Without Joshua Nesbitt, is Tech’s season over? Nah, I say

Joshua Nesbitt: A tough break, literally and figuratively. (AP photo)

A tough break, literally and figuratively. (AP photo)

Watching from afar, my first two thoughts were:

1. Without Joshua Nesbitt, Georgia Tech won’t win again.

2. Mark Richt’s job is now safe for this year. (Weird how I made that leap.)

But then, after 30 seconds’ reflection, I’ve changed my mind. I don’t think Tech will lose its final three games, and I wouldn’t be surprised if the Jackets and Tevin Washington — and Paul Johnson — don’t give us a finish to this regular season. Because Paul Johnson can really coach.

We saw it again last night. With his team a two-touchdown underdog on a rainy night in Blacksburg, Johnson saw to it that his men got the required fast start and kept them playing after the one indispensable Jacket had been lost to a broken arm before halftime. When inevitably Virginia Tech pulled ahead, Tech and Washington managed to re-tie matters.

When the Hokies ran back the subsequent kickoff for a touchdown, darned if the visitors didn’t muster up another drive. And had they scored another touchdown, I’d convinced myself PJ wasn’t going to mess around with overtime. He was going to go for two and steal the thing in regulation.

No, Johnson’s team didn’t win. But it gave a winning effort both with and without its MVP. It stacked 426 yards on Bud Foster’s defense, which is saying something.

And now I’m thinking Tech will, even without the great Nesbitt, contrive to win at least once more and render itself bowl-eligible. I’m also thinking Georgia shouldn’t be overconfident.

The great Nesbitt’s completion percentage was below 40 percent going into last night’s game; I just wanted to make that known.

I like Josh and he is certainly a leader on the team, but the season’s not doomed for the Jackets. And I’m a Dawgs fan, though I distance myself from most of them because 82 percent of the ones who seem to read these blogs sound about as intelligent as my three year old nephew,

I hate to see Joshua go out like that; the team played well and showed some guts. The defense finally ran out of gas; way too many snaps by VT on offense in the second half. This should be interesting; we will now get a glimpse at the new GT offense for next year and this will give Tevin and gang well needed reps…

As sad as I am to lose Nesbitt, I’m excited to see Tevin break in. Now we’re officially in rebuilding mode. Young offensive line, new defense, new QB. The good news is that Tevin can sling that rock, and that the WRs seem to be able to catch that ball.

Hanging tough with VT isn’t a bad start. GO TECH.

That game was rough last night… Paul Johnson is an unbelievably great coach, based on our performance, but you have to think that game could have gone our way if we had gotten some breaks. Our kicking game, like CPJ said, is absolutely horrific. But Nesbitt breaking his arm, that’s tough for us. Not only is it hard to win without him, but he’s the most exciting player to watch. I guess now I’m just crossing my fingers that we go to the Sun Bowl so me and my friends can go party in some sweet Mexican border towns.

I am a Dawg fan…but I hated to see Josh Nesbitt go out like that. He is a great player and competitor and you hate to see a young man having a good season have that kind of injury. I was looking forward to watching him compete in Athens. The 2nd string QB moved them down the field very well. And the interception was not a bad pass, just a great play by the Vtech CB. Their season is far from over. Now this guy gets the reps and that will help them even more for next season.

Last night’s tradgic season ending injury of Nesbitt wasn’t complete bad news. I think Tevin Washington did a supurb job once he got comfortable on the field. For the first two series he was out there I felt that game was probably over, even with a 7 point lead. Then our defense showed up, which is proof that if we give this defense time to be carefully installed it will produce. Last night was the first time our team had shown emotion, the first time this season we had the attitude it requires to be what us Georgia Tech fans have come to expect. Anthony Allen was busting for yards play after play, because he knew it was his time to take over as the offensive leader and to help out Washington. (why PJ didn’t keep Allen in for the attempted 4th down conversion, I’ll never know) We also got to see a glimpse of what Tech football future is going to be like without the only option quarterback we’ve known since this system has been installed, and to be honest, I’m encouraged. Tevin was putting passes right where they needed to be and getting yards on the ground when he knew we had to have them. He showed that he has the ability and the heart to take things into his own hands and make plays happen. I’ve loved seeing Nesbitt, our warrior, orchestrate our complex offense for the past three years. But I don’t think the fun stops here. I believe Washington is about to show us that this success can and will carry on. Coach Paul Johnson is no fool, he will demand production out of this offense and has the resume to prove that. We’re peaking into a new era my friends, and it doesn’t feel quite as bad the day after as it did watching number 9 laid out on the field.

