The ideal Christmas gift for a Dawg fan? Not this. (Photo by M. Bradley)
Understand: In my entire life, I have never thought of Bobby Dodd Stadium as the Joke by Coke, but seeing as how I’m tasked with chatting live tonight from a Georgia perspective I thought I’d get in the spirit. But that, I should report, is where it ends. No cracks about John DUI-berry. Or Reggie Ball. (Well, maybe only one or two.) Everything else will be straight down the middle. Fair and balanced, as we say here at Fox News.
And we at Fox News have learned that the Ol’ Ball Coach doubled the score on young Dabo of Swinney, which has the effect of doing two things near and dear to Georgia fans’ hearts. First, it devalues the ACC title game, in which the North Avenue Trade School — sorry, couldn’t t resist just one more — will take part, and it also offers further proof that the ACC isn’t exactly a fortress of a league.
South Carolina entered having lost five of 11 games, same as Georgia. South Carolina had lost to Georgia by four points on Sept. 12, two days after Georgia Tech beat Clemson by three. So comparative scores were pretty close. (Not that comparative scores tell us much, but hear me out.) And today the Evil Genius whipped his in-state rival 34-17.
Can it happen in another state championship game? Honesty compels me to say I don’t think so, but I’ve been wrong about this game twice in the past three years. I figured Tech would handle Georgia in 2006 given that the Jackets were ranked and headed for the ACC title tilt — sound familiar — and the Bulldogs had needed an upset of Auburn just to get to 7-4. And I figured Georgia would still be too much for the Jackets were — for a half. Then things changed.
I see Georgia scoring some points on Tech. I see Tech scoring a lot more on Georgia. I’ve been saying 42-27 for two weeks, and yesterday I asked you kind folks for your thoughts on the matter. At last check, the semi-consensus among respondents was that the Jackets would win big or Georgia would win close. I’d bet on the latter if I bet. Which I do not. So feel free to disregard my gambling advice.
Please also feel free to join us as we discuss the game from a Georgia angle tonight. I’ll be here until it ends, which I figure will be at 11:29 p.m. EST. And it had better be. My print deadline is 11:30. But that’s problem, not yours. And I look forward to your company on what promises to be an intriguing night.

Hats off to UGA. I said earlier that this would be a close game and could go either way. Can’t blame injuries because Ga was without Greene and Rambo. Just was to strong in the running game tonight. Hope we can improve our defense so the games will continue to be competitive in the coming years. Oh well only 364 days of abuse left until next year’s game.

Recruiting is a lost cause. Why would any 4 or 5 star recruit want to play in the ACC much less this joke we call an offense.

If there are any Jacket fans hanging around for your punishment, can you please explain the play-calling at the end of the game from your genius head coach? Throwing bombs with plenty of time on the clock? Face it, Richt is 8-1 vs. Tech for a reason.

Today’s results:
SEC 3 ACC 0
UGA beat the number 7 team in the BCS by absolutely dominating on the line of scrimage. We ran over Tech, we ran around Tech and we ran thru Tech. They had no answer for guys who were bigger and stronger.
This is the tri-fecta:
1. We restored order by beating Tech.
2. Willie Martinez has just coached his last regular season game as DC.
3. Russ is 1-0!

OK, no need to get excited on either side. UGA has great young skill players but no new QB and the whole DL is going to the NFL. Tech will get better as it adds to their system, unfortunately it just doesn’t work here. Paul Johnson, there is a reason your offense has gone flat lately: This is D1 football!!!

I am channeling my inner Denny Green to say that the Jackets are
WHO WE THOUGHT THEY WERE! Let them collect their trophies fron
the AJC since Schultz and Bradley were all too willing to crown their
sorry arses. Let this be a lesson for every so called Dawg fan
who predicted we would get blown out. We are Georgia, they are Tech..
That should be all that is needed to be said. Go Dawgs!!!

The better athletes won, like they usually do. Most Tech fans (true Tech fans, not bandwagoneers), know they lose to UGA because UGA has better athletes. UGA is bigger, stronger, & faster. It showed tonight. Some poor play calling kept GT in it, and Willie’s lack of ability to adjust kept it interesting, but UGA was obviously the superior team…in a down year to Tech’s overachieving year. Tech fans knew this was coming, they feared it, and wouldn’t admit it. I said it before, and pissed off a bunch of Tech fans, but UGA is better. Tech players grow up wanting to play at UGA; they just aren’t good enough. It’s true that the occasional recruit slips in, but UGA doesn’t lose the recruiting wars to Tech. They have to play UGA with the handicap of inferior talent; they always will. That is the reason Tech hates UGA; they have an inferiority complex because they are (in fact) inferior.
Good luck in the ACCCG, but remember that whatever poor treatment you get from UGA fans this year, you brought on yourselves. You’ve got to learn to respect your superiors, even when you eek out an occasional win, or they will make you pay for it in spades. Too many Tech fans were awful over the last year. They will cause a heavy-handed response from the UGA fan-base this year. You get what you give and then some.
It’s great to be a Georgia Bulldog.

Kudos to UGA for winning by sticking to a simple strategy: Running up the middle works, their defense isn’t adapting to it, keep pounding away. After two seasons of loving the offense and hating the defense, I think I share similar sentiments as most of doggie nation. Junk the Def. Coord. and get someone with a clue. In the end, this should be a much more interesting era of ballgames now that the lifelessness of Chan Gailey is over and gone. Regardless of asinine comments, CPJ is still a solid, proven coach with a record to back it up. People can make remarks all they want, but sitting on a 10-2 record and playing for a conference championship is more than most can boast about. Glad to see CMJ has some in-state competition once again. Enjoy your win while it lasts, doggies. We’ll see you next year in your house.

It was a tough game to lose. The whole stadium was electric tonight. Ga just played 4 Quarters and Tech only got 2. I could not find any Tech radio on the way back to Toccoa, Dan Radokovich needs to improve this situation immediately. So I listened in tothe dogs radio, and just like clock work, even the announcers were making very disparging remarks as most of the Red Necks do. Im salute the dogs, they got the better of us tonight but be civil if you can find a way to do so. Remember what goes aroung comes around. One game is not going to throw cold water on a great season, 10-2 still trumps 7-5 don’t you think?? CPJ is even up agter 2 seasons and a great improvement over previous teams. I do hope coach can get a defensive co=ordinator be next year. It is awful hard to score more than the opponent when they are putting 30 plus on the board. Go Jackets beat Clemson next week.

How ’bout them Dawgs!!! And what a great ending, guaranteed to be a bitter pill for Tech fans (mainly the losers like m, St. Simons, and Yellow Fuzz) to swallow. They won’t get over this one for years. Their “brilliant” coach self-destructs by abandoning his successful running game and then their best receiver drops the ball to end the game. Just fantastic!

You nerds actually believed the AJC’s garbage about how GT was now the dominant program in the state….if UGA had the luxury of playing in the ACC we would be 10-1 as well….last year was a fluke…if Richard Samuel does not fumble a kickoff then last night would have been NINE (9) in a row!!!!!
