A guess: All the NCAA sniffing won’t cost Auburn its BCS title

Gene Chizik at Talladega: Is this a violation? (Birmingham News photo)

Gene Chizik at Talladega: Is the NCAA OK with this? (Photo courtesy of the Birmingham News)

SEC commissioner Mike Slive told a meeting of sports editors Monday he has received no word from the NCAA that it has closed its investigation of Cam Newton. This news — or non-news, depending on your slant — comes only days after Jon Solomon of the Birmingham News reported that Auburn admits the NCAA is investigating the (since-discontinued) Tiger Prowl.

A bit of background: The Tiger Prowl was initiated when Gene Chizik arrived in 2009 and involved Auburn coaches touring Alabama — and showing up at some of its high schools — in white stretch limousines. The NCAA has since passed legislation limiting the number of coaches who could visit a high school on the same day.

Another bit of background: The Tiger Prowl isn’t to be confused with Big Cat Weekend, an event staged at Toomer’s Corner involving fans and recruits that, in its 2009 manifestation, wound up being the source of five secondary NCAA violations.

The point being: When it comes to the NCAA and Auburn, you can’t tell the investigations without a scorecard. Solomon of the Birmingham News also reported last week that former Auburn player Chaz Ramsey — not to be confused with former Auburn player Eric Ramsey, whose tape-recorded conversations led to the fall of Pat Dye and deep-dish NCAA probation back in the ’90s — will meet with the NCAA regarding his allegations, made on HBO’s Real Sports, that he received money to play for the Tigers.

Oh, and there’s one more: It was reported by Thayer Evans of FoxSports in February that the NCAA has looked into Auburn’s recruiting of two players from Thibodaux, La.

And now you’re thinking: With all these probes ongoing, the NCAA has to be able to find something with which to hammer Auburn. Doesn’t it?

I’m not so sure. The Tiger Prowl thing could be another of those secondary-violation-spawners, and the Louisiana thing could amount to nothing. Auburn’s defense against the HBO-aired allegations was that none of the four ex-players has offered any proof, which isn’t the world’s worst defense. Which brings us back to Cam Newton, and here’s what I think will happen to Auburn regarding his recruitment:

Nothing.

At last check, men with ties to Mississippi State have admitted taking part in discussions with Cecil Newton, Cam’s father, about money. But the only suggestion that Auburn paid Cam/Cecil has taken the form of leaping logic: If  the dad wanted $180,000 to sign with Mississippi State, does it make sense that the son would enroll at another school for free? But a logical leap is not proof.

As I read it, the SEC school that should be worried isn’t the one that landed Cam but the one that didn’t. I say again: Men with ties to Mississippi State have admitted taking part in discussions regarding money and a recruit. This could well have been a case of boosters talking through their hats — meaning nobody actually intended to pay Cecil Newton a dime — but can the NCAA and the SEC let such an admission slide?

Many among us insist it’s only a matter of time before something is found that will stick to Auburn, but I’ve come to believe any such something will not — repeat, will not — involve Cam Newton. Unless/until someone offers evidence that he (or his dad) received improper benefits from Auburn, the Tigers will keep their BCS title. And I’m not sure such evidence exists.

So you have been reading Stewart Mandel again. AS Mandel has suggested as with Gregg Doyel of CBS Sports, all of this is stirred by other interests. Tiger Prowl if anyhting would be secondary violations. The NCAA has already cleared anything you thought might have gone on in Louisiana and Arkansas. There will be nothing from the HBO hit piece. Where is the proof? MCClover gets a boag of caash and doesn;t know how much. Chaz Ramsey is a known con artist and the others have no credibility. I agree with Gregg Doyel there are others stirring this pot.

Back to the subject at hand…all Auburn fans can do is hope that nothing is ever found to warrant punishment, which is really all that fans of any team can do. The NCAA always has their radar out looking for violations. Just because we know that Auburn is under a microscope right now doesn’t change anything for Auburn fans. It might cause a slight rise in blood pressure, but that’s about all.

I fear you are wrong. The NCAA already has a statement from Cecil that he was shopping his son’s services, a violation of NCAA rules. In both the USC and Tennessee Notices of Allegations, the NCAA said that the schools “knew or should have known” what was going on.

