Slept fast. Went to Mass. Now I’m back downtown, chatting again. Last night was great fun — fine game, unexpected (at least by me) result, much to discuss. Example: Why did Paul Johnson call four consecutive deep passes with the game on the line? We know his stylized offense doesn’t feature the short or intermediate pass, but what about the ol’ option toss? Did PJ bail out — mixed metaphor alert — on his bread and butter?
I wish I could say I had great hope for another great game here at the Dome, but I don’t. I figure the Falcons beat the Bucs by three touchdowns. I figure the Falcons need to beat the Bucs by three touchdowns just to remind themselves they can still be a playoff-caliber team, recent results notwithstanding.
Four losses in five games will have a chilling effect on a franchise and its fans, and traffic around the Dome seemed unusually light around 11:30. (And I was running late.) Can’t imagine there’ll be a full house today, but I’m bad at predictions. Example: Tech 42, Georgia 27.
Wrongheaded though I am, I hope we can make the most of whatever this day brings. The idea is to talk about the Falcons, but we can certainly accommodate the occasional Tech-UGA submission. So I ask once again: Join me, won’t you?
Oh, and this one actual snippet of news: Michael Turner is in uniform and seems to be moving expeditiously in warmups. He’ll play. And Jerious Norwood is no longer among the inactives. That makes for a full house in the backfield, which isn’t the same thing as a full-house backfield. But it’s a most welcome sign.

Do your caregivers know so many of y’all are on the computers?
I think it’s dinner time, why don’t y’all put on your bibs! I think it’s pork chop and applesauce night!
Y’all are so great! It’s such a wonderful thing that y’all have learned how to spell and type!
Y’all are such a inspiration to the rest of us who take our normal mental function for granted.

This Falcons team deserves more credit than they’ll likely get for this win, solely based on the fact that by now their sideline looks like a M.A.S.H. unit filled with big names. They overcame a lot of adversity, and a win’s a win regardless of the record of the team you’re playing against. I hope that Matt Ryan will be healthy enough to play against the Eagles, and that the O-line will give him enough protection for a change that he’ll be able to do his job. One thing the Vick fans here can’t argue, we’d miss Ryan a heck of a lot more than the Eagles would their bench-warming backup. It’s not going to come down to or prove “who’s the better quarterback”, folks, though I’m sure the media and a lot of local folks will hype it up to do so; it’ll take a TEAM EFFORT to win for either side.
Just like it did today. GO FALCONS!!!!!!

Like I have been saying all along. Redman could have won last season with that weak schedule and Turner the Burner.
Redman just proved my point. He looked more Peyton like than the CHOKE.
The CHOKE is just hype and after the Eagles leave town next week, he will be blaming another teammate for his problems.
When the team needed their leader, he was crying about a freakin toe injury – Stafford lead his team with a separated shoulder and that’s why his teammates respect him for SUCKING IT UP!

Yeah, the only way Chris Redman made Matt Ryan a better quarterback is because Ryan couldn’t add to his interception numbers again this week. Redman is Ryan’s good doppleganger.

Next week is a playoff game.
1) Both Ryan and Turner will return
2) No one will give two s—- about Vick returning except the stupid media. He is irrelevant to that game he will do nothing. He was 0-1 passing with 2 runs for 4 yard against the Redskins. Andy Reid will not use him in an virtual playoff game and waste critical snaps.

This game could have been like in 05 and 06 when the Falcons were fading and we played a bad Green Bay team, and a Bad Cleveland team.
However, with the mighty MV7 at QB, we lost both of those and never played another meaningful game either season.
Even Redmon is better than MV7.

In 2005, a 6-2 Falcon team, heading to the playoffs, lost a home game againts a 1-7 Green Bay team, killing their momentum, causing them to finish 8-8 and unable to bread the curse.
Now, who was the QB again?

Congrads to the veteran Chris Redman! Showed how to overcome playing with two 2nd string O-linemen. Show how to play, throw, read, and work the team down the field. Showed how trust the something not worthy of trust (Michael Jenkins), and made not just the big throw, but the little ones on a consistent basis… Solid play, solid back-up, way to go… BTW, pray we never have to play John Wilson…

The Falcons lucked this game out. I have been a fan since ‘66 and it just amazes me how many
mistakes one team can make that makes other teams look like world beaters. I am glad we won today although I sure did a lot of “cussing ” as the game went on.

First off ,will someone please tell Blank to stay off the d@m field until after the game is completely over . He make the falcons and their coaches look weak with all those affectionate huge . The falcons are really hurting i understand that ,but I’m beginning to have second though about coach Smith and his coaching team having what it take to get the falcons to the next level in the NFL .The defense should be strapped next year and rebuilt with real men who have heart , i don’t see out there on the field any more from the falcons . Abraham should be the first to go .

The O Line played horribly today.
Redman is a seven year vet.
He should make reads quicker.
Ryan is still learning NFL defenses.
He has less than two years experience.
He will improve.
Ryan haters are impatient and unreasonable.

Remember, the “Ryan Haters” are just doing it to get under your skin. They are using the ages old strategy to just try and ruin our day. No reason to let them, you know Matty Ice is the real deal.
Bottom line, todays game was a trap game, we got through it. That is all that matters.

Mr. Charlie,s
I agree. This has traditionally been a Falcons loss.
But we won.
The D found a way to stop them.
The O found a way to score.
I think this team is getting stronger.
Too bad so many of the players will be gone next year.
