The channel I'm watching, alas, is NOT truTV. (Photography and pedicure by M. Bradley)
Charlotte — Welcome to our third annual live chat off the Thursday afternoon NCAA tournament games. The first two years weren’t without controversy. In 2009 you folks made fun of my TV. Last year the Milwaukee Hyatt impelled me to relocate to Major Goolsby, a sports bar across the street, by delivering the sobering news that it did not offer room service for lunch.
(For breakfast, yes. For dinner, yes. Just not for lunch. Are you kidding me?)
But I digress. And now I move to this year’s issue: Of the 65 channels available on the wide-screen TV here at the Civic Center Marriott, truTV isn’t among them. I confess that I’d never heard of truTV until it came a carrier of NCAA games, but now I know what it is. And it’s not here. So I’m going to miss those games today.
My life: Drama untold.
And here we are again. I’m pretty sure the Marriott offers at least a tuna sandwich if not truTV, so I should be OK. For early games we’ve got Clemson-West Virginia, Butler-Old Dominion (though I won’t see it), Louisville-Morehead State and Temple-Penn State. Those are pretty good games, you’ll have to concede. And I’ll try my best to offer semi-cogent commentary until around 4 p.m., at which time I need to head for the arena for Washington’s media availability.
Thanks to all who entered Bradley’s Bracket Fiasco. (Entries are closed.) Thanks to all who dare to hang with me this afternoon. And away, as the Great One would say, we go.

Mark,
I agree with your comment on Krzyzewski.
JSS also made a good point – a large number of Duke’s players went to “elite schools”. Ryan Kelly’s high school (Ravenscroft) costs $30k pa. Only people who can afford to send their kids there are corporate CEO’s and Bill Cowher.

Oh, now that was interesting, you mean if you had two equal teams that you’d take Coach K over Bobby Knight in a college coaching battle? After the Wooden era of course…

To all of those folks who thing the top layer of the CAA is overrated; do you still think that now? I just hate how the selection committee puts mid-majors on the same line. They eliminate each other early.

Can’t have those senior laden mid majors making fools out of the freshmen from the big boys now JSS, it would hurt TV ratings and cost the NCAA money. As we’ve seen from the latest round of football investigations, money and ratings are the 2 top concerns of the NCAA now.
