ESPN Rumor Central: Tuberville ready to move … to UGA?

File this one under Silly Season Speculation, but I present it in the interest of keeping you, dear readers, fully informed. And that’s why I’m here! To serve! To bring every noteworthy nugget to you who Need To Know!

OK, where was I?

Oh, yeah. From the Rumor Central of ESPN.com’s Insiders comes this: “TTU job a stepping stone for Tuberville?” (Link requires registration.) And you’ll never guess where those presumed stones are said to lead.

For your edification, I present the item in its entirety:

“Will Tommy Tuberville retire at Texas Tech? Kirk Bohls of the Austin American-Statesman sure doesn’t think so. Tuberville has yet to sign his contract, and the buyout he has to pay if he were to break his contract isn’t high enough — in Bohls’ opinion, anyway.

“[Writes Bohls:] ‘Personally, I would have had Tuberville agree to a larger buyout. After all, he probably would be the Tennessee coach if he had waited a week instead of saying yes to Texas Tech.’

“Tuberville seems very happy to be at Tech and to be coaching again. But you do have to wonder, if he has success in Lubbock and a lucrative SEC job were to open up in the next couple of seasons, whether he’d be able to turn that offer down. Disgruntled LSU and Georgia fans might have to start paying the Red Raiders a little more attention.”

Well, now. That’s a mighty big leap from a mighty small item in Mr. Bohls’ column, but it does illustrate … something. We all know that Tuberville enjoys being courted — ask Ole Miss fans, or Auburn fans, or Arkansas fans — but it wasn’t long ago that Georgia could never been included in any discussion of a school that might soon be seeking a new coach.

But I should stipulate that any disgruntlement with Mark Richt has eased. Most UGA fans are excited about Todd Grantham as defensive coordinator — some weren’t happy with the search, but they’ll get over that if Grantham delivers — and they’ll get excited again on Signing Day. The heat on Miles, who infamously blew the Ole Miss game, is much higher than on Richt. (LSU fans are going nuts over Nick Saban winning big at Alabama.)

No, this isn’t your father’s SEC, or even your uncle’s. Phillip Fulmer was gone from Tennessee a year after playing for the conference title. Tuberville himself was out at Auburn two seasons after going 11-2. Things can happen quickly, sure. That said …

I don’t see any way Georgia is looking for a coach next December. LSU, maybe. Not UGA.

(P.S. I do think Mr. Bohls — nice guy, good writer — has it right when he says Tuberville would be sitting in Knoxville today if he’d waited a week. Which would mean Tuberville would have coached three different SEC schools, which I don’t think anyone has ever done. Though Bobby Petrino will give it a go.)

Mark Richt may have just added the final piece of the puzzle with Grantham.I’m not talking just about the X’s and O’s but the fact that Grantham sees it like I do.Dominate the state of Georgia in recruiting and we will win multiple championships. We were at our best when most of our stars were instate kids…yeah I’m prejudiced…I admit it….but for all the BVG era blah…blah…the thing that stood out to me the most between Willie and BVG was BVG’s best players were GA kids and better players period IMO.If for some reason Richt left UGA I can’t see TT anyway shape or form..Muschamp-Why would he leave Texas? The Longhorns own the state of Texas…they can sign an entire class of blue chips the day after signing day cherry picking the best juniors instate. The Big-12 is not the SEC…he could have a much easier road to a NC at Texas.Kirby Smart? Please we still don’t know if Kirby is in charge of the Defense at BAMA let alone could he be a good HC.The former player stuff is quaint and all but Mark Richt and Vince Dooley are the best coaches UGA ever had and Neither went to school at UGA…just saying

Please stop with all the Saban-bashing, his team blew out Florida, yall should be happy! Alabama is not our rival, and we don’t even play them in 2010, so stop whining about Saban. Anyways, much easier schedule, good defensive coordinator, and better qb should make it a great 2010 season.

Who cares what joker coaches at that high school team in that small village east of Atlanta? As ugag continues to have 5 loss or more seasons, even the high school drop out fans will care not.

Edwards, Florida’s new DC, helped Miami go 1 win and 15 losses in 2007.

