With this weather, you’re not going anywhere tonight — and if you are, the only place you should venture is the insane asylum. The BCS title game is on, so here’s what you should do: Watch your TV and hang out with me. (Figuratively speaking.)
We don’t usually do live blogs off games not involving a local team, but we’re making an exception for this one. Because Auburn is semi-local and Cam Newton is absolutely local and … well, because I just feel like it.
We’ll get going around 8 p.m. — toe-meets-leather time is set for 8:30 or thereabouts — and we’ll keep going until somebody has claimed the semi-mythical national title. (TCU, my heart bleeds for thee.) And I do want to offer one bit of terrible news for AU fans up front:
I think the Tigers will win.
That aside, I invite and implore you to grab your official AU Snuggie — fans of other schools are welcome to join the festivities — and join me (figuratively speaking) on this cold winter night. I’d even invite you over, but I’m pretty sure nobody could make it down the neighborhood approach without damage to both fence and automobile. So let’s do it the 21st Century. Let’s commune the cyber way. I look forward to your company, and I thank you in advance.
Oh, and War Eagle! (I’m tired of being wrong in these BCS games. And don’t get me started about Mack Brown and his SHOVEL PASS!)

Hey Mike, depending on your internet provider, you could watch it on ESPN3.com. I can’t think of all the providers that are part of the deal, but AT&T and Comcast are part of it. All you do is sign in to the website with your email address from your provider and you’re in. Hope that helps.

I’m a Duck but also went to Tech. (Not that that matters for this game, just know I grew up in SEC country.) The SEC has better athletes but a lot of my hope tonight resides on Coach Kelly. I think he is better, by that I mean smarter or at least more clever, than Chizik. It might not be enough to make a difference but in a lot of the analyses I have seen that seems to be overlooked.

Hmmm. My guesses:
1/ Winners come from top teams deep on talent and thus benefit from outstanding supporting casts.
2/ Voters usually pick from a team that’s highly successful. They typically ignore more talented people on less successful teams.
2/ Most winners are QB’s and running backs. Demands on QB’s are very different in the NFL compared to college, the position doesn’t translate well. In college, smaller, slower running backs benefit from lines that can dominate lesser opponents. There are very few lesser opponents in the NFL, putting a premium on an athlete’s individual talent.

It’s funny how the UGA fans are all pulling against Auburn and therefore the SEC. Like most SEC fans, I pull for my school first, and the SEC second.
I realize now why UGA fans are different. If Auburn wins tonight, it will be the 4th different SEC team in 5 years to win the NC…and NONE of the 4 will have been UGA. With each SEC team to do so, UGA fans have to watch their beloved Dawgs become more and more irrelevant.
And no, I’m not an Auburn fan….but for tonight at least, War Eagle.

The sports writers seem to think the Heisman winner sould be on a team playing for the national championship. Sometimes the best player is on a very good team (Luck-Stanford) and maybe even on a bad team like Marshall Faulk at San Diego State many years ago.

I cant figure out why no one is giving Oregon any credit. These guys lead D1 in all offensive categories for a reason. Yeah they are smaller defensively, but that doesnt matter when you score in a blink and the team you are playing has no defense to speak of. Oregon will win this game handily.

I am still on fence on this one. Usually I pull for a SEC team but I started out on Auburn’s but know I don’t know. It doesn’t have anything to do with Newton or the Tiger football team. It’s because I have grown tired of the Auburn trolls on AJC blogs the past few weeks. They have almost convinced me to pull for the PAC10 and that’s something I thought I would never do.

Mullen and his wife were the ones that Cam calledersonally- remember all the to do Cam made over how he called Dan because of how close they all were(GAG). There was no report that Cam talked with anyone else at MSU after the Auburn decision by Cam/Cecil/Cam/err Cecil.. Only two who could have had that conversation.
