down there and bad teams lose down there. Our guys were down 14 points in the first half and didn’t quit. The Georgia D is demonstrably better this year. You guys are also being hard on a 18-19 year old true freshman that was asked to come in and be the starter from day one in the SEC! Good Lord, he is banged up! The question we need to be asking is what is going on with Boo Malcome. We all watched the game and we are not blind to the special team’s problems, but if you are a Dawg – enjoy tonight!!!

Granite that tonight wasn’t the prettiest win in UGA football games. Any team has problems that have to be addressed from week to week. There is no need to try to convince people on this board, because they are all qualified football coaches, however, when you step on the field in the SEC or any level of college the game changes. Coaches can only coach so much try to best prepare them for the upcoming games. If the team was not prepared, then you can start blaming it on the coaching staff, but you can’t place the blame on Richt if the players just aren’t having their game. That’s why you call it a team for each of them to pick the others up and make the best out of the game, which UGA did tonight!! College players, yes are having a paid way through school which makes everyone want to think they should perform like pros, however have to do a lot more than that while balancing school with football. Notice that UGA has placed emphasis on graduation rate among athletes and coaches are held to a degree of responsibility making sure of that. Throw all this into the game, you can start noticing why players lag behind some on the field. If it was just as easy as putting pads on and focusing on football then it would be different. Administration has different priorities than us as fans do. We put higher expectations on players, who are really just 18-22 year olds, that just may not be mature enough to handle everything that is expected out of them.
Tonight’s win is a win. Many of you who want to call for Richt’s dismissal, that’s your right to do, but you are hurting the UGA recruitment and future of the Dawg program. It’s not productive as us dawg fans and alumni to always bash our dawgs! If you are a true Dawg then you will remain united behind whoever is the coach, player or whomever that participates in the game. Let’s use our wins, our talent and the great players we have to motivate them for the next opponents stand behind them.
Proud to be a dawg fan and alumni. I may not agree with the plays that are called or agree with particular coaches, but I don’t trash my team. Lets go Dawg nation and quit giving Georgia Tech people reasons to keep poking us about our program.

UF has their worst team in two decades and we barely won.
They say a win is a win and we now have 6 in a row – but against whom!?

JB is correct. If SC blows its record this year and we back into The SECC against LSU we will be slaughtered.

The worst thing that could happen is for Richt to be here next season and I’m afraid that’s just what will happen.

By the way, GT has a team and ironically will give us a tougher time than any SEC Team this regular season in my opinion. In fact, if GT plays like they did today they’ll beat us.

CKgator, we beat the worst Florida team in 20 years after giving up 10 points off of kickoffs and missing two easy field goals and surrendering field position with unusually bad punting by one of the nation’s best. And still came within a yard of beating you by 11. This game was not nearly as competitive as it looked. UF’s offense was completely outclassed in the second half.

You cant be perfect forever your team will have to go through some hard time sooner or later. So to say that Richt is on a down slope is complete b.s. The guy just had a top 5 recruiting class and revamped the strength and conditioning program. What else do you want from him? All anyone cares about is what have you done for me lately? The guy is a very good coach.

At 102-36 after 138 games, Mark Richt has more wins, fewer losses, and a better winning percentage (.739) than any of his predecessors at the same point in their respective careers.

No, the real problem with UGA are the fans, who for some reason think that they are entitled to a team that wins the SEC every year. Those people seem forget how long it was before Richt that we won an SEC title. I like to laugh at them when they complain and say Richt should be fired; fortunately, the people who actually can make that decision are both more intelligent and more rational.

ole dawg, what you are saying is music to the ears of other SEC teams. We have been enormously aided by a easy easy schedule, we only had to play the two worst teams of the SEC West and not one of their 4 best. UT and UF are awful.

We’re awful, we’ve been awful, it’s all being masked by how easy the East is. It’s non existent.

As to who replaced CMR? SEC coach? Think outside of the box. Where did Chizik, Meyer and MIles come from? You are operating off the assumption an SEC coach wants to come to this mess.