His completion % had nothing to do with throwing and everything to do with drops. Those of us who watch games instead of espn stats know that.

Coach Johnson had better be able to coach because Tech has no speed, no strength, no size on either side of the ball. Nesbit was their ONLY playmaker on the offensive side. We’ll see if you can just plug omponents into Coach Johnson’s scheme and be successful. I get the feeling that he thinks that no matter who is running it that it is going to be successful.

I was real proud of Tevin and the defense. They played tough and Tevin showed a pretty nice touch with his passes. I hope, however, that if Chris Jackson has recovered that he is moved back to wide receiver. He might just be the one that makes the passing game click, when needed.

A very tough loss.

GT was O-W-N-I-N-G VT until Nesbitt was injured.

So many stupid mistakes:
1. Blair KO out-of-bounds
2. Sweeting trying to run the INT out from deep in the endzone.
3. So many false starts of offense.
4. Blair with the wretched KO that ended with VT TD.

However………………………………………………

The BIGGEST MISTAKE was CPJ’s arrogant decision to
throw on 3rd & 6 from VT 6 yard line in late 2nd Qtr.

The GAME…The ACC title shot…Nesbitt…and perhaps The Season…

…were all lost on that ONE SINGLE play.

Arrogance can be a great quality in a coach,
right up to the moment it becomes…self-defeating.

I hate it that Nesbitt is out for his last three games at GT but Tevin did look pretty good after the initial (probably a nerves thing) couple of series. He definitely looks more accurate than Nesbitt. You’re right MB, against Foster “D”, Tevin and Co. did march up and down the field not once but twice. That’s saying a lot about CPJ and Tevin’s characters. I think will see our guys play harder the rest of the way too. The guys seemed to rally around Tevin. We have UM, Duke and UGA left. All are very winnable games. Go JACKETS!!!!

Perhaps next spring Tech will work on passing quite a bit more. No matter who is the QB, either the routes aren’t crisp, they don’t fight for the ball or the pass is a wounded duck. They are awful throwing the ball.

My heart was broken as is Joshua’s arm, but that is why I follow college football. Joshua was the heart of this team, but I could see the sparkle in the eye of Tevin Washington and as I told my son last night, there is always hope. This is the next big test for Paul Johnson’s offense: plugging in a new QB (who he recruited) to carry on. True, Shaw filled in two years ago and did well, but this is for at least three games–three difficult games–with bowl games on the line. Either way, we’re going to miss Nesbit’s toughness. Now, if the receivers will just find their hands….

That game was really a heart-breaker – took me over an hour to get to sleep. We had the Hokies in our crosshairs, but they were able to finally beat us…with our backup QB, a backup O lineman and backup receiver. I live in Virginia, so I can honestly say they are too dumb to realize how close it was.

The good news is Tevin Washington. I have been worried for weeks about what was going to happen after Joshua Nesbitt graduates…now I know! If Tevin can watch some Nesbitt film and some from last night so that he knows not to freeze after the snap, he will do fine. After a slow start in the third, he really ramped it up. We could very likely win out the rest of the season.

As for Richt and the Dawgs – I wish them every success as long as they are not playing GT.

Well it seems I had higher expectations for the Jackets then most as I thought the season was pretty much lost before this game. I do think they are capable of winning out, though I’m not predicting it, but I wanted more then that. Why does their special teams have to stink so bad? Why do they come out flat in so many games? Why does their defense usually have to stink so bad?

