File this one under Silly Season Speculation, but I present it in the interest of keeping you, dear readers, fully informed. And that’s why I’m here! To serve! To bring every noteworthy nugget to you who Need To Know!
OK, where was I?
Oh, yeah. From the Rumor Central of ESPN.com’s Insiders comes this: “TTU job a stepping stone for Tuberville?” (Link requires registration.) And you’ll never guess where those presumed stones are said to lead.
For your edification, I present the item in its entirety:
“Will Tommy Tuberville retire at Texas Tech? Kirk Bohls of the Austin American-Statesman sure doesn’t think so. Tuberville has yet to sign his contract, and the buyout he has to pay if he were to break his contract isn’t high enough — in Bohls’ opinion, anyway.
“[Writes Bohls:] ‘Personally, I would have had Tuberville agree to a larger buyout. After all, he probably would be the Tennessee coach if he had waited a week instead of saying yes to Texas Tech.’
“Tuberville seems very happy to be at Tech and to be coaching again. But you do have to wonder, if he has success in Lubbock and a lucrative SEC job were to open up in the next couple of seasons, whether he’d be able to turn that offer down. Disgruntled LSU and Georgia fans might have to start paying the Red Raiders a little more attention.”
Well, now. That’s a mighty big leap from a mighty small item in Mr. Bohls’ column, but it does illustrate … something. We all know that Tuberville enjoys being courted — ask Ole Miss fans, or Auburn fans, or Arkansas fans — but it wasn’t long ago that Georgia could never been included in any discussion of a school that might soon be seeking a new coach.
But I should stipulate that any disgruntlement with Mark Richt has eased. Most UGA fans are excited about Todd Grantham as defensive coordinator — some weren’t happy with the search, but they’ll get over that if Grantham delivers — and they’ll get excited again on Signing Day. The heat on Miles, who infamously blew the Ole Miss game, is much higher than on Richt. (LSU fans are going nuts over Nick Saban winning big at Alabama.)
No, this isn’t your father’s SEC, or even your uncle’s. Phillip Fulmer was gone from Tennessee a year after playing for the conference title. Tuberville himself was out at Auburn two seasons after going 11-2. Things can happen quickly, sure. That said …
I don’t see any way Georgia is looking for a coach next December. LSU, maybe. Not UGA.
(P.S. I do think Mr. Bohls — nice guy, good writer — has it right when he says Tuberville would be sitting in Knoxville today if he’d waited a week. Which would mean Tuberville would have coached three different SEC schools, which I don’t think anyone has ever done. Though Bobby Petrino will give it a go.)

Why Gators Will Be Worse in 2010
Idiots like you are why UGA is in the situation they find themselves. Losing 5 from defense, no quarterback with any snaps, 5th choice as DC and delusional about what is going on in Gainesville. 2010= continuation of domination by UF, just like in basketball.

THat’s 6 all-americans on this Georgia team right now if you add in the 3 guys from 2010: Ogletree, Mason, and Rogers.

That’s a total of 9 Parade All-Amercians on this team from 2008-2010 Parade All Americans. 7 on offense, 2 on defense.

What happened with 9 of the top 50 players? We’ll know at the end of this coming season when 8 should be on the field. Mason might red shirt. These 9 have never been on the field together. 3 from 2007, 3 from 2008, and now 3 more this season will be joining the team. Murray and Mason havn’t played yet, niether has Rogers. AJ Green is developing nicely and Ealey is already performing well.

Richt’s tenure is very questionable because of the past month in Gainesville, Florida. Urban back in the saddle with the highest-rated recruiting class in history. How will Mark R. ever beat a renewed Urban, who now will have more talent? Perhaps only if UGA can convince the Gators to move the game from Jacksonville — so it is played in Athens EVERY year!

