The thUGA and media frenzy trying to equate A.J. Green’s admission of guilt to Cameron Newton’s denial didn’t work. Green was suspended, Newton wasn’t. Accusations by shady characters without any shred of proof still carries the day, except in the media, with thUGA fans, and maybe Heisman voters. Newton trumped both Murray and Green – not many other players made a difference. Auburn more than doubled the predicted spread winning easily going away in the second half.

Nick Farley, just like Brandon Spikes, is a THUG. He intentionally tried to hurt Aaron Murray all night long. I don’t question his talent. I question his intentions. He intentionally tried to end Murray’s career with tackles that are illegal in the NFL (not College check it out). The helmet to the back. The helmet to the knee (game not in question) when the game wasn’t in doubt.

I disagree. CMR is to blame for a lot, having a rs freshmen playing this year and not last. Been to easy in practice, but who really thought we were going into Auburn to get a W ? Vegas didn’t, and nether did any real dawg fan.
We don’t have the players on D and thats on CMR as well. All that said, CMR is going to get it done. AM will be a lot better next year and so will the D. I actually liked what I saw at the end. A team that fought against a straight up dirty Auburn team. Glad we showed some heart and stood up for Aaron. It’s been a struggle for 2 years but CMR is going to get this thing turned around. Hang on Dawg fans.

I think UGA plays not to lose. I think they are weary of last season’s penalties and turnovers that they are trying not to make a mistake. We play passive and we are reactive to what the other team is doing on both offense and defense. As the article states, we are no longer the aggressors despite the fact that we have the cream of the crop as far as talent is concerned. We have out recruited Arkansas, Auburn, Colorado, Mississippi State and South Carolina.

I wouldn’t be real quick to praise Chizik until we find out all of the facts. If he has been playing with Reggie Bush then I think we will see his recent success in a whole different light. Richt has earned another year. The strength and conditioning program needs a jolt and we need to recruit some guys on defense. I think Richt, Bobo, and Grantham will turn this around if they are given a chance.

Im not in the business of rationalizing anything, yet without Scam auburn doesnt win this game. obviously our program has digressed to a point that bowl eligibility is no longer assumed when a season begins. thats a product of a decrease in commitment on so many levels. players think that just because three years ago UGA was ranked number 1 preseason they can do anything they feel like and get away with it. dont believe me? come to athens and watch them take advantage of professors, other students, even the poor dining hall staffers they abuse on a daily basis. they care more about driving around in there chevy impalas with 22s than they do about putting together a full football game.

its time for a culture shock in athens. unfortunately i dont think richt is the one whos going to produce that for us.

UGA’s issues are directly coaching related – period.

From the softness and lack of intensity in summer practice, poor character of recruits and to the lack of decisive action in game situations, it all goes back to one problem – one man – Richt.

As the SEC in the last half of the decade ramped up it’s level of coaching, simultaneously Richt’s capabilities or lack of them were exposed.

He is what I thought he was. Save us the embarrassment of termination.

Ralph – you better go back and look at Cam Newtons most recent interview. he didn’t deny anything – he pulled a Mark McGuire at the senate hearing on steroids – and stated that he just wanted to move on and didn’t want to talk about it. The stolen laptop is not conjecture – it happened and I suspect the academic fraud happened because Urban Meyer did not kick him off the team. If Urban was going to reinstate him, and he “left his heart in Gainesville” why would he have left Florida to go to a Junior College. He is a great athlete, but for everyone to be calling him some type of feel good story and a fine young man – come on, be serious. I don’t see how anyone that has any critical thinking skills can possibly be proud that they mad a deal with the devil to win football games.

look at the 2011 schedule…if we dont go at least 10-2, good bye richt. however, we are a better team then we were in weeks 2 and 3. mike bobo needs 2 go. the nfl needs 2 have a lockout. aj and j houston stays…and we can forget about the misery of this season! i am very dissapointed, but look at the talent we got…and were 5-6??? when would army and northwestern get bowl eligible before us??

For all you thuga fans that thought Fairley was taking cheap shots… I will give you the one in the back that was uncalled for and I was disgusted by it… otherwise he played in the rules.. the last hit on the qb he hit him in the shin and was blocked in to him by a uga player

This is one of the stupidest comments I’ve seen. The ultimate cheapshot on a QB in the pocket is hitting them low, especially when he rushing lineman takes 2 steps after the ball is released. That is why it is banned in the NFL. That play in the NFL would have resulted in a $100K fine, ejection and suspension. This is not the first game Farley took cheap shots at the opposing QB. His cheap ass should be suspended by the SEC.

Richt has not turned UGA into a third tier program….he had a couple recruiting classes that didn’t pan out over a three year period (2006-2008, only 60% made a contribution) which caused the program to slip. However, players such as Stafford and Moreno covered up those deficiencies. Time will tell if progress has been made, but the last two classes look good (Charles, Murray, Ogletree, etc.) GO DAWGS!

Mark Richt lost the team when they charged the endzone against UF in ‘07. He’s weak, and it shows.

And he can’t beat UF. He’s 2-8, including 1-4 against Ron Zook’s three teams (all five-loss seasons) and Urban Meyer’s worst team. That’s enough reason for him to move on in my book.

