"You recruits: I'd better not see this picture posted on Facebook." (AJC photo by Curtis Compton)
As reported by esteemed colleague Chip Towers, three arrests have been made in the theft of iPhones and iPods from Georgia’s locker room. One of those arrested is a football recruits for the year 2012
A gentle suggestion: Were I Georgia, I would no longer recruit that player.
This isn’t to prejudge guilt or innocence as defined by our legal system. Due process will take care of that. But Towers quotes UGA police chief Jimmy Williamson as saying of his investigation: “Facebook is always a big help.”
(And this works … how? Jimmy Williamson sends a suspect a “friend” request?)
If I’m Mark Richt, my new list of guidelines for pursuing football talent would read thusly:
Rule No. 1: Do not recruit anyone who might have gotten arrested due to something posted on Facebook.
Rules No. 2-10: See Rule No. 1.

Just what is it that makes a great recruiting prospect want to steal things once he is inside the Puppies’ locker room??? Is it the water? Like the Old Ball Coach says — they get these great kids, and then what happens to them?? This is almost too funny and too good to pass up, even though it is unfair to the Puppie nation since the guy was being recruited by a lot of schools. But any BS about him not playing somewhere good because of this is just silly — and that includes Georgia. If Michael Vick can come back — a grown man who knew better – a felon – a prison inmate — then any one can — especially this high school kid. You can bet that out there some where is a coach at a big time school who covets his skills and abilities, and who will have no problem making the noble speech about how we should not ruin this young kid’s life, his whole career, and unfairly take away the millions he will help to bring me as his coach and this university, and then the millions he will one day make in the NFL once his indentured servitude in the NCAA-governed football program has ended. Everyone deserves another chance, especially a young kid like this who made a big mistake and who is very sorry for it (cue the tears and downcast remorseful countenance of the player in question). You can even see Richt making this kind of speech. Heck, maybe he will let bygones and bygones and even make it for Bonner. Not out of the question. The Puppies need all the help they can get from these recruits. I have two words for the Puppies to chew on over the summer – Boise State. First game – it’s gonna be UGA-ly.

FOR THE LAST TIME:
THESE KIDS WERE NOT ON A RECRUITING TRIP WHEN THE THEFTS HAPPENED. ONLY ONE OF THE KIDS IS A FOOTBALL RECRUIT BEING OFFERED A SCHOLLY BY AS MANY AS 20 SCHOOLS
ALSO,
OTHER THAN NERDS, WHO REFERS TO ATHENS AS THE “CESSPOOL OF THE SOUTH”? 3 NERDS DOES NOT CONSTITUTE “WORLDWIDE”!
Boise who?

Of course nerds are going to try to make hay over a non-issue. What else do they have? Wonder how much these dudes have stolen from other schools?

SSIgator,
Who is obsessed?
I’m not the one who shows up on UGA blogs spewing all the crap that you spew.
Why don’t you leave?
That way you don’t have to read my posts………….

richt will figure a way to get that top 10 recruit on the team. He needs players badly—his job is on the line. When the kid gets out of prison, maybe he can play for uga on some “work release” program on saturdays with an ankle monitor. But, the other players better watch their stuff close.

SSIgator,
Gravitate? Wrong word for invited guests who probably will never be invited back. You want to needle someone, try ?coach? McGee who doesn’t weem to know the meaning of “dismiss”. Bonner has demonstrated his below zero IQ on Twitter. Guess he could still qualify academically for uf?
