"Just look at those waffle fries falling from the sky!" (AJC photo by Brant Sanderlin)
From Shreveport, La., to Northside Drive? According to Chris Lowe of ESPN.com, Georgia is apt to be invited to the Chick-fil-A Bowl, which if memory serves is played here in Atlanta. (Full disclosure: I’m sitting in the Dome as I type.) Here’s Lowe’s rationale:
“The Outback gets first choice out of the [non-BCS SEC teams] East and the Cotton first choice out of the West after the Capital One selects. But since Ole Miss went to the Cotton Bowl last year, there may be a deal worked out where the Rebels go to the Outback this year and Tennessee to the Cotton. The Vols finished in a tie with Georgia for second place in the East, but beat the Bulldogs head-to-head.
“The Chick-fil-A Bowl also has a tough choice. South Carolina became a lot more attractive with its win over Clemson. But with Georgia beating Georgia Tech, there will be a lot of pressure to keep the Bulldogs close to home there in Atlanta. Plus, Georgia beat South Carolina head-to-head and finished a game better than the Gamecocks in the SEC standings.”
Me, I’m not so sure. I think there’s a chance Georgia ends up in Nashville. But there are so many 7-5 SEC teams — six, if you’re counting, four of them from the Eastern Division — that these middle-tier bowls could wind up drawing names out of a hat.

Just admit that UGA ownes you and it won’t hurt so much… You will lose to Clemson and you will not go to Miami and you will lose your bowl game and end up 10 and 4 and ranked probably 18th. And you did all that with the best Tech team in 20 years…. AND YOU STILL LOST TO UGA>
Glad it hurts so bad… you should be used to it by now… 8 out of 9 and by the way Mark Richt is 12 and 1 vs the ACC.

To all you tech fans about you QB getting hurt: The reason the SEC went away from a running QB is because they got hurt too much. They could not hold up to the week in week out pounding. You all have a big durable QB that has not been injured very often (the same as FL with Tebow). DO not expect this to be the norm in the future. This is the reason I think in the long run these offenses will not last and are just a fad. Give me the pro set for the long haul.

It all depends on next week. If tech loses then I would think UGA ends up in tennessee, if tech wins then UGA is in atlanta. UGA vs clemson is an old rivalry that I can’t picture the chickfila bowl passing up.

this message is for AJC Sportswriters and bloggers who have decided it is okay to mock the GT players videos and dancing to their music and promo videos. Feel free to point fingers at the GTAA, alumni, fans and even the parents but choosing to make classless remarks about the players is crossing the lines. These kids developed their own unique style based from their culture and diversity. If anything, UGA players would more likely follow the same and develop their own. If UGA fans on these blogs think their players think like they do, I assure you they do not. It is fun to enjoy yourself and take part with the team on your home field. To allow these remarks to be printed by AJC is more shameful than the UGA fan remarks. To continue this abuse could be construed as racist. Enough of it.

I have no idea how any TECH fan can say they didn’t care about this game. Here are just a few things just to remind you how much the game means to you.
1) Every single Senior said they GREATEST achievement of their Tech career was beating UGA last year ‘Between the Hedges’. I would have thought that beating #4 VT and going 10-1 in your Senior year was more of an achievement.
2) It doesn’t matter who you play both your fight songs, ‘Rambling wreck’ and ‘Gold and White’ are purely about beating UGA. Yes we do sing ” To Hell with Georgia Tech” but only when we play GT! seriously your not going to intimidate Clemson by saying you hate us.
3) After all the smack talk delivered before the game, an all ready quite stadium, Bobby Dodd fell silent.
4) While casual talking to my girlfriend, who goes to Tech, about how we never run the ball and I’m really impressed with Bobo for switching up out offense I got multiple “Why don’t you just leave” “Your not welcome here” “Football isn’t everything at this school, unlike yours”
I know Tech doesn’t have another big rival, and you are all very upset that UGA has moved to more important rivals, Florida and Auburn, but don’t even try to pretend you can stomach a lose to us.

Tony, according to YOUR picks, the sec will have lost the season series with the ACC by losing 4 out of 7. This is the second year in a row (last year was 6 out of 10 for the ACC over the sec in the regular season).
Also, when TECH stomps ugag, TECH will undefeated in the sec this year with a 3-0 record!!
Why don’t you just come out and admit that this bullshiiiite about sec superiority is a MYTH!!!
The sec is the weakest that I have ever seen it in my lifetime…the sec has two decent teams and 10 patsies.
If we had a real playoff with 16 teams, the sec would be exposed for the hyped up weak sister that it really is.
But I hope you all enjoy Saturday nights ANNUAL STOMPING OF THE DAWGS!!!!