Another line of jeopardy is that the NCAA doesn’t need much in the way of proof. It is not a court of law and if they can demonstrate that a reasonable individual would conclude that wrongdoing had occurred, it’s proof enough and they nail you. I don’t think they ever found an actual money trail between Alabama and its rogue boosters back in 2001. But Bammer got the Hammer, anyway.

I won’t rest until the NCAA gives the “all clear,” but the media pressure for them to do something, anything makes Auburn too tempting of a target. I think we still keep the trophies but I worry more about the future impact of sanctions and penalties.

She has no idea where the $60,000 for repairs came from ??

I’ll bet “Pastor” Cecil Newton knows.

The feds dont care about the NCAA trying to save face, they are a joke and Slive is the biggest clown of the bunch. Everyone in the nation knows Auburn is dirty although it may take years for these trials to wrap up and for the NCAA to get their hands on the evidence needed. When a school has multiple investigation going on, the most common action is they will find something and once they find something the issues become large.
For anyone who thinks there are not coaches, administrators or investigators that are anxious to see Auburn get hit, think again. There are active and inactive coaches who are willingly turning over evidence to the NCAA of especially two coaches who have broken rules from Auburn.
Too much smoke and activity around the plains for them to walk away clean.

Once again ….none of the investigations at Auburn have been closed and that spell trouble.

The NCAA is a hopeless mess.

They lack the investigative authority to really uncover anything. They give the appearance of being capricious, arbitrary and craven.

The darn NCAA football thing is corrupted. Any kid that desires a pro career should go into a NFL instructional program where the NFL eventually and contractually pays for COLLEGE and meals and dorm facilities and spending money while they learn pro ball. Period. These kids can play in some sort of minor league that specializes in player development and if/when the kids fails, he then enters some JC or whatever college he can get into all paid for by the NFL. His playing days will be over or by then, ineligible to play NCAA ball. THEN …………… if he wants it, he can get a degree.

This crap about signing kids for academics is a farse and a joke. If my UGA fields a slower team, fine. That is what we saw in the 60s anyway. Your pull for your school, fast or slow. It is still about tradition and fun.

This system allows the real big time players to advance past HS and enjoy some money. If they shine in the instructional league, then they can jump ship after two or three years, get drafted and play with the big boys on Sunday. The colleges would be freed up of the Scam Newton crap.

They haven’t found anything that they could punish Auburn for doing. We get these type of articles that just keep the Cam story going, going, and going. Call me when/if they have any proof of 1 allegation against Auburn that isn’t a secondardy violation. Let’s not bother counting secondary violations because they don’t mean anything other than we all some of goof ups. The rules with NCAA are so difficult to manage.

Your last paragraph was right on the money except for the “(or his dad)” part of it. If a player does not knowingly take money or whatever largesse, he is not responsible for what his Dad or other relatives might have done. The old, “well, he just had to know,” theory is not enough to establish guilt in the American legal system, and it should not be in the NCAA. Imagine the chaos that could erupt if family relatives, corrupt agents, corrupt boosters, sports groupies, potential entourages, moochers, hangers-on, or even reporters looking to help their careers could have “conversations” with other boosters from other schools about how they know exactly what it will take to get their guy to sign, or conversations about “here’s the deal” etc. etc. without the player’s knowledge or participation??? And under the looney thinking in the Newton case (motivated by national championship envy, obviously), they don’t even have to talk anyone from the school the kid actually attends. They can stir the pot with any school they choose and get the same result. Well, we’d better sit the kid down until we know if his dad, uncle, grandma, or second cousin once removed really did have conversation with Agent X about the 200 large being available from Faber Univerisity. Job done. The kid sits. No proof necessary. That is how the SEC looney toons wanted it to go with Newton. If credible evidence is found that Newton and Auburn were in on some kind of a deal (who knows what kind that might be since Mississippi State was the offending school), they should burn for it – and strip Auburn of the title. And the SEC should look for it as long as it feels it has good reason to do so. Outside of that, there’s nothing else to say. Good column – good common sense.

Correct. And if Cam Newton is eventually ruled ineligible for what happened at Miss State, Auburn will walk from it because of the situation we were put in. The NCAA cleared him to play. Nothing needs to be made official. Auburn’s title is forever tainted. And their program as a whole will continue to be the butt of jokes and ridicule for a llllllooonnnnnng time. AU will get what it deserves the slow way via the avalanche of non-respect paid to it by media and the general football public for the foreseeable future.