Horrible special teams play by Georgia kept Florida in the game, it should have never been that close late in the 4th.

Richt better focus on special teams the rest of the way if we have any hope of going to the SECC Game. These guys look overmatched on kickoffs by almost everyone we play. We got by with it against Florida, not sure that’ll happen against Auburn.

Meanwhile, over the SEC West they’ve got 4 in recent years and UF had 2 but I think it’s safe to say as horrible as they played that two decades of UF dominance in the SEC/SEC East has died. They are horrendous. 0-4? Lost to Alabama bad, lost to LSU worse, lost to Auburn who decided to swap QBs at the half and now we barely beat them.

Wow, nobody will even notice Georgia beat Florida. GT just beat Clemson. GT can beat top 5 teams, when is the last time we beat a top 25 team?

Yeah, Tech is great. Clemson was great. Did you see all of that great passing. Only 7-8 dropped passes. No defense. Yeah, they were the 5th best team in the country.

BTW Athensdawg, we didn’t have a top 5 recruiting class this year. We haven’t had one of those according to ESPN since 2008 and when we did- we were #5.

And what have we done with that? 6-7 last year with a UCF loss? 0-2 to start the easiest schedule in the SEC?

To say everything is fine is what everyone outside of Athens should want to hear.

What we got today was a gift that only means something to a UGA fan but newsflash, UF is now 2-4 in the SEC and we didn’t even earn our W.

Ole dawg, I wouldn’t go so far as to say that Richt is more successful than Dooley. He needs 4 more SEC championships and a national title before he can pull even with Dooley. And Dooley didn’t get the two automatic wins that today’s coaches get, with the I-AA and directional schools. Take the La.-La.’s, Georgia Southern’s, and Idaho State’s off of Richt’s record and I’m pretty sure he doesn’t have a better winning percentage than Dooley.

But we beat Florida today, and for now, that’s good enough for me. I agree we should get off Richt’s back for the time being.

02 – 13-1 probably would have won if the season falls correctly
05 – If DJ doesn’t get hurt we beat UF and probably Auburn as well
07 – Bad loss to USC really hurt us but that team was amazing.

It’s not like UGA has been too far from a BCS NC.

This could easily be billed as “The Inept Bowl”. I can’t recall the last time I saw a more ugly game. Georgia’s Special Teams are anything but Special. Even Butler figured out a way to stink up the field. For a program worth $483,000,000 you’d think we could afford a Special Teams coach. There’s no excuse for such horrendous play.

In the Inept Bowl UGA found a way to stink up the field a little less than Florida, although Aaron Murray tried real hard to keep pace with the Gator’s swankiness. The good news for Georgia fans is taking solace in the fact that Florida flat out sucks, I mean really sucks! I don’t think Galen Hall ever coached a Florida team this bad.

Hats off to Jarvis Jones. He’s been a beast all year and was THE MAN today for Georgia. Without Jones we lose this game, it’s that simple. Grantham made some great adjustments at halftime and stuffed Florida for net 62 yards in the second half. Well Done!

Time to celebrate this much needed victory and get back to the drawing board!

It was not very pretty but it was a win, Special teams were again lacking in effort, Richt must adress special teams concerns, Hire a special teams coach. Murray again had problems hitting receivers, Running game still a concern, Sammuel stepped up made a difference, Crowell may come around but right now he still has a ways to go. This team could have quit after going down 17-3 but to thier credit they didn’t, Defense again again played a great game.

What a joke seeing people on here saying “we beat a down Fla team” or “Fla gave the game away”. . how many years have we been giving the game away down there with turnovers and such?

We beat Florida. I don’t care HOW we won. I wouldn’t have cared if they were up by 6 points and were taking a knee and fumbled, then we scoop and score. A win is a win. A win against florida recently is even more than that.

Happy for the coaches, happy for the players, happy for us, the fans. If you can’t be happy for any of them, sit in your house and cut off the computer. Idiots.

