Memo to Mark Richt: Bag those black helmets forever, please. (AJC photo by Bob Andres)
Your attention, please. I’m about to recant an earlier prediction. I now believe Georgia will beat Florida.
(Let me also debit my increasingly shrinking account of credibility by noting this: I thought the Gators would win the BCS title. What the heck was I thinking?)
I know, I know. The Gators had a week off and Urban Meyer is too clever not to think of something. But the Urbanator has had a while now to get this offense going, and he hasn’t yet. And here’s what I know: Georgia will go to Jacksonville:
• With the better quarterback.
• With the better offense.
• With the better running game.
• Having won three in a row, as opposed to losing three in a row, which is what Florida has done.
I’m aware that Georgia’s three victories have come against three mediocrities, whereas the Gators have lost to Alabama, LSU and Mississippi State — all of which are ensconced in the Top 25. I really don’t care. I like the way Georgia is playing. I don’t think anybody likes the way Florida is playing.
Here I should also note: I’ve been wrong about this game before. (Two years ago, when the Urbanator’s team won 49-10 and he called his little timeouts.) I could well be wrong again. But I’m calling it Georgia 24, Florida 17.
And now I’m asking: What say you?

Georgia beats up on the 2 worst teams in the sec and then beats a mildcat team that had its top running back out and beat themselves in the first half with all their turnovers and now the dawgs fans suddently thing they’re all that. Amusing isn’t it?

Dawg Day Afternoon….
You need to go back and rewatch that game…Florida dominated on both sides of the ball (and completely shut down the Vols running game)….on the scoreboard….and with the stats from the game. Only Gator turnovers prevented a much bigger blowout.

Got to go….
But I am being realistic…vs. a lot of Georgia fans on here who think their team is all that now with big vics over the Dores, the Vols, and the beat up (after the SC game) Wildcats.
The Georgia/Florida game is a toss up….but I sure hope the Georgia players are thinking the Gators are “terrible” like their fans are….it will make the Gators challenging task of beating the Dawgs this year a lot easier.

Nothing like a week off. I still don’t think Georgia has proved anything. I think they beat two teams because of the week before. One being Tenn. who has lost to LSU and the other being Kentucky because they had beaten South Carolina. Florida did beat Kentucky about the same margin as Georgia but beat them down there. Close game but I see that cockiness coming back into Georgia which always helps their opponents of late When they get cocky they can play some pretty stupid football. Florida by 3.

Richt’s been waiting for this—a chance to payback urban meyer for those low class timeouts he called in the 2008 game. Richt will take every chance to score even with a big lead and will be calling the timeouts this time. Mark it down–Dawgs win in a rout! Ga wins by 4 TDs!

They are setting us up. It’s a trap. After a few wins the fans think the Dawgs have a chance to beat the Gators, but they will get beat again.

Chris Rainey has not paid dearly for anything … Demetre Baker paid dearly. This kid should have to sit the remainder of the year to learn a valuable lesson. If he plays Saturday, he will learn nothing and you can bet he will pay dearly next time. Just Sayin’.

TOO FUNNY!!! We beat Tenn, Vandy, Kentucky and LA LA…….and now we are going to smoke that victory cigar for beating and unranked Fla. team on a 3 game skid! Wow, what a program!! By the way, we still aren’t ranked and won’t be next week at 5-4 after beating mediocre fla. National power!!!!! TOO FUNNY.

Only because Florida is a Pansie team this year. Florida ranks 90th in total offense in the Nation (out of 120 teams). That’s pretty bad – so UGA SHOULD beat them.

I think they can beat the Gators but can and will are two different things. Fla had this past week off and Meyer is not a dummy. I think the Gators will prevail if no other reason than that. BTW, it seems Fla has had an off week before Ga game many many times. Just how many advantages do those guys need? I say alternate the game between the Ga Dome and Jacksonville. Forget tradition!

I see we have some Auburn trolls here. Don’t count your chickens before they hatch. All it takes is for Newton to have a bad game and they still have some tough games left. Your defense hasn’t been that good.

I think the Dawgs beat the Gators anway. But, they will win by a better margin if they snatch Rambo and replace him with Ogletree along with replacing Vance Cuff. They simply give up too many big plays its obvious.

I see leadership qualities in Aaron Murray that are similar to David Greene who had his best year as a redshirt freshman. I sure am glad he’s on our side. Imagine if he wasn’t the UGA QB this year or worse if he was playing for the gators. I shudder to think the fortunes of these two teams if Murray chose to be a gator. Thank you, Tampa.

After the last 20 years of Cocktail Party history, I’ve seen us lose every way imaginable to the Gators.
They will take 2 weeks to figure things out-like, when in doubt throw screen passes.
It seems like uGA must have the best 1st and 2nd down defense in the SEC but without a doubt, the worst 3rd down defense imaginable.
My guess is that UF looks like a different team on Saturday.

Whatever Florida has done this season, throw it out the window because it doesn’t mean a thing for this game. They had an extra week to prepare, and trust me, Meyer is going to have his offense ready. I don’t think they will score a ton of point, but I bet they will score around 20-30 points. The key is turnover margin, the team that wins the turnover battle will win this game.

Look. Florida is NOT garbage! They got beat handily by Bama–no shame in that. They lost to a very good and lucky LSU team in the last minute–no shame in that. But to lose in that way, like Georgia losing to Arkansas, is DEFLATING. This was to the benefit of a decent Miss State team in both cases. Teams often come out flat after losing a heartbreaker…Georgia lost to LSU in the last minute last year, then came out flat against UT. This year UT lost a heartbreaker to LSU, then came out flat against us. UF is a pretty good team with a sold defense and a lot of weapons on offense. They will come out and play well against us.
