Wednesday's Philly Daily News makes the obvious joke.
Philadelphia – Michael Vick arrived in Atlanta knowing the Falcons would someday be his team to run. He signed with the Eagles last August assured of nothing except a paycheck and a chance. But there he stood Wednesday, ringed at his locker by a media throng 50 members strong, a sign bearing the words “Walk Your Talk!” above his head.
There he stood, again an NFL starting quarterback.
“I’m very gratified to have this opportunity,” Vick said. “I’m very humbled by it.”
And that, it must be said, is how he seemed. This isn’t the cocksure No. 7 who came to the Falcons looking to revolutionize his position. Too much scar tissue has formed, the bulk of it self-inflicted. Michael Vick is 30 now, and he has been to jail. There was never a guarantee that he would work another day in the only league that matters, let alone run another team.
“Plenty of times,” he said, “I doubted I’d have [this] opportunity.”
But now he does. In a move that left the Philadelphia media in high dudgeon, Eagles coach Andy Reid announced Tuesday night that he was promoting Vick over Kevin Kolb, whom Reid had insisted was his starter no matter what.
On Wednesday at the team’s practice facility, Reid was roasted for what were cast as a series of lies. That was OK, Reid said: “I can handle this.” And there was, he maintained, a greater point: “This is nothing about Kevin Kolb. This is all about Michael Vick and the way he has played the game. He has played as outstanding as any quarterback in the league to this point.”
Vick took over for a concussed Kolb and rallied the Eagles in an opening loss to Green Bay. Last Sunday he started and generated 35 points in a narrow victory over Detroit. He has looked like the Vick of old, only better.
Reid: “Michael Vick has surprised all of us with his play. I’m proud of him … He has busted his tail working at some of the things he wanted to get better at doing — like feeling pressure and subtly moving away but staying in the pocket, like scrambling but keeping his eyes downfield and making the throw.”
The elder Jim Mora, father of the Falcons’ then-coach, wondered on radio if Vick was “a coach-killer.” Among more nuanced offensive minds, Vick has long been regarded as the most tantalizing figure in the sport — the fastest quarterback ever with one of the strongest arms in the sport. Bobby Petrino was so besotted by Vick that he told an associate the 2007 Falcons would average 30 points a game, but that chapter, alas, went unwritten. Vick was indicted before training camp and never played a down for Petrino.
And now it’s Reid, long regarded as one the game’s great schemers, who has Vick at his disposal. “I didn’t appoint him [the starter] for one week,” the coach said. Indeed, Reid has invested a huge amount of political capital in this stunning choice. If Vick fails, Reid might fall.
Will Vick fail? “I know what I can do,” he said. “But until you get out there, you’re not sure you can make the plays you’re capable of making.”
Many will see Vick as the villain, the confessed slayer of dogs. (I cringed when a reporter asked Reid if Vick “would be kept on a short leash” in Sunday’s game at Jacksonville.) But the man has paid his debt, and he has it within him to write a truly stirring redemption song.
Said Vick: “I always reflect on things that happened in the past. A lot of situations could have been avoided. I put myself in those situations.”
Also this: “Everything I’ve been through has made a stronger individual. I’m trying to rise like the phoenix.”
Then this: “There’s no question this is a blessing from God.”
Having known Michael Vick for nearly a decade, I can say that he as a younger man never felt anything could go wrong. He knows better now. I believe he will do everything in his power to make this second chance go right. I believe he’s going to make it after all.

Anyone who would do what conVIC has done to a dog has a basic personality flaw….the kind of flaw that we see serial killers have as children. He is always going to have that flaw even if he hides it for awhile. Vick is a con artist and Philly Fans will be sorry they backed him.

No, it’s not! It’s the natural progression for you, Mike, to do what you do best and earn a living at it. There is no diety who had anything whatsoever in your fortunes – good and bad! It was all done by you and those who have been your support group these past few years! If there were a god, I’d hope he’s more concerned with Afghanistan and the Middle East than a friggin’ football player!

Why is this news? Reid has made a career out of screwing non-black QBs (just ask Jeff Garcia). He chose McNabb over anyone and everyone and now he’s going to do the same with Vick. Hey Andy, do Kolb a favor and trade him NOW. Trade him to anyone else, just don’t make him sit on your segregated bench. I’ve been an avid Vick hater because he’s a scumbag off the field. He has been playing well, and I hope he proves me wrong. That doesn’t make what’ happening to Kevin Kolb any more fair or any less racist.