We won, but it looked like a couple of bottom tier teams out there. Muuuray and the defense were average and Brantley played a horrible game. When all you can do is try to pass, expect to lose. Georgia got lucky with one interference call, and Florida did not. Those two calls sealed the game.

tdog- The offense was inconsistent, & the special teams were horrible I’ll admit, but one thing you can’t complain about is the defense. There were put in bad situations several times, & still shut FL down. FL would’ve scored even less if it wasn’t for the special teams. The defense played well & was a big reason why UGA won the game.

I wouldn’t say the defense is stout, that was a 4-4 team. Against the 2 good team UGA has played, they gave up 40+ points a game. UF’s ffense struggles against everybody.

Mark Richt, when not settling for field goals, beat Florida. Chris Rainey, with his girlfriend still alive to witness it, gave the game to Georgia to insure itself of being the worst Florida team in 24 years. Chris Conley really showed us all he is a great receiver. Marlon Brown stepped up. Richard Samuel aimed his body forward. Florida has no offense. None. I never saw a team have so many costly penalties as Florida handed to us to today. That is a miserable Florida team. Aaron Murray won a game over an unranked opponent, threw an interception, was way off target all night long again, and showed some heart out there like he had shown us last season and gutted it out against a good Florida defense. Anytime you beat Florida, it is important. South Carolina won; in fact all the teams we beat all lost. On a day many of those ranked way ahead of us in the polls, lost, we won in JAX. We used to always win in JAX. We do seem headed to my 11-3; I hope so. We cut down on penalties, although we flirt with celebration; and don’t need to take off the scoreboard one of our touchdowns. Good gracious, do we need special teams coaching staff. Against a good team, those would have had us losing handily tonight. We beat a team who has Won 3 Consensus National Championships in the last 14 years, and who has been significantly better than us in our own Division of our own conference the entire Mark Richt era. They are a down team, an unranked, worst Florida team in 24 years. We won. It was known that we would win. This is not a testament to Mark Richt that the game was played in the fashion it was played, by us. Mark Richt needed to win this game to get his record against Florida to the same record he enjoys in his 11 years, against teams who finished in the Top 10. Mark Richt’s win total is not worth your time writing about. We play 14-game seasons nowadays when 10-win seasons in the past, meant that you had lost at most, 1 game. We’ve lost 2 and have at least 1 more loss coming, I hope. I say I hope because South Carolina has a very easy schedule this season too, and we handed that football game to South Carolina on a Silver Platter.

Tavares King and Michael Bennett did well. Aron White drops passes, and always has. Shawn Williams fell on the fumble, and did not look like a dumba** to me, again. If the officials had had their way, Shawn Williams does not get a fumble recovery. In the old days, not having that Chris Rainey fumble, costs us the game – quite obviously. Bacarri Rambo got torched on the TD, and for good measure picked Alec Ogletree; but, he too came up with a fumble recovery and a pass break-up. And, it was Alec Ogletree who caused the fumble. Jarvis Jones had 1 of those 2, and 4 sacks by himself. We need to get some of these kinds on guys on the field on kick-off coverage, like our better opponents do. Have a ST coach, and that would be his 1st action. Brandon Boykin had a good game. Might as well be a hundred years, and in 2005 we ended up not # 1 in The SEC in the polls but # 3 of just SEC teams. 2002 only a 4-loss Auburn ended up in the Coaches’ Poll Top 25 with us. But, we LOST to Florida BOTH of those seasons.

I think we can all agree that the dawgs won despite inept, not so special teams and erratic QB play but to win regardless means that the rest of the team more than made up for these inadequacies.

We have a new “4th and Dumb.” Muschamp completely choked going for it on 4th and long from near midfield with 5:36 still left to play and a chance to pin us deep. You punt the ball, pin the other team deep, and trust your defense to get the ball back.

When we stopped them on 4th and long, which was pretty predictable, and flipped the field position, you just knew we were going to win. What was he thinking?