The only thing anyone other than morons can blame this coaching staff for is recruiting. Everyone claims we have a top ten recruiting class every year. Maybe so. But when the last four years that class is ranked 6th, 4th, 5th, and 4th in conference, it doesn’t much matter. I don’t know exactly what needs to be done. Auburn got one player at a key position and they are undefeated. It’s certainly not the coach who had a BAD losing record at Iowa State, it’s his players. Or in this case, player that makes him look good. How did they get him? I guess we’ll see. You can’t MAKE people come to UGA to play. We can’t move the university to central FL to have nice winter weather and be an hour from the beach. We COULD lower academic standards for admittance to the levels of Ole Miss, Miss St, AUBURN, Alabama and Florida. We also COULD not make such a big deal out of cheating on term papers. We COULD and should make much less fuss over scooter driving infractions. Other than that, I’m not sure what we would do to get better players.

There is one point reasonably good point about coaching stupidity by Fitten at least from the limited knowledge that I have, and that is that Ogletree made mental errors throughout the game. BAD ones. But I would disagree that it is due to coaching. It is due to inexperience. The coaching mistake that was made was to put him in there in the first place. How he took the place of someone with two more years experience is beyond me. Maybe he is better than Hamilton physically, but not mentally.

Anyone who thinks the coaches should be gone are morons who have no life to take pride in other than a game played by 20 year olds. If you would trade coaches with Auburn after the way his team represents his university and after they get all their wins taken away from them you are indeed a moron. Without that ONE player his team is 5-7 on the year and they are trying to ship him back to IA State where he had a BAD losing record. He’s no coach.

Get Muschamp?? Noticed the Texas defense lately? Get Smart? After we play Tech and AL plays Auburn, UGA will be ranked ahead of AL in total defense. The players on the UGA defense suck. AL has a team full of studs. GA has one. Yet you want Kirby to take over? Grantham (and Willie) has done more with less than either one of those guys. This is the first year Spurrier has ever had ANYTHING at Carolina. No one ever calls for him to go. We are lighting the scoreboard up and the idiots on here say we need to replace the guy who calls the plays.

The football coach is arguably the highest profile representative of the University that there is. Higher than Micale Von Adams even. This guy represents MY university the way I want it represented. I do not want it represented the way that Urban does UF or Saban does AL and I sure don’t want to be like Auburn. Those schools seem to do well spelling three letter words like “win” especially recently. But when you move up to 5 letter words like “Class” they have much more trouble in the spelling and no clue in the definition.

Texas fans aren’t calling for Mac Brown and Muschamp to be fired, Carolina fans never called for Spurrier to leave, heck the idiots over at the trade school aren’t even calling for CP Johnson to go and he is CLUELESS at this level. What does that make the UGA fans who constantly belittle this staff? It makes them morons.

The short answer is no. What crystalized the game for me was the onside kick to start the second half. Richt tried that years ago on someone and it worked beautifully. On Urban Meyer several years ago, he got burnt. Today he got burnt again — the players were caught totally by surprise and they were unprepared to deal with it. And don’t forgot how CMR was toasted by VT in the Sugar Bowl on the fake punt. Does he just refuse to think of the possibilities the opposing team has at their disposal to win? The man is simply not ready for what the game throws at him. Opposing coaches have figured this out. Everything Mark Richt does is scripted, and the script is getting dogeared. Some other observations from the game: Why is Rambo still starting? He is a liability and I can’t understand why coaches let him get penalized and abused in the secondary game after game. I thought Evans was bad, but this guy has taken it to a new level. And forget the gift int — my 10 year old could have snagged that one. Will the offense ever figure out how to run a simple screen pass? Aaron Murray is a warrior and I’m glad that thug Auburn player didn’t end up hurting him badly. The SEC needs to do something about that guy. None of the game will matter though — I think Auburn is playing this season at the roulette table — the outcome will happen during basketball season (of 2012.) The wild dawg thing with Branden Smith was a total joke — didn’t fool a soul. The UGA D is past broken and I have no idea what will fix it. Players constantly look confused and out of position. Same sometimes for the offense. More useless time outs today to avoid penalties. When will someone teach Caleb King to block? He wiffed several times today and had Aaron running for his life. The O line is the biggest disappointment this year. I’m glad McGarity gave Richt his stamp of approval. With AJ, Durham, Houston and all the others gone next year I don’t see any way this team improves. If CMR knew what to do, he’d have fixed it by now. Hope I’m wrong.

Saban lost to Auburn, late in the season, in 2007, in his 1st year putting in the 3-4, Georgia did too, and AUburn had Cam Newton. Auburn lost its’ last 4 games in a row in 2007. It’s tough in year one with the 3-4, but yes, it gets better fast, once you get the right players in.

Pay this group of coaches millions of dollars & you get a team that is 5-6. poor recruiting, poor coaching, poor execution & an overall sense of malaise! this program has been on its way down for three years & I do not believe it has reached the bottom.

UGH! has not beat a team with a winning record. They lost to a TERRIBLE Colorado team. They got BLOWN OUT by Mississippi St … freakin Mississippi State!! They lost to Florida (as usual) & gave up 34 points to them!! Florida scored 6 against Alabama, 7 against Mississippi St & as of this moment, have scord 7 against South Carolina (all of these games were in the swamp).

The UGH defense is TERRIBLE. can’t tackle, no pass rush, no coverage skills & the WORST defensive backs in the country! We have been dooped into paying grantham a huge sum of money for NO RESULTS!

The offensive play calling is hysterical at times. I counted three pass plays tonight where we sent two receivers down into the pattern & they went 40 plus yards down the sides of the field! No other options were available to Murray.

The Offensive line is just that … OFFENSIVE!!! They are terrible! How can these clowns be Juniors & Seniors and be so bad??