Edwards helped Miami rank #24 in 2009 in scoring defense and #18 against the run.

3 More Reasons WHy Grantham is the #1 C in the SEC:

1- Grantham helped the Colts for 3 years finish 10+ winning seasons back to back for the 1st time since 20 years back in 1976.

2- Grantham helped the Browns have their best season, 10-6, since 1994.

3- Grantham helped the Cowboys have their best season since 1994, where they finally got to the 2nd round of the playoffs in 2009.

Edwards, Florida’s New Defensive Coordinator, in 13 seasons in the NFL, was a part of history with the Dolphins going 1-15 in 2007.

Edwards had 3 winning seasons in his 13 years in the NFL.

2009, was one of Edawrd’s best years win/loss wise, but Miami’s defense finished #24 in scoring defense out of 28 teams.

Florida should be worried.

Gators didn’t beat a single top 10 team in 2009 with Charlie Strong and the #3 ranked defense in football and 22 starters returning.

Now, in 2010, the Gators have Edwards, who was ranked almost last in the NFL in points allowed running the defense, and only 11 starters returning and 4 new coaches.

2009 = Bad

2010 = Nightmare

All this article is doing is trying to get Mark Richt fired. This is not even a credible rumor it is some guy in Texas just shouting out suggestions. He probably has never even talked to a UGA fan so how can he claim we are getting tired of Richt. The only possible explanation for all these columns is that Mark Bradley had his dog run over by Coach Richt. Quit printing “For Sale” signs for Richt’s yard and do some actual sports writing.

in mark richt era

“Equal amount of wins as Fla, more than ALA.”

RESPONSE : EXCUSE ME BOTH FLORIDA AND LSU HAVE A BETTER RECORD THAN UGA IN THE COACH RICHT ERA, AND ALABAMA HAS NOW PASSED US TOO IN THE SEC. WE HAVE SURVIVED THE SEC, BUT IN THE COACH RICHT ERA, NO ONE WOULD SAY THAT FLORIDA, LSU AND NOW TOO ALABAMA DO NOT MAKE UGA IN THE COACH RICHT ERA, NUMBER 4. OUTSIDE THE SEC, WE ARE ALSO BEHIND OHIO STATE, TEXAS, OKLAHOMA, BOISE STATE AND SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA IN THE COACH RICHT ERA. AND, THEREFORE THE FACTS EXACTLY ARE THAT IN 0 OF THE 9 YEARS OF THE COACH RICHT ERA, HAS COACH RICHT BEEN REWARDED FOR A GREAT FOOTBALL SEASON WITH A GAME AGAINST A SINGLE MEANINGFUL FOOTBALL TEAM IN A HUGE BIG BOWL GAME. HAWAII WAS CERTAINLY POOR AT NUMBER 19 IN THE FINAL AP POLL, AND FLORIDA STATE WAS A 5-LOSS TEAM RANKED NUMBER 22 IN THE FINAL AP POLL. THESE ARE THE REWARDS FOR THE 2 BEST PERFORMANCES BY COACH RICHT IN THE COACH RICHT ERA. THE FAILINGS HAVE CLEARLY BEEN ON THE COACHING STAFF OF COACH RICHT. I AM SORRY patrick, BUT YOU ARE NOT PASSING OFF COACH RICHT AS THE BEST TEAM IN THE SEC, AS YOU HAVE DONE IN THIS POST OF YOURS TODAY. BOTH LSU AND FLORIDA HAVE DONE BETTER THAN COACH RICHT IN THE COACH RICHT ERA, AND NOW ALABAMA HAS PASSED US TO. THE MAJOR POINT ABOUT COACH RICHT IS THAT IN 9 YEARS, HE HAS A LOSING RECORD 17-19 VS FINAL AP POLL TOP 25 TEAMS WITH ANOTHER 8 LOSSES TO UNRANKED TEAMS IN THE FINAL AP POLL TOP 25. THAT IS HARDLY GREAT. AND, PARDON ME patrick BUT THE OTHER MAJOR POINT ABOUT COACH RICHT IS THAT IN NO SEASON HAS HE BEEN REWARDED WITH A GREAT BOWL GAME ON THE NATIONAL STAGE. BY THE WAY patrick HOW IS IT AGAIN THAT YOU SURMISE THAT COACH RICHT IS EQUAL TO FLORIDA AGAIN AT 2-7 ?