I measure GA’s wins by how good I feel after the game. Glad we won but I still do not feel good about GA’s Offense and especially special teams. Murray sputtered and bobo’s playcalling stalled. Except for the two TD passes he had a poor passing day. Had one int but it was tipped. I think ga has the worst special teams in the country. After the season CMR better hire a ST coach. Walsh will graduate but need a kicking coach as well. Walsh once had a bright pro future. Doubt he’ll ever recover from his poor senior season. Where the hell is Boo Malcolme??? The D played great except for the lapse in pass coverage by Rambo on FL’s first TD. Yeah, when I look at the way GA played they’re still not ready for prime time.

you know, for years, fla people talked about us keeping Richt, signing him to a 5 year contract and all that.. . . . after numerous delay of game penalties, questionable decisions, and quite a few false starts, it’s nice to see the other side answering the coaching questions.

I’m sure about a year ago though, there would have been quite a few people calling for Muschamp to be HC at UGA. Very happy that did not happen.

Like it or not, the first two games didn’t matter. Carolina runs out of gas as always. Dawgs win out. We won. All the while I was wishing in my head we would lose — to get a new coach — but I was jumping up and down and rooting for my team because I’m a Dawg. I lived in Athens from 5th grade and graduated in the early 80’s. Long gone now, but lucky enough to have witnessed the greatest run UGA ever had. I’m sure I’m not the first person to feel that way. It’s really kind of strange. Even my 11 year old noticed it. I was happy to see a relieved Mark Richt give a post game interview — he’s still a very good guy — and I found myself pulling for him again. If the man can just make a few very needed changes, he can make himself , his players, and all the fans happy. I guess we’ll see. But it feels better to me having gotten of the schnied and beat the Gators, vs. calling for a good man’s job. I hope it all works out.

HAHAHAHA! All of the naysayers are out again. We beat a Florida team that only a year ago had the “GREATEST RECRUITING CLASS IN THE HISTORY OF COLLEGE FOOTBALL” That team had crap loads of talent – a Super Bowl quality offensive coordinator and a commonly called defensive genius for a coach. They lost 2 of those three games to the #1 and #2 teams in the country………..and they had their best QB back and even though he was gimpy he was throwing well. We beat a good team and WE’RE NOT APOLOGIZING FOR THAT! Do we have issues? Yes……..our special teams need a ton of work, our kickers are in a slump and Murray needs to be CONSISTENT. Our defensive team is coming together. As for Tech – THEY BEAT ANOTHER OVERRANKED ACC TEAM JUST LIKE THEY WERE A FEW WEEKS AGO! Clemson? HAHAHAHAHA! They have been giving up boatloads of points on defense to everybody – beating them is not an upset – it’s just the ACC bottom dwellers feeding on each other. But I say, good for them. The same Mark Bradley who downplayed the Falcons beating the Panthers by 2 touchdowns is thrilled by the Dawgs winning that embarrassing display of football in Jacksonville yesterday? Florida is a lousy team that has no semblance of a running game, can’t stop the run, a gimpy QB who couldn’t figure out the 25 second play clock, and to top it off they committed 14 penalties. At one point Brantley was something like 2 for his last 14 passes while Murray was working on a streak of 9 incompletions in a row. The passing games looked like a bad Big 10 game. Georgia special teams were horrible even relative to their normally low standards, couldn’t cover kicks and Butler caught whatever disease Walsh has. Crowell took himself out of the game yet again for a quarter and a half with a boo boo.

Hopefully Arkansas can beat South Carolina and Georgia can beat Kentucky and Auburn because I want to see this Georgia team play Alabama or LSU. What would the over-under be on when Crowell would take himself out of the game against either of those defenses?

Again…..my point missed. The calls were calls and that is football. But I think there were reasons for them……and I believe it was Muschamp’s poor relationship with the refs at this point. It hurt him yesterday. But good and bad calls are football……and Florids lost the game because they scored 24 and Florida scored 20…..that simple….and not because of the refs. I did not say that.

