5 reasons Georgia Tech is even worse off than you’d think

1. Apparently B-backs aren’t interchangeable. Jonathan Dwyer rushed for 1,395 yards in both 2008 and 2009. Over the winter Paul Johnson said he’d be willing to bet his new B-back would gain 1,000 yards. Anthony Allen has rushed for 267 yards in four games, which would translate to 801 over a full regular season.

2. Apparently Bay-Bay was indispensable. Joshua Nesbitt passed for 1,701 yards last season, most of them to Demaryius Thomas. Nesbitt has thrown for 316 yards over four games, which projects to 948 over a full regular season. His completion percentage, which was 46.3 a year ago, is 32.6 now.

3. Apparently it wasn’t all about the defensive coordinator. Dave Wommack’s defense ranked 54th nationally last season, yielding an average of 360 yards per game. Al Groh’s defense ranks 71st, yielding 367 yards. In pass defense Tech was 45th last season; it’s 69th now.

4. Apparently “depth” isn’t synonymous with “talent.” Before the season, Johnson called this his deepest Tech team. After losing to N.C. State, Groh lamented that his defense had made but three significant plays in 81 snaps and that there was no “supermarket” where the Jackets could go buy better players.

5. Even with the ACC in retreat, four difficult games remain. Tech must play at Clemson, at Virginia Tech and at Georgia, and it will face Miami at Bobby Dodd Stadium. Given that the Jackets have already lost twice when favored and that their only victory of consequence came against depleted North Carolina, this team could wind up 7-5 — or worse.

Equal time (sort of): 5 reasons the Georgia Bulldogs are better than you’d think.

They’re worse off because they have an identity crisis wearing solid black stripes on the pants, with the chevron gold on the hip area not counting as preventing “black”. The order from the Alum Assn was “black is out”. I read this in the Tech Topics alum mag. This order to the Georgia Tech organization was given right after the “Black Watch Defense” black jerseys’ years. Additionally, the Vegas gold jerseys are part of UNLV’s name of the University of Las Vegas. The only color the team wears this season that is a Tech color is the gold of the helmets.

If all GT fan want is to beat UGA by the end of year, then GT football will NEVER be what it has been in the past. In today’s college football program, if you can’t recruit, then you got no chance. If you have no aspiration of winning a NCAA championship, then you got no chance in recruiting. Sorry to say, Paul Johnson won with Chan Gailey’s players. Now, PJ got no excuses….

A win is a win in my book so way to finish Tech. But on another note I have not seen anything on how well the 2 schools were represented in the Ryder cup even though it was a loss for the USA congrats to Tech for having 2 Alums and UGA for 1.

Beating Tech will be ugags season. Same as last year. Winning the sec does not matter to leg-humper fans as long as ugag beats Tech.

Tech is not a bible football college like BYU. CPJ’s first year started off with traditional Tech old gold striped white uniforms, the old synonomous with the Old Testament. Last year the old was gone, perhaps synonomous with the New Testament since the uniforms had nothing old on them, with new the only bible testament left. The pants had wide vegas stripes of light “new” gold and were passable. This year is again the New Testament “Vegas” light gold, but the jerseys scream “vegas!”, and maybe the UNLV football program. Additionally they just aren’t traditional old gold of Tech. Such apparent adherence to the bible by CPJ is more appropriate for BYU and the Lavell Edwards Field, not Bobby Dodd Stadium. Tech does not want religion majors nor do they have or ever have had a religion major. I know, I went to Tech. It’s like CPJ is tryin’ to polish an apple for Tech by adhering to the bible. I’d like the Athletic Association, the decision making group of profs and the head footbal coach, to switch back to the old gold and stay there, and I’m not a Jew either. Black is also out at Tech for use in side stripes of pants or any other majority use on football uniforms, as decreed by the Alum Accociation after Bill Curry’s firing at Tech since he went with black jerseys commensurate with Wake or Georgia.

“@ Jesse Stone “That patrolman with CPJ in that picture is my old high school friend Stacy Forrest. I know it has nothing to do with the article, but I had to get a shout out.”

I have been looking at the picture of them and still can’t figure out who has the biggest gut Forrest or Johnson. Was your “old friend” a lardazz back in high school too? I thought GHP officers had to stay in shape. Heaven forbid they may have to run down a suspect…..you know,” like a UGA player.”

that is pretty funny, just now reading this