If we review the history of NCAA investigations, we know that once it gets the scent of something going wrong it doesn’t back off until it uncovers violations, even if they’re minor.

I agree with many folks that the NCAA is a mess of an organization and needs to be reorganized. If and when that happens is another story.

However, if I’m the AD and president of Auburn I’d be very aggressive in my communications with alumni, boosters and recruiters, reminding them of the NCAA’s continuing investigations. Remember, one slip-up by any of the above can open the cases and create an eventual violation.

I don’t really care about Auburn, my points are based simply on the history of NCAA investigations.

Take a moment and consider the possibility that the reason there is no proof is that there is nothing to prove. It is funny that not a single person outside AU considers it.

The root of the problem lies with the NCAA itself.

Things like the Tiger Prowl and Big Cat Weekend should NOT be a problem but the NCAA legislates such minutae that events like these (one meant to create excitement, another to provide a fun and relaxed atmosphere for recruits and supporters, etc.) become secondary violations for the school.

If players got money to play for Auburn (or any school) then, yes, hammer them but events like the ones herein are part of what makes college football fun.

Nice Bradley. You repeated AU’s talking points almost to perfection. It goes something like this. “Auburn has nothing to worry about but Mississippi State does.” Meanwhile, the NCAA is opening a branch investigation office in Auburn, AL but no activity in Starkville.

The only reason the NCAA even knows that Cecil asked for money for Cam at MState was because THE SCHOOL TURNED IT IN! But they did not report it as a violation. The talking the men ‘admitted to’ was that Cecil contacted them and asked for money & they promptly reported this to the AD. You make it sound like they offered him money. You want to give AU the benefit of doubt on the ‘leap of logic’ but not MSU. Wonder why?

Now let me help you poor fools who thinks that Auburn is innocent.
First: Pops ask Mississippi State for $180,000. Even you idiots from Auburn can figure this one out. The only difference between Mississippi State and Auburn is that Auburn paid. Just ask yourself. Why would a recruit turn down a school that he want to attend for a school in which he had no interest? Hint, $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.

Secondly: Four former players just so happens to get together and decides to stick it to Auburn. You Auburn fans say that they don’t have any proof. Well sense they were the ones being paid by Auburn, I would kind of think that they were the proof. If it was one or even two players, then maybe you have a point. I know one thing for sure though. The last thing that you Auburn fans want is for those 4 to be hooked up to a poloygraph machine.

Thirdly: Does the name Terry Bowden ring a bell? I suppose that he was a liar also when he said that players were being paid by Auburn boosters when he was coach there.

Lastly: Auburns biggest all time booster was the one paying these players. Just ask Terry if you have the guts to. Oh, forgot about that little deal that Auburn payed of Terry to keep his mouth shut.

Yea, Auburn is innocent. About as innocent as the Bama fan who poisioned your trees. By the way did anyone actually see him poision your trees. Well if not then according to you Auburn fans he must be innocent also. Tell him to ask for a jury trial. You Alabama people to stupid to see what is right in front of your face.

Fact is the NCAA is waiting until the political/gambling/bribery case has been resolved so they can have access to the wire-tap evidence. Then again, Uncle Milty will likely ‘cop-a-plea’ in return for that evidence to be kept confidential – that is until somebody decides to ‘be a whistle-blower’.

Hey Headley: Why did you stop listing schools with violations after seven? Couldn’t be because UGA has six, could it?

Ah, Topless is back for another try at respectability. His last attempt didn’t turn out so well for him.

Those repairs on Cecil’s church? They were completed by July of 2009, six months BEFORE Cam signed with Auburn. Best guess is that Cam’s older brother, Cecil jr, who was playing for the Jax Jags at the time is the source of most if not all of that money. Check the minutes of the Newnan City Council meeting of July 2009 for details.

Don’t worry about Auburn having “only” 53,000 present for the A-day game. Over 80,000 showed up for the Championship Day celebration in February.. Cam Newton, Nick Fairley, a bunch of seniors and all the coaches spoke. A wonderful time was had by all. Hey, this is Great Time to be an Auburn Tiger!

MikeP

April 19th, 2011
10:54 pm

Hey Topless: Auburn can’t have lost too much respect from the other coaches. Finished #1 in the coaches’ poll, Gene Chizik voted Coach of the Year by his fellow coaches…Do you ever post something that can’t be easily refuted?