I hope he fails and the Eagles fail with him. He legally deserves any chance afforded to him but that doesn’t mean that I have to support him. He is a pretty sorry human being and set the Falcons franchise back a few years because of his own selfishness. If the Eagles want this criminal as the face of their franchise, then more power to them. Let them dig their own grave.

Everybody that truly love Mike Vick!
THE MAN is back on the field and back TV! And what we need to do as a community is come together to show our support and our solidarity and our love for the special human being that put this city on the map!
Let’s everybody put on your #7 jerseys Falcons or Eagles and let us all show all the haters that we all know and remember who the real face of football in this city is and remind Arthur Blank of all the people who remember what he did to the greatest athlete in the history of this whole state!
When we go out and about this week while showing our support for Mike by wearing our jersey let’s all do the following together to show we are united and that we are strong.
* When you go out to the mall to do your shopping walk as slow as you can so that all the haters will be stuck behind you and they will see that 7 IN THEIR FACE! They will remember who they REAL QUARTERBACK is!
* You go into one of them stores and start singing out loud about #7 while wearing your jersey or however you feel lead to do. There ain’t nobody going to take away mine or your right to free speech. Make all them haters know how you feel!
* If you go to the movies be sure to say your love for Mike loud and proud during the movie so all the haters won’t be able to enjoy the movie and will have to sit there and think about what this city lost.
* When you get out on the highway don’t use your turn signal when you make turns or change lanes so all the haters will be confused about where you going – You will be just like Mike do when he dodge line backers and won’t no body be able to guess where he will zig zag next.
* When you got out to get you some lunch back your ride into as many parking spaces as you can so all the ignorant haters won’t have nowhere good to park.
* After you have your lunch in your ride and throw your bones out the car window be sure to get to to arrange them so they spell out MV7 and so all the haters will see it and be forced to RECOGNIZE! when they walk by and see it.
Together we are strong! And we can send a message to EVERYBODY that MV THE MAN is back and he is to take care of business! Show all them sorry people that just want to hate on Mike for NO REASON whats up!
WE LOVE YOU MIKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Watching Kolb and Vick during training camp, there wasn’t a moment where I wasn’t in awe of Vick’s athletic ability. Kolb looked scared, inexperienced and very unimpressive out there. What Vick did is horrendous but he paid his due — let him be. You don’t have to like him, just let him do his job, which he is very good at. I can’t wait to see him play – everyone deserves a second chance — Go Vick!

Mark, I’m glad you have known Vick for a decade and can judge his sincerity so well. Too bad since you are such a good judge of what is and what is not Mike Vick’s real feelings and know so much about him that you didn’t advise him a couple of years ago that dog fighting was a bad idea. What the heck do you think he’s going to say when asked about this chance: The fat head coach standing on the side is worried about his job so he decided to sell his quarterback (Kolb) down the river. No wonder McNabb was always looking over his shoulder. Sell-out Andy was always there.

Vick is playing better now then he ever did as an Atlanta Falcon.
His speed is back. And his throwing is more accurate and better timed.
He’s just flat-out a better QB now than he’s ever been before. They say in Philly that he’s been putting in the hard work: coming early, leaving late, getting his body in better shape, studying film, working with coaches; in short, all the things he never did in Atlanta.
I was glad when Vick left Atlanta. He was bad news, a quitter, undisciplined, hung out with a bad crew.
But I’m equally glad to see an apparently humbled and hard-working man making the most out of his second chance.
I hate to admit it, but I’m rooting for the guy.

I have mixed feelings. If you stop and think about what really went down on the dog farm, it chills. If you stop and think about how he screwed the Falcons as an organization and Blank as a man you have to be suspect. However, he sat in jail as he went from $100m man to probably broke or worse and it really does seem like this rocked him to the core and he is essentially a changed man. He did the crime and he did the time, so, part of me is def rooting for him.

Count_schemula, Vick is not broke, he hid enough money before he filed for bankruptcy to last a while. His creditors however, are out of a lot of money that will never be paid back by Vick, no matter how much he makes in the future. If he is so broke, maybe he can take those earrings out and sell them, since he is such a changed man he certainly doesn’t need those anymore, since he has learned what is important in life. He might also want to think about marrying the mother of his children if he is turning his life around. Just a thought.

