I do not want to see Vick in the Dome in the conference championship. The fans in Atlanta are funny. You are most certainly getting at the point. I love our Falcons and always have, but as a fan and watching them this past decade, Andy Reid OWNS atlanta, then adding Vick and Desean Jackson who tore up our defense before his concussion in the game earlier in the season highlights the fact that specifically our defense isn’t quite at the level to hold a dynamic offense, in my own humble poi ion I would think we would be underdogs in our own building for an NFC championship game.

I really don’t want to see the Falcons and Eagles play in the playoffs. It’s not that i’m scared of the Eagles, but i just don’t like all the tangential things surrounding that game. I think there would be way too many distractions that the media would cover this game with, and i’d hate the way it would be spun if the Eagles did win, as if Vick somehow got “revenge” (despite the fact that he was the douchebag who caused everything). I also don’t like the ammo that all these idiot Vick supporters in Atlanta would get, as if Atlanta should have held on to Vick or something.

There are some things more important than winning a football game, but the sports media quickly forgets that. Regardless of how a Falcons/Eagles would turn out, i’d rather not have a convicted felon who kills animals as my QB. But the media would spin it in a really twisted direction, and that’s what I don’t think I could stomach.

I dunno, i just need to believe that having class and character wins out, and if the Eagles won, it would shake my faith in that idea.

Great win tonight guys! As for the topic of discussion, I am not 100 percent confident the Falcons could pull one out against the Eagles during the playoffs. Ideally, it would be in our best interest for New Orleans or Chicago (if they are still in contention) to handle the Eagles for us. We got straight punked and we had absolutely ZERO happening on either side of the ball when we played them, and I don’t see any vast improvements since then that would make me think otherwise. Not being a hater just realistic is all.

But we’re still winning so it’s all good GOOOO FALCONS!!!!

One thing people forget about the Eagles… their defense is not good at all. They can’t stop the run. Their offense can be explosive, but they aren’t always clicking on all cylinders. They lost to a Bears team not two weeks ago that just got demolished at home. I think people are WAAAAY overhyping them as a team. They’re definitely good and definitely a threat, but people seem to be trying to make them this regular season juggernaut like the 2007 Patriots, which is just weird. They have very big flaws.

#2 Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the division.
#3 Best won-lost-tied percentage in common games.
#4 Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the conference.

If NO wins out and the Falcons lose out, Atl would have three division losses (2 to NO, and 1 to Carolina) compared to NO 1 loss to atlanta

When you haven’t beaten a team since the last franchise quarterback, who is now the opposing team’s new franchise quarterback – you may have a problem.

You can’t win by hope, unfortunately the NFL is a “reality” league.

The Eagles just proved that even the top pass rushing and blitzing team could not contain them for a full game.

They demonstrated just how explosive they are – 28 points in 8 minutes is pretty impressive.

With Vick under center, they average 37 points per game and have not scored less than 26 points in any single game.

Redskins, Cowboys, the roll over and play dead Giants, nor the Lions, or Jaguars.
This Falcon team has won 8 straight since the 9 weeks ago when Kolb beat the Falcons. They said the Falcons couldn’t:
Beat the Packers, but they did
Beat the Ravens, but they did
Beat the Bucs, twice, but they did

Ryan is 32-12 in less than 3 years, 19-1 at home and has thrown for 63 TD’s in that period. He has done something in 3 years that it took #7 Ron Mexico 6 years to do.

I certainly hope FALCONS win SUPERBOWL this season, if so vick will become a non-story on this site (I can only hope). Ryan can have his doubters, naysayers and regardless of his WINS will never give him credit for helping his franchise. Let’s not forget where this franchise was before the 2008 season. For the franchise to have 3 consecutive winning season (something vick never done) and for our starting QB to be 19-1 at home, the young talent on both sides of the ball, the FALCONS should be contenders for a long time and its is simply amazing.