I was listening to the call in show has I drove back from Auful & the host (Jeff Danzler) kept saying how our recruiting has been middle of the pack the last 4 years & that “the Bulldogs will rise again.”
I thought both statements were comical. We have a coach who has been in place for 10 years. How could he have let the recruiting drop to middle of the pack?? Furthermore, when you have been somewhere for 10 years, & you have had some success, should you really be looking to “rise again.” After 10 years, one should already be risen!!

This is a poorly run program with too many off field distractions & not enough on field results!!

They lost to COLORADO!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!! What a joke!!!!

Before we play Tech, Richt needs to motivate his team by taking them to a double feature and then an all day swim. Throw in another of his famous gimmicks such as black jerseys and helmets, and we won;t lose another regular season game. Is the Bluebonnet or Oil Bowl still around? I don’t remember Erk using any of Richt’s motivational techniques. I guess Erk didn’t have the savvy of Richt. Bring David Greene in as OC. He audibled 20 times a game as needed. I don’t remember Bobo ever making a change at the line.

Hershel Talker, you are so right. These Richt apologists are pretty much idiots. I guess they like losing and being embarassed week after week. Grantham is an expensive joke. The program has been losing ground since Van Gorder left. After 10 years we should be reloading rather than rebuilding. Garner is not doing the job of recruiting. In fact, what coach is doing his job? We are being outcoached week after week. I wish we would be lucky enough for Richt to go to Colorado, but it won’t happen. It looks like we’ll be stuck with Richt another year based on what McGarity has said, but some changes will have to be made. The guys with the big donor bucks are not going to stand for mediocrity very long.

- Murray was not available to the media after the game. But no one appeared worried about his injury, which Richt called a blow to the knee. The coach said it was nothing “structural,” and that Murray wanted to go back in the game.

For those who are wondering. This was from Seth Emerson’s post game blog. With Murray I believe we will beat Tech. Of course, that will not keep them off of our blogs under other names.

First Georgia played very good and I want the coaches to be back
this game was the worst officiated game so far, Auburn is a dirty team, at least 3 personal fouls on Auburn’s # 90 haven’t been called and he should be ejected from the game .Chizik is very irritating, I hope they get F***ed up by Bama.
1- the kicker did touch the ball before travelling 10 yards
2- Cam indeed fumbled the ball on the goal line, it wasnt a touchdown
3- 3 personal fouls were never called
4-passing interference on Rambo and it wasn’t

:51 seconds and one time out… you are on fire, and Richt decides to play NOT TO LOSE rather than playing TO WIN… had you asked him while walking off the field to halftime, he would have said some crap about getting the ball at the start of the second half… but guess what? The other team’s coaches came TO WIN and hit the onside kick. I am personally growing very tired of his lack of gutsy play calling. It’s lazy and safe and I think it flows through to the players. Ever the hack writer pulling for Atlanta Vocational. This game was no indictment of anything. The 18 point final was no tale of the game, and you know it. Georgia was not outschemed or outcoached. We simply did not have an answer for Cam Newton. Who has? If you want to use this game as an indictment, then you should put every Defensive Coordinator he has faced, and every head coach as well, on the chopping block. You’re praising Chizik, who is a middling coach of a middling team without Newton. With Newton, he looks incredible. And then there’s that nagging little thought that it may all be for nothing, pending NCAA investigation. Not that I want that. I would feel terrible for Cam if his father’s actions cost him the notoriety his play deserves. However, I would feel no such sympathy for Chizik and his regime. If they are found guilty of any wrongdoing, they should get a career death penalty.

I’m not defending all of the coaching decisions throughout the game. The snap to Smith made no sense to me before the ball was off the grass. Not attempting to move the ball at the end of the half left me dumbfounded. I understand protecting your freshman quarterback from a horrible mistake, but you also prevent your team from snagging a lead and momentum going into the half.

Still, when you call out Grantham’s defense, you should also note that this defense held Newton to much lower-than-average production. We were weakest against McCaleb around the end…took some bad angles and such, but that’s not on the coaching. Also, twice our true freshman safety was beat for touchdowns. One TD was the game-clincher (Newton’s final dive was a stat-padder, and made no difference to the outcome), the other was the tying catch at the end of the 2nd half. Ogletree was out of position on the 1st, and frozen by play-action on the second. These are not scheme or coaching problems – they are a young player making mistakes to learn from.

And for the people who say “This year is worse than last year” I ask them to truly look at the football games, the way we played them, and say that objectively. But, they won’t. They won’t, because they are fans. Fans don’t look at things objectively. They are born of emotion, and exist in it. People will still call Mike Bobo a terrible offensive coordinator, though he is the first in UGA history to coach an offense to 30+ points in 6 straight games. They call Mark Richt a terrible head coach, even though he has three SEC East Titles and 2 SEC titles. They think Grantham isn’t an improvement over Martinez, which is simply assinine.

And what’s worse? You give them fuel, Bradley. You do, because when people read your articles, they think you speak with some form of authority. You don’t, though. You simply express your opinions, and they are no better than mine, or any other blogger’s. You report the Colorado connection like it’s an actual possibility. You call Richt a has-been, and you annoint a coach who is nothing without a phenomenal player. You are everything that is wrong with the media in college football.

With all of the lousy calls Auburn won this game outright. We had it to win and blew it again.
But for the record, Fairly took some of the cheapest shots I’ve seen all season. How that kid didn’t get booted from the game is beyond me.