Sociopaths are beings without empathy, without ethics, without morals, without guilt, without a soul.
Sociopaths find joy in the pain (emotional, physical, sexual) of other living beings.
Vick killed animals who would not fight for him in a pit, and he hanged them, electrocuted them, shot them, beat them with a crowbar, bashed their heads in with a cinder block, and most disturbingly, used his 200lb muscular frame to hold a 75lb dog’s head under water to drown them.
And he inflicted all of this pain and anguish and death while smiling and laughing and cutting up with Q and Marcus whomever else.
THESE ARE THE ACTS OF A SOCIOPATH.
A sociopath has only one true emotion, one true need – SELF PRESERVATION.
They will lie, cheat, kill, do whatever it takes to survive. They will sublimate their ego. They will appear contrite even though they are incapable of feeling contrition. They will do all of the emotional queues needed to fool all of the soft-headed bleeding hearts, all to get what they want and need to survive.
Congratulations, Mark. You and others have been taken in by a narcissistic sociopath.
The “black American enablers” (as Jason Whitlock calls them) just love this man because he can run fast, and although they should be ashamed, they never will be. These are the Al Sharptons and Jesse Jacksons of the world. They’ll never be a positive force for good.
But you Mark, you’re supposed to be smarter than to fall for this con game.
I hope every time you’re standing in front of this man, you imagine him in the dirt, using his whole body to pin and hold the head of a pit bull too meek to kill for his entertainment under water to drown it, laughing and joking with Q about how hard the animal fights back to live.
I want you to think of that, and this sick, twisted, EVIL man you’ve let con you.
He has evil in his heart, Mark. People like this, people who are sociopaths, DON’T CHANGE.
They simply adapt and survive.

His creditors were stupid businessmen. They loaned a QB money to open a wine store and a car rental business. That’s stupid. If he don’t like baby momma, he should not have to marry baby momma. I have not heard anywhere that he is not taking care of his kids, and you know that would be sports page 1 in Philly.. His sense of style is his thing. Athletes are coddled as they rape and beat azz and cheat classes from high school on. Nothing new there. If you like sports, you accept these things, within reason. If we didn’t there would be no sports. Bankers rape and cheated classes too. The only reason they did not beat azz is because they couldn’t. Humanity is some nasty shizz.

This is all about racism on some of these posts, you have guys still running around America black & white that have actually been involved with the death of a human being, yet are out on parole. Why do any sports fan that really enjoys any sports bring up mostly negative things about black athletes, I will tell you why it’s the way they were raised, as racists.
That same old mentality that held true during the 50s & 60s pre civil rights is prevalent now. The tasteless headline “Top Dog” is playing the race card. I turns my stomach to know that after serving my country, during the Panama conflict & the first Desert Storm, that people are such dimwits. My thing is you have the right to say what you want, but don’t let color be the first thing out your mouth. The NFLs Paul Horning & Alex Karras were way out of line yet, still went on to have very successful outside careers after their debacle with no backlash.

I do, however, believe he was made an example of. He gets 2 years for killing dogs, and Donte Stallworth gets what, 90 days, for killing another human being? Unreal!!
Anyway, good luck to Mike Vick. I hope he has learned from his mistakes

The best take on this decision by Andy Reid that I’ve seen so far came from Clark Judge at cbssports.com. I’m on my phone right now so I’m not going to bother linking it, but basically he says this decision is the best thing that could have happened to Kolb; if he had been handed the job back and played poorly, the notoriously tough Eagles fans may have turned on him and shattered his confidence in the long term. In effect, Reid is shifting the pressure from the inexperienced Kolb to the veteran Vick and himself. I can see why Kolb appears as a sympathetic figure here, but I think this will benefit him in the long run.

Well Mike was the coach killer…..didn’t show up on time for practice…he like to party way too much, didn’t apply himself at learning the playbook, or the defensive schemes.
Today Mike is most likely a different person….. He has to grow up the hard way by falling on his face.
I wish him success, cause he will have to earn it now the hard way with work and dedication…..he is talented no doubt, but as he gets older the talent will not be enough, especially if he wants the Big Prize !

Reid is paid to win. If he thinks he can win with Vick, that’s what he thinks. I have not seen any post prison Vick game video I doubt he’s still the fastest and quickest man in the NFL, so, it would not surprise me if he was a better “quarterback” now, than he was in Atlanta. Yeah, Vick killed dogs and miraculously found god. He’s not the first and he won’t be the last. It only matters if he truly realizes that this is an opportunity and that he feels blessed over it because, in prison, when he was crying himself to sleep, and make no mistake, this man cried in prison, he knew it was over. I don’t really know why so many of you think he should have gotten a job moving furniture after he got out of prison.

