Chattin’ live on the NCAA tourney, propped-up-feet and all

Charlotte — Welcome to our third annual live chat off the Thursday afternoon NCAA tournament games. The first two years weren’t without controversy. In 2009 you folks made fun of my TV. Last year the Milwaukee Hyatt impelled me to relocate to Major Goolsby, a sports bar across the street, by delivering the sobering news that it did not offer room service for lunch.

(For breakfast, yes. For dinner, yes. Just not for lunch. Are you kidding me?)

But I digress. And now I move to this year’s issue: Of the 65 channels available on the wide-screen TV here at the Civic Center Marriott, truTV isn’t among them. I confess that I’d never heard of truTV until it came a carrier of NCAA games, but now I know what it is. And it’s not here. So I’m going to miss those games today.

My life: Drama untold.

And here we are again. I’m pretty sure the Marriott offers at least a tuna sandwich if not truTV, so I should be OK. For early games we’ve got Clemson-West Virginia, Butler-Old Dominion (though I won’t see it), Louisville-Morehead State and Temple-Penn State. Those are pretty good games, you’ll have to concede. And I’ll try my best to offer semi-cogent commentary until around 4 p.m., at which time I need to head for the arena for Washington’s media availability.

Thanks to all who entered Bradley’s Bracket Fiasco. (Entries are closed.) Thanks to all who dare to hang with me this afternoon. And away, as the Great One would say, we go.

I’m sorry. We’ll have to disagree on Tony Greene. I think he does a fine job.

I have a theory that these, ahem, First Round(Play-in) games are going to move us closer to a 16 seed beating a 1 seed. One year the Selection goofs are going to seriously under-seed a good team and stick them in one of these play in games. That team is going to get a chance to get the jitters out and get really hot going into their game with the 1 seed. Eventually a team is going to stay hot long enough to beat a 1. The advantage of having a game under its belt is going to propel a 16 seed to a win, I believe.

Louisville in some trouble — down one, one guard hurt, the other in foul straits.

In a hotel? Sounds like solitude and a peacful enviroment to watch a lot of basketball.

Looks like Coach Rick Porccini better get those Cardinals in gear. Who on here picked Morehead State to win? I know I didn’t.

I saw Terrence Moore on the news this past summer. He was calling the Braves’ front office racist because they didn’t have enough African American players. What an idiot.

I was in Louisville this time last week on my way back from beautiful Danville, KY and Augusta, KY – the Cardinals’ fans are easier to deal with than the Wildcat fans.

I once wrote Terrence an email expressing dissatisfaction (in a strong but by no means vulgar or profane way) with one of his columns. He proceeded to forward that email to the tippity-top boss of my employer at the time, asking if this was how employees in that organization spent their company time. Said tippity-top boss told Mr. Moore politely to suck it.

Great guy, that Terrence Moore.

Mark – any chance – c’mon, any chance at all – that Brad Stevens would come to Georgia Tech? If I were Radakovich, I’d make him say no before I went to anyone else…

Much like his idols Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson, Mr. Moore is unconcerned with his own faults while constantly finding fault with others. And with that, I’ll return to basketball befoe Mark decides I’m no longer allowed to be part of the blog.