Perhaps there is a silver lining…Maybe these next 3 starts for Washington will prepare him for next season and set the ground work for a really special season.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see him back sooner than people expect. I am just trying to figure out the logic of the AJC writers. UGA loses a close game to Florida and that is evidence that Mark Richt can’t coach. GA Tech loses a close game to VA Tech and that is evidence that Paul Johnson is a great coach. Just because VA Tech was favored doesn’t mean anything. After all, they have consistently peed their pants in games that they were the better team (remember James Madison?). Does a great coach give the opposing team the ball at the 50 when to that point his team is winning and had been playing good on defense when VA Tech had a long field? Does a great coach give up a chance for 3 points to try and throw the ball before halftime when he has seen no evidence that is a good play for his QB? It’s obvious that Mark and Jeff have a problem with Mark Richt, but some objectivity would be nice.

But let’s be honest. I HATE Tech, almost as much as Tech obsesses over hating me. So I am not the least bit saddened by this from a FOOTBALL perspective.

It’s just the way it is.

Like ti was said earlier this blog, the ONLY bad thing in my eyes from Nesbitt hurting his throwning arm (oxy moron, i know), will be the year of excuses the bugs will have justifying their loss in Ahens.

I’m actually feeling more positive about the season now than before last night.

That’s the best our defense has looked all year; VT’s backs were essentially held in check, and, once they figured out how to do ti, the air really came out of Taylor’s passing game. VT rolled up yardage, but it was not as bad as feared.

Looked like CPJ kept the kid gloves on Washington in the 3rd, but on those last two drives, he let him try to win it – how could anyone watch that last TD drive, and be disappointed? Washington’s pitches looked good; we’re not doomed – maybe the wideouts will actually catch his passes.

Miami’s a mess, so we have a shot there. Duke is Duke. Those guys at the end, who’re going to come in 5-6 – just like always, who knows?

All is right in Tech’s world now. They have a great excuse for sucking the rest of the way and can return to bragging about how close they came to beating teams. And they can, once again, start taunting Georgia for losing to other teams–even though they can’t beat them. Yep. Just about perfect. And by the way–Colorado? Yes. That was pathetic. But Arkansas, Mississippi State, South Carolina and Florida are all good teams that Tech couldn’t stay on the field with.
What puzzles me is why a broken throwing arm will keep Nesbitt from playing. That shouldn’t effect his game at all.

Thanks for the loss Coach Johnson. Defense playing well, hurt starting QB, and you decide to go for it on 4th down at midfield. They score to tie the game and have full momentum, rather than punting and pinning them deep. Should have played field position at that point and possibly looked for a field goal making it a 2 possession game. But you let your arrogance get the best of you. This loss is yours, not the kids.

Tevin has more touch on his passes. They seem to lay up in the air more than Nesbitt. That would be a bad thing in the NFL or in a Pro Style offense, but should be GREAT for our receivers since most of the time they are wide open.

I actually heard some talk this morning on SportsTalk radio this morning about Nesbitt’s NFL prospects. I can answer that in one word: None.

He’s an below average QB and he’s not fast enough to play any other position. At a 40 yard dash time of 4.6 or so, he has no place in the NFL. Sorry Joshua. He’ll be like the other 2000 FBS Seniors who will have to find gainful employment in something other than athletics.

Put me in the corner that says CPJ lost this game too. I can’t really fault him much for going for it at midfield, if the back had run behind center instead of tackle, we’d have gained five yards; Bedford is a beast and that hole was huge. But we lost that game and Nesbitt on the 3rd down pass that should have been a dive or corner option play and a FG if we didn’t punch it in. I was extremely surprised when that play started to develop and even more so when Nesbitt went down. If we got them 17 – 7, I think we would have won.
Also, quite a bit of home cooking on that last drive regarding the clock, it should have never been started after the incompletion and subsequent false start penalty. CPJ could have used our time outs better on that drive as well.
Still a valiant effort by our Jackets and we will beat Miami, Duke, and the Toiletdrinkers with Washington at the helm; he’s been impressive every game he’s been in this season and will only get better the next three weeks.