Rumor is this:

The biggest story in College football this year is about to become the biggest story EVER in college football and as far as we are concerned will branch in two directions.
1. Major big name programs will be implicated in pay for play schemes and it appears the FBI has been watching this for a while. Rogers opened the door for them. it is about to get ugly. Very ugly.
Seems to be consensus that AU will not be implicated in this scheme.
2. Auburn is going to go on the offensive. The Newtons met with the NCAA today in Auburn and I believe we will get a statement out of them/ Auburn tomorrow. A real statement, you know with some facts. Auburn is at least considering to (and may have) gone on the offensive already by retaining one of the biggest plaintiff’s attorneys in the state of AL and the nation, who just so happens to be an AU grad.

If that is true, Newton and his dad are in the clear despite Mr. Anonymous claims otherwise. And if that all is true, Mississippi St is in serious trouble as is the drive-by media that descended on Auburn.

As to the game, I was impressed by Georgia. I’ve seen Newton all year, not surprised he did what he did. Not surprised Auburn can spot a team 14 points and come back before half and tie it up as they did that with either Clemson or USC. I was surprised that Oregon only scored 15 against Cal. Nobody is a superman all of the time. Auburn won. Fairley is a beast who’s out to be in the front of your mind if you’re a QB. The fights at the end were unfortunate but both teams were fired up and probably would’ve liked to play another quarter even if it didn’t count. Chop blocks are dangerous and dirty as well, don’t forget that. There were a lot of people who should not have been playing in that final minute and some UGA players that could’ve been tossed just as well as Auburn.

It’s over. Now we’ll beat GT and keep CMR but what’s next, no idea but I can’t say it’ll be better.

3 years ago, Mark Richt led the pre-season #1 team to 4 losses inclusing a 45 point defensive loss to Ga. Tech. That team had 6 NFL draft picks including 3 first round rounders. That concluded a 3 year run with Matt Stafford, Knowshawn etc., that won … absolutely nothing.

Then followed that up with 5 losses last year and a Shreveport bowl.

Then 6 losses this year.

Anyone see a pattern here?

Good thing you’re not a pro scout son. The Bama qb does have a shot at a pro career. You obviously haven’t seen the qb rankings for 2011. As for Scam Newton he is a helluva college qb but he aint going to be running the ball in the pros- its a whole different level there. The McElroy kid has a far better chance of succeeding in the pros than Scam because the bammer boy plays in a pro style offense. Scam plays in a run option spread offense- how many 300 yard games has he thrown for smart guy?

Last national championship, I watched as a true freshman nearly brought his team back to beat Alabama. What I never saw was an impressive performance by McElroy. He is not impressive. Where Cam goes in the draft I do not know, I believe Mallet will be #1.

But McElroy will probably try and go be a Rhodes Scholar and not even try the combine.

My belief is that Cam Newton’s Daddy, with Cam’s full knowledge, accepted money from somebody connected with Auburn…that the truth will come out…and, I hope, that Auburn’s awareness of it will bring the NCAA down on ‘the pretty little village on the plains’ with the worst possible penalty – and to borrow a phrase from that Rainey guy – Time to die, Auburn…as in the death penalty.

his dad allegedly said he asked for money for Cam from MSU without cam’s knowledge. This is really unbelievable that Cam didn’t know. And if he didn’t know then he would feel incredibly betrayed by a dad selling him out like a slave trader. Does Cam carry himself like someone who is distraught or upset upon learning that his own dad sold him out? Uh, no. The reason is because he knew full well that his dad was wheeling and dealing on his behalf.

The last time this happened was the famous Albert means case at bama where a booster paid the kids high school coach to steer him to Bama. Means regarded the coach as a father figure since he didn’t know his own father. Upon finding out what happened he became depressed, distraught, withdrew from Bama and went to Memphis and a year later was out of football completely. That is the human nature of how a young man would actually behave if he suddenly found out his father betrayed and tried to sell him without his knowledge. The reason Cam exhibits none of this behavior is because he was complicit. He knew what his dad was doing. End of story.

Actually, I think a Georgia fan posted something about pay for play is being investigated by the FBI and has been for a while but Auburn is not implicated. I think what clearly happened was, since Kiffin and Stoops also inferred that there was no request for money from the Newtons at UT and OU, that the Newton’s were offered money by boosters and walked. MSU was not in in on it and kept recruiting him right up until he signed with Auburn. Then the boosters made allegations that were unfounded. MSU failed to provide follow up when requested for seven months. Then MSU gave some info in July, Auburn reviewed it, SEC reviewed it, NCAA reviewed it, Cam Newton is still playing.

But you are free to make up any story you want based on no facts whatsoever, especially on an anonymous board. It hasn’t stopped Mark Bradley from doing it, why should it stop you?

Surfie…sorry but the NCAA would have sat CAM out after their meeting with him Thursday night if they had anything on him. He showed. He answered. Just like an earlier Bama blogger wrote…Means was ineligible at Bama and was bushwhacked from the team. But that didn’t make him ineligible at MEMPHIS where he went on to play. Same situation. Papa Newton solicited cash from MSU but not Auburn where Cam is playing. He would have been ineligible at MSU but IS eligible at AU. Just because you WANT AU to be guilty doesn’t mean they are. From all accounts, they are CLEAR. Just ask their compliance officer…the Number 2 guy they hired from the NCAA!