Pointing out a few errors by various posters above, for those interested in facts:

1)No Auburn Board of trustees member is charged with any crime. No BOT member has been indicted for any crime.

2)Tiger Prowl changed some things after the NCAA consulted about it in 2009, but it’s not discontinued. There was a Tiger Prowl in 2010 and there will be another one soon, check for the time and date in a city near you.

3)Big Cat Weekend is scheduled for the end of May this year. If there is a top prospect living near you, he’ll either be there or wish he was there.

4)There was no “shopping” by Cecil Newton. Former Mississippi State player and booster Kenny Rogers approached Cecil about money, $200,000 to be exact. If Rogers could put the deal together, he’d get $20,000 for his trouble and Cecil would get the other 180,000. One little problem, Rogers couldn’t find an MSU booster that would trust him with $200, let alone 200,000. So there was no offer from State. That’s the only money talk there was. Oklahoma, Tennessee and Auburn, the other three schools Cam visited, all say money was not mentioned. That would be because Kenny Rogers had no connections at those schools. MSU is in trouble because apparently two MSU assistant coaches heard this discussion between Rogers and Cecil Newton on November 27th in a Starkeville hotel lobby, but MSU failed to report it until January 4th, strangely, one day AFTER Cam signed with Auburn. What a coincidence!

5)According to a freedom of information request from the Birmingham News to Auburn, the only NCAA investigation open at Auburn is the technically open but inactive investigation of the 2009 Tiger Prowl. If anything comes of that (doubtful) it will be secondary violations at best.

Lastly, I have come to learn that these days “where there’s smoke there’s fire’” means “there’s no proof and these guys probably didn’t do anything wrong but I sure do wish they had.”

War Eagle!

I ran you off the other day and you had to resort to name calling. You are the dim wit on the blog and everyone is laughing at you.

You lose and everytime you come on here we all see how much of a loser loser loser you really are.

The respect factor is that no one respects Auburn…Just tonight on HBO Bryant Gumbel called out Auburn again and said that SPEAKING OF Newton…todays heros are tomorrows goats….

Today on ESPN ..the former Auburn apologist and Protector – Paul Finebaum stated that he now had serious doubts that Cam Newton did not know what his father was doing. He went on to say that Auburn is more than likely going to have the Newton saga revisited.

You just do not get it….Across this great nation( and believe me when I say “ACROSS”) as I travel weekly for 44 weeks a year …any college football fan has utter disdain for the cheating program at Auburn and that is usually the adjective to describe Auburn within the first 10 words. That is a fact.
As for your BOT members getting re-selected…that should tell you something…you now know that the University is controlled by a core group of 4 men and they do whatever they want whenever they want.

One more thing…Lee Farkas…..convicted today for his role in the collapse of Colonial Bank. Now his attorney is saying on appeal he will wield all resources to bring out the truth and if that meant bringing others into the trial that have so far avoided the witness stand he is determined to do so. In otherwords,,,Mr. Lowder….please swear in…the gloves are coming off.

Once again we are ALL LAUGHING AT YOU Mike P. Enjoyed the 40,000 fans that showed up at the DEFENDING NATIONAL CHAMPIONS SPRING GAME…..that ALL IN deal was only good for one year and that one year will soon be the year you will wish to forget….The TITLE holders can only muster 40,000 and that number was some of that Auburn accounting numbers.

Toothless…er, Topless: Lee Farkas has nothing to do with Auburn. I doubt that he’s ever been in the state of Alabama. Farkas was convicted of stealing money from Colonial bank. So what? Grab at straws much?

Auburn people call F-bomb Paul Pondscum. ‘Nuff said about his feelings toward Auburn.

Cecil did not admit to shopping Cam. He admitted to discussing money with Kenny Rogers at Mississippi State. Officials at Oklahoma, Tennessee and Auburn all say money wasn’t mentioned. Reading up before you post will help your credibility.

The governor of Alabama appoints members to the Board of Trustees. Where you got the idea that some “cult of four” does it I can’t imagine.

Got a lot of congratulations on the championship and comments about what a great team Auburn had. Not a single person said a thing about all these outlandish false accusations. I think bamzos and DullDawgs are the only ones that are sitting around hoping their wild dreams will come true and Auburn will get a penalty.

