I would rather Spurrier and the Gamecocks win! Spurrier is a lot like Mr. Haney because he is always peddling crazy stuff and Granny fried a few of them gamecocks when the game was scare out there in Beverly Hills! Well, it’s tough having mixed feelings on this one. Like most others, at any other time I would have said that I would pull for Auburn just to see an undefeated SEC team in the championship game and hopefully win the national title to continue to display the strength of our SEC. But there’s a big piece of me now wanting to see SC dispense Auburn in a humiliating fashion. It’s tough realizing that I actually said this………and I still think Auburn will probably win tomorrow………but I will, however, be rooting for the chickens and their dreaded ball coach in this one (choke, cough, gag, upchuck, etc)!!

Auburn Man – Any attempt to hurt another player is wrong, whether it is my team or yours. The chop block by Georgia was reprehensible, deserved to be flagged, and ought to have greater consequences. The six personal fouls were wrong. However, it was not at all typical of the Georgia team this year. Before that game, we had very few penalty yards per game (<50). Whatever was happening on that field wasn't good. My point all along is that the officials let dirty plays go by, hot-dogging, and taunting, and it got out of control. The SEC office, by not punishing the dirty hits, put its stamp of approval on it. The adults weren't the adults. The SEC will find the money train derailed if it doesn't get it under control.

Auburn Man…As a matter fact I did go to UGA. My “classy” comments stem from the fact that Fairley is a punk and is dirty. And yes I played the game and I know dirty from good hard, clean playing football. If Fairley knocks the living snot out of my quarterback within the rules (and taking two to three steps and spearing him in the back with INTENT to injure) is clearly not within the rules I can understand and respect that because that is part of the game. Fairley lifing a quarterback up and then leaving his feet to pile drive him is excessive with INTENT to injure not hurt. There is a difference. I played linebacker and yes our INTENT was to make it very painful for the rb’s and qb whenever possible. Notice I said painful, pain is part of the game to intentionally try to end someones career is not. Fairley is dirty and if he takes that play to the league I promise you he will get the living crap kicked out of him. Even though I HATE Spurrier I will never root for Auburn to win another game. They are now below Tech and FL in my book and that says alot. .

Neither can I root for, but my conscience says pull for a jerk (Spurrier) over a convicted thief (stolen laptop), a cheater (Florida exams) and an apparent prostitute, as Newton exemplifies.

Simply, I will pull for the the lessor of two “evils” in South Carolina as thieves and cheaters aren’t worthy of a championship in any form.

Funny. I see why people dislike AU and are pulling albeit reluctantly for Spurrier. These same guys used to always talk about Spurrier’s lack of class when he would throw a bomb up by more than 20 points late in the 4th qtr. against some horrible Goff led UGA team. I’ve always liked Spurrier even when he was thrashing us and remarking how it was a shame when the AU library had a fire and “some of the books weren’t even colored in yet.” If you can win at SC you can win anywhere. It has been a coaching coffin corner forever. Hats off to him and it would surprise me not one bit if he comes out of the Dome with a win. Bradley’s seamless transition from “journalist” to blogger is remarkable. Nearly hard to differentiate his stuff from the idiocy of we commenters…except, inexplciably, he draws a check.

The UGA AU series has always been a fairly friendly one-but no more. I was in Auburn for the game and the way the Auburn fans behaved mirrored the ridiculous behavior of their team. And lest anyone say this is sour grapes, let me just say that I have been there several times (incl ‘04) and have never seen it like this year.

As to the issue of Fairley, I have never seen a game where one player made more dirty plays to the delight of his coaches (Trooper?) and fans. (not to mention the fact that he almost half killed Parker and/ or Mallett). And I still HAVE NOT HEARD ONE BARNER FAN SAY HE DID ANYTHING IN THE LEAST DIRTY!

Forget Cam! The real villains are Fairley and the classless “all-in” Auburn fans.

Maybe the young Dawgs can root for Spurrier. But the rest of have too much history. And outside of this year and the ‘hosing’ incident back in the 80′S, the Auburn rivalry has always been a clean one.

Spurrier on the other hand has been nothing shorty of nasty. He ‘lived’ to beat Georgia for the longest time.

USC fans are good fans, but embracing Spurrier changed a lot of things. Georgia fans need to realize that Spurrier starts planning for Georgia far before Georgia starts planning for South Carolina. You can count on a ’super effort’ from that team when playing Georgia every year.