“Same amount of SEC titles as Fla.”

RESPONSE : LSU HAS 3 SEC CHAMPIONSHIPS IN THE COACH RICHT ERA. FLORIDA HAS 3 NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS SINCE 1996, AND UGA 0 NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS IN THE LAST 3 DECADES. IF COACH RICHT KNOCKED THE LID OFF THE UGA PROGRAM WITH THE WIN OVER THE vols IN 2001, HE HAS STEADILY DONE WORSE AND WORSE SINCE. 3 OF THE LAST 4 YEARS HAVE BEEN SUPREME POOR PERFORMANCES. patrick, DISNEYdawg, SIR WHEN COACH RICHT WON THE SEC CHAMPIONSHIP IN 2002, THE SEC WAS HORRIBLY DOWN THAT YEAR, COACH RICHT AFTER HE WENT TO JACKSONVILLE AND LOST TO FLORIDA, COACH RICHT PLAYED ARKANSAS A 5-LOSS TEAM IN THE SEC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME FOR GOD’S SAKE. THEREFORE WE PLAYED 5-LOSS FLORIDA STATE AS COACH RICHT’S REWARD FOR THAT SEASON BECAUSE IN THE FINAL COACHES’ POLL IN 2002, THERE WAS ONLY 1 OTHER SEC RANKED AT ALL; 1. AND, WHEN COACH RICHT WON THE SEC CHAMPIONSHIP IN 2005, COACH RICHT WAS LOSING 28-0 TO RICH RODRIQUEZ’ WEST VIRGINIA RIGHT AFTER WE SAT IN OUR SEATS. WE WERE NOT READY TO PLAY; I WAS THERE, AND YOU WERE NOT.

“More times ranked top ten than any SEC team”

RESPONSE : 3 OF THE LAST 4 YEARS HAVE BEEN HORRIBLE DISAPPOINTMENTS, AND THEN I READ YOUR POST patrick AND I MUST HAVE NO MEMORY WHATSOEVER. ONLY YOU HAVE A MEMORY. LET ME REFRESH IT FOR YOU.

2001: MIAMI # 1, FLORIDA # 3, vols # 4, LSU # 7, SO CAR # 13, UGA # 22.

2002: OHIO STATE # 1, MIAMI # 2, UGA # 3.

2003 : LSU # 1, USC # 2, OK # 3, OH ST # 4, MIAMI # 5, MICH # 6, UGA # 7.

2004: USC # 2, AUBURN # 2, OK # 3, UTAH # 4, TX # 5, LOUISVILLE # 6 UGA 7.

2005 : TEXAS # 1, LSU # 6, ALABAMA # 8, and UGA # 10.

2006 : FLORIDA # 1, LSU # 3, AUBURN # 9, ARKANSAS # 15, UGA # 23.

2007 : LSU # 1, UGA # 2.

2008 : FLORIDA # 1, ALABAMA # 6, UGA # 13.

2009 : ALABAMA # 1, FLORIDA # 3, LSU # 17, OLE MISS # 20, UGA # 33.

1 YEAR OF 9 IN COACH RICHT ERA WAS UGA THE TOP-RANKED SEC TEAM, ONCE, AND THAT YEAR THERE WAS ONLY 1 OTHER SEC TEAM RANKED IN THE FINAL COACHES’ POLL, ONE. IT WAS A DOWN YEAR FOR THE SEC, AS UGA HAD TO PLAY ARKANSAS IN THE SEC CHAMPIONSHIP AN UNRANKED 5-LOSS TEAM.

9 YEARS OF THE COACH RICHT ERA, COACH RICHT AVERAGE FINISH FOR THE TOP-RANKED SEC TEAMS IN THE FINAL AP POLL IS 3RD BEST IN THE SEC.