UGA showed its lack of class by the entire team gathering on the Auburn mid-field AU logo before the game for a rah rah session. Seems I ve seen that bad behavior by the boys in Tallahassee. When your 5-5 its not to cool. What’s wiht Richt allowing such behavior.

In what way would anyone be led to believe it’s going to get better? Todd Grantham the new guy has had absolutely totally 0 positive effect on the team he’s “choked” if you will.

It’s the 11th game of the year, if these kids were worth crap, they’d have shown it by now. Grantham is a titanic waste of money. That’s 750K, and he’s in over his head. By week 11 you shouldn’t have a set of safeties as God AWFUL as Georgia runs out on a weekly basis.

Rambo should change his name again. He’s worn that one out.

Also, anytime this offensive line wants to actually start you know having their QB’s back and either block a guy or keep him from hitting their QB late would be a good time.

Fairley should be in a hospital tonight working on two blown out knees. Georgia’s offensive line that is supposed to be pretty good…. gutless wonders.

It can’t be said any other way. They let their Quarterback get killed. They took no action to protect him. Completely totally gutless. Searles has done NOTHING to build even a remotely credible line and he’s received nothing but credit since he stepped on campus.

Richt has had 5 years now some years with great talent obviously the last couple with not much and he simply hasn’t done anything with it. There is no reason to believe he’s going to wake up tomorrow and get it back.

They have their opportunities every week against good teams and they simply aren’t good enough.

Letting their QB get demolished should be the last straw. They should have been rolling up Fairley’s knees on every play, not one guy took a shot.

There isn’t a single player on that line that Georgia is going to miss when they are gone.

We lost this in the second half. Unlike previous game we cam out humming in the first half and we came out flat in the secord half. How do you loose the kickoff and then take a punishing on a quirk snap. We lost all our momentum in two plays. This is on the coaches not the players. Time for a change.

By the way, did the coaches try and have him chop blocked?

Emotional game. Both sides. I’m fearful to see who gets ejected off our team if the rumors prove true the SEC is reviewing it.

Not sure why all the negativity at UGA. We were supposed to get blown out; isn’t that what everyone predicted? We played hard and put a scare into them. BTW, the onside kick was touched before 10 yards; big game changer. The last TD was also fumbled but wouldn’t have made a difference.

Defensive breakdowns by a player here and there which cost us dearly, but not the effort. We have to replace those players if they cannot learn. Commings replacement who has been demoted but had to play once the injury occurred got burned again.

Change our play calling and our timidity when we go into “playing not to lose” mode and we are right there with the best team in the SEC. BTW, AU better improve their D before taking this show on the road.

Football IS a dirty game. Emotions are high. Testerone tested to its limits. These are men being men at their rawest! Or boys…however you want to look at them. Fairley made some really hard hits…news…he’s 300 plus pounds. Not HE or any OTHER 300+ lb DB is going to hit the opponent like Tinkerbell. That’s why is is an All-Star. He makes plays. Coastal…I’m more confident about my Tigers after the near-loss of Oregon to Cal. And it was only a 15-13. They have to score more than that if they think they’re going to beat Auburn. Oregon is NOT a shoo-in for THE national title…not after tonight’s game. Auburn has as equal a chance. And if any of you WANT Oregon to beat Auburn…that’s just sad. SEC should mean more than your hate for AU. Of course, we can always give the Title to Pac-10. Have it your way.

While driving back from one of the most depressing endings to any game/season in UGA recent history, Jeff Dantzler kept spinning that all is o.k. if we beat Tech. Beating Tech means nothing – until we set our sights on beating Auburn, Florida, and South Carolina – we will never get out of the dregs of the SEC. We are SEC, and it isn’t Tech that is out-recruiting us!! It is South Carolina, Auburn, ALabama, Florida, etc. Richt must go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bottom line – Cam plays 4 quarters and he plays to win. His leadership has inspired ALL the AU players all season for all four quarters. Say and speculate what you will on this young man but he IS a leader and THAT is why AU is 11-0. Bought and paid? You cannot BUY this kind of talent. It is god-given.

oh come on surfie….don’t have sour grapes over the fact that Fairley dominated. It’s not NEWS that the boy is aggressive. He had ONE dirty hit. In the back for which he was penalized. As for the other hits? He did not have flags thrown which means it was completely within parameters of legal tackles. If your boy can’t take the hit, maybe he should go to the other field and play jump rope with the rest of the tender-heads. 300 pounds. All-Star. I don’t know of ANY other player this size on ANY team that waltzes in on their tippy toes and taps the QB with their fingertips!

Bama Dawg…the refs threw one flag for the bad hit in the back of Murray…all other plays were just rough. Pure and simple. If this were Bama and one of their DL’s, it would be a non-issue…just Alabama doing what they do – dominate. So here you go again…bring in Slive and the NCAA now to legislate tackling!!??? Surfie..I was impressed with Murray. As a freshman, he was heads above some veteran QB’s of other teams. But you have to admit…he was not Cam Newton today. NO one is like Cam Newton. Before all this media garbage, he was the most popular player in College Football. He still is but there’s alot of hate going around against the AU program and so haters are grasping at every air bubble they see to suffocate our wins. Anything to see AU fail and Oregon win? I can tell you this Surfie…your nephew is in a wholesome place at AU. Some will call it a “cow college” which is such a stupid playground tactic. Whatever goes on behind closed doors with those in the spotlight, college towns – wherever they may be – typically allow students to grow and educate themselves without the worry of outside influences of drugs and crime. Unless one graduates from Harvard, Yale, Johns Hopkins, etc…what does it matter if you graduate AU, UGA or SCAR. The paycheck at the end of the day pays the same!