Dogfightting originated in America in 1817, but the first known civilization to do it was China. The United Kennel Club was the first to sanction fighting & even hired referees. Kolb will be fine, it did hurt Billy Kilmer to be benched. It did not destroy Bart Starr. It didn’t crush Jeff Hostetler. It saved Steve Young from himself. Did it make Roger Staubach crawl into a hole and give up? Did Unitas turn and high tail it when Shula benched him? If he’s a man, he’ll dust himself off and realize anything is possible. He’s got a living example in the same lockeroom.

Go Mike Vick. I hate what you did, but you paid a heavy price and I’m truly rooting for you to succeed and believe you have learned your lesson. Don’t let the hypocritical hatred of a bunch of people who hate on you during the week, then spend their weekends in a treestand blasting away at Bambi get to you.
I’m now rooting for the Falcons and Eagles to win SB’s.

I just don’t get it…..Really. I should idolize Warrick Dunn. A great player and even greater person, but since I am a backwards, idiotic, demanding entitlement retard, I will still idolize Vick and wear his jersey to home games. I justify this by blaming the Falcons and not seeing the truth….Mike Vick is a bad person.

Did you even get kissed afterward? I for one do not have a problem with him being given another chance and I am happy for him. He paid his debt and he lost alot. I hope he is successful unless he plays the Falcons. But do not for one minute paint Falcons fans, Arthur Blank or the city of Atlanta as the bad guys here. That falls squarely on Mike. here is the truth..had the Prosecutors not had Vick on VIDEO approving, smiling and laughing while dogs were being executed and drowned, Vick’s defense would have denied the whole d@mn thing and Vick would have been sorry for nothing and not even blinked an eye about any of it. What can you do when they have the proof on video. Lowest of lows in life are animal and child abusers and to laugh and think it is funny on top of it. Demonized worship at its finest. Sickening. You want to know why the Defense pled guilty and Vick went on to jail to serve his time with no arugument, that was why. You people can praise this cr@p until the cows come home, I curse the Eagles.

The Mike Vick I remember started his career on top of the world, took it for granted and didn’t care what was left in his own wake. He also didn’t work hard and the results showed on the field with bad qb play.
He might do well initially as the starter in Philly, but comfortability will breed content.
He will revert back the poor qb he was… it’s just a matter of time.

Good job, Mark. Its funny how the major national sports media is criticizing Vick right now, now that he is seeing success again. That is basically a confession that they are doing it for attention, because they know it is a polarizing issue. It is quite a set of values we have adopted in this country. High profile athletes/entertainers deal drugs, rape women, and even are involved in homicides. What happens? They continue to perform/play without challenge. A man kills some dogs (yes it is a terrible and sick thing), PETA gets involved, the media plays along and we put a man in federal prison pay the bill and demonize him as a “hitler”????? Get real people. We have lost our way and real thugs keep walking the sidelines and shooting commercials every day!

I’m not even a football fan, but I am a born and bred Georgia native, who will be watching EVERY game that Michael Vick plays. I believe in forgiveness and a second chance, so therefore he gets my vote. Those of you who wish him such things as his legs broken, being run over in the streets etc., are only putting bad karma in your own lives. It was horrible what he did to the DOGS, but it was equally as horrible what ole massa did to Black human beings hundreds of years ago, but that was so long ago, it should have been forgotten by now…yeah right. Were they con artists, sociopaths, or the like? I think not! A dark-skinned human being being owned by a white human being, being hung from trees, tied and drug by horses, beaten daily…and they were people. The people responsible may no longer be alive, but their ancestors and the hateful mentality IS! All that needed to be said, just so some of you wouldn’t forget that we were treated WORSE than dogs, but we forgave and moved on!!! Give this man a chance–God did.

