Listen up: I like UGA over the Gators. Whaddaya think of that?

Memo to Mark Richt: Bag the black helmets, please. (AJC photo by Bob Andres)

Memo to Mark Richt: Bag those black helmets forever, please. (AJC photo by Bob Andres)

Your attention, please. I’m about to recant an earlier prediction. I now believe Georgia will beat Florida.

(Let me also debit my increasingly shrinking account of credibility by noting this: I thought the Gators would win the BCS title. What the heck was I thinking?)

I know, I know. The Gators had a week off and Urban Meyer is too clever not to think of something. But the Urbanator has had a while now to get this offense going, and he hasn’t yet. And here’s what I know: Georgia will go to Jacksonville:

• With the better quarterback.

• With the better offense.

• With the better running game.

• Having won three in a row, as opposed to losing three in a row, which is what Florida has done.

I’m aware that Georgia’s three victories have come against three mediocrities, whereas the Gators have lost to Alabama, LSU and Mississippi State — all of which are ensconced in the Top 25. I really don’t care. I like the way Georgia is playing. I don’t think anybody likes the way Florida is playing.

Who wins Saturday?

Here I should also note: I’ve been wrong about this game before. (Two years ago, when the Urbanator’s  team won 49-10 and he called his little timeouts.) I could well be wrong again. But I’m calling it Georgia 24, Florida 17.

And now I’m asking: What say you?

Yellow Fuzz……..Can’t believe you are on here….Shouldn’t you be scanning Tech’s last two recruiting classes ( Rivals 43rd and 48th respectfully) and crying over the Gailey talent gone ….and leaving……and wondering how after this year, Tech will get Bowl eligible again. That roster full of 2 an 3 star players starting to show up……Coach”m up is ya’lls battle cry………LOL

A victory over Florida this year won’t get many kudos except in Georgia. A defeat will make the Auburn game the only chance left to beat a ranked team. Not a good time for anybody to play Auburn. I know. The only thing really close in the LSU game was the score. Unlike Florida, UGA only needed to press the reset button(AJ) to get started. Florida’s problems are much more complex. LSU needs to get by Alabama and Arkansas somehow and have somebody beat Auburn. I would love for Georgia and Alabama to take down Auburn. Unfortunately, I don’t see LSU or UGA completing those missions. Alabama, maybe yes.

If Georgia could defend the forward pass, they would run the table….Kentucky threw at will on our secondary, with a pretty good pass rush……We have a 60/40 chance to beat Gators and a 30/70 against Auburn. Our line is really starting to jell, with that, we run it down Tech’s throat again with Nesbitt helplessly watching on the sidelines and win pretty easy. Tech will be calling for Johnson’s head next year after Nesbitt leaves and they sputter to 5-7 or so….

Bradley you hate the gators and write more foolish articles about them than any other writer in the country. We all know UF will win. Glad you didn’t say UGA has the better coach, since you know Meyer is the better coach and has the better defense. Don’t like Brantley, but Murray is nothing great either. Gators win.

This will be my 30th. trip to the Florida game. I’ve always politiced to keep the game in Jacksonville because that is where I think it is supposed to be played. IF Florida wins this year, I’ll be changing my mind about the game and will politic to have a home and home or possible moving it to Atlanta. I’ll hate it but if we can’t start winning this game in Jacksonville, Georgia has to think about changing the game venue.

UGA will beat Florida by 3, Idaho State by 33, Auburn by 7 and Tech by 27. The D is a concern but we definitely have a better offense than Florida and their defense is only slightly better. We can win a shootout against Auburn or a low scoring game. We’ll kill Tech, say 44-17. You know that you have a really weak non-conference schedule when Tech is the best team you’ll face out of conference.

Well you know—Georgia has a mental thing about beating Florida—I really do not understand it because usually when ateam lines up and runs over Florida —Florida does not win. You have to play physical and to the last second of the game with no turn overs—-other wise–Florida will win this game no doubt–I just dont think Richt gets it yet–Dooley never struggeled (sp?) with Florida—-Maybe Richt should talk to Dooley about the Florida game and get some suggestions. It would be nice to see Georgia beat Florida but———I will go ahead and make a prediction–if Richt does not beat Florida and Ga Tech this year ———–he will be fired–end of story.

