So much for R&R: Urban Meyer to coach spring practice
When the definitive biography of Urban Meyer is written (not by me, I believe it’s safe to say), the bizarre doings and undoings of Dec. 26-27, 2009, will be a footnote. The man who quit and then decided instead on a leave of absence says he’ll take a bit of time off after Signing Day. But apparently nothing more.
Meyer said Saturday he plans to coach his Gators in spring practice. If that’s indeed the case — with Meyer, any declaration must carry a disclaimer — then there seems no chance he won’t coach Florida in the 2010 season. And if he coaches Florida next season, that restores some semblance of order to an SEC East in deep-dish flux.
You’d have to say Florida is again the prohibitive favorite to take the division and play for the SEC title. And you’d have to say those reports of the Gators being in disarray after Meyer’s volte-face would, in the blush of recent developments, seem overheated. Doesn’t seem to be hurting recruiting, does it? (Rivals.com ranks Florida No. 1 for its 2010 class, of which 21 of the 25 commitments are rated either 4- or 5-star.) This despite the latest smear campaign from the crown prince of dirt.
A year ago Lane Kiffin accused Meyer, incorrectly, of cheating. Being based three time zones away apparently hasn’t slaked the Kiffin thirst: According to GatorCountry.com, Kiffin and henchman Ed Orgeron have been telling recruits that Meyer is planning to succeed Lee Corso on ESPN’s “Gameday.”
In 1995 Mike Krzyzewski took a leave of absence after back surgery. It was a big deal at the time, but he returned the next season and coaches Duke still. It’s not a big deal anymore, hasn’t been for 15 years. It’s a footnote in a career that has totaled three NCAA championships. Urban Meyer has won the BCS titles twice. Not predicting another anytime soon, mind you. Just sayin’.

I’m surprised so many dawg fans think Grantham is the panacea. Even if he turns the defense around you still got a rookie QB. I’d imagine most teams will come out against UGa trying to stuff the run and see if they can get Murray to make some rookie mistakes. Oh, BTW, don’t forget that Reggie Ball was conference rookie of the year. lol Too bad he was a rookie his whole career. lol

Murray is better than Brantley, Florida has ZERO asdvatage there, and Bobo outcoached the Gator QB Coach in 2009–Cox threw for more TD’s than Tebow.
Georgia has 10 out of 11 starters, better running game, AJ Green and Marlon Bown #1/#2 ranked WR, #1/#2 ranked tight ends.
Georgia has Grantham, the DC that Saban TRIED to hire, so Georgia will have a better defesne than Edwards, the guy Saban did NOT try to hire as DC.
Georgia has all SEC punter AND kicker.
Let’s see:

The Gators will sorely miss departed quarterback Tim Tebow, the 2007 Heisman Trophy winner. But sophomore John Brantley might be a better fit for Florida’s high-octane passing attack. Brantley will lead the Gators to an SEC East title in 2010, and then he’ll win the Heisman Trophy as a senior in 2011.

Gator’s Tator, Tebow only cared about winning. If your offense hadn’t sucked so bad your kicker wouldn’t have had so much practice. You got the same coordinator that Cleveland fired and AJ Greene still has nightmares about coming across the middle against the gators. Murray hasn’t played a down and Brantley has Stafford like talent according to NFL scouts= more misery for UGA.

i love it when gator fans try to call us convicts… 258 tickets for your Gators this year alone! Urban refuses to comment. It was all a ploy. He was mad because the focus wasn’t on him so that drama queen retired just long enough to put his name in the papers during the championship week. Sad stuff. Tebow and the gauger are gone. Yea Bobo’s the best, if your offense didnt suck you punter wouldnt have made all american, I’ll take ours who only had 13 return yards all year. Your new DC got fired by the CLEVELAND FREAKING BROWNS so I wouldnt be to excited about that so plus you have Richt pulling the strings so that = continued beatdowns.

Florida out rushed Georgia 2 to 1 last year and will again-book it.
The only player you have that could start for Florida is AL Green, but the Gators smothered him last year and bruised his lung-hope he’s better.

I just hope FSU and Miami can start grabbing some those recruits that go to Gainesville. Right now, UF rules the state of one of the best talent pools in the country. The Dogs need to keep some of our states studs here at home, too. UF plucks too many studs from GA(i.e. Mack Brown).

Mike T. we didn’t own it in the 90’s, just ya’ll. Point is when I was younger, UGA was in UF’s head. Many times we had the better team but lost to you. The attitude was we should win, or we could win or we might win. Spurrier reversed the thinking; now we expect to win. I thinkl what did it was the 2 years when we went home and home and he put “half a hundred” on you in Athens, the coaches and players since then have let Florida in UGA’s heads. Just sayin……………
