Memo to Mark Richt: Bag those black helmets forever, please. (AJC photo by Bob Andres)
Your attention, please. I’m about to recant an earlier prediction. I now believe Georgia will beat Florida.
(Let me also debit my increasingly shrinking account of credibility by noting this: I thought the Gators would win the BCS title. What the heck was I thinking?)
I know, I know. The Gators had a week off and Urban Meyer is too clever not to think of something. But the Urbanator has had a while now to get this offense going, and he hasn’t yet. And here’s what I know: Georgia will go to Jacksonville:
• With the better quarterback.
• With the better offense.
• With the better running game.
• Having won three in a row, as opposed to losing three in a row, which is what Florida has done.
I’m aware that Georgia’s three victories have come against three mediocrities, whereas the Gators have lost to Alabama, LSU and Mississippi State — all of which are ensconced in the Top 25. I really don’t care. I like the way Georgia is playing. I don’t think anybody likes the way Florida is playing.
Here I should also note: I’ve been wrong about this game before. (Two years ago, when the Urbanator’s team won 49-10 and he called his little timeouts.) I could well be wrong again. But I’m calling it Georgia 24, Florida 17.
And now I’m asking: What say you?

Keep dreaming SadDawg, Sad is right. So it matters what chicken bleep LA school we beat. Glad to know some of you delusional Dawgs think KY is a big win. Pitiful, just pitiful. Next, you will be beating your chest when we beat Idaho State or whatever high school team we play next.

Yes, I do have Georgia beating Auburn. Kentucky took Auburn to a 37-34 game, and Georgia whopped up on Kentucky, so I think the way Georgia is playing right now, and how bad Auburn’s defense is, Georgia is the only team that can beat Auburn, Alabama sure can’t.

I don’t know if Georgia will beat Auburn during the regular season, or during the SEC Championship, but I like Richt’s chances when he gets 2 shots at Auburn.

If Kentucky had a defense they would be one of the better teams in the country. They put up big numbers against other good teams so the idea that the Dawgs are going to lose against Florida because of their pass defense against the Cats is ridiculous. Also consider the Gators cant pass nor run I suspect the defense will do just fine. Also the offense game plan will change. I suspect Bobo and company will have alot more pass plays ready to go in the Florida game. Dawgs win 28-10.

why would Georgia worry about a coaching staff that let L.S.U. fake a field goal from 53 yards out with less then a minute left in the game.Let him kick it.What’s the worse that can happen?overtime?90,000 fans were not fooled but the Gator coaching staff was.UrbaN MIGHT NOT BE ALL IN ANYMORE.Can’t help it.they don’t pay u 4 million dollars a year to take it easy. Big decisions at the end of the year.Personally, I think he’s had it mentally.Burn out happens.

No doubt the DAWGS can win. The only realy question is WILL they win. If they play SMART FOOTBALL & don’t shoot themselves in the feet with blown coverages, fumbles on the goal-line & missed takles, they will be fine. FL will be jacked-up for this game with something to prove, and they’ve rested for two weeks, but if UGA plays lights-out like they can, they can put that doubt in the FL team & put them in the tank. In other words, knock ‘em down, and then kick them.
GO DAWGS!!!

Mark, you have either become a Homer, or just plain crazy. UGA over Forida,as much as I’d love to see it, just won’t happen. Georgia thinks beating Vandy was a big deal and will be over confident. Florida will be rested and will, once again, rip UGA.

Georgia has a decent shot against Florida, but unfortunately a defense that leaks like a sieve has no shot against Auburn.

I’m reluctant to pick any team in any game this year given my record. However, Florida’s problem is Urban Meyer. Florida won’t beat Georgia this year. Urban is exposed. If Richt can’t come up with preparation and a plan to defeat a Gator team this far on the skids, he certainly has to go.
The idea of beating Auburn isn’t even in the realm of possibility at this juncture but, for me personally to stomach the Richt era one more year, beating Florida and Tech is a must. Losing to Ida ST would be acceptable but losing to Florida is not.
With that said, yes, there is no reason why the Dawgs lose to Florida. Georgia is clearly the superior team. The offense can score and while the defense is porous they can stop. Gauging the Defense by Kentucky is wrong, the Wildcats can score a lot of points on anyone.