Auburn’s fans over-all are a class group. Some have gone over the top in defending Fairley and the rest of the stuff going on there will take care of itself one way or the other.

This is easy. Pulling for Auburn.

I always said it would be a cold day in hell when I pulled for
Spurrier. This weekend’s weather report calls for a major freeze
down below.
One thing you can always say for Spurrier is that you go to
class and behave or you sit then possibly leave. The sight of a

Auburn is tied as the SECOND MOST PENALIZED PROGRAM IN NCAA HISTORY ( FACT) and the scum that got them there are still lurking around the program. I didn’t like Spurrier but I respected him.

I (mostly) liked Auburn and respected them.

But after this year, my respect for Auburn has greatly diminished. Every SEC fan I know–and I know fans for every school except Miss. State–has commented on Fairley’s dirty play and Chizik’s refusal to rein him in.

If USC wins, at least they won’t have to worry about Auburn turning the hoses on their fans. Auburn has cheated long enough (been on probation as much or more than any team in NCAA history) that they just don’t get the benefit of the doubt here. Aubie fans don’t seem to understand that they are looked at with skepticism based on their very tainted history. In fact, the last time they were this close to winning an NC in the late 50’s, they were on probation and couldn’t be recognized. Go Cocks!

Spurrier’s only guilty of beating UGA mercilessly while at UF, throwing barbs at Ray Goff (didn’t Goff’s own players and supporters do the same), and still being better than you at golf. He does things the right way. Kicked what was thought to be his best player off the team when it became apparent he was involved in the hotel thing. Spurrier is good for college football. Newton (Scam and Rev/Brother Cecil), Fairley, Chizik, Taylor, Lowder and the entire Auburn family are not. They have always been and always will be dirty. I am an SEC fan, but i truly hope that when the season is over, the NCAA and BCS have counted all the money generated and thr checks have cleared, that the NCAA slaps Auburn with a “Death Penalty” type of punishment. The crux of this article is all UGA fans can ever hope for, decide who to cheer for in the SEC title games….of course it is all about being a part of the glorious SEC. Again, UGA is like having the ugliest home in an upscale neighborhood, no matter what they try and do, they just cannot get thier mobile home looking respectable.

I saw Auburn man comments. HUGE difference in lineman late hitting, cut blocking and dirty playing on the line of scrimmage, and defensive linemen taking cheap shots at the QB who cannot defend himself because he is throwing or has just thrown the ball. The guy is back there defenseless and UNFairley is lowing his helmet, there are at least three incidents should on that short clip of the guy hitting murray with his helmet lowered. But he has been doing ALL SEASON LONG, and the SEC officials give him a pass. Seems if you are undefeated SEC officials call a different game. IMHO.

I am for Carolina. I hate Spurrier but I hope he pulls a rabbit out his backside and stuns the War chicken nation.

How long will it take readers of Bradley and Schlutz (sounds like a cheap law firm) to realize that the only reason they write columns like this one is to assure that they receive the maximum number of comments. Newspaper are dying. Subscriptions and advertising revenue are in the toilet. I receive the AJC online free (and its worth exactly what I pay for it). At one time they had what I consider the best sports coverage of football in the South. To prove my point, exactly what is the value of UGA fans support or non-support of Auburn in this week’s championship game? Why are they not writing about game prep, what is going on at the two schools involved in the game? Two reasons (1) reporters are lazy and don’t want to have to work too hard to get a story and (2) a story exclusively devoted to Auburn and/or South Carolina would not command the number of responses they want so they can prove to the publisher that they are revelant. If the AJC believed in responsible journalism (is that an oxymoron?) they would require all responses to include “actual names” just as letters to the editor do. I look forward to the day when Bradley and Schlutz join Terrence Moore.

Jarvis Jones, Sitting out this year because he transferred from Southern Cal, all 6′3″ 245 pounds of him, rated the #1 head hunting LB coming out of Carver Columbus two years ago, I think we all know what his assignment will be EVERY Play next year against AU. @Georgia87, if the SEC followed the definition of rules, then the vast majority of the UGA team would have been ineligible to play against Tech for leaving the bench. So, as you disparage the SEC for its ruling or nonruling involving Auburn players, your argument would have much more merit if you involved the UGA situation as well.

