Audience participation: Got a question for Todd Grantham?

I’m headed to Athens on Friday for Todd Grantham’s first media session. (In case you’ve been living on a satellite, he’s Georgia’s new defensive coordinator.) I have some questions in mind –  “When you were with Dallas, did you ever meet Jessica Simpson?” — but I thought I’d be interactive about this and ask if any of y’all had any.

Understand: I’m not promising I’ll ask them all, or even a half-dozen. But I’ll try to squeeze in one or two, and I’ll let you know what he says in response. And I, being my generous self, will give you credit.

I’m leaving about 9 a.m., and the session is at 11. So if there’s something you’d like to offer — “Coach TG, will recruiting change now that Georgia will be playing the 3-4?” — please avail yourselves ASAP. As always, I thank you in advance.

Ask him to show you his mean glare and then rate it on a scale of one Uga’s to ten Uga’s.

COACH G – SInce you are are essentially the highest paid DC in College Football (besides Kiffy’s Daddy and Muschamp “Coach in Waiting”), don’t you feel the obligation to perform THIS YEAR, and not make excuses about the kids learning a new scheme and there will be a year (or two) learning curve???

Did you have access to Tony Romo’s “throwaways” and were they hotter than Jaime Jungers?

If you want to make him squirm, ask if he expects any tension between the offensive and defensive staffs with him making more than double the salary of the offensive coordinator ($750K vs. $325K). I’d also like to know the differences between coaching professionals and college athletes.

It might also be interesting to know how much autonomy he’s been promised in running things, hiring, etc. on the defensive side of the ball and what his goals are for the 2010 squad.

Mark,

You will need to provide some background info in regards to this question when you ask it:

Coach, how willing are you to change up your base defense or your defensive game plan when it appears that the offense is showing you something completely different than what you prepared for? Are you willing to make adjustments on the fly, or can you be pretty stubborn in sticking to what you want to do, regardless of the performance on the field?

And of course, Mark, the reason why I ask this question, is because how many times did Soft Willie Martinez refuse to do ANYTHING different when second-tier QBs like Eric Ainge, John Parker Wilson, or a fourth-tier QB like Jon Crompton, picked apart his soft zones? How many times did we see him refuse to make ANY adjustments to his base defense or his gameplan?

TOO MANY TIMES!!!

I’d like to make sure that Coach Grantham not only has a brain between his ears, but that he actually USES it!!!

When Mark Richt gets fired, are you planning on stepping on his face as you ascend toward the top in an effort to get the head coaching job? No? But that’s what you did in the NFL, Coach.

There have been a lot of rumblings lately about the strength and conditioning program at UGA being sub-par, with supposed NFL sources tell Buck Belue (per his blog) that Georgia players are known as not being “NFL strong”. I would be curious to know if such a statement is true and what he would do if he found such to be the case upon arrival.

Coach Grantham:

Do you know what the inside of a football helmet looks like? I’m sure you do, but we’d like to find out on Saturdays. i.e. Could we see some heads rolling?

Would you be opposed to our players competing to see who puts the opposing team’s
mouthpiece(s) on the ground first? Would you mind encouraging this?

Since these guys are pretty much right out of high school, how do you plan on preparing them with the fundamentals. Wrapping up tackles, reading offenses, being disciplined, avoiding the costly penalties, and for goodness sakes, giving up the big plays.

Have you ever milked a cow before? We recruit top notch players and while the college and pro game differs quite a bit, so many of our players excel at the next level while only being mediocre to on par at college. Other than the money, and I know it is a big motivating factor in the pros, how do you prepare and “milk” the best out of a college player? Would your NFL experience guide them to becoming better at college and still excel at the pros?

You don’t like to ride scooters while drinking, slap our defensive players, put people with concussions in dark rooms, or go to strip clubs do you?

When you do push ups, do you push yourself up or push the earth down?

I hope you love your mom and grandmother(s), some of our recruits do and what our mom’s and grandmothers say, we follow.

Not sure if I’m considered as a “hater” but I sure do enjoy waking up early to bitch slap you and some of the other obnoxious dogs.

“30 to 24 hurts” me but not near as bad as 45-42 hurt you when you were preseason number one ranked. Don’t kid yourself little man. Hahahaha. And hey, congratulations on 30-24 last year. I know it made your pathetic life!

And truth be known, production wise, I probably do more in one day than you do in an entire week. In 6 days I take a full course load, work 40 hrs, date the best looking girl at uga and still make time to rip you AH’s here.

Hahahaha. LOOOOZER! Lol. Coach Grantham is gonna love you AH!

Every coach (probably Bear Bryant and Lombardi also) ever hired has stated the obvious, “we are going to be an aggressive, get after it, blitzing defense.” Which does sound better than, “I like a slow, dumb and clueless defense.” Wait that’s what we had the last two years! What will you do about the stupid, momentum breaking penalties? Also if the players are going to be talking to the media please make speech classes a requirement.

Two questions:

#1 – is Rodney Garner definitely going to remain on the UGA coaching staff?

#2 – is UGA’s strength and conditioning program going to have any staff changes this offseason?

Thanks!