Mark the Falcons were considered the best NFL team once before and allowed two Dallas touchdowns in the final two minutes to lose in the playoffs. That Falcons team finished 12-4 and was the most balanced team in NFL. Just shows that you never really know until the day is done. This team is still very questionable on defense but have played terrific the last two weeks. They are finally finishing teams off.

I’d have to agree from their performance against the Giants today that the Eagles are at least on par with the Saints as the greatest threats to the Falcons’ Superbowl hopes come the playoffs. Vick and Jackson are indeed an electrifying and very dangerous combination and would be hard to stop.

But the single biggest reason I hope the Falcons don’t have to face Philadelphia in the Georgia Dome for the NFC championship is the idea of how heartbreaking it would be to have a large segment of those in attendance cheering for Vick (specifically for Vick, not necessarily for the Eagles); it would be a disgrace to the city and I’m sure disheartening for the Falcons and former teammates of Vick listening down on the field. This Falcons franchise has undergone a transformation over the past three years that none of us could have seen coming, and have been emulating a 2000s Patriots model for long-term success under the guidance of Thomas Dimitroff and Mike Smith. They’ve worked so hard, become such a great team, and yet when that one name Michael Vick comes up, you see such evidence that (mostly along racial lines) a good part of this fanbase hasn’t fully embraced them because an individual (albeit an immensely gifted athlete) became bigger than the team he played for to them.

Michael Vick did his time for some stupid, inhumane things and appears to have gotten his life together; he could very well still put together a Hall of Fame career. I hope so for his sake, I really do (and once again, if that’s the case then THAT is what his fans, especially the younger ones, should learn from as an example). But he’s not the Falcons’ quarterback anymore; Matt Ryan is. They’re both proving themselves to be outstanding QBs in the NFL, but sometimes I wonder if Ryan is ever going to be able to accomplish enough to step out of the shadow of What Might Have Been with some fans in Atlanta. Either Ryan or Vick can (and perhaps both will eventually will) win a Superbowl, perhaps more than one. It’s a shame that some folks not only won’t let go of the past, they’re so passionate in their hatred and bitterness toward the Falcons and Arthur Blank for what they perceive as a “betrayal” of Vick by white people (I believe in calling things exactly as they are) that they still troll the boards here three years removed, making life as miserable as they can for the true fans and regular posters. They’re missing out on the best, most stable team the Falcons franchise has ever had by any measure; they’ll be a force to be reckoned with for a long time to come if they can stay healthy.

If the Falcons and Eagles meet and the Falcons lose in that late January showdown, what agony would it be, what injustice to the city, the franchise and the fans who’ve waited so long for a championship, to hear the sounds of exuberant celebration from the stands chanting the name of the man whose cruel, irresponsible actions derailed all of our hopes a few years ago? I hope and believe that chapter of Michael Vick’s life is behind him; I just wish all of the fans in Atlanta could turn the page and move on as well. I hope that the NFC Championship game is, like the ones before it, a true Dome-field advantage and that everyone comes out to cheer for our Atlanta Falcons! True fans cheer for the name on the front of the jersey, not the one on the back. Folks, this 2010 Falcons team has worked hard, maybe even beaten a few teams slightly above their own current talent level, because of a single, team-minded focus to bring Atlanta a Lombardi Trophy. I hope our fans and their loyalty will in turn prove worthy of their efforts whomever they should face; they deserve that much, win or lose.

If the Falcons lose out and the Saints win out, the Saints win the division based on the the division record (4-2 for the Falcons, 5-1 for the Saints). That is why the Falcons did not win the division yet. I also have to disagree with Mark’s assessment. Being a Bears fan, I think the Bears are more of a threat than people give them credit for. I think that the lost last week woke them up. If the Bears luck up and get home field advantage the Falcons don’t want to play in Soldier Field in late January.

Good article, but with that being said, I wish you hadn’t have written it. By bringing up a potential match up against the Eagles in 5 weeks, you are overlooking a lot of important games before that. Before we worry about the seedings in the playoffs, we need to take care of the immediate business before us. The Saints still know they have an outside chance of winning the division, so they will come here next Monday ready to play their hearts out. If the Falcons were to lose that game, you have a Panthers team coming in with nothing to lose and wanting to beat a division rival and we all know how dangerous teams with nothing to play for can be.