I’ve been an Auburn fan first, UGA fan a close second (going to the majority of UGA home games). However, I’m amazed at the true colors of a faction of UGA fans. Not all mind you, but a faction. Had people that I work with, whom I thought were friends, who have still not spoken to me since that game. It’s unfortunate that people who have no real involvement in the program (as a former player, coach, heck, sometimes even student) to the point that they can’t speak. It’s a college football game. It would be a miserable life to keep living in a state of bitterness like this. It’s over, nothing will be done about it, go recruit some kids, hope that Fairley leaves, hope that Newton leaves, and try again next year. I digress. Let the bitterness and complaining continue.

I read an article a few weeks ago that sources close to the FBI said that Cam Newton was not mentioned on wiretaps.

Here’s a thought: the FBI is a government body, they are under no obligation to give findings to the NCAA, which is not a government institution. The NCAA cannot subpoena the FBI or their records. I would find it incredible if the FBI just gave the NCAA all it’s info. I don’t think that the NCAA will be able to find anything on Auburn as a result of an FBI investigation because I don’t think the FBI will give them the info. Furthermore, those gambling lobbyists, gambling owners, bankers, etc, also have their hand in UA, so the NCAA certainly won’t go after them.

If UGA were a decent team, you would also get preferential treatment by the NCAA. But, since UGA football is mediocre you get punished for selling a jersey on ebay for chump change.

It is all a big conspiracy. I heard that Slive, Chizik, the Newtons and the NCAA were laughing (diabolically) it up sharing a drink in Buckhead. Fairley was the body guard. They were probably telling UGA jokes.

I’ve never seen such blatant jealousy from a fan base in all of my life! If I were the typical sidewalk, Billy Bob Georgia fan that’s venomously posting on here, I’d be much angrier as to why Georgia has had another sub-par season with nothing to offer but more excuses. Auburn’s playing in the SEC championship with a potential national championship game and Cam Newton’s been vindicated by the NCAA against the rumors and innuendos that have been leveled against him by Bradley and his fellow journalistic hacks.

Let’s be realistic Georgia fans, your program peaked under Coach Richt five to seven years ago and despite your supposedly lauded recruiting classes, has continue to slip into a sea of mediocrity. The only thing that really propels the program is that every pre-season so called ‘journalists’ like Bradley predict that UGA will win the national championship, but then they’ll go 6-5 and be fortunate to make it to a toilet bowl.

Fairley is a great player, but also a dirty player. Only a THUG with great ability would have tried to end Murray’s season with the knee shot.

@SoCal, Curious as to why. The allegations, which are just that. Or the dirty play? If it’s “dirty play” then you should be very disappointed with the Dawgs. They are the only team from the SEC in the top 10 in personal fouls in the NCAA this year. As this loss of respect interfered with your work, relationships with others, etc? The point I was trying to get at, is that if a college football game is more important than personal relationships, work, etc, then that person (not necessarily you) has bigger problems than who wins the SEC championship.

Gotta root for Carolina! No way can I root for a program as dirty as Auburn. Yeah Spurrier kicked out butts all those years and he was brash and arrogant about it. However, everything he said about us was true. I think that was why we hated him so bad. His teams were better than ours and his coaching was better and there was nothing we could say as a comeback. That is the one thing about him that you have to at least respect. He says what he thinks and he is upfront about it. Gene Chizik and Urban Meyer are snakes-in-the-grass. They are like the sneaky punk at school who is always doing wrong but weasels their way out of getting caught.

It’s not so much that his on the field play elevated significantly. It’s more about his lack of control to stop playing when he’s supposed to. When combined with his extreme rise in play and also combined with the stench coming from everything Auburn these days… it’s not that far fetched to think it’s possible. I wish that they could both lose, and this is the best scenario. Auburn wins a close game, Newton is outvoted in the Heisman race because of suspicions of Reggie Bush redux, and evidence of payment by AU boosters to Newton’s father surfaces. Auburn is sanctioned, it loses scholarships and vacates its wins and championship, goes on probation, and SC is retroactively declared the champion 2 years after the fact when no one cares, it is losing again, Spurrier has retired, and there is a big fat asterisk by its win. SC never wins another SEC Championship, and Cocks fan are forever after forced to defend their one time event of “SEC Champion.”

That would be beautifully chaotic.