Learn to read, there were 53,000 at Auburn’s spring game. Can’t you get anything right?
The Championship Celebration was the place to be, with 80,000 plus enjoying the ceremonies. Sorry you missed it, that BCS trophy is something sweet to look at.

Bulldog Joe, that would be a concern if there were some mysterious “money pipeline”. There is none.

All I will say is, we (Auburn) are either the cleanest program out there or the best at hiding our transgressions. We have been under the microscope of the NCAA, blog writers, media and every fan-base for 6 months and not 1 factual piece has come out. NOT ONE!!!! so UGA fans and bama fans relax, mean ole Nick Fairley and the evil Cam Newton cant hurt you anymore; they have moved on to the NFL.

Stating the Facts

Tide,

Sorry to inform you, there is a major difference and here is how they are different.

The Crimson Caravan is designed for coaches, and Alabama staff members to go to various places/schools, and No recruiting is allowed, and no other outside persons are involved.

What Auburn is being investigated about was the use of outside personnel on the bus and limo who as reported in the Tuskegee News that women over the age of 21 were used to entertain recruits and some of those recruits were “minors”. This is the second incident where the “Mann Act” was SUPPOSEDLY violated by staff members of Auburn. I am not saying this is true, I have no facts, I am just repeating what was reported in the Tuskegee News a few weeks back. This all came to light ACCORDING to the Tuskegee News after the NCAA interviewed coaches and players who were recruited by Auburn the past 3 years.

The NCAA allows schools to make these treks across states as long as recruiting is not the focus of the caravan.

MikeP

Tuskegee News? Let me guess, Paul Davis, correct? Now he’s got NCAA investigators telling him the details of their investigations? Impressive.

One undeniable fact: The purpose of the 2009 Tiger Prowl was to get the attention of the population in general and recruits in particular. Getting the high school coaches and players and local media to know the new coaching staff was the goal.. (remember, this was 2009, the coaches were new then)

Everywhere that bus went a flock of reporters followed. The presence of any “ladies of the evening” would have been all over the front page of every newspaper in Alabama and Georgia the very next morning. Epic fail on that one, Paul.

The difference between Crimson Caravan and the ‘09 Tiger Prowl was that the Tiger Prowl, in addition to meeting the public in the evenings, also stopped at various high schools. That was declared to be a no-no after the ‘09 version, and the 2010 Tiger Prowl no longer went to the schools. The ‘10 Tiger Prowl was exactly like Crimson Caravan and the ‘11 version of Tiger Prowl will be in Atlanta in the very near future.

I grew up reading a newspaper. Now, through the miracle of the internet I can comment on what I read. Almost ever day there is some outlandish claim about what the deep, dark, mysterious Aubies are doing.

Take today, a writer in the Tuskegee News says Auburn is stupid enough to have hookers in attendance at a series of events planned to get as much public attention as possible. That’s a HOOT! An even bigger hoot is that there are some who might believe it.

I lead a great life. This is a wonderful time to be alive and an even more wonderful time to be an Auburn Tiger!

His overall intelligence is on a third grade level and by far is the worse person on these blogs. Just ignore Mike P and let him live in his fantasy world. That’s a common internet courtesy, that way the person you are responding to knows that you are addressing him. The only people that object are those who don’t like it when you nail them with a false statement they previously made.

All you have to do is put up one shred of proof that backs up your claim of Auburn taking “shortcuts”. C’mon and try: The sleaziest group of sensationalist writers on the earth have been trying to find something for months, let alone the SEC’s six month investigation and the NCAA’s five month investigation.

Disappointing though it may be to some of you, it’s pretty clear that Cecil realized he couldn’t let Cam sign with MSU after they offered money, so Cam went to Auburn. As for the $30,000 or so for the church, Cam’s brother, Cecil Newton, Jr., made the roster his second year for the Jacksonville Jaguars. He would have received somewhere in the $350,000 to 450,000 for signing. He told the building code council in a public meeting that he would pay for the repairs, well before Cam signed with Auburn. So that isn’t an issue.

From Forbes: “related to payments possibly made to Auburn Tiger quarterback Cam Newton (Heisman Trophy winner). However, it probably doesn’t look good when your top player is suspected of taking payments when so many alums are affiliated with a now defunct bank.”

Stating, it appears that your reading comprehension is not so hot. I requested one single bit of PROOF. Do you not see the words “possibly”, “probably” and “suspected” in the Forbes article? And that’s just one small slice of it. That article is like so many others, he wrote something and stuck Auburn’s name in there to try to get more readers. People like to read about a winner, and Auburn is the champ.