Florida’s defense got MUCH worse once Charlie Strong left. Edwards was ranked #24 in defensive scoring and #18 aganst the run. He has a losing season 10 out of 13 seasons and helped the INFAMOUS Miami Dolphins go 1-15 in 2007. Florida lost 6 starters on defense.
Georgia got Grantham, the guy Saban tried to hire for DC, the guy who had the #2 ranked defensive scoring team, #4 against the run.
Florida also lost 5 offensive starters, and 4 coaches.
That’s why Florida will go 5-3 in the SEC, like they do 40% of Meyer’s years anyways.
Florida will lose to:
Bama, Georgia, LSU
If Florida could NOT beat a top 10 team last year with 22 starters returning, and Strong as the DC, just IMAGINE how bad they will be this year with ONLY 11 starters returning, 4 coaches who quit the team, and George Edwards running the defense.

I repeat, the job ain’t open. These folks asking for Coach Richt’s scalp obviously are delusional. It is just as clear they would have fired Vince Dooley before he won his one NC some 17 years into the job. What are they thinking? Fortunately, these bozos are not running the athletic department. Of course, they’re probably not running any department.

What this guy is saying is that UGA fans are known for their complaining. Dawgs never understand how their 5 stars fail to perform but its their tradition. The real question is why this would apply to LSU which has had success.

Right on track and confirms my years of statements that CMR will be gone by 2012 or sooner. UGA just does not get it, but give CMR and extension, because everyone who beats him loves him.

There are only two criteria to keep the UGA job. 1. Recruit 5 stars
2. Beat Tech. The rest dosen’t matter. Beating FL doesn’t matter as has been proven for years.

Sure, let’s can Richt and bring in Urban Meyer. And while we’re doing it, let’s hire Lane (crap-mouth, trouble making liar) Kiffin as OC and Satan (generally bad guy) as DC. That’ll make the Bulldawg nation proud.

So if we lose to Tech and win the NC, Richt is gone right? No. There are three criteria to keep the UGA job. 1)Average 10+ wins/season, 2) play in the Dome 50% of the time and win half of those, and 3) be in the NC discussions frequently which means top ten finishes frequently. Who we beat and how we get there doesn’t matter.

Another reason Richt is in trouble: One more nail in Richt’s coaching coffin. Pat Forde looked at the 2006 college recruiting classes: “Only four of ESPN’s 2006 top 25 recruiting classes were signed by teams that played in a BCS bowl four years later: Florida (No. 1), Texas (No. 3), Ohio State (No. 10) and Alabama (No. 18).
USC had the No. 2 class and just finished its worst season since 2001. Georgia was No. 4 and performed so poorly that Mark Richt had to shake up his staff and has himself edged toward the hot seat. Notre Dame was No. 5 and fired its coach. Florida State was No. 6 and got its legendary coach pushed into retirement.”

Write it down-UGA National Champs next season (with young A. Murray at QB) and Coach Richt is at UGA for life… Grantham’s 3-4 Defense will be an incredible success for UGA and the DAWGS violently dominate all opponents. Tech goes backwards and continues losing to the Bulldogs. The Jacket’s run off P. Johnson, and his funny little option, then GT tries to hire Tuberville-he says NO and Tech hires R. Ball for HC.

I remember when Fulmer had a .80 percent (approximately)winning record for a coach with over 10 years coaching (best in the nation at that time). A lot of Tennessee fans (including me) felt that Philip Fulmer should go. Mark Richt is going down that same road. I believe he will be gone in two years. He is to nice of guy to make the necessary changes at Georgia. He replaced his DC only after he was forced to.
Two years left at best.

It’s simply unfair to compare a team like Auburn, with 29 places, to Georgia’s 17.
But, if you look at the Star Power Average, Georgia is ranked #6 at 3.47 average score per recruit.

It’s simply unfair to compare 29 places that Auburn has with Georgia’s 17.
But Scout ranks the QUALITY of the 17 recruits as #6, average score of 3.61
And, the number of top 100 recruits has Georgia at #5, which is remarkable when you consinder that we are only talking about 17 spots.