Falcons’ fans, let’s not look ahead of what could possibly be. Let’s look at what is right in front of us…what could be our most important game in the Dimitroff/Smith/Ryan/Turner era.

Great job Mike Smith, Matt Ryan and the entire Falcons team. It was just 3 years ago when the Falcons hit rock bottom when Vick was sentenced to prison… But good prevailed and we are now 12-2. It is good to see that Vick is continuing to rehabilitate himself…………………yet, I hope that the Eagles & Vick do not play in the GA Dome! There are too many memories of how Vick’s poor choices harmed the City of Atlanta and the Atlanta Falcons footall team.

With that said….look at the Falcons now, they have entered the arena of an ELITE football team and have done so with much class….every player on the team!! PLAYOFFS HERE WE COME!!!

As far as I’m concerned, the only thing that a Falcons Vs Eagles NFC Championship game would prove is that the Gods of Football have a delicious sense of humor. For the first twenty years of my life, I, being a native of Philly (born & bred) suffered through some Godawful seasons, sort of like you early Falcon fans. Now, as a proud transplant to Atlanta, I would love to see our Falcons defeat my Eagles for a trip to the big dance. Bittersweet, for sure, but satisfying nonetheless. (Before someone attempts to label me a “Damn Yankee”, I must tell you that this past August My family and I observed our twentieth year of residency in the great state of Georgia. So I’m a Damn Yankee no more.

Great win for the Falcons although the breaks we got certainly did not hurt. I believe Falcons vs. Eagles
would be a great and exciting game for NFC championship.
However, as an earlier post mentioned, I believe the game itself would be completely overshadowed by the media hype about the Michael Vick angle.

Congratulations FALCONS! Lets keep it rollin! Here is how I see the playoffs playing out:

Falcons and Eagles get a first round bye.
Saints go out to play NFC West Crappy Team (and Saints will win)
Giants go out and play Chicago Bears. (and Giants will win)
Falcons and Eagles first round bye

Second Round:
Saints will have to go to Philly (because of their better record than the Giants)
Giants will have to come to Atlanta (Because Atlanta has the best NFC record, they will have to play the team with the worst record between Saints and Giants, in this case it will be the Saints).

Saints will lose to Philly in Philly. Giants will lost to the Falcons in the Dome. Setting up the epic battle between Atlanta and Philly Eagles in the GAME EVERYONE wants to see happen – Even the NFL. Its destiny. Michael Vick returns to Atlanta. WE will win. FALCONS going to the super bowl to face the Patriots. The Superbowl champions remain in the NFC South.

I will say this, I hope the Saints beat the Eagles because I REALLY don’t want NO part of Vick and the Eagles. Vick coming here and the Eagles will be very, very ugly on so many levels. Racially, it is going to be down right nasty. I can see fights happening in the parking lot tail gate between Vick supporters (which I am) and the Falcons supporters (Which I am more than anything). And God knows what is going to look and sound like inside the dome. Arthur Blanks worst night mare is to see half the building cheering the eagles (which we lose home field advantage) and the other half cheering he falcons.

Wow. Epic event. So I just as soon see the Saints beat the Eagles in Philly and we have to play the Saints in Atlanta for the NFC Conference Championship and a trip for the Superbowl on the line. the Saints will win Monday, I believe, and we will win the following week vs. the Panthers for home field advantage I love our chances against the Saints more so than the Eagles.

I REALLY don’t want to see MV7 at the Dome mostly because of the circus that would surround the entire game. Also, there are the Vick-o-phants who would love nothing more than to see MV7 stick it to the falcons as if the falcons were the bad guy in that whole dogfighting scenario. Vick —followed by Petrino — burned this franchise and now it has risen from the ashes like a phoenix.

