Audience participation: Got a question for Todd Grantham?
I’m headed to Athens on Friday for Todd Grantham’s first media session. (In case you’ve been living on a satellite, he’s Georgia’s new defensive coordinator.) I have some questions in mind – “When you were with Dallas, did you ever meet Jessica Simpson?” — but I thought I’d be interactive about this and ask if any of y’all had any.
Understand: I’m not promising I’ll ask them all, or even a half-dozen. But I’ll try to squeeze in one or two, and I’ll let you know what he says in response. And I, being my generous self, will give you credit.
I’m leaving about 9 a.m., and the session is at 11. So if there’s something you’d like to offer — “Coach TG, will recruiting change now that Georgia will be playing the 3-4?” — please avail yourselves ASAP. As always, I thank you in advance.

Other than working for a “coach who’s had success,” why did CTG come to UGA? He has been in the NFL for a decade plus 1 year. What is his motive in joining the coaching staff at Georgia? Does CTG aspire to become a HC on the collegiate or professional level in the future? Or, did CMR simply show him the MONEY?!

One last series of questions and then I’m gone. What is CTG’s vision for thiis program? Can he elevate this defense to such a degree, that the Dawgs become a serious power in the SEC and contend for conference titles and BCS Championship Games?

Will the Grantham 3-4 scheme be complex or simple for UGA players to learn? Will they be able to play fast & aggressive from the start or will there be a learning curve….Does this scheme enable them to be able to quickly recognize their area of responsibility in the game……Do they have an advantage in playing in the 3-4 over the 4-3 for those who want to play in the NFL…..When the Ga defense is on the field–will Ga have the best conditioned players……What can CTG do as a coach/mentor to help the student-athlete have success as a student and football player…How important is accountability and discipline

CTG: Will your defensive priority in the short term be coaching fundamentals (ie, sound tackling and dbs that don’t drop interceptions) or installing scheme assignements (proper place at proper time). These have been consistent problems for UGA D for the last few years. As both are of equal importance and tend to feed off each other, which should be addressed first?

Why do you think that so many NFL defenses are more apt to run the 3-4 than that of the college ranks? And also, how much can the 3-4 adjust to the talent available as opposed to having to recruit and hopefully land a specific type of skill set in order to be effective?

Ask him if he will be a stubborn, hard nosed coach, who gets enthusiastic about the games and will show emotion on the sidelines. If he cant do this then it isnt as much help as i thought. We REALLY need some emotion on the sidelines.

I think I have a good question. We all know Dallas’s Def Line was very good this year. My question for him is how does he get so much from his 3-4 def with a 295 pound Nose Tackle/Guard when he was with Dallas (Jay Ratliff listed at 295)? Usually 330 or bigger, just a thought on that to see if we already have DT’s on our roster that can play that position with success.

Coach Granthom, you realize we expect to be in the BCS national championship each year. Even though it’s been three decades since we been there, we dawg fans accept nuthin less. Figures Mark would use a picture of a fraud ( Jessica is a fraud of an entertainer).
I think Mark is a fraud also. Imagine a jounalist posting like 8 or 9 articles on the Dawgs DC vacancy…getting tons of feedback on peoples opions and concerns…and then postig a week later to find out what your concerns are so he can gleen some of them to ask at a Q&A session.
Only a Catholic Lawyer could do that and thank he was genuine.

UGA alum and big Cleveland Browns fan here, Mr. Grantham, You were never able to make the 3-4 work in Cleveland and I was wondering why you think you can make it work at UGA? How many kids in college can really play the nose in the 3-4?
