An ESPN-fueled buzz gathers around the Georgia Bulldogs

Isaiah Crowell hasn't yet played a down but casts a long shadow. (AJC photo by Jason Getz)

Isaiah Crowell hasn't played a collegiate down but casts a long shadow. (AJC photo by Jason Getz)

More and more folks are thinking warm thoughts about the Georgia Bulldogs, and some of those folks work for ESPN. (Which makes their thinking significant, given that ESPN runs the part of college football Mike Slive doesn’t.) Citing cases:

Bruce Feldman of ESPN Insider lists Georgia as his No. 8 best-value choice to win the BCS title. (Link requires registration.) Not the SEC East, not even the SEC — the BCS.

By “value,” he means getting long odds in Las Vegas on a team that has a legitimate shot. Feldman notes that Georgia opened at 40-1 to take the BCS but is down to 25-1 already. Feldman’s rationale for including UGA:

If the Dawgs were still at 40-1, they’d probably be a spot or two higher on this list. I’m on record as picking them to win the SEC East. I expect QB Aaron Murray to emerge as a star and for Isaiah Crowell, the nation’s top-rated RB recruit, and a healthy Caleb King to boost one of the SEC’s worst running games. They have talent on the defense, and it’s Year 2 in Todd Grantham’s 3-4 scheme.

• Esteemed former colleague Mark Schlabach, also of the worldwide leader, has Georgia rated 17th in his post-spring Top 25. That’s up one spot from his post-Signing Day ranking, but the bigger news lies elsewhere. Schlabach now places the Bulldogs ahead of South Carolina, which he drops from 15th to 19th.

See, Carolina quarterback Stephen Garcia has been suspended again. Which leads us to …

KC Joyner, also an ESPN Insider, puts Garcia’s presumed replacement Connor Shaw atop his list of shaky spring game performers. (Link requires registration.) I’m not sure how much weight should be placed on any spring game, but Joyner studied film and graded Shaw poorly.

All of which reinforces a notion that has been stirring these past couple of months: The team that finished 2010 by losing to Central Florida will enter 2011 as a team with buzz attached to it. Part of this has to do with the Dream Team. Part has to do with Georgia’s schedule: No Alabama, no LSU, no Arkansas — plus South Carolina and Mississippi State and Auburn at home. A bit of it has to do with Garcia and the Gamecocks.

Add it up, and I wouldn’t be a bit surprised to see the Bulldogs considered the favorite to win the East by the team SEC Media Days arrive. And I wouldn’t be a bit surprised to see them actually go out and do it.

ESPN is terrible. But their NCAA coverage and forecasting is generally better than their pro sports coverage.

Anything they say, though, should be taken with several grains of salt.

Hey Bark Madley,

Why not run a story on the soon to be announced losses of JUCO hype machine John Jenkins, bust RB Caleb King, and AJ Harmon due to academics. LOL

But hey, keep up that hope that Saint Richt will actually lead UGA to anything. I guess you’re still waiting for that pre-season 2008 National Championship ring to arrive in the mail for you?

The dawgs are young and need to improve their offensive line. A win against Boise St pushes them to a top 12 team. With their schedule they have a chance to win the SEC if luck is on their side. However, this could be a 7 win season and bye bye to Richt. The Dawgs must have a fast start through South Carolina or its over and let’s find a new coach.

It’s kind of sad to see all the Dawg fans getting so excited this year (just like the year before, the year before that, etc.). How long is it going to take for UGA fans to realize that UGA is simply no longer relevant in the SEC? In the national picture, UGA isn’t even a blip on the radar, and hasn’t been since the preseason #1 ranking three years ago.

Sit back and be grateful for the six or seven wins you’ll get every year. Coaching genius Mark Richt may take you to 8-4 or even 9-3 occasionally, but another school will still win the SEC, meaning no BCS bowls and no top 10 final ranking. Most years, UGA will be very lucky to finish in the top 25, and only after a big bowl win over a nobody opponent.

It’s a different world now, and Dawg fans need to adjust their expectations downward to reflect reality.

Unfortunately nothing is going to change until UGA changes its third-rate coaching. That’s where the difference is, and that’s why everyone outside Dawgtard Nation just laughs at Dawg fans getting so excited year after year about what a great recruiting class UGA gets. It doesn’t matter how many blue chip high school players go to UGA, they simply don’t get the coaching they would get at Florida or Alabama, to name two schools whose programs are far ahead of UGA. And that’s not going to change as long as Mark Richt is in Athens.

