Playgirl wants Vick to apologize to dogs by … posing nude?
According to Life & Style Magazine — a publication with which I’m unfamiliar, perhaps because I have neither a life nor a style — Playgirl has offered Michael Vick $1 million to pose unclad. But if you’re thinking the overture might be a tad tawdry … no worries! The million dollars will go to PETA!
Understand: This wouldn’t be one of those “I’d-rather-go-naked-than-wear-fur” ads for which celebs have posed. (One of them being Falcons tight end Tony Gonzalez. Another being, interestingly enough, Wizards guard Gilbert Arenas, who has been suspended from the NBA for being overfamiliar with guns, none of which apparently were used to hunt animals.) The results of any Vick disrobing would run in Playgirl, which would then donate the money to PETA.
According to Life & Style, a Playgirl spokesperson said: “I sent the request to Michael Vick on Wednesday. But we haven’t heard back yet. I figured he paid back society for dogfighting, but what about the animals? This way he could donate a large sum to PETA and all he’d have to do is pose for the magazine! It’s kind of a win-win situation.”
That makes complete sense, doesn’t it? Because, when we get right down to it, does anything say “I’m sorry” like professionally photographed nudity?
I know. It’s crazy. It’s a bad enough idea — just as Vick is trying to reclaim his dignity, let’s have him strip down and forfeit it again — to be one of PETA’s. (You’ll recall that crusading organization wanted to replace Georgia’s live Uga with an “animatronic” dog.) But this wasn’t PETA’s, apparently. This was Playgirl’s. Which would presumably profit from Vick’s appearance in its pages. So there you have it.

I think instead of PETA they should give the money to dog town for taking all of those dogs in and trying to rehabilitate them and to the ASPCA who actually make a diffferece. If it were up to PETA all of those dogs would have just been put out of their “misery”.

If Vick is comfortable with a discreet-enough photo, somewhat along the lines of TG’s (i.e. no groin shots), and Goodell has no objection, and his mentors (Dungy & McNabb) see no harm in it, I see no reason why he shouldn’t do it. he should touch all his bases, talk to all the right people, and if he wants to do it—a million dollars would help a lot of animals—he should go for it.

Yes, he is the one who got caught. But my point is that Michael getting caught has done more to discourage dog fighting than anything else in the history of dog fighting (which dates all the way back to the days of slavery).
And yes, I am a big fan of Vick. He made some stupid mistakes in his life and he paid the price for those mistakes. If he continues on the path that he is currently on, then I wish him the best during the remainder of his career and life. If he drifts back into the dark side, then I will wash my hands of him once and for all. By all indications, Michael is trying to rehabilitate himself and his image an doing a good job of it as of right now.
As for the Falcons organization, there is a lot that the average fan doesn’t realize. I can tell you that without a shadow of doubt many of the “Falcons Brass” knew exactly what Michael as well as many of the other players did during their spare time. As bad as that whole thing looked to the Falcons organization, it could have been much worse.
Whether or not Matt Ryan is a better qb than Michael remains to be seen. He definitely does not sell as many jerseys nor has he single handily sold out games. If you look at Michael’s career when he had a good supporting cast, he had a very good winning percentage. It’s not his fault that they had a bunch of high school wide receivers during his last 2-3 years.

I support Vick as a person and his efforts to rebuild his name. He made a mistake, just as many people do in life, got caught, paid his price. Since then, everybody that learned how to read three and four letter words have tried to take what he says out of context. He did not say anything negative about the falcons. He said he understands he could have tried harder. Im positive working next to Donovan Mcnabb lets you see your flaws. He’s learning, and apparently learning is discouraged now by society. Just to add some weight to my statement… according to the wiki, in 2003, two different Playgirl execs stated that 30 percent and 50 percent of of Playgirl’s readership was gay men (their stats differed). OH MY…..What A Surprise….another article about Michael Vick by Bradley or Schultz…….NOT!!!! It’s too bad that the AJC can afford and/or hire decent sports writers instead of ones that continue to write about the same old #$@# week after week.
The sports articles written for the Bird Cage (i.e., D3) that are posted online are better than the rehash coming from the fab two. At least D-Led appears to have moved on from the constant Vick coverage. As earlier bloggers have said…..over and over again….Michael Vick plays for the Philadelphia Eagles and is no longer living or playing in the ATL so let it go. P-L-E-A-S-E!!!

Playgirl has recently featured Levi Johnston, the biological father of Sarah Palin’s grandson.
I think these issues tend to become collector’s items. I still have the November 1987 copy of Playboy featuring Jessica Hahn “Born Again: In Words and Pictures.” It’s in excellent condition. Then again, I am gay.

I don’t believe that Vick should pose for Playgirl. He’s paid a lot more for his crime than anyone else would have for the same offense. Leave him, and his family, be!

Mark this article is a bit misleading. PETA simply suggested that UGA should either go back to traditional standards for their English Bulldog rather than the current obese one that makes the breed much more likely to suffer heart failure (and then WHAM…UGA lost another UGA even Nostradamus couldn’t have made a more timely forecast). PETA only has the animals welfare in concern and can be a bit crazy but they also are responsible for saving endangered species and helping to make public awareness of dog fighting in this nation.
For a million dollars my clothes would be shed! We are born that way and typically get way too uptight whenever a boob makes an appearance!

I’ve never heard of any time where a woman disrobing in a reputable magazine was thought of as a loss of dignity, so why should it be so for a man?
Here’s a quick exercise. Let’s see a show of hands from those who believe a nude spread of Tiger’s wife in Playgirl to help with legal fees” would be a loss of dignity such that you wouldn’t spread apart the pages to have a look?
Yeah, that’s what I thought. Loss of dignity..meh.
Playgirl isn’t for you Mr. Bradley, it’s not for the rest of the guys commenting here. It’s for women(ok and for gay/bi guys whatever) if there is a market for it, so be it. Just because something doesn’t appeal to you doesn’t make it wrong.
PETA could use the money so the least you could do Mr. Bradley besides gag at the idea is to encourage your readers to donate. There are naked women or half naked women running around charity events all the time and I bet you don’t look at them and see a loss of dignity. It’s 2010, men pose nude now, get over it.

PETA and all of these animal rights folks are crazy. Vick has paid his debt for some damn dogs. Why would he,in his right mind humiliate himself, posing naked, to give a million dollars away for animals.He has given enough of his money and life, for his crime. I’m so sick of these white folks trying to crucify every black man that commits a minor crime. This man paid his dues for the incident that happened on his property and from some reports he wasn’t even there. Let the man alone. They were a bunch of damn dogs. When white men go out hunting, shooting birds, and other animals is that not harming animals. They act like a damn animal is more important than human life.