THEN, I COME IN HERE patrick AND SURMISE 3RD BEST AVERAGE FINISH IS IN FACT THE BEST. UH, NO, THAT IS A LIE.

ANOTHER LIE OF YOURS patrick IS THAT LSU HAS NOT BEEN RANKED IN THE TOP 10 MORE TIMES THAN ANY SEC TEAM IN THE COACH RICHT ERA WITH 6.

LIAR.

“4 str8 bowl wins…7-2 over all. (11 of last 13) Equal to or better than any SEC team”

IN THE COACH RICHT ERA, WE HAVE PLAYED IN 0 BIG BOWL GAMES, 0. AUBURN BEAT TOP 10 FINAL AP POLL TEAM VIRGINIA TECH # 10 IN THE SUGAR BOWL 2004; WHERE IS OUR BOWL WIN LIKE THAT ? GO AHEAD, I’LL WAIT. AUBURN HAS LOST 2 BOWL GAMES IN THE COACH RICHT ERA, THE SAME AS COACH RICHT WHO IS 0-2 VS THE BIG EAST. ALABAMA JUST BEAT TEXAS # 2 IN THE BCS CHAMPIONSHIP GAME; WHERE IS OUR BOWL WIN LIKE THAT, EITHER ? ALABAMA DOESN’T EVEN GET MENTIONED BY YOU EXCEPT THAT ALABAMA IS NOT AS GOOD AS UGA IN THE COACH RICHT ERA WHICH IS TOTAL B.S. GIVEN THE FACT THAT BY EVERYONE’S ACCOUNT UGA IS MIRED IN 4TH PLACE IN THE SEC CLEARLY ACCORDING TO EVERYONE BUT YOU, WHEN ALABAMA CLEARLY HAS SURPASSED COACH RICHT BY A LONG SHOT. FLORIDA JUST BEAT CINCINNATI # 8 FINAL AP POLL IN THE SUGAR BOWL; WHERE IS OUR BOWL WIN LIKE THAT ? FLORIDA BEAT OKLAHOMA # 5 FINAL AP POLL THE YEAR BEFORE IN THE BCS NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME 2008; WHERE IS OUR BOWL WIN LIKE THAT ? 2006 FLORIDA BEAT OHIO STATE # 2 IN THE FINAL AP POLL IN THE BCS NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME; GETTING BORED YET patrick ? WHERE IS OUR BOWL WIN LIKE THAT EITHER ? 2001 FLORIDA BEAT MARYLAND # 11 FINAL AP POLL TEAM IN THE SUGAR BOWL; COACH RICHT DOESN’T EVEN HAVE A BOWL WIN AS GOOD AS THAT, EITHER. LSU BEAT # 12 FINAL AP POLL ILLINOIS IN THE SUGAR BOWL. LSU BEAT # 3 FINAL AP POLL OKLAHOMA IN 2003 IN THE SUGAR BOWL. LSU BEAT # 17 NOTRE DAME IN THE FINAL AP POLL IN THE SUGAR BOWL ON THE NATIONAL STAGE AND COACH RICHT DOESN’T EVEN HAVE A MAJOR BOWL WIN OVER A TEAM THAT GOOD IN THE FINAL AP POLL, NOT IN 9 YEARS AND COUNTING AND CERTAINLY WILL NOT THIS SEASON EITHER – NOT WITH THIS OFFENSIVE COACHING STAFF. LSU BEAT # 5 FINAL AP POLL OHIO STATE IN THE BCS NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME IN 2007. WE DON’T MEASURE UP. AND, THEN I COME IN HERE AND UGA IS THE BEST SEC TEAM IN BOWL GAMES, B.S. WE ARE.

10 BOWL GAMES I JUST NAMED THE SEC HAS WON IN THE COACH RICHT ERA WHICH ALL 10 ARE FAR BETTER BOWL WINS THAN ANY BOWL GAME COACH RICHT HAS WON.