You know the funniest thing is all the people on here feel Vick should be never let out of jail, or never allowed back in the league, comparing him to Hitler. It really doesnt matter because the bottom line is he is back and he will show to the world why he is the most potent QB to ever step on a football field!! You couldnt dream of a machine like Vick who could very well rush for a 1000 yards and pass for 3500 yards in the same year. With this Philly team he can do it. And when we play them you think he showed out on us in the dome you wait and see him now that he has his legs and the playbook down. haa

WOW, it is so amazing to see the hate that many have toward this man who paid his dues to society!!! LOST his 100M contract and almost two years in jail for what was orginally a misdemeanor in this state. There are sports figures who have killed while drunk driving and repeated incidents of suspected rape but they all had easier response from media the Atlanta sport fan!!! Vick has worked hard both on the feild and off, so I won’t judge him. I wish him the best!!! For those vick lickers who are STILL MESMORIZED BY VICKS TALENTS, the media is still following Vick around like its a circus or a carnival atmosphere. Why the media continues to worship vick is something i will never understand. Sure I’m glad Vick is the starter because it was clear to me that Vick was the best qb that Philly currently had so vick deserved the starting nod over Kolb. There ws no brainer there. What i still fail to understand and realize is that the quarterback who got passed over for Vick while Vick was here in Atlanta (Matt Schaub) is quietly accelerating his play and becoming the BEST QUARTERBACK IN THE LEAGUE. Want proof? The last two games for mighty Matt Shaub, Shaubie has thown for league high totals two weeks in a row for a whopping 497 and 462 yards respectively. Right now Matt Schaub is the best quarterback in the league but it looks like Mike Vick has stolen the spotlight with his electrifying all-around play at the quarterback position. Matt Schaub was the guy atlanta should have started at quarterback when he was here. I think had the Falcons done that, they would have been superbowl champs by now and certainly before the Saints were crowned last year. Oh well, hindsight is always 20-20.

I’m glad for Vick, being a man who understand the importance of second chances I salute Michael Vick for his hard work and his apparent humility.
Life’s hardknocks have ways to change a man’s heart from incorrigible to corrigible. A broken arrow in the hand of God is more potently purposeful than an unbroken arrow in the hand of man.
I pray Michael Vick utilize this great opportunity to honour the Lord Jesus Christ for a new lease in life. A new leaf full of green everglade turning Vick’s past pages to brighter tomorrows.
However MV7, when you meet up with the Falcons, their defensive’s talons will claw you to a standstill. Hopefully the Falcons overmatch you for a victory. Good fortunes MV7, GIVE THE LORD JESUS CHRIST ALL THE GLORY.

This is great. A few years ago, when Matt Shaub had a great pre-season, all the know-it-not-so-much “experts” were talking about how crazy it was to contemplate starting Shaub and ditching Vick. Excluding Vick’s run-in with morality, look whose stats are rocking and who is still just fun to watch. Shaub is an outstanding pro QB like many of us thought and all the pundits who said we were off our rockers owe us some eaten crow. BTW, where would the Falcons be with Shaub and the multiple draft picks we could have had for the first pcik we used on Ryan (not knocking Ryan)?

Everyone deserves a second chance and a shot at redemption if they have done their duty and paid for their mistakes. The law is what it is. The level of severity of the crime dictated the sentance and he has served that sentence. He truly appears to have “learned his lessons” and there is no doubt about his talent on the football field.
I don’t begrudge his success and hope it ocntinues. I may sound like a Vick fan, and I once was. I can never feel the way I once felt about him. But I believe in redemption and I think he deserves the opportunities he has earned.
That said, Andy Reid is taking a huge risk that could backfire if Vick struggles.

I wish that events could have transpired in the opposite order. I wish that the Eagles had drafted MV7 and that he had screwed-up there, then be granted a second chance by the Falcons. Then we would have, potentially, on of the best QB’s in the league.
There is so much venom for this young man. I agree that what he did was wrong, but I believe in God and the bible teaches that God will forgive and that all of the angels in heaven rejoice at a repentant soul. Are we not made in the image of God, so why is it so hard for us to forgive?
Let’s let his actions speak for him, and so far, except for a party that got out of had – through no “proven” fault of his own, he has lived an exemplary life – to say nothing of his performance on the gridiron.
Let us do unto MV7 as we would have others do unto us after we have made a mistake. I personally, only wish him well.
GO FALCONS!!!

BigDawg……I hate to bring religion into a sports blog. But on THIS ocassion I will. God has dominion over ALL things. He can see all, be all, and do ALL. You assume he can’t watch over Afghanistan and The Middle East, while at the same time watch over US as well? He can even watch over a football player as well. Whether you like it or not, God is in ALL THINGS. You are a sad individual if you are that narrow minded. Don’t put YOUR limitations or your inability to multi-task on God. At the same time, don’t assume that because maybe YOU don’t have the ability or willingness to change, that Mike Vick can’t transform as a person. Sit back and relax and enjoy the Michael Vick EXPERIENCE. I happen to be a person who believes in redemption. I think you will believe TOO. In time………………………

Wow. Lots of ignorance on here. Go figure. For those of you shouting “he hasn’t changed,” here’s a clue: If you spend less energy talking about the spec in Vick’s eye, you might have the energy to remove the plank from your own. No matter how righteous your blogging makes you feel, we’ve ALL got dirt to be dealt with. Your dirt, in spite of your delusion, isn’t any cleaner than his. Don’t be surprised if the same redemption you deny Vick will be denied you WHEN your own wrong is revealed. You’re prisoner to some kind of hate that I don’t even want to fathom. Get free…it feels good.