What is it about Bud Foster? Tired of hearing about Bud Foster…Al Groh out coached Foster. it is the same about the SEC this and that. Foster’s defense is bad. I support CPJ in going for it on forth down at midfield before the tying drive but I don’t support the play he called. Tevin had been struggling with the hand off timing (particularly pulling the ball back from the dive) so Ga Tech went straight to the dive for one and half possessions. Va Tech was thinking that’s all he could do at that point and that’s exactly what Ga Tech did do and wasn’t even close. They should have gone outside or even run the reverse anything but the same consecutive play as the last 7.

Would anyone on Tech’s D start for either UM or us??? NO Way! Offensively Allen and maybe Nesbitt would play for UM and UGA but nobody else. Just shows what a good coach can do. Most of you techies just dont understand football. VT was running up and down the field on your defense just like you were doing to theirs. TTaylor threw a gift INT in the endzone and they gave you a dropped punt etc. The game ended about as expected with or without Nesbitt who by the way is an absolute terrible passing qb. Tough as nails runner, but thats it. Maybe your Tevin Washington is a better passer actually and a little faster, just not as tough.
Paul Johnson, “great coach”? why do we keep hearing that? 4 losses now, starring at at least one more with a senior qb and experienced offense in 3rd season in a weak conference? Not seeing it. So if Richt beats Johnson again who would be the “great” coach?

Judging by some of the grammar displayed by the Techies in this blog I think most of these “I’m your boss” Tech people are really just nerds living in their parents basement spouting off in their free time from playing World of Warcraft.

Tech showed a lot of heart last night…maybe Groh’s D is starting to ‘get it.’ Here’s a thought…if Aaron Murray gets injured against Auburn, Tech and UGA will both be playing inexperienced QB’s when they meet in Athens…the game will probably end 3-0 in the 1st overtime period!

Trade School Fools – Obviously you must care about Tech to be on it’s blog, or maybe you didn’t have any lawns to mow with the rain and all today.
The rest of this blog goes to those who are more intelligent than the ground they stand on: Tech played its’ best game last night. I gave them the same odds to win as I did Nesbitt completing a pass to one of his teammates. I hate that Nesbitt got injured, but I was very impressed with tevin’s performance as well as the defense. This offense can be very dangerous if we have a legitimate passing attack. Lose the stupid penalties, play some special teams, and I see us winning out.

Looking forward to Nov. 27th. Dawgs have to back up all their hot air in order to become bowl eligible. While a 7-5 Tech may be headed to Shreveport, Dawgs at 5-7 aren’t going anywhere (except maybe back to Athens-Clarke County lockup). Maybe you should change your nickname, now that UGA VIII on the sidelines. You’d rather be the brachycephalic ball washers than the lesser of the Bulldogs in the SEC, wouldn’t you? Let’s see if there’s any bite left at all after Cam Newton leaves cleat marks all over Rambo and the other poodles you’ll try to spy him with. What’s the line on that game? Auburn by 24? At least you’ll have an off week to get the clumps of grass out of your facemasks…

Comparing losing Nesbitt to injury on the field and losing AJ Green to suspension for selling a jersey to an agent for some quick cash is like comparing Tom Brady breaking his leg and being out a season to Roethlisberger’s suspension for extracurricular activity in Milledgeville. Brady is much more important to the Pats than Ben is to the Steelers, both in terms of production and in terms of providing leadership and character. Nesbitt means much more to Tech’s offense than AJ does to the Dawgs’ in terms of production alone. And in terms of character and leadership, there’s not even a comparison. How could you even think to compare a guy like Joshua Nesbitt to a kid like Green who cares so little about his team that he would rather have a thousand bucks than a reminder of his college playing days in Athens? Are you really going to defend that comparison? How about when the season is over and AJ jumps off the burning ship for the NFL?