Then again, to see the falcons FINALLY beat the Eagles and especially MV7 then go on and beat the Pats to win a superbowl would be worthy of making a movie about.

Here is what makes this team capable of going to Dallas this year. They take one day and one game at a time. They leave it to the pundits and the bloggers to be concerned about the Eagles and other teams that we MAY play in the playoffs. The Saints come in with the South and the home field advantage on the line. No disrepect here Mark but, to hell with the Eagles. This next game just became the biggest of the year. I hope we do have the chance to be concerned about playing the Eagles this year. Just not right now.

Certain teams seem to have the number of other teams. Don’t know why, wish I did. There’s no way I want to see the Falcons play Philadelphia. In the past, the eventual Super Bowl winner doesn’t end up playing the team that would have beat them, since somebody else unexpectedly does the job. Maybe that will be the case this year.

Sometimes it isn’t the best team that wins it all, it is the most fortunate team.

I’m worried about this Saints game! How would you play it? Do you go all out and possibly risk injury against the Saints when all we have to do is beat the Panthers? If we do have injuries I think we go to the SUPER BOWL! But the Saints are going to come hunting for our heads. How about letting the second stringers play for the SAINTS game, come back and whip the PANTHERS get home field advantage and go to the SUPER BOWL!

Omg…what a terrible post! I am not black but have been rooting for vick all season, until/when he plays the falcons of course. The man paid a 100 million dollar price and went to prison and did his time. I’m sure all of that did change him and he grew up. What is the point of rehabilitation if you don’t give the person a second chance? I feel sorry for people who think they are better than other people and judge them so harshly. Go Falcons!

Dante Stallworth drove drunk and ran a guy over, killing him. Sentence was 24 days in jail I think.
Mike Vick kills some dogs. Sentence was 23 months in jail.

I’ve always felt like we should have at least kept the rights to Vick, and seen what would have happened after a few practices. What would an offense with both Ryan and Vick have been like? Sick, unstappable, amazing, I tell you. No QB controversy; just play them both, at different times, sometimes in different situations, sometimes at the same time. A good OC would figure this out. Vick in the slot would absolutely freeze a defense.

And can you imigine the storylines??

=> Vick returns to ATL repentant
=> Vick and Blank kiss and make up

This city has always loved him. Blank should have capitalized on that.

Vick is a special talent. Now it is very possible that we could get beaten by the star-kissed QB that that we discarded simply because he embarrassed us.

Stallworth’s accident was a tragedy. Lapse in judgment and something bad happened for which he’s genuinely sorry.

Vick’s actions were no accident. He INTENTIONALLY killed those dogs. He INTENTIONALLY promoted dog fighting. He INTENTIONALLY lied about all of it. He said he was “sorry” – after he got caught and was forced to stop.

I think everyone is forgetting the last year Vick played here he was not very good and then it was not only the crime he committed but he flat out lied to everyone about his wrong doings. The lying is the main thing and who would know how he would have turned out when he got out of prison. As it looks now, Philly will have to beat both New Orleans and Atlanta to get to the Super Bowl. If they do it, more power to them, with their human high light QB. However, lets also give the offensive line credit for protecting him and the defense for shutting down most of their competition in the crunch. What New York fail to realize was that you don’t run up two or three touchdown lead and sit on it, you have to follow the New England strategy of keeping your foot on their neck and pouring it on for 4 quarters. I really don’t see the Falcons doing that with their conservative approach, and only if New Orleans takes them out will the Falcons have a chance to even reach the superbowl.

It is my understanding that the Falcons have not only clinched a playoff spot, they have clinched the Division. Even if(God forbid)they lose the last two games and the Saints should win out, they would be tied and the Falcons would win a tiebreaker by their victory over Cleveland. Right?

DID NO ONE EVEN FOLLOW THE TRIAL?!! Everyone makes ignorant comments without even knowing the details of the case. So-called Michael Vick fans just read the headlines on ESPN but don’t want to know the details of his actions.