Michael Vick had everything he could imagine, including the protection of his midget league coach, high school coach, Beamer enabler and finally owner Blank. Each failed him by not requiring him to own up to his thug behavior and change. It doesn’t matter to me if he is successful or not, i have recognized him for the miscreant he is.

bigdawg – “If there were a god, I’d hope he’s more concerned with Afghanistan and the Middle East than a friggin’ football player!”
Why must you place your quite significant limitations on the Creator? He’s omnipotent, omnipresent, and omniscient, among other qualities you can’t possibly comprehend. God is PERFECTLY capable of maintaining His concentration on an innumerable amount of situations, including Michael Vick’s station in life, without being distacted from the Middle East, Afghanistan, or even you.

Yes, Vick killed dogs. He’s an ex-con. There’s no excuse for what he did, however, it takes an idiot to compare him to osama bin laden and hitler. With all of the crazy things happening in the NFL, the Ray Lewis thing, Big Ben forcing his will on young girls and the list goes on. What Vick did pales in comparison. Dogs have been fought since the beginning of their existence, how many people do you know who’s been sentence to a jail term? Right. Nobody. Vick was a cock-sure, over confident, mega-millionaire and the authorities were licking their chops to know him off his perch. They succeeded, but, now he’s back and you big Vick hating cry babies can only watch him as he soar like a bird. Only this time he will be an Eagle, not a Falcon.

Some people are commenting to let God out of sports and “if there is a God”. There is always someone trying to kick God out of everything,….but sorry, he isn’t going anywhere!! God is interested in all aspects of a person’s life, whether it be in Afghanistan or in the NFL. It’s the person’s character God wants to build, no matter what their job might be. I hate what Vick and his “friends” did to those dogs and, as an Eagles fan, I am not too happy he is our QB because he is only one bad move away from being suspended or expelled from the league. However, in his personal life, I hope he is truly humbled and that his life changes for the best. If he feels that God gave him a second chance, those do not believe in God have no argument against that sentiment.

Mike Vick is playing football better than ANYONE in the league right now. This week, Vick SHOULD be rewarded with PLAYER OF THE WEEK HONORS, if Michael is treated fairly. Vick dominated the game against the Jags by accounting for ALL OF THE EAGLES POINTS. Now that’s producing 100% of the teams points (totally unprecedented and rare to see). I realize Andy Reid’s plan may backfire, but if it doesnt, Vick will be the MVP of the league and will also win superbowl MVP honors if Vick leads the Eagles to the title. Last year, Vick was just an afterthought and had little impact upon the Eagles. This season, since Vick has been crowned KING in Philly, Vick has led the Eagles more impressively than anything Ive ever seen. When Vick puts on his cape to start a game in Philly, Vick suddenly gives his team the MICHAEL VICK EXPERIENCE once again, just like that great commercial Vick did for NIKE before he got busted after the dogs had been turned loose on each other. Vick is playing sick right now and its the most amazing comeback story Ive ever seen. To say Vick is playing out of his mind is an understatement. If Vick can keep this up, Vick may in fact redeem himself and put himself back on track to take his place in Canton, Ohio once his playing days are through.

Hey Mark, one of you guys shouold write about the fact that there are NO Atlanta Falcons in the NFL Hall of Fame. Falcons have been around for almost 50 years! None! The 2 listed on the HOF site were Falcons very briefly (neither of them bolded as being their main team).
Check out http://www.profootballhof.com/hof/teams.aspx
What about top 10 all time tackles leader Jessie Tuggle, or perenial All-Pro center Jeff Van Note or amazing QB surrounded by bad teams, Steve Bartkowski? Even returner Billy “White Shoes” Johnson, 17 year player Mike Kenn or All-Decade Team for the 1960s, Tommy Nobis. This is a travesty to me. For crying out loud, Rickey Jackson, linebacker for the Saints and Russ Grimm of the Redskins were just put in. Decent players, but look at the Falcons list above!