As an Auburn graduate and fan and living in a House Divided with UGA graduates, I have loved and followed both teams. I attend most of the the UGA games since we live near Athens. Although the Dawgs in my family handled the loss with grace and dignity, I have been absolutely appalled at the vituperous HATRED directed toward me individually, my alma mater, Auburn fans and Auburn players FROM THE UGA FANS. I have Bama friends who have acted much classier and are actually supporting Auburn to win the SEC. In my frequent visits to UGA games, I have noticed a sense of entitlement from the students and fans. What I saw (and this could be said for the AU/Bama game as well) was that UGA went up early so they assumed they were pulling off the upset of the year. How dare Auburn come back and win!!! The Georgia fans are mad as the devil….the Bama fans are tipping their houndstooth hats. I don’t get it. I know there are factions at every school who can make any sporting event miserable, but other than Florida, UGA seems to be the worst. I decided this year I was going to buy a ticket and sit in the Auburn section…it was not the Auburn section. Being an older woman with a temporary disability, I had the “pleasure” of sitting behind two UGA male fans who stood up on their seats (not on the concrete, but on their seats) the whole game. I asked them politely if they could sit down occasionally and was basically told “no”. So I moved….the UGA fan behind me kept dropping the *f* word. There were young children and elderly folks around. I asked the fan if he would use that kind of language in front of his grandmother and he said “yes”. BTW, I have never heard the use of the *f* word so much as it is by UGA students. Total lack of respect…but they are “entitled” to do whatever they want. Just go to St. Simons for the UGA/Florida game — you’ll witness first hand why the world is going to hell in a hand basket.

As for you Mr. Bradley, why can’t you just get over it??? Did you actually play football in your life? Talk to any player at any age and they will tell you that cheap shots and late hits happen all the time. That doesn’t make it right and I don’t condone it. But somehow you’re trying to make Nick Fairley out to be holding a monopoly on that type of behavior….why?? What do you stand to gain from constantly putting people down?

And as for the Auburn fan exuberance….if your school were having the kind of year Auburn has had, you might be doing cartwheels down Peachtree Street. Jealousy is an ugly trait.

I think I speak for ALL Georgia fans when I say that I hope that a massive, unexpected, once-in-a-lifetime earthquake hits downtown Atlanta at 4 p.m. tomorrow and swallows the whole freakin’ Georgia Dome.

I really don’t care about this one… I’d hate for either team to win. But I can’t worry about what two other school’s football programs are doing… I have enough in real life to deal with, PLUS if I’m going to worry about a football team, it’s going to be my Bulldogs and how we can fix a few things before next year.

I can’t wait for 10 years from now, though… Spurrier will still be making deals with the devil, Nick Fairley will be in prison somewhere, Cam Newton will be JaMarcus Russell, but Bulldog fans will still be supporting their team with their heart and soul… Go get ‘em next year, Dawgs!

You come off has half reasonable. Something few AU fans on these particular blogs do not. Can’t you read the hatred AU fans are projecting? I have to disagree with you and AU being the “most liked” SEC team ever or even remotely close to it. It doesn’t seem that way to me.

Last year I thought Tebow was the best college football player in the long history. As bad as I hated to admit it, there was none better than him and this isn’t just stats but the ability to carry a team and enforce his will. No one I have ever saw had that ability like Tebow. I am near 50 years old.

Then came Cam. Now I see Cam and I admit he is very likely the best ever. I was the first to jump to his defense when the accusations came out. Still do for the most part but this whole thing has become a complete circus and my experience tells me. Something don’t smell right here. In fact it fuggin REEKS. I am honestly astounded some of you AU fans don’t step forward and question Cam, Cecil, Yeller Man, Bobby and the rest.

I always had a healthy respect for AU. But the ability of the AU fans to stick their heads in the sand has baffled me

So when Auburn has ONE person who was accused of breaking the law a long time ago (stealing laptop at FL) everyone freaks out and says he is such a horrible person. But lets look back at all the “thug” UGA players who have been arrested, suspended, and been kicked off the team in the past 2 years. I think it only fair to call the UGA players “thugs” and not the Auburn players. Only Auburn names that have been mentioned are Cam and Fairley. Auburn is a very talented team, thats a fact. ARdawg, I couldn’t agree more. Although I certainly hated to see our team getting whipped by Tebow (3-1), I admired the program, Tebow as a player, and Meyer as a coach. I pointed to that program as one that I would want to emulate. *AU, on the other hand, has lied, cheated, and “thugged” it’s way to an SEC Championship game. And *Aubies, don’t kid yourselves, it’s just like the O.J. thing. *You may have gotten away with it for now, but karma is a real force. Just wait and see.

I remember that 16-12 game. We had Stafford, Moreno, Mossaquoi, and AJ all on the same offense ane we managed 12 pts. and looked inept and confused the whole day. Great job coaches.

TCU nor Boise deserves to be anywhere close to the NC game. I’d rather see an undefeated Auburn/Oregon.
