Slept fast. Went to Mass. Now I’m back downtown, chatting again. Last night was great fun — fine game, unexpected (at least by me) result, much to discuss. Example: Why did Paul Johnson call four consecutive deep passes with the game on the line? We know his stylized offense doesn’t feature the short or intermediate pass, but what about the ol’ option toss? Did PJ bail out — mixed metaphor alert — on his bread and butter?
I wish I could say I had great hope for another great game here at the Dome, but I don’t. I figure the Falcons beat the Bucs by three touchdowns. I figure the Falcons need to beat the Bucs by three touchdowns just to remind themselves they can still be a playoff-caliber team, recent results notwithstanding.
Four losses in five games will have a chilling effect on a franchise and its fans, and traffic around the Dome seemed unusually light around 11:30. (And I was running late.) Can’t imagine there’ll be a full house today, but I’m bad at predictions. Example: Tech 42, Georgia 27.
Wrongheaded though I am, I hope we can make the most of whatever this day brings. The idea is to talk about the Falcons, but we can certainly accommodate the occasional Tech-UGA submission. So I ask once again: Join me, won’t you?
Oh, and this one actual snippet of news: Michael Turner is in uniform and seems to be moving expeditiously in warmups. He’ll play. And Jerious Norwood is no longer among the inactives. That makes for a full house in the backfield, which isn’t the same thing as a full-house backfield. But it’s a most welcome sign.

Not yet, though. Redman hits Jenkins, who makes a diving catch at the stick. First down.

Two flags. Holding on both sides, I believe.
I’m guessing Mr. Blank is looking for a wheelchair to push even as we speak.

that’s right Mark. I forgot about Arthur dropping the pass against the Colts. I wish I did not feel the way I do about the Falcons but their history continues to repeat itself. They come out perform like this against a team that has been uncompetitive most of the year. Mark you have covered some classics with this circus over the years. Final Bucs21.Turkeys 13

This game has a very odd flow to it..it kinda feels like going on a blind date with somebody that you really don’t want to be with. Ryan’s first pass was almost intercepted, and then he gets hurt, and now he is unable to play. The last thing that the falcons need is for the bucs to get confident and cocky about their chances of actually winning this game. Redman is doing ok considering the circumstances, but this is not a game that I feel good about. We sould still be able to tough this one out and win…..but we better get a fire lighted under our butts and start scoring some points!!!

If he comes back later with Arthur Blank pushing him in a wheelchair that will be too much for this Clusters. Jammed toes must be painful but Matt may be coming back with some big shoes. Clarabelle comes to mind.

The game on Fox here in Tennessee got pre-empted by the Eagles-Redskins, so I’ve been staring at the NFL Network StatZone for updates (not very exciting). But from what I can tell, our offensive line thinks this is a bye week. You can’t pin this team’s hopes and criticisms on Matt Ryan if they’re not doing their jobs covering him. I just hope he’s okay.
