File this one under Silly Season Speculation, but I present it in the interest of keeping you, dear readers, fully informed. And that’s why I’m here! To serve! To bring every noteworthy nugget to you who Need To Know!
OK, where was I?
Oh, yeah. From the Rumor Central of ESPN.com’s Insiders comes this: “TTU job a stepping stone for Tuberville?” (Link requires registration.) And you’ll never guess where those presumed stones are said to lead.
For your edification, I present the item in its entirety:
“Will Tommy Tuberville retire at Texas Tech? Kirk Bohls of the Austin American-Statesman sure doesn’t think so. Tuberville has yet to sign his contract, and the buyout he has to pay if he were to break his contract isn’t high enough — in Bohls’ opinion, anyway.
“[Writes Bohls:] ‘Personally, I would have had Tuberville agree to a larger buyout. After all, he probably would be the Tennessee coach if he had waited a week instead of saying yes to Texas Tech.’
“Tuberville seems very happy to be at Tech and to be coaching again. But you do have to wonder, if he has success in Lubbock and a lucrative SEC job were to open up in the next couple of seasons, whether he’d be able to turn that offer down. Disgruntled LSU and Georgia fans might have to start paying the Red Raiders a little more attention.”
Well, now. That’s a mighty big leap from a mighty small item in Mr. Bohls’ column, but it does illustrate … something. We all know that Tuberville enjoys being courted — ask Ole Miss fans, or Auburn fans, or Arkansas fans — but it wasn’t long ago that Georgia could never been included in any discussion of a school that might soon be seeking a new coach.
But I should stipulate that any disgruntlement with Mark Richt has eased. Most UGA fans are excited about Todd Grantham as defensive coordinator — some weren’t happy with the search, but they’ll get over that if Grantham delivers — and they’ll get excited again on Signing Day. The heat on Miles, who infamously blew the Ole Miss game, is much higher than on Richt. (LSU fans are going nuts over Nick Saban winning big at Alabama.)
No, this isn’t your father’s SEC, or even your uncle’s. Phillip Fulmer was gone from Tennessee a year after playing for the conference title. Tuberville himself was out at Auburn two seasons after going 11-2. Things can happen quickly, sure. That said …
I don’t see any way Georgia is looking for a coach next December. LSU, maybe. Not UGA.
(P.S. I do think Mr. Bohls — nice guy, good writer — has it right when he says Tuberville would be sitting in Knoxville today if he’d waited a week. Which would mean Tuberville would have coached three different SEC schools, which I don’t think anyone has ever done. Though Bobby Petrino will give it a go.)

Even if I agreed with whatever bonehead fans think that Richt is doing a bad job (get a life, he’s among the winningest coaches for the decade, there is absolutely no way I would want Tuberville anywhere near the program. I like what Richt has done with or without a NC. That will come. Grantham is a great hire that should solidify defensive recruiting and return Georgia to a feared defensive team like the Erk Russell days. I can’t wait. Go Dawgs.

Oh Yeah, Saban's Shadow Will Get Beatdown By Georgia Too

There is no defensive coordinator for Bama besides Nick Saban. He’s the ONLY genius genius on his team. And he’s a DEFENSIVE GENIUS. They don’t have an OFFENSIVE GENIUS. That’s why Georgia will beat them, just like we did recently (poor old Florida couldn’t score enough on Bama, Florida’s only top 10 opponent for 2009)
Saban wanted Grantham for his DC but he couldn’t get him. But Georgia did.
Now, Saban and his shadow (what’s his name???) will get to experience firsthand the defensive genius of Grantham, and the offensive genius of Richt (you know, the guy who led the top 5 in the NCAA in offensive categories at FSU and led FSU to get into 5 Natl Champ’s–yeah, THAT guy).
Richt will average over 32 points a game for the next few years.
Grantham will give up less than 13 a game for the next few years.
It’s a good combo.
Nobody will be able to beat that combo.
In 2010 or 2011. Nobody will beat Georgia.

I hope Coach Richt stays at Georgia until the day he retires or dies. Willie Martinez is the only reason that Richt has not had the success he had his first five years. Things will certainly change now with Todd Grantham and him teamed up. The next two to three seasons you will see Richt making about 4 million a year if not more because of the success the program is fixing to have again. Recruits want to go play for Mark Richt and now we have the coaches in place to make these top 5 recruiting classes the best they can be…. GO DAWGS!

What I want to know is how the heck Daltrey and Townsend can still call themselve The Who for the Super Bowl halftime show when both Moon and Entwistle are now gone. Hard enough to find a decent replacement for Moon but now they’ve got to find a replacement for someone who can do this?

Page/Plant, although very good ain’t Zeppelin and Townsend/Daltrey ain’t the Who.
Texas Freshman QB Almost Beats Saban's Shadow
January 25th, 2010

Just in case any of you goons think Georgia can’t beat the Bamas of the world with a freshman QB, take a look at what the QB from Texas did to Bama. 1 sack in the whole game. If the fresh QB doesn’t throw all those INT’s, Texas wins. Saban’s D ain’t all that. We’ll see you in the SEC Champ next year Saban’s Shadow.