Moral of this story….. every program goes through slumps… except Tek (they stay in one)…. Look at Bama before Saben… Look at Florida before Spurrier, Look at Arkansas before Petrino etc

Since you made some points…….

1. Demps was about at 60 perenct speed yesterday and could not cut on his damaged ankle.
2. Rainey badly injured his ankle in the first half and played at about 50% in the second half.
3. Rainey held the ball out like a loaf of bread on his fumble and just dropped the ball….hardly hit.
4. Jarvis Jones made a good play on Hammond, but he again did not protect the ball when he was being tackled (I have watched both plays over and over again this morning).
5. Chaz Green, Florida’s starting right tackle, did not play yesterday, causing Matt Patchan to move to the right side where Georgia was able to take advantage of his injured right thumb.
6. Xavier Nixon took Green’s spot and played left tackle and he has been terrible all year….and Jarvis Jones ate him alive.
7. Brantley….when he could move at all…..picked your secondary apart the entire first half. He obviously reinjured his ankle during the game and had no push off at all and was totally unable to pass the ball or move around at all in the second half (and, as I said, I am not sure why he was in the game in the second half).
8. Florida hardly tried to run the ball all day…..and the minus rushing yards came from the numerous sacks of the QB.
9. Georgia’s defense was NOT superior to Florida’s defense. If fact, I thought Florida’s defense was better. Georgia’s offense was better…..but not much better.

Excuses are for losers……and Florida does not have any good excuses for losing yesterday…..but they have a lot of good reasons. And the main reason is…..they are not very good this year. But no teams in the SEC East are very good this year…..as clearly stated by Herb Herbstreit on ESPN Saturday morning when he said, “How irrelevant is the SEC East this year?” It is highly irrelevant because LSU and BAMA will destroy whatever team shows up from the East. Just a fact. More than likely……they will also destroy whatever team shows up in New Orleans for the BCS NC game. So I guess that makes the rest of the NCAA irrelevant when it comes to LSU and Bama this year.

Walsh walked out on the turf for his last failed kick and his face was soooooooooo full of choke and I am a failure and just plain old tension, as he focused on the kick TV cameras were in his face and yu could see the fear. UGA has that kicker from Sacramento, Calif. so, let him wrap the season. Walsh is a head case now and is a bundle of nerves. He is a joke artist now. Yes, vs M M State he will hit maybe three and they will say he is back but he is done.

Murray is also a problem. YES, he hit two TDs and made those perfectly BUT our receivers Mike Bennett and T. King went up and handled and muscled the ball. THEY made tough GRABS on his pretty good lobs.

Murray had his soul mate Orson Charles wide open and over threw him about 8 yds. He also had Brown or King streaking twice down his left sideline and made errant throws. Murray is over rated.

UGA won, so for now …………………who cares.

Reality…….

I attended Florida in the late 60s and early 70s……and those teams were the worst teams in Floirida history…….and John Brantley’s dad (who was in one of my classes back then) was the QB of a 1-10 Florida team. Now….that was a bad….a really bad Florida team. Florida is a very good wide receiver, a very talented OL, and a power RB from being a top tier team again. And those players may be on their way in this year’s recruiting class. And Driskell and/or Brissett are very, very talented QBs in Florida immediate future.

In Ray Goff’s era as UGA coach, UGA played Ohio State in the old Citrus Bowl and won.

Eric Zeir outperformed Herbsritt and Garrsion Hearst basically embarrassed their former Heisman candidate tailback Robert Smith, as UGA won like 24-7.

Kirk Herbstreit still carries that huge humiliation around to this day. A friend of my in NYC, while on business sat next to him in a restaurant about three years ago and they talked and this Cittus bowl thing came up. He is miffed to this very day. UGA chaps him to the core, so when he can, he hammers them. Fine. Free Country. Does not bother me.

