From Shreveport, La., to Northside Drive? According to Chris Lowe of ESPN.com, Georgia is apt to be invited to the Chick-fil-A Bowl, which if memory serves is played here in Atlanta. (Full disclosure: I’m sitting in the Dome as I type.) Here’s Lowe’s rationale:
“The Outback gets first choice out of the [non-BCS SEC teams] East and the Cotton first choice out of the West after the Capital One selects. But since Ole Miss went to the Cotton Bowl last year, there may be a deal worked out where the Rebels go to the Outback this year and Tennessee to the Cotton. The Vols finished in a tie with Georgia for second place in the East, but beat the Bulldogs head-to-head.
“The Chick-fil-A Bowl also has a tough choice. South Carolina became a lot more attractive with its win over Clemson. But with Georgia beating Georgia Tech, there will be a lot of pressure to keep the Bulldogs close to home there in Atlanta. Plus, Georgia beat South Carolina head-to-head and finished a game better than the Gamecocks in the SEC standings.”
Me, I’m not so sure. I think there’s a chance Georgia ends up in Nashville. But there are so many 7-5 SEC teams — six, if you’re counting, four of them from the Eastern Division — that these middle-tier bowls could wind up drawing names out of a hat.

UGA is a lock for the chic fil a bowl to play Miami or VaTech. GT will fall all the way to the champs sports bowl if they lose the ACCCG. If Tech loses, Clemson to Orange, VaTech to Gator, and Miami to the chic to face the dawgs. Mark Bradley do you think GT would fall to the champs sports bowl if they lose theACCCG? That would be sweet if they had to go to a lower bowl than UGA. The chic fil a doesn’t want GT back this year.

I have been thinking Dawgs vs. Canes in the Chick Fil-A myself. Two big time programs that are both geographically close to sell tickets. Plus it can be the “Who beat Tech Bowl”

Dwyer held to 33 yrds by UGA, with the D team led by CWM and we Dog grads know that on D, UGA is a joke. Once he ( WM ) gets outta here ( Athens ) and UGA hires a REAL D COORDINATOR, it will be buusiness as usual and the Beat downs will continue. I will guarantee you techers that CPJ will be looking to bolt Atlanta within 2 more years. HAHAHHA What a joke. A passing attack??? UGA pass D is horrible and he could not score or COMPLETE A PASS to WIN.HAHAHAH
FYI …………… If Vance Cuff # 25 ( UGA CB 3rd stringer ) makes the hit on the sideline, then that game ends on a worse note ……….remember that. Missed easy, easy hhit and you lose one more score. It did not matter ,as Caleb King came right back and broke your noses. HAHAHHAHAHHA
UGA class of 71 & 73

The thing is, Georgia is only going to get better. I honestly don’t care which bowl we go to. Just want 8 Ws to carry into the off season. Keep up the work, dawgs!
As for Tech, as much as we must dish it out to the likes of St. Simons, Tech played a hard fought game, and if any of you say you weren’t sweatin’ and frettin’ in those closing minutes, you are a liar. Tech and Johnson deserve some credit. It was a good game. I wish all the players well and all the injured a speedy recovery. I also hope Tech does well in their ACC champ and bowl appearance.

However, on this night, they were physically superior and, at times, dominant, shoving Tech around its own field. On this night, Georgia adopted the personality of Georgia Tech, blowing open huge holes for Washaun Ealey and Caleb King, en route to a season-high 339 yards on the ground. Had Mark Richt known he’d get that long-awaited breakout effort from his kids, he’d have tried to get Tech on the schedule twice in 2009.

Man that was easy!!! If I could play these bums every game I would be a great DC and get to keep my job. Oh well, maybe I can work for Tech cause their D sucks, even BoBo can coach against it.

The Yellow Jackets might still go on to win a conference championship and play in a BCS bowl game, but as legitimate national powerhouses go, they just don’t measure up, especially on defense. It was a bad night for Tech and a horrible day all around for the ACC.

Georgia and South Carolina are middle or lower middle sec teams, last nights results are an indication of just how pathetic the ACC really is. Even if you win your conference you have accomplished nothing. I doubt it will even be a sell out. The National Championship will be played in Atlanta this Saturday. Too bad the teams will not have time to become totally rested and healthy to put on the show they are capabile of.

Georgia legitimately beat up the Rambling Wreck to complete one of the more satisfying wins in the Mark Richt era. The word “fluke” can’t be applied to a contest in which one team runs for 338 yards; after all, that’s what Georgia Tech is supposed to do to its opponents, not the other way around.

The only thing funnier than the Tech fan comments here was the number of Tech defensive players laying flat on their backs after each Georgia running play. Tech’s defense was gashed all night long – while Dwyer and Nesbitt were held to less than 80 yards total. Prior to last night, UGA had ONE back with a 100 yard rushing night all year. Last night we had two in one game. That alone speaks volumes. I thought Tech would make adjustments at half time. They didn’t. First snap of the second half for UGA goes for a 75 yard TD.
Mostly this puts to rest the whole “football is changed in this state” thing. WE RUN THIS STATE. The Tech streak ends at ONE game.

Brotha Jackets,
I’m reading that y’all have been suffering from a big hangover since the Dawgs bludgeoned your football team last night. Might I recommend a little Hair of the Dawg? This what the Bulldog Nation has been drinking on Sunday mornings the past few years. See, the Preacha Man Markt Wreck and his Medicine Show of Willie and Bozo distribute a fine tasting concoction of Koolaid that suspends disbelief. It’s addictive, and Preacha Man knows that he will continue to get his $3M per year as long as the Bulldawg Nations remains–as he calls it–”transalyzed.” So I recommend that you try this Koolaid too as your headache will go away and you will want to extend Paul Johnson’s salary and contract big time so he won’t bolt to Notre Dame! I know UGA may dance on the field when a rap song is played to get pumped up, but at least we do not play the videos of the players jumping around the Soulja Boy. That was rediciulous. It looked like the Ghetto of ATL was dancing to all the way turned up on the big screen.

what is so laughable is that UGA and Clemson love each other now, you both use to despise each other in the glory days but both schools too scared to play each other since 1991. That is pitiful since your both exactly alike.

The GT defense will get better and when it does look out! CPJ said he called the pass plays at the end of the game because of so little time remaining. I am sure glad he did and that the ball was dropped on the fourth attempt. I was very concerned that GT would keep running the ball and would score with very little time remaining, but all was good for UGA. GT is a very good team and will keep getting better. The rivalry game is back to where it used to be. Good luck to GT in the championship game Saturday.

As a Dawg fan of old you had to enjoy that game because it was a throwback to the good ole days. Good physical, hard nosed football and the best team won. UGA was better than most of the teams we lost to this year but our game planning didn’t support our personnel. Kudos to Richt and Bobo for the offensive game plan, I wish we could have had more of this philosophy during the Richt era. As I’ve said before you win big games in the trenches, last night we dominated there. Good Dawgs, enjoy your bowl wherever it may be, there’s no pressure this year. How bout ole Russ?