ESPN's Herbstreit Not Picking Georgia---Again!!

Surprise, surprise, Biased ESPN journalist Kirk “I hate Georgia” Herbstreit” in NOT picking Georgia in 2010.
He’s into Alabama, Ohio State & Iowa. Yeah, Mr. Big 10. They’ll suddenly, after 5 years, start to dominate the SEC, yeah, whatever clueless one.
Most programs are apparently lousy
January 25th, 2010
6:06 pm
To my memory over the last10+ years only these schools have won the NC and so apparently, if YOUR SCHOOL IS NOT listed here ( like my alma mater UGA ) your school is ALSO LOUSY.
Folks giggle when UGA fans post about the “13 years of 8+ wins a year”. The UGA detractors say that UGA has not won the NC in many, many years. really? THAT IS CORRECT but does that make that school look lousy. I say nope. There can only be ONE NC at a time. geeez.
Only these schools have won it all lately:
USC (not SC ) , Bama, LSU, UT and Florida and Oklahoma, Ohio State over about 10 or 12 years with multi winners Florida, etc. See? Where is Wisconsin or Nebraska or Michigan or Penn State or W VA or VATECH or GT or FSU or Clemson or Texas A & M or Washington or UCLA or Stanford and the list goes on for days.
To argue that UGA has not won it is to ALSO argue that ANY SCHOOL that does not win the NC is lousy and the grads know better.
Go Dogs.

Wil lie ever Coach again?
January 25th, 2010

Georgia was bad = they fixed the defensive coordinator position.
Georgia is bad again = ? .There’s only so many other positions you can replace before you make it to the head coach spot. I’d say if Georgia has two bad years in a row, Richt is gone (though one really bad year might be enough)

ga gator – we know who hired Coach Martinez. Coach Martinez’s secondary played well when Coach Van Gorder was there. Matter of fact some are having success in the NFL. Coach Richt was loyal to Coach Martinez and gave him the opportunity. His being fired was partly because of the lack of discipline we had in the program. Oh bye the way at least our HC doesn’t want to be media hog. Meyer is a hell of a coach and doesn’t need to pull the publicity stunt he pulled the week of the NC. I’ll take a class guy like Coach Richt anyday. Meyer wasn’t going anywhere and he knew it.

frank james, Richt is a fine man, and coach. My only point is on these blogs most UGA fans hammered Willie for 2 years and have started the samething with Bobo; how long will UGA fans accept him being dominated by 1 of his main rivals? If the ultimate goal is the win the NC, he will never get there without winning the SEC east and then the Championship game.

#1 I think Mark Richt knows what he’s doing and he does it with class. Georgia fans should be thankful to have him. As bad as this year was, 8-5 and beating 2 of your 4 biggest rivals would be a good year at some SEC schools near Augusta. Not to mention bowls every year and only losing bowls twice. I do think the program needed some new blood and MR delivered on that need.
#2 In the unfortunate event that Mark Richt was fired, why would anyone even consider hiring Turbeville when Richt has beaten Auburn the last 4 years in a row-3 under TT, 1 with TT recruits?
#3 The next coach at Georgia would have to be Smart or, if he does well, Dooley.

I’m UGA thru and thru, inside and out and up and down.
No way. No Way we’re letting Coach Richt out of town.
Seems like there’s a few more on the wagon than maybe
a month or two ago. Guys come on. Coach Richt gets it
done. ‘09 was a down year by UGA standards. While I
personally think there’s a good bunch of guys on the
team, the talent trough lacked a little when it’s stacked
up against UF, LSU, et al. That’s definitely changing
with the past two classes and the group coming in for the
fall of ‘10. Let’s all get on board in January……
our q-b position will need some patience… and nothing
wrong with that concept. Whoever is behind center in
the fall, let’s rally behind the young man and offer support
and encouragement as fans.

A more pertinent question.
In UGA’s 1st loss under the new regime, will it be a failure of Grantham’s D(24-31) or Bobo’s O(14-17)….or both (7-35).

Trust me, i it comes to CMR getting fired, and I hope it does not, It wipl be Will Muschamp’s job. Tuberville has no chance over a fire brand like Will. I love Richt, and he would not be dealing with any of this if he had pulled it out in 2002 or 2007. There has been specupation at ESPN by certain insider’s that Richt MUST have a big 2010. I would like to believe that UGA is different than those wishy washy universities like USC or Tennessee. But that type of thinking only comes with championships, and Richt has none to lean on. Here’s Big L hoping for the best. Just rememberd Muschamp, Richt better keep an eye all the way around.

Our voice of the Vikings, Paul Allen, thinks Farve will be back! Why would he want to retire with unfinished business? He will have basically the same team to come back to. He gets along well with the team. He’s a great locker room player. We may have to wait, but wouldn’t you wait to get football immoratlity? It sounds like the players are willing to wait too. I hope he decides soon, but am willing to wait. As for Tuberville, no way!