TampaGator..as usual you get on here and spin things your way all the time…and my friend..you can say our QB’s incident and that of Rainey’s is apples and oranges, but i would disagree..but that fine if want to say that…if you would bother reading my posts a little with a little more intellegence you would see that i was trying to say that both of the incidents were violations against young women, no matter how you spin it or what charge was what or who plead what…i will say that i would think that a young man that texted someone “time to die” is pretty serious and also when a young man puts his hand on a woman without her permisssion, drinking or not, it is quiet serious and our coach did what he had to do…your coach had the same opportunity but chose another route..thats his choice..alos, since as you do do often…you forget what you post…then comeback and attack the people that disagree with you by insulting their intellegence…i commented about your sarcastic remarks toward the dawgs as you always do…i said nothing about who you thought should win or not…my whole point to you was that you always want to put the dawg fans down for any excitement that they may have on our team…we understand where we are and how the season has been so far, but everytime we make a statement regarding how the team has improved and that we are looking better..but you have to get in your digs, everytime..i don’t get that..but i guess its just how you feel..again….i its sad that you feel that their is a big difference in what Rainey did or that he wasn’t convicted because the charges were dropped..bottom line is that whether it was a dumb, silly mistake or not, he still cannot deny, nor can you, that he did indeed send a threatening text…but as i said earlier, everyone makes mistakes…wasn’t my decision nor yours so it is what it is..i was only pointing out how the two incidents were handled differently…i will say this whether the dawgs win or lose Sat to the gators, i won’t come on here and get on your fans for feeling good about your team nor will i say how great we are or rub it in your noses…i will enjoy the win, and move on from there…i will be anxious to see how you respond to the dawg faithful if you should win…anyway good luck and should be a good game…go dawgs.

As far as the BCS, if the SEC champion is left out of the title game it won’t really be legitimate. After 4 straight BCS titles the SEC has earned the right to be represented in the championship. Any other outcome will cost the BCS title game credibility, especially if lightweight Boise State is one of the opponents. I’d venture to bet that less than a quarter of the country truly believes the Broncos can stay on the field with the SEC champion for more than a quarter. Hell, UGA would blow them out (again), and they’re an also-ran in the SEC East. The media and the computers would never treat “mighty” USC with so little respect.

UGA 40 UF 42.

This happens if, and only if, UF turns it over at least 4 times in their own redzone, if Urban leaves the game for health reasons, if Murray grows 6″ between now and Saturday, if UF is on its 3rd string QB and UGA puts 14 players on the field every 2nd, 3rd and 4th down and the refs don’t call it… and yes, if we do another blackout!!!!

We suck. We really do. I’m over the hype folks. We’re not consitent. We’re not a winning team, we just made .500. We have a coach balding and getting fatter this year while OUR, NOT HIS, team gets worse. Its time for a new start and I sure as hell hope we lose by 3-4 TDs to UF and single handedly win Cam Newtons heisman for him. As long as we beat GT and the fact we beat UT is enough for me.

Ok…i hope a certain individual reads this, but here goes…I think the dawgs will play well down in jax and put up some points, however, as has been the case, it seems the gators are in our head, and i think we still are not quiet there as a unit yet, although i am very proud of this team and how they have fought back…i turly hope i’m wrong, but i think with the bye week for the gators and them having lost 3 in a row, that the odds are a little bit in their favor…i could definately see us winning maybe by a touchdown or less, but if i had to bet, and i wont be, i think it could end up 24-20, with the gators on top….i do worry how the fan base will react if we lose again however…its truly a big game for us not only for this year but for going forward…go dawgs and prove me wrong…

Not impressed by him. Not sure who is out there but willing to take a chance on someone who wins 5 games in a season but has a resume like Chizik.

I saw the bowl projections that Delbert D. posted. Is anyone as tired as I am of almost always playing the “league that can’t count”, i.e. the Big 10? Playing them got old in the 90’s. Beating them consistently has become even more tiresome. Sure, the Dawgs got FSU and Hawaii in the Sugar Bowl, but those were the least attractive games of the major bowls in both of those years. I’d prefer to take on a Pac-10 or Big 12 team, especially before realignment comes to those conferences. I especially want to have a shot at the University of Spoiled Children (USC) or Nebraska. The Dawgs’ record probably precludes those match-ups this year, but stranger things have happened. I’ve seen 10-1 teams wind up in the Holiday Bowl against 8-4 teams before. UGA went 9-1-1 and shared the SEC championship (if my memory is correct) and had to settle for the Bluebonnet Bowl against a mediocre Stanford in the late 70’s. The disappointed Dawgs played with no emotion and lost that game, too. It would be nice to be the underDawg and show the nation what kind of football is played in the South. As if they didn’t already have a clue by now.