Richt’s biggest problem is bush league Coordinators. He handed the reins to two guys who are average at best (Martinez and Bobo). The only wonder is why it took this team a couple of years to start looking as average as their Coordinators. Its not his fault Van Gorder left, but he has to bring in someone good enough to replace him. Not just hand the job to his buddy. Now Grantham has to clean up the mess. It took Saban’s D a year to get good at Alabama, maybe Grantham will make better strides next year.

Good point about the play calling from Bobo. Ive been saying it all year…he mixes things up just for the sake of it. He does not stick with what works, and it is killing this offense. If you have found something that the defense hasnt stopped, you run that until they do. You dont mix it up just because they know its coming. They know its coming, and cant stop it anyway…JUST RUN WHAT IS WORKING.

It took Bobo a whole quarter to decide to throw to his star receiver he just got back…AJ Green. That cost them as much in the Colorado game as the fumble by King. Would it even have come down to that had UGA not spotted Colorado 14 pts while Bobo was playing mind games with himself? The Arkansas game was another one on Bobo. Instead of continuing the aggressive passing game that got UGA tied, Bobo returned to the same gameplan that did not work in the first half. Why? Who knows. Arkansas ate it up again and UGA punted for the loss.

Give Grantham another year, but Bobo needs to be demoted back to QB coach.

Lets look at this factuallly first, as no one wants to take cheap shots at Coach Richt.

Fact:

Mark Richt is a good man.
Mark Richt lives his life by his own personal actions.
Mark Richt is a heck of an offensive coordinator.
Mark Richt is a great recruiter.
Mark Richt took over a program that was pretty good and got them over the hump to win a couple or three SEC titles.
Mark Richt’s initial hires were great choices, others have not panned out as well.

Opinion and my Opinion only:

Sometimes it takes a new paradigm to change up a business, or enterprise to regenerate some momemtum.
Sometimes it takes a new person to lead the charges to get out of a funk and put a new spin on things.
Does Mark Richt need to move on? Who am I to say one way or another, I am just a football fan who works around certain games during the course of a football season. Mark Richt has seen his share, and some other teams share of disciplinary issues during his tenure, does that alone make him a candidate to be replaced? Nah, I do not think so. Coach Richt made some staff changes because he felt it was best for his teams success. That is what flexible coaches do. Mark Richt has a good nucleus of players, not a great nucleus of players and the record reflects that. But the thing to remember is Good Programs with strong talent will see good players leave early to go to the NFL and UGA has seen that happen pretty often during Coach Richts tenure. Is that an excuse for a couple or three mediocre seasons? No, but it does answer a few questions as to some depth issues. Keep this in mind, Alabama, Florida, Kentucky, and Georgia were the only teams coming into the season who had made 4 consecutive bowl games in a row. That is where UGA stands, a fifth with a win over Georgia Tech.

Does Mark Richt need to leave? Who knows, but when Colorado feigns interest in your head coach it does mean something. Who would UGA bring in if Coach Richt leaves? Well there is alot of great young coaches but will they meet the expectations of the UGA faithful…

Currently there are some darn good coaches in the SEC and their records prove it, and Coach Mark Richt for the better part of 10 years has been one of those coaches. Is he still a good coach? Has this become a job instead of a passion for Coach Richt? In this league you need passion and drive to be at the top of league year in and year out.

Not a Georgia Fan here, but from a Kentucky’s fan point of view, Auburn used today to make a statement. The statement was no matter what happens Auburn was going to keep playing with the date they brought to the dance. At some point the bill is going to come due for the date and if Auburns credit is overdue( which is pretty likely) a full payment will be expected( for those dumb readers….the time you played a guy whom just Friday afternoon was labeled ” has eligiblity issues” by the NCAA) But in most cases we all would have stayed course and played that player and lived with the sanctions that are likely to occur long after the seson is over as well.

To the situation with the late hits, helmet leading hits and outright dirty play, it seems like for 30 minutes in Auburns next game they will be without the services of two players as well as letters and communications will be made to the Auburn staff from the SEC office implying the words, warning and expulsion if acts continue….Fairley is just one of many across the SEC that it will addressed to.

Congratulations to Auburn….you earned it, but lets see how big that wallet is and how much of the mortgage was taken out to get that one year of success, bankruptcy is in your future and the folks in the press box realize it as well as many in the SEC.

I thought the same thing when they did the wildcat thing with Smith. You’re going to put a play in that Auburn sees everyday in practice? Totally killed UGA’s momentum. That play, along with getting outsmarted on the onside kick and then Boykin taking 2 seconds to decide if he’s going to run a deep ball in the end zone out to only the 7 yard line, were the killers.

There’s so much wrong with this team, but for a while, they certainly had Auburn on their heels. Dark days for UGA.

If I were President of UGA, I would tell the Athletic Director and the UGA lawyers to write up the next contract for the HC and assistant coaches that deducts a wad of their salary for each game that is as bad as the ones we have watched this year. No Defensive Coordinator, Offensive Coordinator, or Head Coach should be paid the amount they are getting paid for sub-par performances. Their salaries should be directly tied to the number of games won. If the coaches had any self-respect at all they would voluntarily return 5/6 of their salaries this year.

McGarrity, was he a big mistake? He seems to be 100% behind Richt no matter how poorly we play. Of course nobody expects him to bash Richt either but I am a little disappointed in some of the things he’s said lately. It seems he should at least be lukewarm on Richt. Richt will be back and UGA will continue to be soft and unfocused. Thanks McGarrity.

