Eight years later, the Packers must come to Mr. Blank’s house

That giddy night in Green Bay: Blank, Vick and Sonny Perdue. (AJC photo by Curtis Compton)

Eight years ago, the rookie owner saw his sixth-seeded team upset Green Bay at Lambeau Field on a snowy Saturday night. This Saturday night, Green Bay will play here as the lower seed, as an underdog seeking to unseat a member of the NFL’s upper crust. Because that’s what Arthur Blank’s Falcons have become.

“We’re a relevant team in the NFL now,” Blank said this week. “This is an important team in the NFL.”

Note that Blank chose to use one word twice — “team.”

On the night of Jan. 4, 2003, the emphasis wasn’t so much on the collective as an individual. That famous upset was seen as a function of Michael Vick, described in the fifth paragraph of the Associated Press game report as “the 22-year-old improvisational genius.” But Vick would preside over only one more playoff victory as a Falcon, and he took his final snap for this franchise on Dec. 31, 2006.

Yet here the Falcons sit, the reversals of losing Vick and Bobby Petrino, head coach for all of 13 games, having been rendered a long-ago memory. They were a playoff team in 2008, a winning team in 2009, the class of the NFC this season. These Falcons, simply put, are constructed better than any Falcons have ever been.

Said Blank: “This team reflects Thomas [Dimitroff, the general manager] and Smitty [coach Mike Smith]. This team is very balanced — No. 5 in both offense [points scored] and defense [points yielded] and last in penalties. That’s not a formula for glamorous, but it is a formula for success.”

Back to January 2003: Vick controlled that game in Green Bay and the Falcons became the first visitor to beat the Packers in a playoff game; a week later, the Eagles controlled Vick on a blustery night in Philadelphia and won by two touchdowns. Those Falcons had but one way to win, and that way was tied to No. 7. These Falcons have many ways.

“We’re more balanced,” Blank said. “There’s not a single player who’s the focus. Michael was extremely talented, and win, lose or draw there were people who’d come to watch him play.”

Also this: “I’m thrilled about this year, but also beyond this year — and not just because of our quarterback Matt Ryan. We’re positioned for success for a very long time.”

Blank’s first season as owner was giddy beyond all expectation: He bought the team in February 2002, saw Vick rise from newly promoted starter to Pro Bowl quarterback, saw his team finish 9-6-1 but back into the playoffs when New Orleans lost at home to Carolina on the regular season’s final day. Then the Falcons went to Wisconsin and won, and in July 2003 the team arrived for training camp in Greenville, S.C., widely tipped as a Super Bowl team.

Then Vick broke his leg against Baltimore in the third preseason game, which undid the 2003 season, which led Blank to fire Dan Reeves and hire Jim Mora, who led the Falcons to the NFC title game — also in Philadelphia, also a comprehensive loss — before running out of ideas. So Blank fired Mora and hired Petrino, and by the shank of 2007 this team had become an object of pity: Quarterback in jail, coach in Arkansas.

The Falcons weren’t seeking excellence when they went out hunting a new GM and a new coach in January 2008 — they were hoping for a shred of credibility. They found Dimitroff via webcam and Smith via a series of interviews at the Senior Bowl in Mobile, and now Blank’s beloved franchise appears built to last. Which beats the heck out of being built to finish last.

First things first, however: The Packers in another playoff game. Who’s Blank picking? The Pack by a touchdown? “Yeah, right,” he said, unappreciative of the insolence.

Then: “We’re certainly in a better position [as opposed to eight years ago, when the Falcons, as the No. 6 seed, couldn't play a home game] … We’re set up to have a chance to do well. That said, we’re playing a team that travels very well.”

Eight years ago, the Falcons had to go play in the snow to announce themselves to the NFL. This time the road to the Super Bowl leads through Atlanta — where as we know it never ever snows.

One thing man…I went to a game in Green Bay the year after Atlanta had gone up there and put them out…I wore Falcons gear bc the Packers were playing the Eagles and I wanted to support the Birds. I caught so much crap and hell for that. We need to return the favor in a non-physical way to those who are coming to watch the Packers. We need the amazing fanbase that the Packers have in GB down here in Atlanta.

We’re not “relevant” yet. Relevance comes with winning games like this one routinely.

Relevance comes over time, it comes from beating good teams in the playoffs. All we can do is hope for more of that.

I’d like to see another blocked punt to start the firestorm on GB.