Another of your links goes to background information about a lawsuit from 13 years ago. A lawsuit filed by a former assistant coach that didn’t get the head coaching job. A lawsuit that was tossed out of court. What’s that got to do with anything?

Your inability to provide one smidgen of actual evidence proves my point. All this stuff about Auburn is nothing but the whining of jealous fans from rival schools. When faced with “put up or shut up” there’s nothing they can do except slink away.

The attempts to claim that the downfall of Colonial Bank somehow reflects on Auburn are humorous. A bank failed. So what? Auburn has no control over bank failures, and that bank has no control over Auburn. Grasp at straws much?

You must be a woman, because that is what women do, lose their own point, then want to change the argument. You are a terrible debater and it is shown in your cut and paste approach.

From this day forward Mike P, do not address me, I have a business to run and do not have time to deal with people who are illogical and too stubborn to face the real world and the reality that comes along with it. By the way I coud have posted another 100 articles to prove my point but it gets no where with you. If you were a realist you could easily see how the Bank Failure at Colonial Bank is directly related to Auburn University and there are many many articles written by respected journalist who have done a good job of pointing those out.

The point of the article from 13 years ago was to demonstrate how Bobby Lowder is a micromanager and RUNS the Auburn program ( especially the Athletic /Football Franchise) I could have added the Paul Kennedy interview with Terry Bowden but I knew you had already dismissed that as fiction while everyone else knows it to be the truth. I could have posted the comments by Urban Meyer and Phil Fulmer made in the past year discussing the Auburn recruiting practices they have witnessed and the sleeze factor of it.

One more thing, Your go to argument is show the proof. That is your final argument. Well SON, and BOY. that is not my job, my point was to show you and everyone else that writes, covers and reports from sports, to financials, to recruiting, to mortgages all recognize the way Auburn does business. Time is on our side and the NCAA and FBI are actively doing a great job of their investigations ( mulitple) and the truth is coming out. As a former cheerleader at Auburn in the early 80’s, and with a husband who played at Auburn in the 80’s, with children now attending Auburn, I am as proud of our school for winning it “ALL” as anyone. I am yet holding my breath as my husband reminds me of what he saw while he was at Auburn and what our son who plays tennis at Auburn has seen in the past 2 years in relation to preferential treatment for football players at Auburn. We as parent, alumni, and former scholarship members of the Auburn family are disgusted with the way the University is held captive by a small group of men who treat the football team and program as their “NFL” team. We attend many many functions at Auburn and we personally hear the rumblings and believe you me when I say a great deal of us are holding our breath and still smell something is rotten in our beautiful campus and until we get some resolution( whether good or bad) we will stay under the heavy hand of the NCAA.

We attended a tennis match last week and a Alumni Meeting and it was announced that you know who was reappointed to the BOT. We all just laughed and the rumblings began about how the Investigations will continue to grow and the program will inevidently suffer from so many people who make decisions that are not always the best for our proud school.

War Eagle and lets move on from the Cam Newton era. His era is over, but it may haunt us in the future, but we will have to pay if the allegations are true as they grow daily.

Two Auburn graduates are related to some of those things. Auburn University has nothing to do with any of that. Dream and wish as you might, there is nothing pending against Auburn. Deal with reality for a change.

In conclusion, it’s not smart to try to put words in someone’s mouth when those words are posted in the same thread for all to see. Better to change your tactics than try to call somebody out for something they did not say when they can prove they didn’t say it.

Phil Fulmer speaking to Tennessee Alumni in December 2010:

Trooper came into Stillwater and the fans thought he would tear up the state in recruiting. Within a few weeks nasty rumors about the tactics he was using began to percolate, and none other than T. Boone Pickens told Gundy to shut him down. Trooper had ZERO SUCCESS IN RECRUITING in his year at OK State, and left a bad taste in the mouths of the program. We had to do the same thing when he was here with us, the difference was we monitored our coaches, it is apparent that some coaches allow their coordinators and coaches to push beyond the limits allowed by the NCAA and that will be their downfall.

I am more than pleased with the credibility Derek and his staff have returned to our program at Tennessee after a year of the same sort of behavior being exihibited by the school that employs Taylor now. We are better than that and our program once again be the proud leader in the conference.