UGA2002…come on, we have a better chance than that..at least be realistic..i know our record is not great, but we really are better than our record…i know thats not much consolation as it is about wins…but if you look at the teams we lost too, minus Colorado, which to me was the most disappointing..we have been right there with some very good teams…i think any realistic fan looking at this season with the new QB and new defensive coaches and scheme would have been happy with 9-4, or 8-5 with the hopes of being 10-3…I believe next year you will see a more mature team, even though we lose some good players, we have some extremely talented young players ready to step in and we also have an outstanding recruiting class so far, if we can get them signed and with a few more extremely talented players that we have on the radar the next few seasons could be special…go dawgs

Bottom Line

October 24th, 2010
10:43 pm

This about as even as these two teams have been in awhile. Tebow gave the Gators a big advantage in the last 4 years. He was that good a player and leader. Florida has not found a player to fill that void yet.

Georgia was never as bad as they looked during that 4 game losing streak, nor are they as good as they have looked in the last three.

This game will come down to who plays the best early. Florida has to lack some confidence because of their current losing streak, but if something good happens early for them, they could roll.
Georgia is gaining confidence, but has to overcome the “demons” of playing Florida and the lack of success they have had against the Gators. If something good happens to them early, they could roll. This game will be decided by 2 touchdowns either way.

Oh, and to the dopes who want to fire Bobo, check out the SEC stats and see where Georgia ranks in total offense. And that was without A.J. and Chapas for 4 games. Some of you folks are just plain dumb with your comments. And I used to pull for Tech when they were not playing Georgia, but you Tech fans are making it very hard to continue that. Ya’ll have problems of your own, that ain’t going to get fixed this year.

where are we without Green next year? And whoever else gets arrested or suspended by the NCAA because lord knows Richt won’t suspend nobody if his butt is on the line. would anyone take murray in the NFL? No. Would anyone other than a 3rd tier team take a fired CMR? No. Hell ND wouldn’t take him.

We’re out of control and we’re about to hit a brick wall with UF because I’ve got a bad feeling they’ve gotten their act together and it won’t be anything anyone has seen on tape this year and that means adjustments which we don’t make well will not be made at all.

when you start firing cordinators to keep your job, the ship has sunk. I don’t see Saban doing that but we saw Tubberville do it for sure at Auburn. it’s a sign.

Bottom Line..you’re right the dawgs were not as bad as they looked nor as good as they look now, probably somewhere in between…i hop on Sat they are better than they really are..you’re right on about the confidence they have gained, but its got to be in the back of their minds as to how this series has gone for awhile…i know its in my mind…but on paper it looks like this one should be pretty even….i think our offense will be the key..we have got to move the ball, and we have done that in the past, but had to settle for field goals…we cannot do that this time…we need to punch it in when we get to the red zone..defense will be tested and probably give up some yardage and some points, but in the end it will be whether our offense can score enough…

I also think that both teams are middling so far this season but I believe that the dawgs are on the upswing. If they stay focused and disciplined, they stand a good chance of winning. SEC Fact Finder

October 24th, 2010
11:38 pm

This is going to be a fun week, all the smack talk, bragging, accusations etc. all week.

Lets look realistically at this game and what each team has done in the previous 8 games this year.

UGA just spent the week and weekend preparing and playing a Kentucky team that played UGA hard for 4 quarters and would not allow UGA to substitute as freely as they really wanted to.
UF was at home with an off week to heal, regroup and find answers to their offensive woes.

UGA will get back Caleb King after a suspension, UF will get back Chris Rainey from a suspension.

UGA will have a normal week for preparation, while UF has 13 days to scout and game plan UGA.

UGA has won 3 straight games against 3 teams with losing records in SEC play. UF has lost three straight games against 3 teams that are ranked in the top 25. Winning is winning, and losing is losing, and streaks are streaks.

The biggest factor in this game is going to be how Urban adjusted his offense, and any new wrinkles he has added and how long it takes UGA and Todd Grantham to adjust. Georgia has a pretty good offense and UF has a pretty good defense. UF has a below average offense and UGA has a fair defense.

The adjustments, the rest and the resurgence of UGA will make this a tough one to call. But in everygame this season when a team has had and off week to prepare the team with the off week has won.

Like I said, this is going to a fun week to read all the tash talking.

Danny Wuerffel was the Gators QB. They played here in Athens. By far it was the best game of the whole year…it was money pumped into Athens.

So…..this is 15 years in the making I believe it is time for me to pull a JACKSONVILLE VIRGIN and say I am headed down to the game this weekend if I can find some tickets. LETS GO DAWG FANS LETS GET CRUNK….>>>>GO DAWGS SICK EM!