All that being said, we’re still going to beat you this year. I’ve ordered a couple hundred pairs of red panties and I’ll be distributing them to the most obnoxious tailgaters I see. A lucky few will also receive a “Get Out of Jail Free” Monopoly card that can be redeemed by the bearer on behalf of any UGA football player they choose. If the past year is any indication, you’ll have lots of opportunities to use it. Limit One per Player per Season.

Oh, and in case you forgot, Nesbitt scored no points in 2008 and I seem to recall us doing just fine.

You dance with the woman that bung you, as they say. The offense for 3 years has been tailored to Nesbitt’s strengths and weaknesses, as have been the game plans.

Now, with what I saw last night, defensive coordinators have a lot more to think about – an accurate passer.

All due respect to Joshua… and knowing there will be growing pains with Tevin… but I am VERY excited about the next three games!

I see no dropoff in the rushing offense… in fact, it may be even better, as CPJ, knowing Tevin’s game, will start game planning a bit differently. Game plans with Nesbitt were a snap; just run the ball until they force us to throw it.

Now? I see us mixing it up a bit more, which will make the running game a lot more explosive~!!

Personally, I can’t wait for the Miami game….!!

I think it is not desperation that lead Tech to go for it on 4th, it is the absolute mind set that we are not going to do anything predictable. I actually saw some defense played last night. There is something about a Tech team coached by Johnson. They come into a very hostile environment, were not intimidated, lose their quarterback and never ask for nor give quarter. I literally would rather watch a team of character like this lose than a lot of better teams win and with that kind of character they won’t lose too many.

I was impress with Washington after he got over his stage fright. He definitely is an accurate passer as every throw was on the money (even when the receivers dropped it or failed to block out the defense in the final interception). The game was going nowhere until the passing began, and just like that the offense began to click and defense couldn’t put 9 men on the line. Whether they win any more this year, next year has more potential than this year ever did. Nesbitt can’t pass, and the offense played horribly against any good team they played. Now if macho Johnson stops giving the game away by going on 4th down at the 50 yard line, this team shows some new dimensions. Will Johnson ever understand you have to pass, no matter what offense you run?

HOpe Nesbitt recovers and gets a shot at the CFL, Europe or NFl at a position. In less than three years he leads ACC in rushing and put up some passing #’s. That said I like what I saw in Washington overall. A fluidity in running the offense and touch in the passing game. Experience will come. Tech has a few qb’s it can win with or at least be competitive, be in the game. These 4 losses most have been close.

PJ Kool aid-You are so right. The Washington kid is a decent runner but that offense has got to go. When it works it’s great, but when it doesn’t, it’s UNBEARABLE! I was proud of the way Tech came back after Nesbitt went down. It’s funny that when some other teams lose they want to banish their QB to the bench even when he throws for over 300 yds and go on and on about what shoulda, coulda, woulda happened if this that etc. happened. Tech though just goes out and plays with what they have and the next guy in line takes over and does his job. I can’t believe that coach Johnson would dare scream GD on T.V. No Tech coach would scream go dogs.
Nesbitt is a man among boys and will really be missed. His passing is always mentioned but this years receivers ( especially Hill- even last night) can’t catch.
The new QB looked o.k. after a few series but he won’t be near the runner as Nesbitt and will probably get nicked up just running the offense with out having to carry the ball very much. With the new kid running the ball most of the carries will go to be backs. He does seem better at passing though. Now Johnson will have the ability to offer more of a passing attack. The defense actually manned up last night. They played good enough to win. I didn’t think they had it in the physically. I thought they were just soft. Maybe they are just young. Its hard to keep up with who is going in an out all the time.
I find it interesting that some of the itty bitty dog fans have the nerve to even show up on the blog. They are not too bright. Last I looked they got beat again by Florida. I don’t think they are still in the race for the SEC( Sometimes Everyone Cheats ) Championship are they? Do you have to win any games to win their Championship? Its hard to believe another high profile SEC football player is being accused of accepting hundred of thousand of dollars to play foozball.
I hope the Georgia coach never leaves. He is a very nice person.
The game against Georgia this year is the same as it is every year. Our winning depends on how many Georgia players are in jail that weekend. We will just have to see. Hopefully they will have enough players to field a team.
It Johnson had the same players as Richt has…Tech would win the National Championship every year.