Vick will be the first former falcon HOF’er, but only if Vick continues his scintilating, electrifying, unprecedented, stupyfiying incredible superman impersonation. When Vick takes off when he drops back you almost get the impression that if Vick wanted to he could lift off the ground and fly into the end zone like the fastest 747 commercial airline jet. I’M SO GLAD THAT COMMISSIONER GODDELL GAVE VICK A SECOND CHANCE BECAUSE VICK IS TREATING ALL OF HIS FANS AND THE REST OF THE WORLD POPULATION TO AN INCREDIBLE TREAT OF SPECTACULAR PLAY THE LIKES OF WHICH NO ONE HAS EVER SEEN BEFORE. Vick has become incredible once again and I’m sure if Vick keeps this up, Vick may have to get fitted for his world championship ring soon. Bow Wow, What a Story!!!! Its sickening, Vick as electrifying as lightning striking. Unbelievable. This guy was lower than dirt just a few weeks ago when one of Vicks co-defendents Quantis Phillips got shot outside of Vicks home. The media tried to crucify Vick and blame Vick for the shooting. What if Vick had gotten kicked out of the league before he had a chance to start for the Eagles. The fans would have missed out on this incredible treat that Vick has given anyone who watches him. Vicks name will be synonamous with EXCELLENCE once again if Vick can keep this up for about 17 more weeks through Superbowl Sunday. What a story!!! Just recently there were a few misguided souls who were saying “Vick is a gimick for the Eagles and his production is completely and totally non-existent. What are those souls saying now, now that Vick is outperforming every quarterback in the association. I am just flabergasted I just cannot believe it.

I dont curse the eagles at all for bringing in MV7. Most fans REMEMBER HOW EXCITING VICK WAS BEFORE HE GOT BUSTED FOR DOGFIGHTING. Many fans, however, were wishing the worst for Vick and were hoping Vick would get cut by the Eagles and be forced to retire. Instead, as the fickled feat of faith would have it, VICK STEPPED INTO THE HUDDLE AS COMMANDER AND CHIEF of the Eagles football team, now a much better qb than ever before. Vick is making such good throws that ALL THE FOOTBALL EXPERTS ARE NOW PRAISING HIS GLORY. All Hail to Michael Vick!!!!! All Hail to Michael Vick!!!! All Hail to the King of Tricks.

I’m through bringing up Mike Vick. The only thing I want answered is “What if Mike Vick is so good this year that he wins the trifecta of the NFL. #1:WINS LEAGUE MVP; #2:WINS THE SUPERBOWL (NOW HAS A WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP RING); #3:WINS MVP PLAYER IN THE SUPERBOWL. If Vick accomplishes all that this year, will the naysayers still say that Ryan is better than Vick?

My company moved Mike Vick and before the move I am not sure how I felt. After moving him I couldn’t have respected him more. The man made a mistake like 99.99999% of the people on this blog. You just don’t matter so nobody knows or cares about your mistakes. Everybody needs forgiveness and a second chance. If you can’t forgive someone how can you expect to be forgiven? It is a spiritual fact that you must forgive if you want to be forgiven. Such an easy concept that sadly so many people miss. http://www.gapackandload.com

Vick made some big time mistakes and he paid for it BIG TIME. Is it what everyone would want – obviously not but he paid his debt and isn’t on the government payroll (something we should be happy about). Actually, we should all hope (and some of us pray) that second chances do happen and that often people make good on those opportunities. Most of the world isn’t so full of perfect people like the ones that write on the blog here and therefore have made their share of mistakes that they need to hope don’t get judged the way some here want to judge Vick. While I was not a fan of Vick’s while he was here in Atlanta I’m pulling for him to make good on this chance and give us a sports story worth reading.

