I ask: What would Thanksgiving be without our annual Field Guide to Tech and Georgia fans? You answer: “A heck of a lot better, you jerk!” Being the stickler for tradition that I am, I choose to ignore you and offer, in the spirit of the holiday, something guaranteed to make both sides spit cranberry sauce across the room. Enjoy!
• Georgia fans refer to Bobby Dodd Stadium as the Joke by Coke; Tech fans refer to the gesture made in Jacksonville by defensive coordinator Todd Grantham as the Choke by the Dope.
• Tech fans aren’t looking forward to a bowl trip to Shreveport; having heard about Shreveport every day for the past year, Georgia fans look forward to the Independence Bowl being renamed the Karma Bowl.
• Georgia fans are still miffed that Tech players appropriated some of Sanford Stadium’s hallowed hedges after winning two years ago; Tech fans are miffed their team has beaten Georgia once in the time it takes a redwood tree to grow to the sky.
• Tech fans found it amusing that A.J. Green sold his jersey for $1,000; Georgia fans find it amusing that Tech can’t sell out its stadium.
• Georgia fans are mortified that the Bulldogs considered Auburn quarterback Cam Newton a prospect to play tight end; Tech fans wouldn’t mind seeing their team sign a tight end just for the heck of it.
• Tech fans are tired of being reminded how lousy the ACC is; Georgia fans never tire of reminding Tech fans how lousy the ACC is.
• Georgia fans giggled when Tech lost at Kansas; Tech fans giggled harder when Georgia lost at Colorado; neither side has giggled much since.
• Tech fans are starting to wonder about coach Paul Johnson’s offensive approach; Georgia fans have long found Johnson’s approach — “Punch somebody in the face” — offensive.
• Georgia fans doubt that any Tech player really takes calculus; Tech fans doubt that any Georgia player has a valid driver’s license.
• Tech fans refer to Derrick Morgan, who left early for the NFL, as the one who got away; Georgia fans refer to Da’Rick Rogers, who signed elsewhere, as the one who went to Knoxville and got arrested.
• Georgia fans hate it that Steve Spurrier’s South Carolina program has passed them by; Tech fans would love it if their team completed a forward pass.
• Tech fans don’t know what to make of Al Groh, the new defensive coordinator; Georgia fans have a pretty good idea what to make of Mike Bobo, the not-new offensive coordinator.
• Georgia fans never knew broadcaster Chuck Dowdle was such a rabid Bulldog backer; Tech fans knew it all along.
• Tech fans are starting to wonder if Johnson could only win big with Chan Gailey’s players; Georgia fans are starting to wonder if Mark Richt could only win big with Jim Donnan’s players; both sides are starting to wonder, period.
• The Georgia fan’s credo: “We run this state”; the Tech fan’s retort: “Your players can run but they can’t drive.”
• Tech fans get really upset when an opposing coach complains about chop blocks; Georgia fans got really upset because Auburn lineman Nick Fairley played unfairly.
• Georgia fans scoff at Tech’s low recruiting rankings; Tech fans scoff at Georgia’s high recruiting rankings.
• The Tech fan’s favorite unintentionally funny video: “Party in the UGA”; the Georgia fan’s favorite unintentionally funny video: Joshua Nesbitt’s Heisman campaign.
• Georgia fans think Richt is a great pitchman for Ford trucks; Tech fans think Damon Evans would be a great pitchman for Victoria’s Secret.

How about what Tech and UGA have in common? UGA brought their APR up to second to Vandy in the SEC and surpassed Tech. Unfortunately, both are playing like Vandy. New Slogans, Tech replaced “Winning, it’s Chantastic” with “happiness is a big Johnson”. UGA dropped “finnish the drill” for “start the drill”.

Should be fun as both defenses are underwhelming.

That was actually mildly humorous. Dawg fans will really get annoyed when Bradley gets full swing into hoops blogs this season. So will Jacket fans. But, until then, Happy Thanksgiving and see you Saturday!

WOW im sorry to the many classy UGA fans, but this trash i see on the board is getting ridiculous. Anybody calling a GT fan a nerd comes off as either a 12 year old or a white trash redneck, which is what many of the UGA fans are. You say we have a joke of a program? we have more national championships, the most recent bcs bowl game, the first team to ever play in all of the major bowl games, don’t have half their team suspended. you say your campus is beautiful? your campus is a joke compared to Auburn, and so is your program. GT may not have the best campus, but by no means is the UGA campus beautiful. You say our girls are ugly? too bad after they graduate from GT they will be earning more money than you will ever know. For all you classless UGA fans, whom i assume never even attended UGA you give your school a bad name, and i’m sorry to most of the fan base of UGA that isn’t classless morons.

Correction Bradley, Belue is just an annoying radio guy to UGA fans also. I mean, really, 1 of 13 passing in a National Championship game; Belue owes everything he has to Herschel.

Belue simply handed the ball off to Walker and he punished GT all day, every day. In one of the last GT games for Walker, maybe his last …………….GT kept spitting in his face while on the turf, Dooley pulled Walker and when told what was going on, he allowed Walker back in. Walker punished GT for another 50 or 60 yds on 4 or 5 more carries and it ended up like 44-7.
GT ………………..when hit Saturday ………………..stay down, otherwise, we take the entire ugly 2010 season out on your lil team and your coach. We will abuse your secondary for like 345 yds and 5 TDS, plus another 140 yds by Ealey and King and another 2 TDS. It will be very ugly. The alumni demand it.

Paul Johnson is viewed as overweight, loud mouthed and profane – GT fans think he’s great, shows passion and fires up the team. UGA fans make jokes about him and say he is a blowhard who hasn’t done anything

Belue is what he is as a broadcaster, but he sure came in the game and led a furious UGA comeback against Tech in 1978 to win one of the best games I ever saw in person. And with no Herschel Walker either.

Todd .. You got it! Dogs win 29-28 on the two point conversion. This was after a TD pass by Belue down the sideline as he is being sacked. He came in to replace Jeff Pyburn. What a game!!

It was nuts! Fans were on top of the chemistry building watching the game. Others had been camping out on the bridge since Thursday night before the game. Belue could beat Tech without Herschel.

You left out one. How about the joke of the degrees their making up just to get people qualified. Next year I’m thinking of enrolling my kid for $60k so they can get one of those Recreation and Leisure Studies Degree. Oh wait they have plenty of others that I can choose from, Exercise Science, Housing, Sports Studies, Consumer Economics, Child and Family Development. Exactly how many people are listed in these because I want him to diversify. Not just be in with all football players. Oh ……. and that comes with a tutor, right ??