Give Georgia the win but all the while remember this. You beat a team with an injured quarterback. No RB’s an extremely young secondary, a head coach with no experience and a new defensive coordinator and an offensive coordinator with no players he chose. Add to that the fact they almost beat you then go have your parade. All the while Florida grins knowing it keeps Richt in Georgia a few more years.

Malcom Mitchell is UGA’s BEST wide out. He did not mke the trip. Keep this in mind Gators.

As an aside ………………….I was so proud of Marlon Brown in the first half, especially. He twisted and fought for every yd after making very nice hand grabs. I was happy and proud for him. He is a speciman at what ………….. 6′4″ and 225? He needs to really continue to make excellent strides. I like this kid.

Paulding County’s Chris Conley looked very good yesterday on a catch or two or three. He too is a large wide out. He will be a player next year. UGA has a goodun here and with Malcom Miitchell. Brown returning also will be good news, along with Michael Bennett and Valdosta’s Jay Rome at TE in 2012 and beyond.

If Muschamp has the same kind of year next year, you gators will run him out of Gainesville! Of course we have more stability right now in coaching. Recruits can’t be sure that Muschamp and company will be their coaches for a long forseeable future. As UGA’s very young team matures, they will continue to improve and continue to win games. Right now, the wheels are off the Gator train.

…and “reasons” = excuses. Using your logic, Tampa, our best wideout was out of the game. I guess had he not been out, we would have won by 20 points or more….just as you say had Brantley been healthy the Gators would have won. I guess thats a “reason” (excuse) that we didn’t beat you any worse.

I agree with the post about Georgia’s WR corp………that is going to be a strength for you in the coming years. Florida needs to go out and recruit some over 6′ WR that can go up and get the ball like your receivers did in the endzone on 4th down yesterday. They won the game for you.

Two things UGA could try to improve the passing and the punt game , if it is legal, is to have Butler at QB and actually punt the ball toward the receiver on passing downs and to have Murray throw the ball as far as he can on punting downs.

Your quite funny. I’m sure your wife appreciates that air of ’superiority’ that you have about you. Do not kid yourself my friend. I have had my car keyed ‘twice’ at Tech sporting events. Nothing special about the two SUV’S I had. A simple UGA plate on it. Nothing else. Sorry, but you have your fair share of idiots as well and then the group who honestly believe they are just ‘better people’ because they went to Georgia Tech. The arrogance is laughable.

We quietly go to games, cheer for our side and congratulate those around us, should the other team wins. Most of the fans/alumni that get on these blogs are decent and will grant you that UGA has more idiotic post than Tech – but in % of fans – it’s likely to be pretty close.

Congrats on the big win verses Clemson. We’ll see you in a few weeks – hopefully my car will come out of it w/o a Tech fan defacing it this year.

Richt got lucky that he defeated a third-rate Florida team; although they’re rebuilding, they almost beat him. Richt still does not have head-coaching abilities. I wouldn’t let him coach my five year old. He has no integrity; he has fooled UGA into thinking he has head-coaching abilities, but he does not. And UGA was stupid enough to buy it. If Richt was honorable, he would resign and refund all that money, with interest, he has conned UGA out of.

He has already recruited them……..Matt Jones and Mike Davis. They join the Gators next year. He has also recruiting two of the top OL in the country and is in the running for many of the top players in the country…..including two ot the top 5 WRs in the country. He has already recieved commits from the two top TEs in the country as well…..and they already have Jordan Reed who is going to develop into maybe the top TE in the country in time. The Gator D is strong….and very young. They just need one more top LB and a really good DE to become a great D. Florida will be back….and very soon…..and Muschamp will learn a lot from this year….and become a much better head coach. No doubt.

SEC East Conference…….