Get your heads out of the sand and face reality. And mediocrity and irrelevance.

I understand Coach Richt just signed a contract for some new sunglasses this year. He sure looks cool over on the sidelines wearing shades. When the NCAA told Coach he won’t be able to make any more phone calls from his Ford F-150 I heard Coach Grantham gave him the choke sign. It may be a sign of things to come. I hear Coach Grantham is already being fitted for his new chair in the head coach’s office. It will have a doughnut dispenser.

I made a couple official visits with Coach this year and I hope it is going to help with our recruiting. We need some running backs that can stay out of jail. My job was to win over the recruit’s mama and I did that by sitting in her lap and letting her pet me. Unfortunately, I slobbered and drooled all over one mama and she threw us out. You’re right, Matt. Richt has to conquer that UF demon this season.

But, if a pass rusher emerges to replace Houston, Jenkins plays like a Nose is supposed to, the LBs are as good as advertised, then the D should be really, really good.

Then, if Richt teaches Bobo to be more “cutting edge” (pun intended) in his game planning and schemes, and less predictable in his play-calling, the O-Line, and thus the O can be adequate, or better.

Richt, being the nice guy that he is, orchestrated a easy way out for Ealey to save face by allowing him to say he wanted to be the premier back. That way Ealey does not have to say what really happened-that he got kicked off the team for not following the rules.

Like I correctly predicted back in January, King and Ealey (either or both).
would be gone after Spring practice.

One down. One to go.

Rumors have been flying on boards since late last Fall
that King was in serious academic trouble back then.
Big shock, right?!

Those rumors have escalated even further in the past 8 weeks.
His future at UGA is very much in doubt at this point.

And now it appears there are questions about Jenkins status.
I’ll predict that Jenkins gets cleared to play.
The only question is how much money will it take to “clear” him.

I also expect Murray to have experience the ubiquitous “Sophmore slump.”

UGA to win the SEC. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA Not likley.

The SEC East will be a joke in 2011. I look for USC to to beat UGA in week 2,
and barely win the SEC East.

LSU or Bama will be the SEC Champs. My guess is Bama.

I also add my stadnng prediction: Auburn will be in serious trouble by Sept 1st.

Mark, There is no way. Bobo and Richt are bringing in the 9th rated offensive line class in the CONFERENCE (Per Rivals), and with the pending departure of A. J. Harmon, there is no offensive line depth. All the in-state talent that could have alleviated the problem is at Alabama, South Carolina, Arkansas, and Tennessee – the very teams Richt/Bobo need to beat to retain their jobs. They simple refuse to get it! It’s going to be more of the same, The Richt/Bobo machine throwing it all over the place, including short yardage situations, while a worn out, out of shape defense is giving up huge plays left and right!

I have as much faith that we will go on a rampage this season, and it’s all about offseason conditioning. We were underfunded, understaffed, and had a program in neglect, being run by a man who rarely was able to make in, and in his place the program was being run by two malcontents who let the players do whatever they wanted, or not do whatever they didn’t.

It was a diasterous situation that has been reversed, and the difference on the field is going to SHOCK the naysayers.

It would be very very bad PR for UGA if King gets canned.

It will leave yet another stain on UGA if the 2 “highest rated” RBs
in recent years both get canned at almost the same time.
Looks real bad when your “star” 21 year-old Sophmore RB gets canned.
Looks even worse when your 23 year-old “star” Senior RB also gets canned.
Bad bad PR.

To avoid the PR hit, I imagine Michael Adams will be meeting with King’s academic advisor over the weekend to “splain” things. I think King just might squeak by. But, King will be given scrub duty in the Fall.

The most imperative change that CMR needs to make is to stop recruiting the low-class illiterate dummies who he seems to think will win for him and keep his oversized paychecks coming in. People like Marcus Dowtin, A.J. Green, Washaun Ealey, Caleb King, and others too numerous to mention are not team players, they’re much closer to a gang than a team.