Lasting memory of that game: Fox sports gal tells Vick, “Green Bay has never lost a home playoff game in their history.”, Vick: “I guess we’ll go out and try to make history.” He trotted off. And we did.

Hate him or love him, he had a helluva game that night.

Today’s relevance becomes tomorrow’s respect if the Falcons can take the next step ahead of them. Only with a Super bowl can they ever hope to silence the “Yeah, buts.”

Mark- You just don’t seem very confident in the Falcon’s ability to win this game. Sure Aaron Rodgers is better than Matt Ryan but as a team the Falcons are much healthier (Pack without Jermichael Finley and Ryan Grant) and much more balanced. If Brees threw for 400 yards and couldn’t win without a running game and a good defense against Seattle, I just don’t see the Pack coming into the Dome and beating the well rested Falcons anymore than those 03 Falcons going into Philly and beating the demonstrably better Eagles

He was a prime reason the Eagles lost to the Packers; they should have won that game even with Akers missed FG’s but “mike” tried to be the man and couldn’t finish. The Falcons have to pressure Rodgers, if they rush 3or4 its not going to stop the run or the pass, last game even when we had good coverage Rodgers would find a running lane and pick up 1st downs. They have to get him on the ground, if we give up a big play or two so be it. A sack fumble will more than make up for it. Facons by 10!! The road to Dallas gos thru Georgia!!

Does Falcons Sorry have a sever mental problem? Mr. Vick lost last game, right? He also was about to get kicked out of Atlanta, before the Snoopy incident, because of his play. One game he looks like the best who ever played. The next he looks like he never played the game before. His INT in the 4th qtr cost the Eagles the game, so what is Falcon Sorry whining about? Also like so many have said before, “You get respect when you actually do something.” There are lots and lots of teams who make the playoffs, there are much fewer that bring home the SB Trophy. You want respect, you win a SB Title. Didn’t anyone watch what happened in Saint Land last year? You win it all and the Falcons will be all over TV and ESPN. Teams that use the “we don’t get respect” line, need to, because deep down, they don’t think they can win. Saturday we will see.

Mark, thought you might be interested in this little tidbit from the LA Times, another sign of the utter lack of respect this team is getting, still:

http://www.latimes.com/sports/la-sp-erskine-20110114,0,1515177.column

In Atlanta, Saturday’s forecast calls for temps in the 40s and a 70% chance of grits.

No matter the weather, 70,000 or so raving lunatics will show up at each venue, some of them carrying torches. Those are the reasonable ones. Be very wary of the others.

The lone indoor game is in Atlanta, where they play in one of those awful sealed tombs that remind me of Indian casinos. The only thing making that game worthy of your precious time is the Packers of Green Bay. By the way, if anybody should be playing in the snow, it is those guys. Indoor football is to the Packers what Cheez Whiz is to a pungent wheel of Wisconsin scamorze.

I am a visionary of the first rank, and foresee the eventual matchup of the Green Bay Packing Co. against the Chicago Bears in Soldier Field the following week. Bears-Packers for the NFC title? Is epic a verb? Is now. Because a matchup of such blood rivals could out-epic the Super Bowl.

Only two of the “experts” at espn pick the Falcons to win. A well rested number one seed home team vs a sixth seed, and we are the underdog, silly how much disrespect that network has shown this team this year. I think the team can use this as a great motivational tool. Everyone is saying that Green Bay is “Hot” because they won 3 straight must win games. I could say that they may be spent or running out of gas.

I agree with Ted M. Open the game up with the pass in order to open up the run, and then power run with Turner, Snelling and Ovie in the back field at the same time. I have yet to see that formation. Imagine a 750lb backfield. Then boom back to no huddle.

Anything to keep em guessing. Mularkey was known as inspector gadget in Pittsburgh I can’t remember a trick play sense he has been here. How ’bout a flea flicker . I love S@#$ like that to start a game.

I am rambling ideas because I will send him Mularkey to the moon if falls to the 3 straight draws up them middle garbage. Its like playing a special-ed kid in rock, paper, scissors you know they are going to throw rock.

And personally I don’t love the “Rise Up” theme. I never sat down. We had to use Samuel L and a choir to get our Vick Fans to convert to a team not a player. But whatever make the dome as loud as possible. I’ll be standing up every down on defense and remember be quite when we are on offense. The stadium was doing the wave on offense against the Saints. Come on man act like we’ve been here before. Long time season ticket holder.