The rosters of Georgia, Florida, SC, and Tennessee are very young….and very talented. I fully expect the SEC East will be back on par with the West next year. Other than LSU and Bama….the West is nothing to brag about either. Vandy, in fact, almost (should have) beat the 3rd best team in the West yesterday. LSU and Bama are in a class by themselves. The rest of the SEC….like the rest of the NCAA…..is looking up at them right now. Enjoy while you can…..the East is coming back….real soon…..like next year. Georgia is going to be very good next year. So is SC. Florida and Tennessee have a lot of very young talent. Vandy is getting better. Kentucky is horrible…and will most likely stay horrible.

A few observations here. First, why in blazes can Coach Richt not just say our special teams are scary , and actually do something about it. They are a laughing stock around the SEC. WHat good does it do for the defense to play so great, and then go to sidelines and watch a punt returned for six? And we have another kicker on the roster,and on scholarship. Brandon Bogatay is the guy. CMR went out to California to bring him back from JUCO and to do what? Put his tail out there and let him kick the field goals. What’s the worst thing that can happen ? Heck, if he misses or Walsh misses it is the same result. I don’t understand this way of thinking . I wish somebody would explain it to me..

Typical blind crap from you………and exactly what do you think those inside the 25 fumbles by Florida to Georgia were…..non gifts? Or that non-call when Jordan Reed was mauled on that critcial pass play down the middle that turned the MO in Georgia’s direction. Without those gifts (from Florida and the refs)…..your team does not score two TDs and you lose the game. But you won the game (just like Florida has when they got lucky) and because you scored 24 points and Florida scored only 20…..no matter how those points were scored. But neither team looked very good yesterday……..and that is a fact. Both are very young and neither are very well coached at this time.

Somebody brought up Texas a few posts back. The simultaneous falls of Florida and Texas have been quite stunning and parallel each other. Late in the 2009 season they were consensus top 3 teams along with Alabama and looked like they would be for years with the depth of talent on their rosters. They have top 5 recruiting classes every year. But there was an element of smoke and mirrors to both of their offenses, no power running game other than Tebow at either school. Alabama exposed their deficiencies back to back and since then both Florida and Texas went into a downward spiral. Both look like cream puffs physically when they play against top teams. What happened to all those top recruiting classes? Were their recruits only rated so highly because they signed with Florida and Texas, or is it a product of coaching? And it’s interesting that Will Muschamp went from Texas, which had become soft, to Florida which has also become soft.

ANy other SEC team would have killed us. DOes anyone think Murray is going to lead the Dawgs to victory every week? Bobo and this offence are horrible and special teams, I can’t even describe.
Better hope the D keeps bailing them out. The defense is starting to look like the old Junk yard dawgs. But this win didn’t impress me.

I think Richt would be smart to send a message to Crowell by holding him out of the New Mexico State game, thereby denying him an opportunity to pad his stats. Richt could say that Crowell has been nicked up for several games and he wants him to be healthy for the stretch run. And then he could tell Crowell privately that if he wants to be the lead running back at Georgia he needs to toughen up and play through the kind of minor bumps and bruises that everybody plays with. I saw a promo for an upcoming feature on ESPN that talks about playing with injuries and it showed former Dawg Terrell Davis talking about how big time players don’t come out of big time games.

Since the field goal couldn’t hit anything, Richt had no choice but to trust his offense to convert 4th downs. He’ll be back to his conservative self against Auburn, no worries. Thought Richt blew his management of his field goal kicker, with all those 50 yards + kicks, really killed Walsh’s confidence, and he’s never gotten it back.

Hahaha. Glad all you chest pounding, AH dog nation represenatives were able to get by a banged up Florida team. Hahaha. While THE GEORGIA TECH YELLOW JACKETS totally dominated the #5 ranked team in the nation (which had far more talent and depth than us) with our “2 star players”, “gimmick, high school offense” and “80 year old defensive coordinator”. See you soon doggies. You may beat us but you will have to play the game of your life. There is NO WAY that you have more talent than Clemson.

Richt’s good at winning meaningless games. South Carolina was a game he HAD to win to contend for the East. Richt lost it. Season over. This was the year for a run, without Alabama, LSU, or Ark on schedule, and Richt couldn’t even beat South Carolina, who controls their own destiny and sits alone in first in the SEC East.