It’s embarrassing to see two-bit punks like these representing the state’s flagship university.

for the last oh…6 years…georgia has been the chicago cubs of the SEC.
delusional fan base thinking they have a shot at a championship…it’s sad, really. and, once again….

for uga to have a shot CMR has to not go soft after we win a big game.

win vs boise – go soft vs carolina – loss.
lose vs boisie – panic ensues = another 7-5 or worse.

lets just say we beat boise……this is what will happen.

richt goes soft on the boys on carolina week – uga loss. “gameplan was awesome, we didn’t execute.”

panic ensues – we just barely win vs ole miss.

loss to msu. “gameplan was awesome, we didn’t execute.”

loss to ut. – “gameplan was awesome, we didn’t execute.”

win vs. vandy….delusional fan base starts thinking of pie in the sky SEC/BCS scenarios…richt asserts that he ‘knows what the hell he’s doing.”

loss to florida – charlie weiss vs. todd grantham? come on…grantham cant stop bobby petrino….

win vs nmsu…delusional fan base starts angling for bowl bid.

win vs. auburn…only because auburn aint got nothing this year.

win vs. kentucky…(see above)

loss to ga tech. “gameplan was awesome, we didn’t execute.”

final record 5-7.

Mark Richt’s prayers to be a missionary are answered.

hope it’s not that bad, but that’s what I’m expecting.

What the national pundits don’t realize is:

UGA has a midget QB
UGA has a horrible OL
UGA lost all starting WR’s from last year
UGA is relying on a true freshman at RB

While they may have a pretty good D, failing to score (which was illustrated in the bowl game that resulted in losing to a directional school) will be too much to overcome. They’ll have a record around .500 and may go to a crappy bowl game again.

My heart says yeah; my brain says no way. Our O-Line is still going to be suspect (losing Sturdy again hurts worse than we understand right now). Our best offensive threat is gone. A true frosh RB is not going to make a huge impact in a balanced/pass heavy offense (running comes naturally for talented backs, blocking does not). Our LB corps needs to be completely rebuilt. Our secondary has been anything but consistent. Our top two WRs are gone (to include our biggest play-maker). The only positions that I can see being significantly improved are D-Line (although the loss of Dobbs hurts), QB, and TE. We may win 9, I don’t see any way we win 11 or 12.

Since King is still ineligible and it’s looking like Crowell may not qualify, did McGarity tell Richt to start studying the four tight-end offense?

Four of his five best offensive players will likely be tight ends (Charles, Aron White, Figgins, and Lynch). Will we see some Atlanta Falcons Rankin Smith era brilliance here?

Georgia’s current offensive braintrust has already “innovated” the Fullbacktightend, Tailbackcornerback, and the Kiante Tripp Offensiveguarddefensiveendoffensivetackle positions.

His predecessors “innovated” the Tailbackdefensiveend position, almost ending Charles Grant’s career, and the Tailbackreceiverwishbonequarterback position, which forced a future Super Bowl MVP to consider transferring.

Now can we expect a Wideouttightend and a Tailbacktightend position in Athens?

What other gimmicks are coming?

Here is a little reality…the UGA tards have not reported that the NEXT coming messiah of Crowell missed multiple quarters of play this season due to injury?? And that was against 3rd level high school defenses.

You want a prediction, Crowell does not make it out of fall practice without being injured and is unavailable for the month of September. Then the UGA tards at the AJC can all write if only Crowell wasn’t injured then the 1-4 dawgs would be on track for their MNC. Crowell has injury issues which have been swept under the rug in order for the UGA tards to push their Dream Team nonsense.

Hey, the Lex dawg…just a month ago you people were on here crowing about the great King\Ealey duo being better than the crew at Alabama and that Ealey was way, way better than the kid at SC, Lattimore, only he did not get the required carries….keep drinking that kool-aid. Not to worry though, the UGA tards have already pronounced that based on Crowell running over some 185 lb mediocre GA high school kid, he is much better and more talented than that Lattimore. Wonder how long before the UGA fans start speculating on Lattimore going pro because he does not want to have to compete against the next Hershel?

The same thing happened on al.com when the Dubose / Frannie / “Its Rollin’ Baby” / Probation / Shula / Phyllis era was in full bloom. It eventually ended for Alabama.

Now that Georgia has its own Shula with a Butt Cut and recently had its own Dubose as an Athletic Director, the opportunities for humor here are endless.