I find it hard to believe that Georgia Fans dare come on this blog. Have they not looked at their record? Don’t they know they lost to Florida AGAIN. Their league is smeared with another scandal. Great league guys.

If Johnson had the players that Georgia had Tech would win the National Championship. The only problem he would have to have a bail bondsman on his staff.

The new young QB looked O.K. for his first game. He won’t be the runner that Nesbitt was. Nesbitt was a man among boys. The young QB looks like he can pass a little better. Just got to pass it to the right guy. He will learn though. He doesn’t look very durable though. Johnson won’t ask him to run as much though because he will get killed. He is a bit faster and hopefully can pass better and one day we can all hope our receivers hold on to the ball. The defense actually played well enough to win and would have won if Nesbitt hadn’t went out of the game. Just to think of all the hits he took and he brakes his arm on such a average attempt to make a tackle. Weird.
I see where Georgia is playing another top 10 team this weekend. Only problem is they are in the top 10 in the grocery industry! Maybe the Dogs can come back home with some french fries.

TW did an ok job under the circumstances, but people are making it out to be like we are looking at the second coming of Tommy Frazier, Eric Crouch, or Jamel Holloway. 2011 is going to be no better from my vantage point than 2010 was for probably different reasons. Our line play will get better, but we will be breaking in all new skill positions most importantly the QB.

Before the game started last night I expected GT to get blown out by VT, lose to UGA, possibly beat Miami and definitely beat Duke – 6-6 finish and playing in a poor bowl. Midway through the 2nd quarter I thought GT was going to beat VT, Duke and Miami and possibly beat UGA. At the beginning of the 4th quarter, I thought GT was going to lose the last 4.
Now – with Washington having shown some moxie in a tough game, I’m back to 6-6 or 7-5 with a win over Duke, maybe over UM and a loss to UGA

The bumblebees were in the game because of stupid play calling by VT. They were running on Yeck at will but for some reason decided to pass and the QB was not having a good night throwing the ball. The bumblebees will lose out the year and all you bumblebees will get a preview of what next year will look like without Nesbitt. Tevin brings a few more tools to the table — he’s quicker than Nesbitt and he may be a better passer. But Nesbitt’s toughness, mental and physical, can never be understated. Besides, at his size, when the Jackets need a yard or two, he’s the guy to get it, and in the case of last night, and then some.
In 1997, PJ lost his starting quarterback at Appalachian State on the third play of the game to a broken hand. The redshirt sophomore he had to put in struggled mightily. But in the remaining weeks of the season, the offense, with a vastly faster runner at QB, took off.
Both PJ and that frail yet fast quarterback were both inducted into the GSU Athletic Hall of Fame last weekend.

Rockdale Jacket – You did watch the game, didn’t you? He will pass more when it is a) necessary and/or b) effective. The opening play was a pass, something that Johnson has done several times before.

Why can’t CPJ find someone that can kick the ball into the endzone on kickoffs? Every Friday night I see high school kickers kick the ball out of the endzone (from the 40). Why can’t a college aged man kick the ball into the endzone from the 30? VT kicker sure as heck did. We should not be using Blair on kickoffs. You do not need an accurate kicker (which he is) for kickoffs. Come on CPJ, get involved with the special teams and use some common sense!
Also, use real football players on the kickoff team. Alabama uses Trent Richardson on the kickoff team because he is fast enough to track down the other team’s returner. Saban plays the game to win. Maybe CPJ will too some day.

I apologize for my ignorarnt fellow fans from the Dawg Nation. Nesbitt certainly has my respect and you guys fought very hard last night. Impressed me enough to make me a little nervous about late November. Good luck with Miami and Duke but not so much in the real ‘A’-town. ATHENS, GA!!