My Guess is the Chick-fil-a will take UGA for ticket sales and Miami for TV ratings.
This is a win-win match up for them.
UGA guarantees a sellout, and a match up against Miami means great ratings

Nesbitt was out for two series. That was not the difference in the game. If you think otherwise you are either ignorant or very naive. Our OL opened holes big enough for my 70yr old grandma to run thru. And run they did. Over 350 yards rushing. THAT is the main reason why you lost.
And stop perpetuating this lie about UGA rolling Nesbitt’s ankle. Read the AJC article where JN said his leg got caught under another player. Do you see him whining that some UGA player deliberately rolled his ankle? Thankfully he’s mature enough to tell the truth.
GT got taken to the wood shed and exposed. So take your loss like big boys and girls. The world knows the ACC is weak so you can quit masquerading like a powerhouse that you’re not. The gig is up, the planets have re-aligned and UGA rules the state.

It will always be the “Peach Bowl” to those of us that have lived in Atlanta for all of these years! The Chick-fil-A folks would be crazy (if Clemson loses to Tech) to not match up UGA vs Clemson in Atlanta. HUGE money maker with all of the alums in the city from both sides and another chapter in a storied rivalry!

Would tech fans really want another SEC team that has a month to prepare for them again? Gimmick offenses will not work in a bowl system, that is why PJ supports a playoff system, any time GT gets in a bowl game with a team that has the athletes, and time to prepare they will lose.
Nice, GT, you are stuck with him until 2015.

I would LOVE a Chik Peach Filet Bowl matchup with North Carolina, Miami or Boston College. UNC and Miami would be flat AWESOME for tradition’s sake. BC because UGA owes them a beat down. If these don’t work, then maybe Clemson or Va Tech despite the fact both could very easily beat UGA. Just an opinion as a realist. Miami would probably beat UGA as well. Guess we will find out.

I love and respect the tradition of the Peach Bowl as much as anyone else but, damn, those chick-fil-a sandwiches are delicious. Plus that Truett Cathy is a fine fellow and the bowl gives out more $$$ than any other non-bcs bowl, so I’ll call it the Chick-fil-a bowl. You other gentleman are welcome to call it the Peach bowl. Dadgummit Tech was the class of the acc this year, they are quite capable of beating the snot out of just about anyone …….that is except for the GEEEORRRGIA BULLDOGS. Me I am in favor in playing in the Peach, good bowl , kids will have fun and after all, we will fill the place up . Yeah I see it now : UGA v Clemson, now that would be a cool game son……A little side note : I played in the real original Peach Bowl at chastain park when I was a member of the undefeated world champion 1967 Buckhead Red Devils, after that game we went west to Gretna Louisiana to play for the championship won it 49- 0 it was a cold night!!! any of my old teamates out there? like to hear from you …… and by the way GO DOGS!!!!!!

About those rings commemorating one GT victory in 8 years, Lewis Grizzard would probably say, “Damn Brother, I don’t think I’d told that.” Another thing, who came up with that banana yellow color? With all the pastel smudged around and people jumping up and down to strange music. Very unusual.

To all the Tech fans who keep saying the hit (which was just a tackle) of Nesbitt was “Dirty” Please go to your Tivo’s or DVR’s or whatever hi tech equipment you have and please watch the hit on Bryan Evans #3 of UGA that sent him to the sideline with a concussion. That was a Low Rent “Dirty” hit.
With that said as a UGA fan it did not break my heart to see Bryan Evans on the sideline instead of on the field, but I would not wish him to be seriously injured to end up there.

Tech is providing a stimulus package for carpenters across the state. Because someone is going to have to nail back all of the baseboards that are being pushed up by the tech fans scurrying back into the wood work. Something tells me that over the next few weeks Paul Johnson may have a different opinion on how important this game is.

Looks like the whole nation knows uga won by some fluke. Nesbitt gets hurt on the second series and sits out a quarter. Comes back limps the whole game never attempts to run so now we have a double option and we still have the ball with a chance to win in the fourth quarter. Uga played their best game of the year and we played our worst game and you barely won. We went from 7th to 10th in BCS the game meant nothing we are still a top ten team in the bcs playing for our championship. Hey Dawg fans what time is your game next week? Dont worry I will wait.

chick-fil-A sounds like the logical option. If I’m the selection committee, I’m looking at the ACC championship game. If clemson loses, i’d invite them to play UGA and it would sell out in seconds. Great match up to two close teams who don’t regularly play each other. Nice ESPN tv audience too.