How in the heck are you going to motivate your offensive lineman !? There’s no depth! No one to push the starters! Richt and bobo should be replaced simply for letting it get to this stage. An earlier blogger stated Uga lost Boling, Chris Davis, and Josh Davis to graduation. Kevin perez, Jonathan Owens, Tanner Strickland, and Ben Harden to attrition. Trinton Sturdivant to injury. and apparently A. J. Harmon to academics. To top it off, Richt and Bobo go out and bring in the 9th rated offensive line class in the conference ! And last night Richt told the Greenville Bulldog club that Benedict’s knee was not fully rehabbed. Are you kidding me! Why doesn’t Mcgarity look at this and voice concerns? The situation with the offensive line borders on negligence and exposes the indifference of Richt and Bobo that continues to cost the program. These issues were reasonably forseeable and could have been avoided by a coaching staff with an ounce of motivation! By the way, thank you for Jason Peacock, our 6′6″ 330lb. starting left tackle from Milledgeville, Ga. PIG SOOEY, RAZORBACKS !!

So Sad

May 12th, 2011
12:13 pm

It’s kind of sad to see all the Dawg fans getting so excited this year (just like the year before, the year before that, etc.). How long is it going to take for UGA fans to realize that UGA is simply no longer relevant in the SEC? In the national picture, UGA isn’t even a blip on the radar, and hasn’t been since the preseason #1 ranking three years ago.

Sit back and be grateful for the six or seven wins you’ll get every year. Coaching genius Mark Richt may take you to 8-4 or even 9-3 occasionally, but other teams will still win the SEC, meaning no BCS bowls and no top 10 final ranking. Most years, UGA will be very lucky to finish in the top 50, and only after a big bowl win over a nobody opponent.

It’s a different world now, and Dawg fans need to adjust their expectations downward to reflect reality.

Unfortunately nothing is going to change until UGA changes its mediocre coaching.

First, our football tradetion speaks for itself – 5 national championships. How many does your “school” have?

Second, we could win a championship almost every year if we let in all the players that want to play for us. Its just that our school classes are to hard so we have higher standards than most schools – like Boise State.

Don’t get me wrong, I love my Dawgs, However, for the most part it’s the same people returning all around. That awesome recruiting class will not be able to make up the difference to be SEC Champs let alone BCS Champs. Only about 1 to 2 impact players.

They should focus on trying to win the EC which is a

I am looking forward to a great year supporting the Dawgs and certain that Richt and his staff have prepared the team. I don’t worry so much aboutwhat we call the exhibition season (this year that’s Boise, Tech, Coastal Carolina and New Mexico State). The first goal has to be to win the SEC East. I respect all opponents but the SEC competition is the best in the country, and that needs to be the first goal every year. Win the East. Win the SEC. Win the Bowl. The fourth goal of going undefeated is rarely at stake suring the exhibition season.

What will the Alabama fan’s say when Saban again finishes behind both LSU and Arkansas for the second year running and this after they were all guranteeing a dynasty just this time last year?

All those oversigned players and they could only manage a fourth place finish in the West and to top it all off, Saban blew that hugh lead in the iron bowl and to little brother Auburn of all teams.

Lets talk reality

May 12th, 2011

1. With the exception of Vandy, every SEC team is optimistic at this time of year, and few Georgia fans are predicting a national title. So Georgia fans are no better or no worse than any other SEC fanbase, and I can give you countless examples.
2. Reality is that outside of last year, Richt was averaging 10 wins a season, with a number 2 and number 3 final rankings to go along with the two SEC titles.
3. UGA football is the most RELEVANT sport in this state- look at the interest any UGA blog draws and compare to Falcons, Braves, Hawks, Tech, and any other team.
4. Look for the Dogs to make a run at the SEC title this year, and in 2012 go for the BCS NC.

It is inconceivable that Caleb King is academically ineligible.

From Richt in Greenville last night:

“[King] has become, I think, a very dependable football player.”

“People can have a debate on how effective he’s been, but when it comes to knowing what to do, when it comes to pass protection, when it comes to doing the things that we’re asking him to do, he does a good job.”

King needs to “trim down a little bit… to get as much quickness and speed as we can get from him.”

“I don’t anticipate him being the only one that’s going to carry the ball this year, but I think the goal for him is going to be to work extremely hard on quickness and speed. If it means dropping a couple of pounds to do that, I think we’re going to try to do that. But I’ve got faith he knows what to do, and he’ll compete well.”

Coaches do not thusly describe academically ineligible players.