I spent 5 great season with Woody at Ohio State and Woody always said “you win with quality people” I don;t know if we win this weekend or not, but we will be prepared and our players will leave it all on the field. Mark,

I don’t sense that NFL fans view the Falcons as having arrived. A win Saturday and ultimately a Super Bowl victory are really the only way to reverse the negative perception cemented by 40 years of ineptitude.

I love what the Falcons are building (and have built) but I’ve been surprised by the consensus that the Packers are the better team. Maybe it was the NO game (uncharacteristic mistakes on the big stage) that has me so concerned about this game, or perhaps it is that this moment has seemingly taken a lifetime to arrive (1998 was more lightening in the bottle) and that a loss would minimize the progress to date.

Or maybe the thing that still holds me back is that I sat in the end zone at ATL-FULCO as a giddy 17 year old Falcon fan where Drew Pearson broke our collective hearts 30 years ago. I have never been the same fan since.

Pete

I am a Bears fan from Austin, Tx. long story as to why the Bears are my team. I have been reading the newspapers from the various playoff towns. The experts are picking the packers to get to the SB. I personally think the Falcons can take them down. When the Bears beat the Packers they do it by having a balanced attack on O. limit turnovers, easier said than done with Jay at QB and make Rodgers work the ball downfield limiting big plays. the Falcons are the perfect team to do those things. Don’t give up on the run too early. The Pack will run blitz like crazy early to stop the run and try to force ryan to beat them. Just keep pounding the rock and wait for play action opportunities to your TE. .I remember three years or so commenting on ESPN’s board about how i felt sorry for the ATL fans because the Vick thing and the coach leaving thing left the team looking at years of rebuidling. Amazing how fast it all trurned for the good. Now it seems like the Falcons will be a factor each year for awhile.

Packers are going to be easy to wear down after two tough road contests at CHI and PHI.

The first quarter will be the big key. The Falcons need to keep it close early, then they should be able to wear them down easily in the 2nd half if they have about 60% of the total plays as they usually do. Falcons own the 4th quarter.

If turnovers are even, Falcons are looking at a 5 to 9 pt win.

I said this in an earlier post; the main reason the Falcons still don’t get much love from the national media (particularly ESPN and SI) is about revenue and the things that drive it. The team-centric aspect of this Falcons unit doesn’t make for the kind of things those guys make a living off of, namely focusing on “superstars” who routinely create a circus atmosphere for their team to have to deal with (be it via Twitter, off-the-field problems or just plain being hedonistic and obnoxious). The Patriots model the Falcons are being built around is very much like the Braves model from the 1990s (though the Braves certainly had their superstars, the clubhouse atmosphere always remained at an even keel, a testament to Bobby Cox’s biggest strength as a manager and John Scheurholz’s ability to bring in personnel who were compatible); much of the positive mindset comes from focusing on professionalism and keeping things in the clubhouse, not about kneejerk reactions and trash talk. A team with aspirations to greatness keeps things professional and even-keeled; they don’t tolerate distractions (hopefully Roddy White’s Twitter escapades are a one-and-done and ALL Falcons players take a lesson from it) so they don’t give the bloggers much to write about.

“Superstars” and big-market teams like the northeast teams, Green Bay, and forced-down-the-public consciousness’-throats “feel-good” stories like New Orleans make for more tantalizing press. More importantly, a potential Superbowl matchup between two of those teams generates much more revenue (and hence media glitz) than say, if a small or medium market matchup like Atlanta-Kansas City were to occur. Sure everyone says they want parity, but in the NFL as it is with all professional sports, that’s an utter hypocrisy if you simply look at the balance of coverage by the sports networks. It all comes down to money and what sells to the most readers/watchers, unfortunately.

But at least Falcons fans can take solace in the fact that whether the national media cares about them or not, we have a very good team now and one that will hopefully contend regularly for years to come. A football TEAM that Atlanta can finally be proud of.

GO FALCONS!!!!!

I have a wonderful Idea. Let’s beat the Mike Vick Drum when he may come back to Atlanta to play in the Playoffs. Since he is now out of the Playoffs, let’s beat the Mike Vick Drum about what happend forever ago. Isn’t there another story line for you Mark? How many times will you and Schultz drag up the Mike Vick story? Can’t you find something else to write about besides using him as a baseline for everything you guys write about and me melancholy and dramatic about. I can see it now…..
A new McDonalds opens up somewhere in the Atlanta area and Bradley releases a column, “I remember when Mike Vick went to a McDonalds with Bobby Petrino, they then tore the heart and soul out of the city 6 months later when one got arrested and the other went to Arkansas”. Schultz would soon follow suit with a similar article about a new Barnes and Noble, reminiscing about how he saw Mike Vick and Petrino reading childrens books before setting the entire city of Atlanta afire a la Sherman. Good Lord I understand that you require blog hits in order to justify your pay, but man you are beating the same old drum again and again. Of course here I am reading it so what does that say about me?

