Two years after the fact, Tech's hedge fun still rankles. (AJC photo by Brant Sanderlin)
I ask: What would Thanksgiving be without our annual Field Guide to Tech and Georgia fans? You answer: “A heck of a lot better, you jerk!” Being the stickler for tradition that I am, I choose to ignore you and offer, in the spirit of the holiday, something guaranteed to make both sides spit cranberry sauce across the room. Enjoy!
• Georgia fans refer to Bobby Dodd Stadium as the Joke by Coke; Tech fans refer to the gesture made in Jacksonville by defensive coordinator Todd Grantham as the Choke by the Dope.
• Tech fans aren’t looking forward to a bowl trip to Shreveport; having heard about Shreveport every day for the past year, Georgia fans look forward to the Independence Bowl being renamed the Karma Bowl.
• Georgia fans are still miffed that Tech players appropriated some of Sanford Stadium’s hallowed hedges after winning two years ago; Tech fans are miffed their team has beaten Georgia once in the time it takes a redwood tree to grow to the sky.
• Tech fans found it amusing that A.J. Green sold his jersey for $1,000; Georgia fans find it amusing that Tech can’t sell out its stadium.
• Georgia fans are mortified that the Bulldogs considered Auburn quarterback Cam Newton a prospect to play tight end; Tech fans wouldn’t mind seeing their team sign a tight end just for the heck of it.
• Tech fans are tired of being reminded how lousy the ACC is; Georgia fans never tire of reminding Tech fans how lousy the ACC is.
• Georgia fans giggled when Tech lost at Kansas; Tech fans giggled harder when Georgia lost at Colorado; neither side has giggled much since.
• Tech fans are starting to wonder about coach Paul Johnson’s offensive approach; Georgia fans have long found Johnson’s approach — “Punch somebody in the face” — offensive.
• Georgia fans doubt that any Tech player really takes calculus; Tech fans doubt that any Georgia player has a valid driver’s license.
• Tech fans refer to Derrick Morgan, who left early for the NFL, as the one who got away; Georgia fans refer to Da’Rick Rogers, who signed elsewhere, as the one who went to Knoxville and got arrested.
• Georgia fans hate it that Steve Spurrier’s South Carolina program has passed them by; Tech fans would love it if their team completed a forward pass.
• Tech fans don’t know what to make of Al Groh, the new defensive coordinator; Georgia fans have a pretty good idea what to make of Mike Bobo, the not-new offensive coordinator.
• Georgia fans never knew broadcaster Chuck Dowdle was such a rabid Bulldog backer; Tech fans knew it all along.
• Tech fans are starting to wonder if Johnson could only win big with Chan Gailey’s players; Georgia fans are starting to wonder if Mark Richt could only win big with Jim Donnan’s players; both sides are starting to wonder, period.
• The Georgia fan’s credo: “We run this state”; the Tech fan’s retort: “Your players can run but they can’t drive.”
• Tech fans get really upset when an opposing coach complains about chop blocks; Georgia fans got really upset because Auburn lineman Nick Fairley played unfairly.
• Georgia fans scoff at Tech’s low recruiting rankings; Tech fans scoff at Georgia’s high recruiting rankings.
• The Tech fan’s favorite unintentionally funny video: “Party in the UGA”; the Georgia fan’s favorite unintentionally funny video: Joshua Nesbitt’s Heisman campaign.
• Georgia fans think Richt is a great pitchman for Ford trucks; Tech fans think Damon Evans would be a great pitchman for Victoria’s Secret.

Whatever, I know plenty of Tech grads that are now lawyers and doctors. I also know UGA grads that are IT nerds. Sometimes stereotypes just aren’t very true.

The Georgia fans are the biggest whiners in the country. The Tech fans agree with that assessment.

Be sure to get to the game early because UGA will be having a pregameceremony to induct Reggie Ball’s jersey into the UGA Hall of Fame as one of the best players that UGA ever had.

And kansas beat colorado!
What’s going to be funny is when clemson beats sc, sc beats auburn. Don’t worry though, acc fans won’t be idiots like eric zeier and the thousands of moronic uga fans who said we’re acc champions.
and that clemson team is still the team that has come closest to beating all barn. while unc without 7 starters came within a blown pass int call to beating lsu the same way they beat tenn.

Tech doesn’t graduate any lawyers or doctors? haha…that’s entertaining considering I know a number of IP lawyers from Tech that start out making triple what any UGA grad makes. Try one of the highest medical school entrance percentages in the Southeast. I know it may be difficult, but percentages aren’t affected by total student enrollment…(number accepted divided by total attempted) that division can be tricky, check your math there bud. I can understand the nerd stereotype, minus the fact that uga fans would never have even seen them because they’re in their dorms writing code. It’s not our fault your football program went down the drain this year…at least we’ve been consistent
Real Tech and UGA fans alike appreciate Bradley’s release every year and look forward to some good old fashioned hate. As a Tech grad who has been to Sanford stadium on multiple accounts, I feel bad for the people who actually attended UGA as it’s the “I didn’t go to college” individuals that find their way into producing the bad reputation. I experienced a grown man who could have very well been my father’s age spit on me after barking in my face. Nothing screams more classy and intelligent…

One day at a Georgia elementary school, a teacher asked her class if the Georgia Tech Yellowjackets were their favorite football team. The whole class said yes, except for Jimmy.
The teacher asked, “What’s your favorite football team, Jimmy?”
Little Jimmy said, “The Georgia Bulldogs.”
The teacher asked, “Well, why is that?”
Little Jimmy said, “Well, my dad is a Bulldogs fan, my mom is a Bulldogs fan, so I guess that makes me a Bulldogs fan.”
The teacher, angered by his reply, said, “If your dad was a moron, and your mom was an idiot, what would that make you?”
Jimmy said, “Well, I guess that would make me a Yellowjacket fan.”

I said over 3 years ago, over and over, that it was only a mtter of time before Spurrier started to beat UGA – and would beat them year after year. He should have won last year, he won this year. Look for many, many more years of him beating UGA just like he did when he was at UF. UGA will never get back to the SEC championship game if they play SC every year.

Tech fans wonder why they waste time reading Bradley’s dumb columns, so do THUGA fans.
Mark, write something positive, why do you hate GT and THUGA so much… Are all Kentucky grads so envious of GT and THUGA. Stop feeding on the negative, kinda like a vulture.

DILLIGAF,
and then the teacher asked “Oh did your parent’s go to UGA Jimmy?” “Oh no, they didn’t go to college but they knew that UGA was the biggest state school with a football team that was usually decent, so now we’re die hard fans.”

The best thing I will take away from this football season is watching a UGA fan get beat silly in Columbia after talking trash to USC fans. The idiot was barking at them and saying UGA was #1 after being beat then spit on a girl and the rest was history.

as coach pj said before ” its never as good as it seems when you win and its never as bad as it seems when you lose” of cousre we are having a down year but coach pj earned for us to cut him some slack for what he did the 1st 2 years if in 2-3 years we are still average then then we should be concerned!! and for the people that think we will get blown out by ga yall are idiots, ga is 5-6 we are 6-5 both playing a easy schedule, this will be a shootout ,on paper ga should win with their talent but who knows stranger things have happened, the last 2 years the team soppose to win did not.
i like my team-tech to play its best game of the year tech wins 38-35

I thought the list was good. However, I still don’t understand how it is an indictment against UGA that Newton was considered a TE prospect. Cam Newton will never play QB in a pro system. He’s awesome for sure but he is an option QB.