YOUR SUMMARY OF THAT patrick ? COACH RICHT HAS PLAYED IN 0 BIG BOWL GAMES ON THE NATIONAL STAGE WHICH HE WON, ZERO. NO, THAT IS NOT YOUR SUMMARY OF BOWL GAMES BY THE SEC IN THE COACH RICHT ERA, BUT THAT UGA IS THE BEST SEC TEAM IN BOWL GAMES IN THE COACH RICHT ERA. WE HAVE WON 0 BIG BOWL GAMES ON THE NATIONAL STAGE IN THE ENTIRE 9-YEAR HISTORY OF THE COACH RICHT ERA, patrick.

“Ave 10 wins a year.”

RESPONSE : WE PLAY 13. WE AVERAGE THE NUMBER 3RD BEST SEC TEAM EVERY YEAR. WE AVERAGE 10 WINS. WE AVERAGE 1 LOSS A SEASON TO A TEAM UNRANKED IN THE FINAL AP POLL TOP 25. WE AVERAGE 1 WIN OVER A TOP 10 TEAM EVER 3 YEARS, AND NONE IN THE LAST 3 YEARS. WE ARE 17-19 VS FINAL AP POLL TOP 25 AND ADD IN FOR GOOD MEASURE 8 LOSSES TO TEAM UNRANKED IN THE FINAL AP POLL TOP 25.

WE ARE 3RD BEST IN THE SEC IN THE COACH RICHT ERA WITH 10 WINS A SEASON, AND 4TH BEST NOW THAT ALABAMA HAS PASSED US TOO. WHAT IS YOUR RESPONSE TO THAT patrick ?

2-1 in BCS bowls

NUMBER 19 FINAL AP POLL HAWAII JOKE OF A TEAM HARDLY COUNTS AS A BCS BOWL WIN OVER A GREAT TEAM ON THE NATIONAL STAGE. NUMBER 22 FINAL AP POLL FLORIDA STATE WHO LOST 5 GAMES JOKE OF A TEAM HARDLY COUNTS AS A BCS BOWL WIN OVER A GREAT TEAM EITHER. WE PLAYED ONE BCS BOWL GAME AGAINST A TEAM RANKED HIGHER THAN NUMBER 19 IN THE FINAL AP POLL, AND LOST.

“UGA had exact same record in 2002 when they won the SEC as Fla had when they won teh SEC in 2008 but Fla was invited toi the BCS. Not being invited to the BCS NC with an identical record as Fla when they did is an indictment on the BCS not UGA.”

RESPONSE : I ALREADY COVERED THE DOWN SEC YEAR OF 2002 AND NOW YOU BRING IT BACK UP AGAIN. UGA PLAYED 5-LOSS ARKANSAS IN THE SEC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME. THERE WAS ONLY 1 OTHER SEC TEAM RANKED IN THE FINAL COACHES’ POLL IN 2002. BUT, I WILL ADD THAT FLORIDA DID NOT WIN THE SEC IN 2008 BUT INSTEAD WON THE BCS NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP IN BOTH 2008 AND 2006. GOD patrick HOW CAN YOU FIGURE AGAIN THAT UGA IS BETTER THAN FLORIDA IN THE COACH RICHT ERA AGAIN WHEN UGA DOES NOT HAVE A BETTER WON/LOSS RECORD THAN FLORIDA IN THE COACH RICHT ERA. UGA ALSO DOESN’T HAVE A BETTER WON/LOSS RECORD THAN LSU IN THE COACH RICHT ERA. ALABAMA HAS CLEARLY INARGUABLY PASSED COACH RICHT BY NOW TOO. WHY YOU WANT TO PICK ON 2008 BCS NC OF FLORIDA AND NOT 2006, I DON’T KNOW; BUT IF 2008 IS ALL WE ARE GOING TO LOOK AT :