The Packers are good but they should have lost to Philly. I think the media loves them because they would like GB to win a big one post Favre (a lot of them are probably tired of Favre fanfare and wanted to say GB did the right thing).

Anyway, Matty Ice is 20-2 in the dome. I’m not saying it’s a sure thing but I wouldn’t bet against the Falcons in the Dome – it would be foolish to do so.

Good post, extremus.

It’s always struck me how easily the league would strike the Falcons from prime-time/night game slots, even sometimes after winning seasons. It’s as though over the years they finally decided to wash their hands of the franchise for blockbuster game times and broadcasts. Will be interesting, regardless of how far the Falcons go, to see whether that changes next year, especially given the tremendous ratings of the New Orleans Monday night game.

The Clampetts finally figured it out when they hired Reeves, of course 40 years too late. Mr. Blank got a little too caught up in the “market a hot product” mentality with Vick and Mora and Petrino, but he’s figured it out too. The Falcons will be a relevant franchise from now to the foreseeable future. I’m not sure we can say that about the Saints and Bucs, and certainly not about the Panthers. If we come to dominate the division over the next decade much like the Pats, Steelers and Colts dominate their divisions, there is no reason we can’t compete for championships year after year like those franchises do.

JSS – Had a great meal at a Polish restaurant in Hamtramck some years back. Can’t remember the name of the place. I do remember seeing an autographed picture of Rudy Tomjanovich there.

First trip to Detroit was in Sept ‘88 for a biz trip…”training.” One night we went to a Tiger game at Tiger Stadium. I nearly froze. Was wearing a sport coat because I was too young/dumb to know to pack an overcoat for the trip. Jack Morris got the W (over the Indians & former Brave B. Jacoby) with former Brave Darrell Evans hitting a dinger for the home team. I just wanted the game to end so I could get back to the hotel and take a hot shower. I wonder how many people at that training session with me — there were about 25 of us — are actually still employed? My guess…zero point zero.

I actually like Detroit, even with all it’s problems. But I like cities. [Except for Cleveland. The mayor was rude to Mark Bradley one time and me and LeBron up & took our business elsewhere after that faux paus]

Take note pasteurized-food heads: these are not your father’s Southerners. We have learned to temper our hospitality. Only those that are deserving receive our concern. Y’all in the stadium that are clad in envy-green and baby-puke yellow can expect a piece of the beatdown that will be received by your team on the field. You are likely to be less “well traveled” in the future where Atlanta is concerned.

Postscript:

We, the good people of Atlanta, are ever hopeful that, after the Falcons have handed the packers their #### on a platter, the national media are able to capture the doe-eyed tears of Trent Dilbert and his coconspirators—the assembled northeast-biased wasps from that CT network—after their petty dreams and animus have been shattered and as they attempt to slither unnoticed to their limos.

Moreover, we, the good people of Atlanta, demand after said defeat that Dilbert, et al., consider themselves persona nongrata in our beloved South, never to darken our doorways again.

Lastly, after we are awarded the trophy, don’t y’all try to come around for our reknowned hospitality, iced tea, penetrating conversation and world class photo-ops with an “aw shucks, didn’t mean nuthin’” grin on your faces. @ Extremus Very intelligent post! Excellent explaination of our “dissing” by the national media. I have learned over the years to take the national sports media with just slightly less than a grain of salt. We true Atlanta Falcon fans (myself since the 66 LA Rams game) know that this team and organization is unlike any other in the past. We can take solace in the fact that they are here for the long haul, not just a flash in the pan. I am expecting a powerful performance this weekend from our guys, and recognize that, win or lose, they are the best Falcons team I have ever seen. I will continue to support them all the way to Dallas, because that is where I expect them to be in Feb. We have a lot to be proud of this year!

