Chattin’ live on the NCAA tourney, propped-up-feet and all

Charlotte — Welcome to our third annual live chat off the Thursday afternoon NCAA tournament games. The first two years weren’t without controversy. In 2009 you folks made fun of my TV. Last year the Milwaukee Hyatt impelled me to relocate to Major Goolsby, a sports bar across the street, by delivering the sobering news that it did not offer room service for lunch.
(For breakfast, yes. For dinner, yes. Just not for lunch. Are you kidding me?)
But I digress. And now I move to this year’s issue: Of the 65 channels available on the wide-screen TV here at the Civic Center Marriott, truTV isn’t among them. I confess that I’d never heard of truTV until it came a carrier of NCAA games, but now I know what it is. And it’s not here. So I’m going to miss those games today.
My life: Drama untold.
And here we are again. I’m pretty sure the Marriott offers at least a tuna sandwich if not truTV, so I should be OK. For early games we’ve got Clemson-West Virginia, Butler-Old Dominion (though I won’t see it), Louisville-Morehead State and Temple-Penn State. Those are pretty good games, you’ll have to concede. And I’ll try my best to offer semi-cogent commentary until around 4 p.m., at which time I need to head for the arena for Washington’s media availability.

Did you know Danville is the geographic center of Kentucky? I learned this from Mrs. Holmes, who did her undergrad at the appropriately named college there.

I know Centre College is in Danville – didn’t realize it was the geographic center of KY. The salesman with whom I was travelling had a kid at Centre but he is an ex-Xavier letterman

But look at it this way: Louisville wouldn’t have won in the next round without Knowles. And didn’t deserve to win this one.

Another thing: Louisville overachieved this year. This wasn’t that talented a team, especially without Rakeem Buckles.
And give Morehead credit: It did what an underdog has to do — get ahead early and make shots at the end.

I am 1-2 on the day so far (got WV, missed on ODU and Louisville). Only good thing is that I had ODU and Louisville losing in the 2nd round