Can you honestly say that someone who can grab a dog by it’s legs and repeatedly slam it against the concrete until it is nothing but a lifeless bloody mess can be fully rehabilitated? Someone who can hold a dog under water while it struggles and slowly watch it die has deep psychological problems.

I was the biggest #7 fan but i will not root for him. He is a disgrace off the field, and an EAGLE on the field.

Yes he can be rehabilitated…and who are you to judge? Can someone (ray lewis) who won’t even acknowledge the two men who died that night be rehabilitated? Can someone who rapes young girls (big ben) be rehabilitated? I think it is such a double standard…I think killing an actual human being should get a long prison sentence, not probation. The man did his time and is trying to get on with his life…worry about your own life instead of his.

Every time Michael Vick’s name is mentioned on this blog, when I read the arguments between his fans and Falcon fans, I feel sick. Yes, Michael Vick may very well beat the Falcons in the conference game, which would sicken the real Falcon fans, and delight his diseased supporters. Michael Vick is a diseased soul, and so are the Atlantans who support him against the Falcons. Why do they love him so much? Is it simply because he is gifted with superior physical ability? I don’t think so. What does mere strength prove? His strength was also greater than that of those beaten-down dogs whose heads he gleefully smashed against his driveway; does he deserve love for that? Child molesters are stronger than their victims — does that excuse their actions? The Nazis were stronger than France and Poland, too. Should we have cheered their victories? He is a bad guy, people. Why is that so hard for his supporters to see, and so hard for those in the media to admit? Arthur Blank did exactly the right thing by cutting ties with this foul, sick man. Thomas Dimitroff, Mike Smith and Matt Ryan have built an honest, solid team we Atlantans should all be proud of. But Michael Vick’s Atlanta supporters now hate their own city’s team. Why? Apparently, they hate them simply because of their goodness, in the same way that Dracula can’t stand the sight of a cross. Maybe the good, honest, hard-working, humble Falcons shine too much light onto their own dark corners and make them hate themselves. Matt Ryan may lack some of Michael Vick’s natural physical gifts, but Michael Vick lacks every ounce of Ryan’s character. But “good guys finish last,” as the pessimistic old saying goes. If Vick circles the field at The Georgia Dome victorious, having beaten down his old team, to the delight of his sick supporters, it will be a dark day for the rest of us in Atlanta. But maybe, just maybe, the good guys will prevail just this once. We can only hope so. What a true redemption that would be. GO FALCONS!

One good thing about these Atlanta Falcons is:

1) They have REAL leaders in Mike Smith, Matt Ryan and Michael Turner
2) They beat a team down. Time of possession is critical. The Falcons offense is on the field 2/3rds of the game giving a powerful offense very little time on the field, while wearing down the defense by the beginning of the 4th quarter.
3) They are a MUCH better team than 9 weeks ago when they lost in Philly to Kevin Kolb.
4) Their defense, even though they have holes, are ranked 7th in the league in points against. That is the most critical stat for a defense. They may bend, but they do not give up huge point totals.
5) There is NO WAY this Falcon team would have lost the game to Philly like the Giants did. They would have run the clock.
6) Even if the Falcons would have been tied, with THIS Falcon team, and we have seen it time and time again, with over 1:00 left in the game, that is an eternity for Ryan to come back and win. (Check Chicago in 2008, Baltimore and Green Bay this year)
7) This team is for real and fears no one. I don’t care if it’s Brady, the Mannings, Bres, or Vick, this team will stare them down and beat them, especially NOW. Not 9 weeks ago.
For anyone who say that the Falcons can only win at home, check the stats. The Falcons are now 6-2, with three road wins in a row, and 4 of their last 5 wins are on the road.
9) This team DOES NOT CHOKE.
10) Let’s do as Mike Smith has said, let’s take 1 game at a time. Ryan is 32-12 as a starter, 19-1 at home. This is not your OLD Falcons.