Urban is missing Tebow, Dan the offensive man, Spikes, Hernandez, and a bunch more. He appears to have lost his fire…until I seen him cut his eyes at Adazzio..I thout it was over. Gators…loosing 4 back to back…I don’t thinks so. Mark (from FL State) has had ore tail whoopings than he’d like from Spurrier and Meyer….his recod is dismal. Florida wins ugly by 3.

The Dawgs were suppose to lose that game next week. You know, the mighty #4 Gators and all but guess what? That team dressed in a Gator uniform and that coach on the sidelines are Posers in the true sense of the word. Florida can’t beat their meat and you have a coach that doesn’t know what to do about it.

UGa will go into this game with confidence but hopefully not over confident. They really haven’t beaten anyone of consequence in evening their record. In order to finish 7-5 they really need to finally beat FL. If the lose 6-6 is a definite possibility. The pressure is on.

We win in Jacksonville when the offense is productive. Over the last several years, we put way to much pressure on the defense. Many of the blowout losses turned ugly on critical mistakes by the offense. Charlie Strong had Georgia’s number. Let’s see if we can count on a strong running game to change our luck. Go Dawgs, look forward to being in Jax. later in the week.

Adazzio v Grantham = Adazzio but the Gator players have to make the plays
Bobo v Austin = Austin but again the Gator players have to make the plays
Special Teams = UGA
UGA’s D can’t stop any O. The Gators have been shooting themselves in the foot.
Gator’s D can’t stop any O. UGA has many big play players if they don’t turn it over.
This should come down to the Special Teams winning the game for either team.

all I know is UGA leads the overall series 46-39-2….yeah florida has won 17 of the last 20…. so before then it was 43-22-2 UGA…. which means the tide will turn again and why not start now…. we have the better QB(only a freshman) and alot of young talent to surround him with….. this is the turn around game

Too close to tell. Both GA and FLA are crap this year. This game really is worthless….just bragging rights only but both teams should bury their heads after the season they are having. It will be close but I see the Gators stopping the run and shutting GA down………………Florida 27 – Georgia 13

Mark, I hope you’re right, but I doubt it. UGA coaches and players (and, yes, fans) clearly have a head problem when it comes to UF. They could be winless, we could be ranked #1, and I’d still have to go with UF. Until we actually step out on to the field, hit them hard at the outset (no gimmicks!), don’t let up until 000 on the clock, and win, and do so 2 or 3 years in a row, you have to go with UF just based on recent history.

Their defense is better than our offense. Our defense gives up the huge pass plays. Florida will probably get those off enough to win. Maybe a heartbreaker maybe a blow out. I do like our chances more so than in the Tebow era. the defense giving up the late plays in the KY game was a little disappointing. But they did get the job done. Go Dawgs!

@ Dawgster- How can you honestly say anything when UGA is leading the college nation Fulmer Cup? Also Richt has justified every goon- you got kids not showing up for court but your fan base all say “it is just a speeding ticket” UGA fans are who spins it. Again “NO CHARGES” filed- I don’t agree with any threats- but if it were really a threat why would charges be dropped?

4 losses in a row for CMR this year, 3 losses in a row for CUM (ha, that looks funny typed like that)…we are certainly in unchartered territory here. Who would think so much could be riding on a game involving two unranked teams. This is a BIG game for both programs (much more than bragging rights) but nationally I am sure no one cares.

Agree, I think we have a chance to win…only thing I’d ad are two assumptions: 1. We score first to gain some immediate momentum. 2. Play calling doesn’t revert to a predictable “conservative” strategy in which case Coach Urban will shut it down.