UGA troll whiners,

The truth is that SEC fans are coming here for a few laughs during the offseason as no other football program in SEC history is a bigger joke than Georgia is right now.

Bama came close to this during the Dubose / Frannie / Probation / “It’s Rollin’ Baby” / Shula / Phyllis era, and we all flocked to the Bama blogs and al.com to join in the fun.

Now that you have your own Shula (with a bad hair cut), had your own Dubose as Athletic Director, have your own Fulmer Cup, and your own “#1 Party in the UGA” joke of a university, the humor opportunities here are endless. And I didn’t even mention your joke of a university president.

So just “Roll” with it for now, dawg fans (pardon the pun).

May 12th, 2011
2:22 pm

Georgia may, or may not be very good this year. Who knows? But Georgia fans (most) are still excited about the season, as they will be the next and the next and the next. It’s not entirely because the football team can win the conference championship of the strongest football conference in college, but because it’s a great school, Athens is a really cool college town and Georgia has historically been at a minimum competitive at the highest level of the sport.

Georgia is one of the most desirable state universities in the country and certainly in the Southeast, and will remain so. Kids in the state that go to Auburn, Alabama, Ol Ms., etc do so almost always only because they could not get into UGA (which probably explains a significant % of the troll population).

And as all you trolls deep inside know, Georgia will get the football ship righted, with or without Richt. Last year was a disaster for the football program from the AD to off the field stuff to wins and losses and they STILL landed a dynamite recruiting class.

Hate on, trolls, we absolutely LOVE IT!!!

I am a Gator, and I always want to beat UGA. Of course, the DAWG Fans feel the sam about beating UF. I want both teams to be the best they can be on the last Saturday in October for the fans of both schools. The idiots at ESPN need to leave both teams alone.
Spurrier is only a shell of what he used to be on discipline; therefore, we can all assume that Garcia will be back on the team by mid June. I also want to see UGA beat the Gamecocks in Athens this year. The Gators can worry about UGA and USCe later in the year.

It was more exciting in JAX when both UF and UGA were in the hunt to win the East and go to Atlanta. Coach Muschamp will catch some hell no matter who wins this year, and that should be very interesting.

Go Gators!

Show a little bit of class and refrain from throwing out speculative information about an 18-20 year-old’s personal life. That goes for you too “pswole”. Alabama finished 7-6 by barely winning there bowl game in Saban’s first year installing the 3-4, a JUCO DT and a year later they went undefeated in the regular season, the year after that he won the NC. Auburn went 8-5 in Chizik’s first, two JUCO players good recruiting and a year later he won the NC. Why is it so hard to believe that UGA could be much improved this season? It’s not like these guys are saying we’re gonna win the NC, they just think we’re gonna be better. What’s so outlandish about that? All the signs are there for improvement. By the way, pay attention to Vegas odds makers. They are right 9 times out of 10 and when they start liking a team you can almost count on them having a big year.

By the way, pay attention to Vegas odds makers. They are right 9 times out of 10 and when they start liking a team you can almost count on them having a big year.

This is a bit of a misnomer. The main goal when setting odds is to have a value that will cause close to the same number of bets from each side. Then money is made from fees, without as much fluctuation. UGA going from 40 to 1 to 25 to 1 was probably caused more by a large number bets on UGA at 40 to 1 then some guy in Vegas watching spring tape, or ESPN analysts. Plus, how can odds be right or wrong on futures?

Yes, UGA on paper has the potential to win the SEC East and even run the table considering the schedule. In reality, by game 3 or 4, even if UGA beats Crackolina, they will not look dominant and it will only be a matter of time before the lack of physical and mental toughness that tends to afflict Richt’s UGA teams rears its ugly head at Tennessee, or at Jax, or at home against Auburn. A trip to Atlanta may be possible at 6-2 because of the sked and weaker SEC East, but BCS game? Try Capital One Bowl again…and I’m an alumnus.

The last year that we want to hear this junk

May 12th, 2011
6:07 pm

As usual, UGA is making some noise within the sportscaster circles. THIS IS THE YEAR for UGA to make some NOISE in the SEC. They need to compete hard in every game, appearing focused and hard nosed and dedicated to competing at a very high level. They need to attack on D and get some take aways. Murray needs to lose those Batman gloves, worn in the Liberty.