Funny. (Actually not.) We think 13-3 is upper crust, but Trent Dilfer, Matt Millen etc. think that we should lick the feet of GB and forfeit. Even my beloved looks up and questions why I misrepresented that the Falcons were in the playoffs for the lack of coverage, jokingly. OTOH, my former co-workers who are Packers fans, question why we should have more coverage– which to date has been ‘nil — because, their words, “the NFL, networks, Packer Nation and I believe we should be the featured team.”

Correct me if I am wrong, bu t the two by-words of most recent NFL marketing missives have been “parity” and “opening new markets” I can see why that is considered to be Wembley, Mexico City & Toronto. However, with the biggest demographic growth being 34-50 women (both fan-dom AND garb) as well as the thrilled NOLA populace, can you guess why I think at least NFL Network talking heads should talk the correct line???

They don’t have to support ATL,but they should not be so disproportionate.

Good article. Your article hints at the difference between the current Falcons and Vick’s Falcons. Vick’s Falcons were completely reliant on Vick carrying an otherwise awful team. The current Falcons are not overly reliant on any single player, which means any given “key” player can have an off game and the Falcons can still win. That is a sign of good coaching and good management.

Well, I see the testosterone wars are going strong. Here’s my take. I hope the Falcons win. Green Bay could. win. Atlanta could win. But regardless, if I had looked at a crystal ball three years ago and seen the Falcons organization and this level, I’d have gotten a new medium. After 42 years of ineptitude in the whole organization, the owner, the coach, the GM, finally knew what they were doing and have been working in sync together ever since. We finally got it right. Personally, I think we may still be two or three position players away from greatness, but I’ll back this team proudly for what they have already accomplished. And whether or not the Falcons win tomorrow night, win or lose next week, win or lose the Super Bowl this year, they are on the right path. Finally.

My son will be telling his kids one day that he remembers his daddy yelling and screaming, jumping up and down hysterically as the Falcons that nobody ever believed in won the first Superbowl of many, as I have told him the same story of me an my father back in ‘91. Rise Up is a perfect theme, I love it…..LET’s RISE UP ATLANTA…..RISE UP!!!!

“If turnovers are even, Falcons are looking at a 5 to 9 pt win.”

“Atlanta beats Green Bay easy on the way to the NFC title. Falcons 33 GB 20—mark it down!”

“Falcons by 10!”

I’m not saying any of you are wrong, but here is one of the most amazing team stats I’ve ever seen:

The Green Bay Packers’ largest margin of deficit at any time during the 2010 season?

7 points. Look it up.

A wise person once told me, “You can’t talk to a fool, you have to argue with them.” I’m not going to argue with this fool, Falcons Sorry. However, I will not allow him to besmirch Mr. Blank.

Falcons Sorry, your facts are skewed. To say Michael Vick was like a son to Mr. Blank, I would like to know how can anyone ingratiate themselves on someone else? To correct your obvious inability to see truth, Mr. Blank treated Mike like a son. How did Michael Vick treat Mr. Blank? Like a sucker. He lied to Mr. Blank time and time again. He was a selfish individual who displayed these straits in his professional and personal life. Mr. Blank put his reputation on the line when he stood up for this juvenile delinquent time and time again. When asked point blank if the accusations were true, Mike looked Mr. Blank dead in his eyes and denied them. When Mike couldn’t hide the truth which was coming to light, he finally showed some maturity and accepted his well deserved punishment.

Mr. Blank is a businessman who has a big heart. His philantrophic record speaks for itself. As the class act he is, Mr. Blank never abandoned or threw Mike away like trash. He forgave him (much to the chagrin of scores of people who wanted to burn Mike at the stake). Mr. Blank kept and still keeps in touch with Mike and continues to support him.

In closing, I hope you read my post. Better yet, I hope you understand it. Mike is the reason I became a football fan. His athleticism and energy caught my eye and has kept me pinned ever since. I am a proud #1 FALCONS FAN. Moreover, I’m an unabashed Arthur Blank fan.

Falcons Sorry, you’re sorry. Whether you posted your comments to irritate or get Falcons fans riled up, you’ve accomplished only one thing; showing every reader of this blog you’re a fool.

I was at the Packer/Falcons game @ Lambeau in ‘02, one of the Packer fans knocked my Falcons hat off my head from behind and we started to tussle, got no further really than a pushing match as about 5 GB security were there before I could blink an eye. He got thrown out of the stadium just as quickly as my hat hit the stands. Anyway, I don’t think it would hurt to knock a few cheese bonnets of some heads at the stadium tonight. RISE UP FALCONS

To start off, Packers fan here. If GB weren’t playing the Falcons, that would be who I’d be rooting for this round. I’m a fan of Matt Ryan, Roddy, Burner and Abraham. I like your team, and I can see a Falcons/Packers rivalry ongoing for the next few (maybe several) years.