Richt is soft and has been for years. Surrounds himself with inferior coaches and he lacks the guts to make tough decisions and changes when necessary. This is nothing new and the state of this program will remain the same unless changes are made. Just a nice dumb guy. Took him 9 years to figure out he should spend some time actively recruiting instate.

And worst of all is that McGarity seems like he’s cut of of the same mold.

I thought the dogs made an exciting gane of it against a clearly better team. Cam Newton is incredible, Coach Richt should send the game film to the SEC. Hard to believe what those officials let Auburn get away with.

Auburn is the dirtiest football I’ve seen this year. Farley was out to hurt Aaron Murray and put him out of the game. If this was an NFL game Farley would have been flagged, fined, ejected and suspended. That was a pitiful job done by the sec officials. Until now I would have pulled for AU to beat Alabama and USC and win the national championship. Now I hope they lose to both Alabama and USC and don’t make it to the nat champ game. You can bet that the league will be getting a dvd from CMR of the hits that Murray took by Farley that were not call.

Don’t put so much blame on the defensive coordinator or the players. Every team Auburn has played this year has had the same problem. It’s virtually impossible to stop a “FREAK OF NATURE”. Teams had same problem with Herschel and Bo and Emmitt. You need 12 or 13 players on defense to stop Auburn, it seems.

The good news is that Auburn will end up having to forfiet the Georgia game for using an ineligible player. Count on it, The ncaa moves slowly but will eventually get around to the conclusion that Cam knew his father was shopping him around for cash. Auburn’s dream season will be a nightmare.

It is funny that a certain columnist for this paper wrote just a few weeks ago that ga was the hottest team in the East because they had beaten Kentucky and Vandy. Wonder if he thinks they are the hottest team now? This describes ga exactly, they beat the Vandy’s and the Lousiana-Monroe’s and claim to be an elite team, then play someone that actually counts and get beat down. That is ga football, long on excuses, short on results. The few wins they do get is because they play a cowards schedule, which is how your cowardly hero vince dooley won most of his games, he was scared to play a real schedule. The only NC he won was false, he ducked the number 2 team and played the number 10 team instead, like the coward he is

Richt should go to Colorado. Best for everyone concerned: Richt, Bozo, McGarity, Adams, and, last but not least, the UGA fan base and donors. Colorado will offer less, but will demand a hell of a lot less. Just the kind of laid-back place Richt needs. With Richt already being paid $25 million, he should be financially secure. However there is one down side: McGarity and Adams have to get off their collective a$$e$ and find somebody that can stare down Saban and Meyer on a regular basis. If they don’t, then the situation will be no better. Remember, with the exception of Richt, you generally get what you pay for. One last thing: no more ten year contracts.

Coach Richt has nothing to prove to you or anyone. His record speaks for itself.. (you have to look at a record in totallity) and already other schools are expressing interest (see Colorado) simply because of crap like this being written in his own state. By the way, has Meyer forgotton how to coach as well. You dweebs with your poision pens make me sick and its sad you have a forum like this to fuel the lunatic fringe.

As for the game congrats to Auburn. I thought however the dawgs played CLEAN, with heart, and left it all on the field. In loss I am still proud to be a Georgia Bulldog. I believe Coach Richt has proven he is one of the best coaches in College Football and as important, one of the best men in College coaching.

Hey Georgia fans the biggest problem you faced yesterday was the fact you played the dirtiest cheating football team in the history of the game. You can’t win when you have to play not only the other team but the referees as well, you never had a chance. Your coach should have sent in a guy who will never start for your team let alone make it to the NFL and let him put a cheap shot to the legs of #90 or a head shot to Newton when he was on the ground. In other words level the playing field. But Richt is not that kind of guy so like I said you stood no chance. Secondly the SEC and it’s gutless, spineless joke of a commissioner should suspend the officiating crew and 1/2 of the auburn team for cheap shots.

But on the bright side at least you don’t have Assdassio for an offensive coordinator.

Richt gave up in the Florida game with 50 seconds left in regulation; he did it again against Auburn with 50 seconds left in the first half. Both moves led to defeats. Mark Richt is a good man who should go to Colorado. He has lost Georgia’s respect and faith.

Take heart Dawg fans. At least your guys show up and try. I was impressed with their effort against a much better team. Nobody is going to stop Cam Newton anyway. Not this year. Dawgs gave it all they had to the bitter end. I respect that. They will run over Tech, that is for sure. Tech players have no heart at all. Good try Dawgs. I have been a Tech man since I was a kid and I have often said that an important diffence between Tech and UGA football is that Tech usually does not play as good as they are and UGA often plays better than they are. True.

going into this game it was apparent that Georgia had to play a perfect game ,, keep their drives going, score touchdowns and keep Auburn off the field on offense.

Auburn’s time of possession was 34:15 and they ran 73 plays to 52.. That’s whey the D gets tired and looks “weary”..

I just now read your article in the print edition. I know your job is to sell papers, stir the pot, etc., but I disagree with your ultimate conclusion that Richt’s best days are behind him. I do agree with several of your comments about certain aspects of all of the coaching, however.