The backup did look good, but how many times do we see that in just one game? How many times has a backup looked good, only to falter due to inexperience when the load is placed squarely on his shoulders? If this happened in September, I might agree with Mark. But it happened in November with no margin for error. Now teams gameplan for Washington, not Nesbitt. It is a much different deal when Nesbitt will not be coming in to save the day.

Miami destroyed Tech’s offense last year with Nesbitt, Dwyer, and Thomas. They probably wont be any kinder to Washington. Duke will be Tech’s sixth win. UGA? Sorry thats a loss. UGA has the week off and unless AJ Green, Caleb King, and Shaun Chapas decide to miss the game like in September, Tech’s D will not be able to stop them. On the flip side, I dont think Tech is going to fare any better offensively in the game.

GT fans, your team played a hell of a game last night. I’m a VT fan and I have to admit I hate playing you guys, it always seems like you have our number, but it is a fun rivalry. It is going to hurt loosing Nesbitt, but this may have been the best thing for you all in the long run. Your back up QB is going to be very, very good and getting him experience now is only going to make him more dangerous next year. Good luck to you guys, finish strong.

Nesbitt, If you read this. I want you to know you’ve been me and my son’s favorite player for a couple years now. You could have bolted when the option came to town, after-all so many people said it was doomed to fail. You could have taken a lot of plays off, after-all you got hit A LOT in that system. You could have complained about not getting a lot of pass plays. You could have done a lot of things. What you did, was put GT Option football on the map. You beat FSU for the first time since they’ve been in the ACC. You helped put a lot of guys in the NFL. You put Coach Johnson into history with the best first couple years ever at Tech for a coach. You were ACC Champion. You are the star of one of the all time bad-ass plays, where you stripped the fumble away from FSU after a pitch was fumbled. You never were in the news for negative things. Every time I’ve heard you speak, you’ve made me chuckle with a joke…and always you represented Georgia Tech like a true Tech man. My salute to you Josh, you are indeed the man!! Grats on the all time ACC rushing record for QB….hate you left us the way you did…but in classic fashion…you were doing more than a typical QB…you were making a tackle. You gave it all and I really appreciate it. You rock dude. Hopefully you can get another game or two in…either way…thank you for representing Tech so well…such heart…such will…You gonna go open a southern food resturant one day right? Your interview about stuff you like to cook and eat was a pretty good start :) GO JACKETS…SALUTE TO NESBITT and all the rest of the Tech men…thank you!!

I am sure others have written about this but it makes me sad that the last time Joshua Nesbitt will play football was last night. He won’t be drafted as a pro but may get a opportunity as a free agent – lets hope so anyway.

Would be sad to see such a great kid end his football career throwing an interception and breaking his arm.

Get well soon Joshua. You’re a man and Tech fans will always remember your effort, leadership and toughness.

Please explain what makes PJ such a great coach? Give me a break. He has really looked like the next coming of Bear Bryant when teams have had time to prepare for that HS offense that GT runs. Need evidence, last year versus a mediocre Ga team at best and GT was ACC Champions. Check out his bowl records. He plays in the ACC (Almost College Conference)which is absolutely pathetic. The ACC is one minor step above high school. He blew a 14 point lead against a sorry VT team. Before you bring up VT record check out who they have played. Got his butt handed to him by Clempson (wow-talk about yearly chokers. Looked sharp against yaerly powerhouse Kansas. Special teams are very well coached along with that extremely well coached defense. Check the stats. Intrested to watch GT over the next couple years now that the big boys are getting use to playing this HS offense.

I have to agree on one thing. The defense looked a little better. We just made too many dumb mistakes, such as throwing into the end zone and having it picked off. Then PJ going for it on forth down with a rookie quarterback. Va Tech did score on that series. Should have punted and put them down close to their own goal. I guess if you have to give a D.A. award it would go to our Scott Blair, kicked one out of bounds and then kicked short which resulted in a touchdown. We will beat Duke and that is all. I told you it was going to be a long season. Next year PJ needs to get a quarterback who can run plus throw, this is the only way we will win.