FLORIDA BEAT # 13 UGA IN 2008 BY A SCORE OF 49-10. THE FLORIDA PLAYERS CLAPPED THEIR HANDS LIKE OLD LADIES ON THE SIDELINES WITH A MINUTE LEFT WHEN MIKE BOBO FINALLY GOT A TOUCHDOWN AGAINST FLORIDA WHEN WE YANKED MATTHEW STAFFORD FROM THE GAME AND LOGAN GRAY THREW THE TD AGAINST FLORIDA’S 5TH TEAM TAXI SQUAD OF NON-SCHOLARSHIP FOOTBALL PLAYERS ON THEIR 125-MAN ROSTER. 49-10. FLORIDA BEAT # 6 FINAL AP POLL ALABAMA BY NEARLY 2 TD IN THE SEC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME WE DIDN’T GO TO. FLORIDA BEAT ALABAMA BY THE SAME MARGIN ALABAMA BEAT US, NEARLY 2 TD. AND OH YEAH, WE LOST TO GEORGIA tek THE YEAR YOU WANT TO TALK ABOUT TOO, 2008, patrick. GOD ALMIGHTY DAMN IS ALL I CAN SAY. FLORIDA THEN BEAT # 5 FINAL AP POLL OKLAHOMA FOR THE BCS NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP, AND YOU ARE IN HERE patrick WHINING LIKE A LITTLE BABY THAT FLORIDA DID NOT DESERVE TO WIN THE BCS NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP AND UGA DID IN 2002 WHEN THE SEC WAS DOWN THAT YEAR WITH 1 SEC TEAM RANKED IN THE FINAL COACHES’ POLL IN 2002 YET THERE ARE FIVE (5) SEC TEAM RANKED IN THE FINAL COACHES’ POLL IN 2008 WITH FLORIDA THE CREAM OF THE CROP, THE BEST OF THE BEST CONFERENCE. SEC WAS NOT THE BEST CONFERENCE IN 2002, WHICH IS WHY UGA DID NOT GET TO PLAY ANYONE BUT A 5-LOSS NUMBER 22 FINAL AP POLL FLORIDA STATE IN 2002. GET OVER IT. FLORIDA IS A LOT BETTER FOOTBALL PROGRAM THAN GEORGIA IN THE COACH RIGHT ERA, SO TOO IS LSU, AND NOW ALABAMA HAS PASSED COACH RICHT TO MAKE UGA THE 4TH BEST TEAM IN OUR CONFERENCE, NEVER MIND ALL THE TEAMS IN THE OTHER CONFERENCES WHO ALSO ARE BETTER THAN COACH RICHT IN THE COACH RICHT ERA.

“Sans the Mythical NC UGA has an equal or better record than Fla.”

END YOUR QUOTE LIES NOT IN CAPS patrick.

LIAR. FLORIDA HAS A BETTER RECORD IN THE COACH RICHT ERA THAN UGA, AND SO TOO DOES LSU, AND NOW ALABAMA HAS PASSED US TOO. UGA IN THE COACH RICHT ERA NOW TODAY IS THE 4TH BEST TEAM IN OUR OWN CONFERENCE.

THAT AIN’T GREAT AND YOU SIR ARE A LIAR. NEVER MIND THE LITTLE SUBLIMINAL STATEMENT OF YOURS THAT WE ARE TO DISREGARD FLORIDA HAS 3 NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS SINCE 1996 AND UGA 0 IN 3 DECADES. HOW THE LIVING HELL CAN YOU DISREGARD THAT patrick ? HOW THE LIVING HELL CAN YOU DISREGARD THE 10 HUGE BIG 10 SEC BOWL WINS IN THE COACH RICHT ERA, AND UGA NONE OF THOSE EITHER ?

LSU 4 HUGE BIG WINS IN HUGE BIG MAJOR BOWL GAMES IN COACH RICHT ERA, COACH RICHT 0.

FLORIDA 4 HUGE BIG WINS IN HUGE BIG MAJOR BOWL GAMES IN COACH RICHT ERA, COACH RICHT 0.

AUBURN EVEN, HAS A HUGE BIG WIN IN A HUGE BIG MAJOR BOWL GAME IN COACH RICHT ERA, COACH RICHT 0.

ALABAMA NOW TOO, HAS A HUGE BIG WIN IN A HUGE BIG MAJOR BOWL GAME IN COACH RICHT ERA, COACH RICHT 0.

5 SEC NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS IN THE COACH RICHT ERA, THEN WE ALL COME IN HERE patrick AND YOU FIGURED OUT THAT COACH RICHT IS IN FACT THE BEST.

B.S.