He already said they Falcons are going to lose to the Saints. Tell Herbert his team is going to lose and tell Matt Ryan is going to eat his Defense alive. He said “that Reggie Bush wasn’t in the first meeting but he back now so the Falcons better watch out”. He also said ” The Who Dat Nation travel well and we are going to go that dome in Atlanta drown out a lot of Falcons fans”. He said that the Falcons have had a easy schedule this year and that why they are 12-2. They couldn’t beat the tough teams like Pittsburgh and Philadelphia even though both teams had backup QB. He said teams like Arizona, San Francisco, Cleveland, Cincinnati, St. Louis, Green Bay, Tampa Bay, and Carolina aren’t really tough teams. They struggle with San Francisco who is 5-9 and if that CB player ran out of bounds the Falcons would be 11-3. All I will say, is we will see. I think so many are taking for granted that the Eagles and Falcons will play each other. If the Eagles are the 3rd seed, they will either take on the Giants (can you say crumble) again or the New Orleans Saints in the FIRST Round. Remember the Bears hold the second seed under the Falcons if they tie or have a better record than the Eagles because they kicked their tails in Chicago.
If the Eagles are the second seed under the Falcons, then it looks like they would either play the Bears or the Saints.
I don’t see them beating either the Bears or Saints. Their hope is based upon playing that BUM let me lay down Giants team to advance, only to play the Saints which will kill them.

Frankly, I think every team in the playoffs will be a threat this year, minus the NFC West winner. The Falcons deserve to be where they are at, but the playoffs is a place for hot teams and hot players. Teams like Philly are clearly a threat. So is New Orleans who has remained solid and will be confident. So is even a team like Indianapolis, who with Manning should always be taken seriously no matter how much worse the team seems right now.

The real key for Atlanta is the home field. At home, Atlanta is going to have an advantage. Still, they don’t strike fear in their opponents despite being a darn good team, and they must be ready for everyone’s A game. A superb offensive performance by an opponent is something to worry about, as we saw against Philly earlier this year.

Yeah, Ryan is only in his third season (third straight winning season that is) and this will be his second time in the playoffs, (as many as the great MV7 took us to in 6 years).
Ryan may be 0-1 as a rookie in the playoffs, but after this season he will be 3-1 with a SB win, while Vick is signing a big contract so he can give 50% of it back to the creditors he screwed while STD’ing, Weeding, and killing.

Ryan is 32-12 as a starter. With one more win he will tie Dan Marino for the most wins for a QB in the first three years.
Ryan is 19-1 at home.

What separates the Eagles vs the Falcons the most is their front office and Andy Reid. When they draft they really do their home work – no wasted picks and they don’t spend their drafts with wasted number one picks.

You are right, there is nothing wrong with fans supporting their team. However, this article by Bradley and all the messages on this blog are about a NFC championship game between the Falcons and the Eagles. To me that suggests a belief by everyone on this site that the other NFC playoff teams, including the defending SB champs, are a mere nuisance to the Falcons before they get to the Eagles. If the Falcons have that mindset, it will indeed be a short playoff season for them. That was the intent of my post. Please read more carefully before responding next time.

“Reality Check,” if Andy Reid is such a great coach, then why does he allow his players to be penalized for showboating so much? Why does he let Jackson do that stupid backsplash into the end zone as he did the other day, costing his team a penalty? Remember when Jackson spiked the ball on the one-yard line last year, costing his team the touchdown? Why does he allow him to run around like a fool in the end zone before taking a knee, taunting the other team, costing them another penalty? Why does he allow him to run along the one-yard line from sideline to sideline before scoring the touchdown, as he did yesterday? The Eagles simply have two or three of the fastest players in the NFL, that’s all. They exhibit extremely poor sportsmanship, and Reid allows it to go on. This is lousy coaching, and one of these days it’s going to cost them a GAME – hopefully, in this year’s playoffs.

Bradley you’re on to something.

It would appear – assuming a division championship and the #1 seed – that the road to the SB will run through BOTH the Saints and the Eagles. Crazy. It doesn’t get any more poetic or cosmic than that.