Hey…bonairedawg???
CPJ is a great coach. He hasnt had 11 players arrested this year. He isnt on the hot seat. He has control of his team. He has the respect of his team. He is 1-1 vs. UGA-a school with far more resources, better facilities, and repeated top 5 to top 10 recruiting classes. Take it from Dan Mullen, who pasted your tails this year, who has nothing but high regard and respect for CPJ and his ability to coach and adjust on the fly and speaks with him regularly, sharing ideas and formations. Its so funny, you dawg morons have been saying for almost THREE years now that the “big boys” are finally catching up to our offense. “check the stats” you said. Dude, we are LEADING the nation in rushing yards per game this year. We hung 346 yards on the ground last night against one of the LEADING and most sought after DC’s in the country….btw, one who spent 4 days with his ENTIRE staff at Iowa this past offseason trying to learn how they stopped us, as well as spending close to a week in the offseason specifically practicing against the “high school” offense we use so they could stop it. DID NOT HAPPEN. We hung 400 yards plus on them, even after losing Nesbitt for over half the game. That sorry VT team you referred to, is ranked higher than you, has a better record than you, and is much more highly regarded right now in the national arena than YOU are. For the sportsmanlike dawg fans who have been blogging well-wishes to Nesbitt, i humbly thank you and cant wait to see you at the end of the month. For you IDIOTS who are so high and mighty on YOUR DAWGS, who havent beaten ANYONE, go back to your own blogs and whine and moan about losing to Colorado, Miss ST, a Gator team admittedly at thier lowest point in the Meyer era, (btw, is Georgia doing anything this weekend to pay thier respects to the MSU player who just died of cancer? We had MSU logos on the back of our helmets last night). High school offense my arse. Tell me what seat you will be in for the UGA Tech game. I will come sit beside you and LAUGH my tail off at you the entire game. Tech beats Miami 35-17, Duke 38-28, Georgia 28-17 and wins a bowl game with Nesbitt at the helm. 9-4 for us, WORSE case scenario 8-5. UGA WILL NOT EVEN GO TO A BOWL GAME THIS YEAR. Good luck vs. Idaho St. HA!!!!

come on guys, ONE player on a team of about 60 dictates the direction? apparently not, we lost to a lousey ks team and were blown out in two of the other three games we played. maybe we’ll grow as a TEAM w/o nesbitt. maybe for us career college fans it’s a good thing for the team’s maturity.

QUESTION: nesbitt is as good as any other athlete that has come out of college and landed in the nfl. WHAT POSTION WOULD HE PLAY, THOUGH???????????????

Pretty dumb thinking after last year Mark! We went to their house and whooped their top 10, ACC champ arse with possible our worst team in the decade. Johnson was COMPLETELY outcoached by Turner Gil too. Sorry, but CPJ is just another door mat for the SEC big brother in this state.

Nesbitt can’t play QB, but is big enough to play split end or H-Back. If he bulked up, he could play tight end (Gonzales style), but the NFL isn’t out to train folks, so Canada might be his best bet.

One must really laugh at Dogville. Those boys can only beat hapless teams and I am sure they are looking forward to Idaho State so their record will be at .500. As the OBC has stated, Dogville gets the talent, but never produces. I would like to see Mr. Paul Johnson with that talent. I would venture a MNC, whereas Dogville merely remains a regional team.

Typically response from Dogville, tony. It does not matter what after season football game, Bowl, one is intivted. Bowl games traditional make money for any football team. The bottom line is, Dogville, et al, is not that great and cannot beat the so called big boys.

T3, don’t understand your claim of arrogance just because you disagree with a coach’s decision.

CPJ made the call he thought would surprise VT – it didn’t turn out. Thats football.

Arrogance requires someone to blindly disagree with trusted peers and ignore their advice.

Do you have an inside track on any such discussions? CPJ calls the plays. And, he does an excellent job of doing it.

You are way off base.
