Live from the Joke by Coke, and the Evil Genius = hope

Understand: In my entire life, I have never thought of Bobby Dodd Stadium as the Joke by Coke, but seeing as how I’m tasked with chatting live tonight from a Georgia perspective I thought I’d get in the spirit. But that, I should report, is where it ends. No cracks about John DUI-berry. Or Reggie Ball. (Well, maybe only one or two.) Everything else will be straight down the middle. Fair and balanced, as we say here at Fox News.

And we at Fox News have learned that the Ol’ Ball Coach doubled the score on young Dabo of Swinney, which has the effect of doing two things near and dear to Georgia fans’ hearts. First, it devalues the ACC title game, in which the North Avenue Trade School — sorry, couldn’t t resist just one more — will take part, and it also offers further proof that the ACC isn’t exactly a fortress of a league.

South Carolina entered having lost five of 11 games, same as Georgia. South Carolina had lost to Georgia by four points on Sept. 12, two days after Georgia Tech beat Clemson by three. So comparative scores were pretty close. (Not that comparative scores tell us much, but hear me out.) And today the Evil Genius whipped his in-state rival 34-17.

Can it happen in another state championship game? Honesty compels me to say I don’t think so, but I’ve been wrong about this game twice in the past three years. I figured Tech would handle Georgia in 2006 given that the Jackets were ranked and headed for the ACC title tilt — sound familiar — and the Bulldogs had needed an upset of Auburn just to get to 7-4. And I figured Georgia would still be too much for the Jackets were — for a half. Then things changed.

I see Georgia scoring some points on Tech. I see Tech scoring a lot more on Georgia. I’ve been saying 42-27 for two weeks, and yesterday I asked you kind folks for your thoughts on the matter. At last check, the semi-consensus among respondents was that the Jackets would win big or Georgia would win close. I’d bet on the latter if I bet. Which I do not. So feel free to disregard my gambling advice.

Please also feel free to join us as we discuss the game from a Georgia angle tonight. I’ll be here until it ends, which I figure will be at 11:29 p.m. EST. And it had better be. My print deadline is 11:30. But that’s problem, not yours. And I look forward to your company on what promises to be an intriguing night.

Are ;we now supposed to go to the Orange Bowl as ACC champs? USCe beat Clemson, UGA beat GIT and also USCe. Does that make us the ACC champs?

Seriously, though, it sure seems that the first step in “righting” the ship has happened. The leaks aren’t plugged yet, but the bilge pumps appear to be working!

Go DAWGS!!

Can you say total domination? I have never seen a school like tech have so much envy and jealousy to have a sports program like GEORGIA! You will have to admit that GEORGIA has the best atheletes and always will. I hope the nerds that were saying that we might as well not show up will go back into the woodwork for another 365 days. 30-24 is so sweet!

Everyone gets a cupcake, true. But in November? And your amazing SEC cousins play a bunch of cupcakes! So I’m tired of the whole SEC is so tough thing. FL plays 3 cupcakes!!!! Absurd. At some point it should be a penalty in rankings to play cupcakes.

So, are you saying that Georgia should drop GT from their schedule?

Dwyer for Heisman?? How many yards did he have? UGA out rushes CPJs genius offensive scheme…. humm…. Without Bay Bay the score would have been a lot worse. Clemson will roll and Tech will roll over and play dead in their non BCS bowl game. The dream is over. Tech is still Tech and nothing will EVER change that. CPJ will be gone in a couple of years because he can’t compete at the highest level at Tech. But it doesn’t matter if he stays or goes. Last year was a fluke but it was actually good for us. A nice wake up call.

Good news… Tech is as good as they are going to get….
Bad News…. UGA is gonna be a lot better next year and it’s in Athens.

There is a new sheriff in town and his name is Mark Richt… Glad it hurts so bad and it is only a continuation of the way it has always been

Mark, referencing our stadium as “Joke at Coke,” as the UGAGers do, was a cheap shot. I’ve respected you, win or lose, in the past, but this is beneath you, and you can’t exchange it with the excuse you offered of “no more low blows.” Your stock dropped in my eyes, very disappointed in you.

I don’t know or give a damn for Mark Bradley but he is telling the truth whether it sounds good or not. Grant Field is a joke it is an old outdated 55k seat relic of the past. Bobby Dodd is gone and it should be too. Take some of the engineers you have on North Ave. and build a new modern state of the art stadium and not in a ghetto. That’s what you have to have now days to attract top recruits. Mark also make another valit point. The two top ACC schools got manhandled by two mediocer teams from the SEC. Combine the two and Tech will have another recruiting class in the twenties just as always.

BTW, Mark Richt jsut showed the rest of the world how to stop Tech’s offense. But two men man to man on Dwyer and shut him down. There is not enough left in Tech’s arsenal to win. Clemson is watching the film as we type.

Whats amazing is that for some reason all the people that had GT crap on their car last week are suddenly clean of any reminder.

Just remember GT fans, you will always be known as UGA’s little whiny brat of a brother, now your bandwagon is a lot lighter for the rest of the year, maybe if you win next week a few people will jump back on.
