Here we are at historic Bobby Dodd Stadium on another sun-splashed Saturday. (Photo by M. Bradley)
The North Carolina State Wolfpack arrived at Hartsfield-Jackson late Friday afternoon, just in time for what we Atlantans know to be the absolute worst traffic period of any week. The Wolfie entourage piled into four chartered buses for the ride up the Downtown Connector to their Buckhead hotel.
Buses 1 and 4 made it.
Buses 2 and 3 ran into each other.
According to Debbie Yow, State’s athletic director, the bus drivers weren’t at fault. Apparently pesky Atlanta motorists kept buzzing between the buses, who were endeavoring to stay in formation. Buses 2 and 3 were rendered inoperative after 3 rear-ended 2 — one of them needed to have its door pried open — and no other charter coaches were available for rescue duty and the only solution was for Buses 1 and 4 to drop their passengers at the hotel and return for the occupants of 2 and 3.
“We weren’t crazy about the idea of 60 people walking by the side of I-75,” Yow said.
Long story short: Everybody eventually got to the hotel, and nobody was injured. And the State party made it to Bobby Dodd Stadium for today’s noon start without difficulty. And we’re 44 minutes from kickoff as I type, and I’m intrigued to see how Georgia Tech handles an ACC opponent at full strength. (North Carolina worked without 12 men last Saturday in Chapel Hill.)
I’m assuming Tech will win, but State has been better than advertised, and its victory over Cincinnati was one of the few early games this beleaguered league can identify as a point of pride.
And with that, the ajc.com blogline is open for questions, observations and lamentations about the Braves. I’m here to watch and report — and I’m happy to say that I feel much better this Saturday than I did a week ago in Chapel Hill — and I’d appreciate if you’d, er, come along for the ride.

I’m sorry I thought this was a Jacket blog. I must have accidentally hit the Brave’s blog. How embarrassing for real jacket fans. No wonder you all hang out on the UGA blog.

how many passes it that for nesbitt now? if GT threw it more, might have a chance but that’s the price you pay when you run the ball 99% of the time.

Another incomplete pass from Nesbitt. What’s with this guy? Did he delve into Mark Richt’s private Prozac stash? Come on, Tech!!!

The difference I’ve noticed in the 3-4 is that UGA has Justin Houston to rush the QB.

Its fun to listen to CPJ get defensive about his offense after a game like this. You have to create at least some small threat of throwing the ball.

This offense is horrible. The pass defense is horrible. I am tired of this stupid triple option. Time to move on and get someone else. Sure we can beat duke and wake and uva with this garbage but it’s been figured out. Go take this garbage back to Div 1 AA or Navy. No good recruit is going to come with this crap.

The stop on 4th was the dagger. All State has to do is not turn it over and eat clock, which should be pretty simple against this D, which in addition to not being very good is now tired. Stick a fork in this one, it’s done…

I think it’s safe to say Groh should be fired immediately. It should have been done after the first game. I have never seen such a bad defense, not even in Pop Warner.

Good God we are not playing well today. I knew we would be having a rebuilding year, I did not know that it would be this bad. NC State is playing well though minus all of the penalties, maybe they can represent the ACC well during their non-conference games.

somebody explain it to me rationally. This is NOT a great N.C. State team and Tech is really stinkin up the place. What’s missing? Is it just a lack of good linemen on both sides of the ball and the coach’s stubborness and macho approach?

Athens, yea really. Thomas made huge plays for GT and now teams don’t have to worry about that threat. It’s football 101. And I’m hoping to pick Thomas up today on my fantasy team.