Ron, you may want to look at the stats. UGA actually had very much the same in yardage – offensive and defensive, as both LSU and Bama vs UF.

And, if Walsh hits the two chip-shot FGs and UF doesn’t run the kickoff back for TD, you are looking at a similar score as the the other two – 30-13.

I know we aren’t as good as either one of those teams, but I am saying that defensively as well as offensively, the game was about the same as LSU’s and Bama’s. Also, neither of those defenses helf UF to -19 yds rushing.

Richard Samuel IV…they had no answer for you. Watching Samuel take the ball between the tackles for hard fought yardswas a thing of beauty. You bruised the Gators, man! That last run was just damn awesome. It said this “take this Gators…our game”. May not have been a TD, but for all purposes and all times it said it all for UGA fans and alums.

TampaGator, it wouldn’t matter what if i posted everything you posted. You’re trying to have your cake and eat it too. “I’m not making excuses!” then saying the interference call, where Reed was “mauled” turned the momentum. .right. And that play wasn’t even close to interference. Defender was making a play on the ball. If anything, he had a better chance of catching it than Reed.

I can say I appreciate you being classy with your responses. At lease you’re not saying “you suck mutt fans” or the typical drivel from some around here. But somehow I’m slanting something by pointing out what you wrote. . . right. . .

Here’s the deal. Georgia won. I’m happy as hell about it. Fla people can can “we’re terrible this year, nothing to crow about”. . . wrong. Any time you beat a rival, it feels good. I’ll be more than happy if you guys continue to be terrible in your opinion if it means UGA beating fla. . .I’m sure fla fans know the feeling very well over the past decade or two.

Congrats to the coaches (especially Grantham, great game plan second half), congrats to the players, and to the fans, enjoy the win.

We had hit bottom and as these young folks get more experience, UGA will be a force to be reckoned with for a few years to come. Fill a few holes and nobody will look forward to playing UGA next year. How many of you negative posters would have given UGA a chance at being bowl eligible after the first two games, or for some of you even, before the first kick off. I can answer that with a big “ZERO”. UGA may not have played a really hard schedule but they are 6-2, and you naysayers, are now having to result to lies, fabrications, and childish remarks to insult UGA. Here is some news for you. The players and coaches aren’t listening and neither are true UGA fans, What is really sad, is the fact that if UGA fans were supposedly drinking some mythical Kool Aide at the beginning of the year, the Tech. fans have now, bought out the store. You have beaten one over rated as usual ACC school, and all of the sudden, you are number one in America. I am going to enjoy the beat down UGA gives you this year, more than most. Are you going to revert back to the old standard excuse you use of the academic standards being so high at tech. that you can’t recruit superior athletes like UGA does. Those same athletes by the way, that become thugs and bums according to you, after they turn down Tech. each year at recruiting time.

Nerd envy is rampant. Florida is not quite as bad as the excuse makers want to claim. They do have some weapons on offense and had the 11th ranked defense in the country coming into this game. They played Bama tough until Brantley went down. The Dawgs obviously have some work to do on special teams. I don’t think it was coincidental that Murray started missing passes after the shot to the thigh. It’s a win against a team that has been in Georgia’s players heads for a long time. They fought back from a bad hole and dominated the game in the second half. Fix the special teams and this game isn’t close at all. If you are a supposed Georgia fan and you can’t enjoy this one then you are a moron. Talk all you want little bugs. We’ll see on November 26th. Clemson came in ranked 60th in the nation in defense giving up 378 yards per game. Big deal. I think you’ll find these Dawgs are a little bit stouter than the last few years.

ESPN can confirm that the SEC commissioner will declare the loser of the showdown between ALA and LSU the SEC east division champion; so that the SEC championship game will not be the laughing stock of the entire country if somehow the GA bulldogs back into the SEC east championship.