10-2 with a realistic shot in the Dome, assures CMR of his job into the future. A 9-3 season with a loss to Boise BUT STILL competitive with two losses in the East for that spot, culminating in the Dome, probaly assures CMR a job going forward ………..if that get better in the SEC after that possible opening day loss.

Anything beyond these two scenarios will cost CMR his job. Folks, the man saw his program slip BADLY for the last two years and for 10 years, UGA has yet to turn the corner with Florida, beyond about three wins.

Oh, he meeds to beat Florida one way or other, as they are in transition.

Keep on with your childish comments though, because at least you make those of us who are serious about SEC football and UGA, look very smart. Please do not substantiate any of your facts though, as this would only ruin your reputations as football experts. Criticize those who actually do support UGA, and CMR if it makes you feel like more of a man/woman, since the jury is out on a few of you. Don’t let mature, clear thinking cloud your judgment or in any way, influence what you say. As an older man, thank you also, your comments take me back to my junior high school days, with their mentality of, “you wanted to steal my marbles, so I stole yours first”, rejuvenates me so much. Please practice good hygiene methods though and wash your hands before eating at mommy and daddy’s table, ok.

I sure hope we Dawg fans have enough sense not to pay any attention to any preseason talk…good or bad…this year. A few years ago we got swept up in that number one preseason ranking and the team played wretched compared to how much talent it had. Worst part of all, the Georgia fans started running their mouths off about it, like preseason rankings mean bibbidy-squat. Dawg fans were sounding like that FSU or Miami scum.

As for Yellow Fuzz here. Bet you do not have to worry about ESPN or any other sports service lavishing praise upon the Yellow Jackets now, do you? History tells me that is true.

Hey Dawg, explain what you mean by support your “team” win or lose. I’m just talking Dawg fans, not the trolls, or imposters. What do you expect from us that question the environment that CMR has created in Athens. Let’s just speculate that I’m the HC. One of the most important things I want to create is an environment where we expect to be, and behave like “Champions” in order to be one. Can you honestly say that CMR has created and maintains a program where players come in and “EXPECT” to be “Champions”? I support the program win or lose but choose to draw a line when I see “incompetence”, and won’t sit back quietly while my “world” collapses. Frankly, as a Father, Businessman, American, and Christian, I just don’t see where all the forgiveness comes from in our society today. We’re nothing more than “animals in nature” in our basic form, in nature the strong generally survive. Throughout history tough calls have had to be made. Today, seems very few have the stomach for tough calls.

I’m looking forward as usual to football season but refuse to have high expectations. I just hope I’m pleasantly surprised. It’s also time for those of us who “love” the America we grew up in, short of a few mistakes we’ve made, to become a strong voice to a Government that seems to ignore us.

We could win the East. I see the potential for a few stumbles early in the season that will keep us out of the BCS, but I expect us to become a pretty good team in October. Barring any key injuries of course (like Aaron Murray).

Does your history tell you one out of ten games? I will give you a hint. That is how many times you have come out ahead of UGA.
Here is a little something I found on the web, that possible describes how you think and therefore, why you write such dribble.

Two engineering students were biking across a university campus when one said, “Where did you get such a great bike?”

The second engineer replied, “Well, I was walking along yesterday, minding my own business, when a beautiful woman rode up on this bike, threw it to the ground, took off all her clothes and said,
“Take what you want.”

The first engineer nodded approvingly and said,
“Good choice, The clothes probably wouldn’t have fit you anyway.”

You guys can be overly optomistic if you want to but I say ’show me the money’. The defence is still unproven, we just realesed a great running back (that every team in the USA offered out of hs), We appear to be banking on one that is one arrest away from never seeing the field at UGA. I mean come on. How am I going to feel like we can beat Florida if we can’t even beat Central Florida? Out coach them? Hahaha. Lastly, we better reschedule that off week before Tech or they will continue to play us close.

Ken Malcome will emerge as the a top back this fall. He just need a chance. King is a fifth year senior and we have seen one game where he looked like a SEC back, but…that was against Tech..not a lot to get excited about. If Crowell is everything he is hyped to be, they (Malcome) would make a good tandem. I would like to see us in the I-formation on almost all downs and get serious about running the ball. A decent running game would make Murray a superstar.

Thomas Brown

Yes.

It is for certain that little Aaron Murray is not a running back with his less than 2 yards a carry all season last year, and that on 8 carries a game. That’s a lot of carries 87 carries to have averaged less than 2 yards per carry.