Most notably, thank you for restating Justin Houston’s comments after the game. Twice this year, most recently after the UF game, Houston called out his teammates on defense by saying they did not play a full 60 minutes, etc., essentially saying some guys tooks plays off. Last night he really called them out as stated above. And he’s right. Defense in the front 7 is assignment football. The reverses worked because guys on the edge did not stay home and contain. Auburn did not not do anything fancy, and not just Newton but all their running backs had good games. UF, S. Carolina and MSU ran all over us, too. Lack of focus on D falls on Grantham. We don’t have the space eaters up front that we need for a 3-4 just yet, but even if we were in a 4-3 (which we really are most of the time because Houston lines up as a rush end) without focus and intensity on every play no D can play well. Defense is the reason LSU only has 1 loss and we have just as much team speed on D as they do. And Rambo needs to be moved to SS because all he wants to is hit people and not read the QB’s eyes.

On offense, I agree some of Bobo’s play calling is ridiculous. Against UF he has a QB with 1st qtr jitters, but does nothing to establish the run, wear down UF’s D, and set up play action to make the game slow down for his QB and make the pass more effective. Last night, when Auburn was clearly showing blitz in the 4th qtr, Murray had no hot reads he good go to. He had Murray taking 5 step drops to look for AJ (split out wide) down the field. Murray would have endured a little less punishment had Bobo adjusted and lined a WR tight in the slot so Murray could have unloaded on a quick slant or something in 2 seconds – but he couldn’t since all his options were still running routes downfield or staying in to pass block.

Bobo needs to return to just QB coach, or just go. I recall going to 3 SEC title games with Richt calling his own plays.

I give Richt credit because one thing we had to do this year was eliminate turnovers and penalties. We have improved. None of the turnovers this year were because of bad decision making. The killers were Ealey’s lack of ball security (which he fixed) and Murray’s panicky first half against UF (for which Bobo made no adjustments). The offense has played with great intensity this year and overall Richt made a good call by naming Murray # 1 QB very early, taking the red shirt off Mason, benching guys who don’t pass block, and realizing he had to get the ball to his best player (#8) to win. The penalties (except when the game is out of reach and kids get stupid) are definitely down. And he did a difficult thing by firing his old college roommate, Martinez. In the real world, how many of us could do that?

But to your ultimate point, I see no reason why a Mark Richt team cannot return to the Dome again. We just need to recruit on D. He is a class act (taking the knee to keep anyone else from getting ejected or hurt is an example). He isn’t a weasel like Meyer, Chizek or Petrino. I don’t know how you can control the poor decision making of young adults without watching them 24/7.

Keep Richt. But take the game plan from Bobo, keep Ga players in Ga, and beef up the talent on D so the guys who think they can get by on talent alone can get benched until they are willing to leave it all on the field. Thanks, Houston, for trying to tell us all year what one major flaw on this team is.

And ask yourself – if Richt should go, then who is the replacement? Huh? Any answers?

Dooley didn’t win a NC until his 17th season. Spurrier didn’t win an Eastern Division crown at S.Carolina until last night. Chizek’s ultimate record this year will be 0-12 in the books no matter what prize they take this year.

Friday you wrote Auburn should bench Newton to protect their rep. What rep.? The one established by Pat Dye?

And Jim Donnan had far less control over his players.

Even if Cam is taking the old payola, the loss for the Despised Dawgs will not revert to a W. It will be as if the game was never played-which is about the way it was for the Defenseless Dawgs. I hope that you keep Mark Ritch-that way the Hated Dawgs will NEVER NEVER NEVER beat the Gators. The best Christmas gift every year is watching the Dawggs get their asses handed to them by the Chompers. This game has about all the rivalry to it that tennessee and Vandy. Ga will win about every decade or so. And you fools still go to Jacksonville every year just a hoping. For long time Dawg haters like me, there is no better comedy ever made.

I found that the funniest thing all year. The King of stirring stuff up, and doing a hit and run, and can not take it when he HAS to stay on the blog for more than two minutes after posting it. But that is how you are as well with this one isn’t it? I, for the life of me, have no idea as to why you guys have such a heartache with UGA and its program but man it flows from each or your blogs everyday. No shame in playing well and losing to the #2 ranked them in the country….but a lot of shame in getting soundly whipped and playing horribly once again on offense….to the South Carolina Gamecocks. Seriously….how did the Georgia Bulldogs lose to the Florida Gators this year. The Gators are a horrible team that has a lot of talent….and I have never said that about a Gator team before….but the Gators last night played way beyond horrible on both sides of the ball. And John Brandley is the biggest wimp QB I have ever seen play the position in college. No leadership skills. No backbone. He plays scared. And Steve Addazio has to be the worst offensive coordinator and offensive line coach in the country….bar none. Bobo is outstanding compared to the man. The Gators have excellent OL talent and….under Addazio….has the worst OL to ever play at Florida. And the worst offense to ever play at Florida. What else can be said. Richt may need a change of senery…but Addazio HAS TO GO at Florida (at least as OL and OC coach….but he can stay as head recruiter if he wants).

I didn’t see the game…..but Cam Newton is better than Tim Tebow ever was. He was never this good at Florida…but he really grew up at JC and is now thriving under Mitch Mustain at Auburn.

Also….the DL at Auburn has been a dirty player all year…but he is no more dirty than your RAMBO….who is constantly trying to hurt people instead of playing sound football.

Ealey is a good back, but he is no Lattimore. Lattimore is alot quicker hitting the hole and has a burst of speed that Ealey doesn’t. Look at UGA’s long runs for TD’s. Not many. UGA needs more break away speed at TB. Don’t get me wrong, Ealey is good and so is King, but they are not franchise type backs that UGA needs.
