Live from the Dome: I’m back, and so’s the Burner

Slept fast. Went to Mass. Now I’m back downtown, chatting again. Last night was great fun — fine game, unexpected (at least by me) result, much to discuss. Example: Why did Paul Johnson call four consecutive deep passes with the game on the line? We know his stylized offense doesn’t feature the short or intermediate pass, but what about the ol’ option toss? Did PJ bail out — mixed metaphor alert — on his bread and butter?

I wish I could say I had great hope for another great game here at the Dome, but I don’t. I figure the Falcons beat the Bucs by three touchdowns. I figure the Falcons need to beat the Bucs by three touchdowns just to remind themselves they can still be a playoff-caliber team, recent results notwithstanding.

Four losses in five games will have a chilling effect on a franchise and its fans, and traffic around the Dome seemed unusually light around 11:30. (And I was running late.) Can’t imagine there’ll be a full house today, but I’m bad at predictions. Example: Tech 42, Georgia 27.

Wrongheaded though I am, I hope we can make the most of whatever this day brings. The idea is to talk about the Falcons, but we can certainly accommodate the occasional Tech-UGA submission. So I ask once again: Join me, won’t you?

Oh, and this one actual snippet of news: Michael Turner is in uniform and seems to be moving expeditiously in warmups. He’ll play. And Jerious Norwood is no longer among the inactives. That makes for a full house in the backfield, which isn’t the same thing as a full-house backfield. But it’s a most welcome sign.

Ryan needs Turner so bad, we rushed him back on the field, and now he has damaged his already injured ankle, which could be a season ending high sprain.

Matt is just not as good as I thought he was. Redman proved he should be the starter.

Dennis, Blank being on the sidelines is no different than the waterboy or towel girl or ex player or celebrity being there……he has no bearing on anything. Thinking Blank being on the sidelines affects the outcomes of the games is the same as saying the fans dont need to be at the games. Plus, the Falcons are 12-1 the past 2 years at home and I’m pretty sure Blank was on the sidelines for those W’s too.

Big game by Vick today. 0 for 1 passing and 2 rushes for 4 yards. For the season he has completed 3 of 8 passes for 6 yards (yes, 6 yards, not a typo) and has 15 rushes for 65 yards.

Or Choke, how about a 2006 season when the Falcons were 5-2, then lost to a 1-6 Detroit, and came home and lost to a 2-6 Cleveland team at home.

Again, who was that QB again? What was his name?

All They Had To Do Was Take What The Defense Was Giving Them & Work The Ball Down The Field!! This Loss Belongs SQUARELY On The Dumb Ass Shoulders Of P.J.!! AND,,That Dumb Ass Director Of Sports Who Could NOT Wait

The REAL BugKiller is checking out for this one, y’all.

Do me a favor: please take care of the mentally retarded people who choose to stay behind on the blog tonight!

Remember, they have stood by Vick because ONLY a mental retard would do so!

Don’t blame them: it’s the retardation.

Take care you guys! So inspirational! Keep on trying to make those complex sentences!

I know we just beat a 1-9 team, with a rookie qb, at home and had to do it in the final seconds of the game, but at least we saw that Redman is the better qb on the team.

I really thought Matt was the 2nd coming of Peyton, but I forgot Peyton only has 1 ring and even with that in mind, Matt hurts his toe and leaves his teammates out to dry.

To recap:

In 2005, the 6-2 Falcons lost to the 1-7 Green Bay, leading to a collapse and an 8-8 record.

In 2006, the 5-2 Falcons lost to a 1-6 Detroit, then came home and lost to a 2-6 Cleveland team, again leading the a collapse and a 7-9 season.

And you don’t think todays game was HUGE!!!! Better than beating the Patriots.

Calling the Choke Troll retarded is an insult to retarded people. Imbeciles, dolts, clods and fools are fair game, though. Choke the Dolt is a product of his environment… growing up under a bridge perhaps. Pants on backwards- again- HA HA HA HA HA HA!!!!

And yes, 9-7 is all we need this year- break the damned curse!!! Who needs a playoff appearance if we’re not going to compete?

in 05 we lost at HOME TO A 1-6 GREEN BAY TEAM.

in 06 We LOST on the road to a 1-6 DETROIT TEAM, then AT HOME TO A 2-6 CLEVELAND TEAM.

Both seasons we barely missed having winning seasons.

Tell me today was not a breakthrough.

But please, take care of all the mental retards left on the board.

Remember, it’s not their fault that they love a sociopathic felon. It’s the retardation!

Hats off to Redman, Roddy & Tony G. on this one. Gutsy! Yeah I know, I said Bucs 17-10 to start and it almost ended up that way. Start Redman from here on out and it will get interesting. He has twice the arm of matty. More guts too.

I was downtown for the crushing loss last night, and I managed to see the final few seconds of the Falcons. Glad the birds won, and I agree with what was said on the first page here – beating UGA last year was important to the fans, but getting to a BCS bowl means a little more this year. Have hopes for CPJ; just hope he’s consistent and the past couple of years haven’t been all luck.

Good column.

Choke the Dolt……….has a pretty nice ring to it. Teachers should use his posts as reason and motivation to what dropping out of school will equal.

Shouldn’t I hate Redman too. Technically he took the place of my boy Mr.Felon………oh wait, I guess John Paker Wilson would be in that spot because MV7 is third string, not 2nd.

I hate to agree with Matt “Choke” Ryan but Redman looked more poised than Ryan has all year. I would start him the next game even if Ryan is healthy.