YOU CAN COME IN HERE AND SAY WHATEVER YOU WANT patrick. I DO NOT MIND YOU PICKING ON ME. BUT I WILL BE DAMNED IF YOU ARE GOING TO COME IN HERE AND LIE AND THINK YOU WILL GET AWAY WITH IT patrick.

Our Offensive Coordinator Mike Bobo can never have coached anywhere else except Jacksonville State as their quarterbacks coach 1 year, but he can be Coach Richt’s Offensive Coordinator who has beat no Final AP Poll Top 10 team with a 5-6 record against Final AP Poll Top 25 teams and 4 losses to teams Unranked in the Final AP Poll Top 25.

But, our Defensive Coordinator has to be 3rd highest paid DC in the nation, and has to be an 11-year NFL Veteran.

What’s wrong with this picture ?

Oh, we don’t need an Offense. We can just finally for the 1st time in the Coach Richt Era beat a Top-Ranked Team in a Big Bowl Game without an Offense. All you need is a Defense.

Nebraska this season that just ended had just a Defense.

Nebraska lost to Virginia Tech when Nebraska could only muster 15 points on Offense. Nebraska lost to Texas Tech when Nebraska could only muster 10 points on Offense. Nebraska lost to Iowa State when Nebraska could only muster 7 points on Offense. Nebraska lost to Texas when Nebraska could only muster 12 points on Offense.

Excuse me, do you want to name me a Final AP Poll Top 25 team Nebraska did beat this season that just ended ?

No one.

If you have a great Defense, and Nebraska was the Number 1 Defense in College Football last year, you can still lose all your games against ranked teams and still lose yet several more games against UNRANKED teams.

You have to have an Offense AND a Defense.

We have a Defense. It is going to be glaring how much Better our UGA Defense and Special Teams are than our Offense.

We will lose 3 or 4 games too, just like Nebraska last year.

Nebraska beat no ranked team in the Final AP Poll. None.

Nebraska played in a bowl game in December, not even on New Year’s Eve December 31st even. They played a 5-loss unranked Arizona team.

I want more than that, excuse me.

I’d also like to be better than 4th Best in our own Conference.

Coach Richt, you have done half a job of fixing the B.S. “coaching staff” you assembled here; and, you cannot say we won’t pay more not with the 3rd highest paid Defensive Coordinator.

You need an Offensive Coordinator with 11-year NFL experience.

Florida is not going to be as bad as people think. The Gators will not got 5-7 in 2010. I agree with the posters here that George Edwards is clearly a #7 or #8 defensive coordinator in the SEC. Yes, we lost 4 coaches. Yes, we lost 5 starters on offense, and 6 starters on defense. Yes, that’s unfortunate. But you still have that high school style triple option spread offense–it works well if you only have one week to prepare, in games where you have longer, like the Alabama SEC Championship, sure, the triple option spread doesn’t work. So, yes, Florida will go 5-3 in in the SEC in 2010 for the third time in 6 years, but enough of this 5-7 stuff. The Gators are not that bad.

Georgia scores plenty of points on offense, averaged 28-32 points 2007-2009. We have best offensive mind in the game who got FSU to 5 top 5 offensive finishes and 5 Natl Campionship games, 2 Hesiman Trophies for his QB’s.

Georgia almost scored as many points per game this year as Alabama, the difference was defense.

Coach Richt solved that problem, Georgia will be leading the SEC in defense from now on.

The top 2 defenses in 2009 were Saban and Strong who allowed the least points in the SEC. One went 13-0, the other 12-1.

The top offense scorer in the SEC was Arkansas at 35 points a game. But Arkansas went 7-5 because they don’t play defense.

Defense wins Championships. Georgia has the best defensive coordinator in the SEC. Georgia will win it all in 2010 & 2011.

Florida lost a ton of good coaches and talent, and they should be way down this year. Edwards is no match for Grantham, so Georgia’s D should dominate in that game. With Brantley running for his life, Georgia puts up an easy win this year–bank on it. Georgia and Bama will play for the SEC title, while florida gets stuck in a minor bowl sponsored by a rental car agency or chicken sandwich!
