Chattin’ live on the NCAA tourney, propped-up-feet and all

Charlotte — Welcome to our third annual live chat off the Thursday afternoon NCAA tournament games. The first two years weren’t without controversy. In 2009 you folks made fun of my TV. Last year the Milwaukee Hyatt impelled me to relocate to Major Goolsby, a sports bar across the street, by delivering the sobering news that it did not offer room service for lunch.

(For breakfast, yes. For dinner, yes. Just not for lunch. Are you kidding me?)

But I digress. And now I move to this year’s issue: Of the 65 channels available on the wide-screen TV here at the Civic Center Marriott, truTV isn’t among them. I confess that I’d never heard of truTV until it came a carrier of NCAA games, but now I know what it is. And it’s not here. So I’m going to miss those games today.

My life: Drama untold.

And here we are again. I’m pretty sure the Marriott offers at least a tuna sandwich if not truTV, so I should be OK. For early games we’ve got Clemson-West Virginia, Butler-Old Dominion (though I won’t see it), Louisville-Morehead State and Temple-Penn State. Those are pretty good games, you’ll have to concede. And I’ll try my best to offer semi-cogent commentary until around 4 p.m., at which time I need to head for the arena for Washington’s media availability.

Thanks to all who entered Bradley’s Bracket Fiasco. (Entries are closed.) Thanks to all who dare to hang with me this afternoon. And away, as the Great One would say, we go.

I can recommend the chicken sandwich, if you happen to be in Charlotte stuck in your room.

Coach K recruits kids that have the integrity to be Duke players. All others need not apply.

Tony Parker from Miller Grove is a private school kid? Somebody better tell him

Honest Abe
Hill says it better than me and I encourage all to read his complete remarks.
Hill notes that he would not have said positive things as he did to Rick Sund when he was thinking of dropping Jimmy King had he known how these guys felt.
Problem is too many will hear their remarks in the movie and go no further.
If Duke recruits players who actually might thrive on their campus, more power to them.
Maybe they should be copied instead of all the colleges that come up with cheesy majors to get players of sports through.

Louisville down 7-0 to Morehead State. West Virginia pulling away.

Morehead State, the poster school for the series of dirty sounding school names that appeared on caps years ago, shutting out Louisville through the first media timeout.

ya jackets assuming we take your advice there would no such thing as ncaas considering 90% of all schools use these “cheesy” majors. kudos to tech for not allowing it. they are a beacon of light in the dark world of college athletics. “laughing out loud”

I’ve been getting an e-mail every day about how Donnie Tyndall of Morehead State should be Georgia Tech’s next coach. Imagine if the Eagles win.

So there’s no consensus on the opinion that the world needs more general studies majors? I, for one, am shocked.

About Morehead State: It’s about 45 minutes from Maysville, my hometown. I had my first fender bender in Morehead. The year was 1972.

JJM-its on TBS. The scoreboard they have at the top tells you which network the games are on. That being said, I still had to hit my recall button to figure it out. Old habits die hard in these technological times.

Just read Grant Hill’s remarks.
I picked the wrong point to make obviously.
I think I read first an article in Fox News that referenced Hill’s column and had a link.
I can’t get folks to read books I read so maybe there is a little hope for this article since it is so much shorter.

If you’re male……is there a better school to cheer for than, “Morehead”?

Look, Duke under Coach Mike Krzyzewski just did not recruit the inner city or the high profile public school leagues until after the Hurley/Hill/Lattener classes… The class with Battier, Brand, and Magnette were elite players who were actively sought (putting it bluntly “recruited”) by prep type schools like Detroit Country Day, Fenwick in Oak Park, IL, and Peekskill. Since then, he’s gone after some Midwest quasi public school kids like the Plumlee brothers. Still, he really doesn’t and hasn’t recruited like Ray Meyer did or Al McGuire did at equally academically hard institutions…