Superlou: I really enjoyed your blog. You are one of the few people out there who look at mike vick objectively and realize he is playing great right now. I too like you, know how great Mike Vicks (Mike Vick Experience commercial was), that was probably the BEST commercial I have ever seen on TV. So many folks are jealous because mike is outplaying just about everyone in the NFL. Whats uniquely great about Mike Vick and what really aggravates a lot of folks is simply MIKE VICK CAN DO THINGS THAT NO ONE ELSE COULD DO NO MATTER HOW MUCH THEY TRIED. Some of mike vicks skill sets are inherently unique to him and no one else has them. I’ll give you an example. A couple of weeks ago a defender was rushing mike vick from the blind side. Mike Vick didnt see him coming but he sensed he was coming. The defender was probably less than one inch away from mike vick, about ready to sack him. Mike does a 360 degree spin peroitte, makes the defender miss, while the defender didnt touch vick at all, and the play goes from a 3rd and 15 to a first down. I dont think no one else in the history of the national football league could have done that except the GREAT MIKE VICK. That play exemplified the Mike Vick experience and it was also the game in which gave Vick the starting job. When Andy Reid rolled the tape of that game and saw it, he knew Vick had to be his starter. I also knew Vick was going to be named the starter after that game. That is what the MIKE VICK EXPERIENCE IS ALL ABOUT. Like him or hate him, Vick does things on the football gridiron that other folks wish they could do.

I’ll bet most of the NFL owners who PASSED on mike vick are kicking themselves NOW. I’m sure they didnt think Vick would not only regain his form he had as falcons quarterback, but he would be better than ever and surpass that form to now be one of the best qbs in the game. I’m sure most of the coaches and owners didnt believe Vick had what it took to withstand all the ridicule and humiliation and perform like a professional NFL starting quarterback. Now Vick will do the impossible and surge his career forward and take a quantum leap by using the remainder of his career to carve out a HALL OF FAME CAREER. I’m sure Mike Vick will make the HOF regardless of people may think. I will never doubt Mike Vick again because he is performing on the football field now like no one else has or no one else can. MIKE VICK IS BACK FOR GOOD. Thank goodness. I’ll bet Andy Reid feels awefully lucky that he took a chance on Mike Vick. That chance is going to pay off big time particularly if Vick guides the Eagles to a superbowl Vick-tory.

I realize that the media is criticizing mike vick. I think its totally unfair how vick is being treated in the media. Vick has had three spectacular games in a row and Vick has received virtually no recognition for that at all. Had it been Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Brett Farve either one of those QBS would have been “PLAYER OF THE WEEK”. Since Vick has had a checkered past and has gotten into trouble for dogfighting, Vick won’t get the recognition now that he is performing better than any qb in the league. Its totally unfair but hopefully he’ll break through eventually and the league will give him his due. In Philly, when Vick was appointed the starter, in the Philly Examiner the cover page read—-TOP DOG, with that reference coming from his dogfighting days. Instead of that hideous title it should have read, “MEET THE EAGLES NEW STARTING QUARTERBACK, MIKE VICK”. That would have been more appropriate, but the negative words were done to disparage Vick. If Vick goes out this Sunday and throws for 500 yards and rushes for 200 more, accounting for 7 touchdowns, Vick still wont win the NFL player of week award. Its unfair but I dont care because I’ll still watching Mike Vick because he is playing spectacular football and I want to see Vick continue to dominate the league.

Ryan: I think you are missing the boat with Mike Vick. Ive listened to ESPN sports experts these last three weeks and they are saying that Mike Vick is playing some of the best quarterbacking in the league. I’m sure Vick has deserved to be player of the week. Most people are ignoring Vick’s accomplishing because they are looking at Vick as though he is Charles Manson at the quarterback position. VICK HAS PAID HIS DEBTS TO SOCIETY AND NOW HE IS BACK TO BEING ONE OF THE TOP 5 ELITE QUARTERBACKS IN THE LEAGUE. Those are the facts whether or not you are willing to accept them.

I say that Vick is hated so much by media in the sports world that if Vick threw for 1000 yards in a game and rushed for another 500 yards, threw for 9 tds and rushed for another 6, allowing the Eaglues to win their game 105-14, VICK STILL WOULD NOT WIN PLAYER OF THE WEEK because he is looked at as a serial killer of dogs and that label he will not be able to shake regardless of what he does. Its total, categorically UNFAIR and UNJUST. This man (part animal) Mike Vick is SINGLEHANDEDLY DESTROYING THE NATIONAL FOOTBALL LEAGUE and people are treating him as if he is either a HOMELESS BUM or a serial killler on DEATH ROW.

I heard on ESPN recently where the Eagles traded away Donovan McNabb because they wanted to clear McNabbs expensive contract and replace it with a cheaper contract in Vick, once Vick gets up to speed and performs like one of the premier qbs in the game. MISSION ACCOMPLISHED. Vick currently is the best qb in the league and is outperforming everyone in the league by a country mile. Congrats Mike Vick for coming all the way back, rehabilitating yourself with hard work, dedication and srong performances on the grid iron and climbing the mountain all the way to the top.