As exciting as Vick can be to watch, it was good for the organization, not to mention the team, to bid him sayonara after the whole gambling ring/dog killing debacle.

Anyhow, this game should be an all-timer Saturday night, and I’m looking forward to watching it, not to mentioning being emotionally invested in it, as I expect all you are as well.

May the best team (and soon to be Super Bowl Champ) win.

Falcons Sorry, “The Man” hasn’t been a member of the local team in over four years. Perhaps you should go to philly.com where the Eagles fans are trashing him. “The Man” is the only man that gave “The Man” a raw deal. Mr. Blank had nothing to do with the troubles that “The Man” got himself in. Poor judgement on and off the field is why “The Man” is a bird of a different feather. Again, philly.com is where you want to be. You can even use my moniker.

You can put your money back in the bank. Falcons Sorry is a 37 year-old white guy who is a Human Resources executive with a local Fortune 500 company. He gets a kick out of seeing how many people’s feathers he can ruffle (like yours, based on your racist comments) and also craves attention so he sits back and relishes all of the attention he receives from his bogus comments. Speaking of scheduling, the NFL is so eaten up with bias, why do the Falcons play either Green Bay or the Packers every year and not Detroit. Also why does the team play Philly every year and not New York or Washington. Oh yeah, when Atlanta plays Dallas why is it mostly in Dallas. My personal opinion is no team show play conference team every year, but rotate amongst the teams. There will be a time in the near future when the teams just mentioned will complain about having to play Atlanta.

PMC – Falcons ARE relevant. Their 13-3 season, number one seed, makes them quite relevant. What they don’t yet have is respectability. Nearly all the pundits are picking the Packers to win; they picked the Saints 3 weeks ago for the same reason: opponent perceived to be the better team. Falcons did not win that game, hence more of the same rhetoric this week with Packers being the consensus national choice. A big difference this time is there’s no tomorrow. With the Saints game, a loss was inconsequential because a bad Carolina team was next on the schedule. I expect a greater sense of urgency and focus, particularly offensively for this game.
If the Falcons want to garner respect nationally, they simply have to win this game. It’s time!

Vick doesn’t play for us anymore so let’s leave hime at home where his team is and focus on our Falcons. Green Bay is dangerous and we need to be ready. If we take away Rodger’s ability to go downfield, think we win going away. We need to keep our penalty and turnover free play going and no team can stop us!

Two years ago the press was tearing into the Falcons for not having receivers. The great thing about a drop back quarterback that doesn’t move much in the pocket, the receivers are not ambushed by the ball, not knowing where and when it is going to be released. I often wonder if Vick had stayed would we have traded White, like we had years ago with a talented quarterback who ended up in Green Bay.

Come on down packers and pasteurized-food heads: We got sumpin’ for your ####.

We will not ever forget your disrespectfulness and insults. Especially you Dilbert.

This is what happens when you sell out Michael Vick. “Green Bay played us just like we thought they would play us.” The Falcons had all of the tools to be a Super Bowl Team. They just had an over-rated Matt Ryan. Arthur Blank played up to some of the Fans and sold out their Prize Quarter Back “Michael Vick”. Had they kept Michael Vick, they would definitely won that game and would win this Super Bowl. Arthur Blank, you get what you pay for.

In business, there are no permanent friends and permanent enemies. That is why you were video taped standing in Michael Vick’s Locker Room, prior to the start of the Falcons eagles game in an attempt to patch up your slick dirty deeds you did to him. Michael Vick did nothing to you or the team. He did admit to and was convicted to a crime in which he served time for. Now he is with the Eagles whom Tony Dungy, Donovan McNabb, Andy Reid, and the Eagles owner felt kind enough to give him another chance. He turned out just great. In fact, spectacular.

If the Eagles had the caliber of players that the Falcons have on the offensive Line and Defensive Secondary, The Eagles would be going to the NFC Championship game next week. But it’s water under the bridge. So just as I predicted it would happen this way, it did. “The Dirty Birds will go one and done, and they will also have the opportunity to sit at home on the couch and watch next week’s game along with everyone else”.

Try again next year, but guess what Mr. Blank. The results will be the exact same. Better try and get Michael Vick. But I doubt that he would ever want to play for you or the organization again.