Both teams have tormented us this year and in years past. One, a loud and obnoxious arch-rival, is the defending SB champions whose fans never seemed to have learned how to win with class. But that’s OK, they lost a bit of swag with that loss to the Ravens.

The other is led by a QB with more history and drama with our town to officially label him as an abusive ex-lover. While true, the Eagles have beaten us, it was Kolb and not Vick.
If we see the Eagles again it will be Vick, like a Caesar, returing to the Forum – and we all know what happened after that.

The moon and stars seem to be lining up and directing our gaze in the direction of those two teams – and all I can say is I wouldn’t want it any other way.

Ryan is good, but to say he far superior to Vick is incorrect in my opinion. Ryan could do nothing without a solid running game. Vick can throw the ball just as well as Ryan – and Vick has more arm strength – yet Vick has no equal when it comes to QB’s running the ball. Really??? This tired arguement continues? I am glad I no longer reside in Atlanta. Vick is doing well, and I am glad for him. However, to act like it is the fans and Falcons fault he is no longer on the team is delusional. Vick has admitted that he did not work hard in Atlanta.

He is a good player and looks really sharp this year. I wish we could have seen more of that player during his time in ATL.

He spent 5 LONG YEARS at Boston College and not once did he lead his team to the lousey A.C.C. title game, and to top it off he threw 22 PICKS as a 5th year senior.

I guess that is why Ryan CHOKES so much when the game is on the line(ie Arizona)

Don’t focus on the Eagles. The Saints are the Falcons problem right now and all attention should be given to them, the NFC Division crown, and the #1 seed. The Eagles right now are not in the playoffs and won’t even the #2 seed after the Bears win in Minnesota tonight. Worry about them when and if we have too. Right now, my money is on the Bears and the Falcons playing in the title game.

Numbers wise — NO. Rings wise — YES.

Dilfer – one.
Marino – ZERO.

All those years, and only bad knees to show for it. The one time he went to the supeerbowl with the dolphins he choked. Dilfer, when he had his chance, made it happen. So much for stats……

Look…what is comes down to is that the falcons have found ways to win games all season. I’m sorry you are bitter that the falcons won the game against the saints…it happens. We all know that the team the ultimately wins it all has to have a combination of skill and good luck. A bad bounce here , a missed field goal can make the difference in a season. Go Falcons!

Can’t we just all get along?

I, for one, would be intrigued by a Falcons-Eagles NFC Championship.

I just hope that if the game does happen, the city of Atlanta will turn out in droves and support the Falcons, who are the city’s team. Anyone who likes Vick is certainly entitled to like him and wish him success, but if you are an Atlantan and you have any sense of civic pride or regional idetity, it should be a no-brainer that you are pulling for the Falcons to get to, and win, the Superbowl.

I actually don’t have terrible feelings about Michael Vick. I loved watching him play when he was here, was disgusted by his actions with the dog fighting mess and, to some extent, disgusted by the way the whole thing was overblown by the national media and groups like PETA. I think, regardless of his motivations (since I don’t know the man personally, I don’t feel qualified to judge them), he handled the fall out as best as he could, served the sentence he was given, and has generally said and done almost all the right things since being released from Federal prison. I find that I still enjoy watching Michael Vick play football immensely because I’ve never seen any other player do the things he does.

All that said, this current Falcons team is as likeable as any team I’ve ever followed. And if there’s any real justice in the world, their season won’t end at the hands of Michael Vick. The Falcons were, on some level, lucky that the Vick situation happened when and how it did. They were also smart enough to go out and get Thomas Dimitroff, Mike Smith, Matt Ryan, and Michael Turner shortly thereafter, which has made all the difference. Absent those four remarkable hires, the Vick situation could have doomed the Falcons to a decade of rebuilding, given the fact that the entire team and payroll was built around him. And so, while the Falcons own luck/skill avoided a serious fallout from Vick’s arrest, it could have and probably should have been a lot worse. And for that, if for no other reason, the Falcons DESERVE to beat the Eagles on their way to a Superbowl crown.
