Understand: In my entire life, I have never thought of Bobby Dodd Stadium as the Joke by Coke, but seeing as how I’m tasked with chatting live tonight from a Georgia perspective I thought I’d get in the spirit. But that, I should report, is where it ends. No cracks about John DUI-berry. Or Reggie Ball. (Well, maybe only one or two.) Everything else will be straight down the middle. Fair and balanced, as we say here at Fox News.
And we at Fox News have learned that the Ol’ Ball Coach doubled the score on young Dabo of Swinney, which has the effect of doing two things near and dear to Georgia fans’ hearts. First, it devalues the ACC title game, in which the North Avenue Trade School — sorry, couldn’t t resist just one more — will take part, and it also offers further proof that the ACC isn’t exactly a fortress of a league.
South Carolina entered having lost five of 11 games, same as Georgia. South Carolina had lost to Georgia by four points on Sept. 12, two days after Georgia Tech beat Clemson by three. So comparative scores were pretty close. (Not that comparative scores tell us much, but hear me out.) And today the Evil Genius whipped his in-state rival 34-17.
Can it happen in another state championship game? Honesty compels me to say I don’t think so, but I’ve been wrong about this game twice in the past three years. I figured Tech would handle Georgia in 2006 given that the Jackets were ranked and headed for the ACC title tilt — sound familiar — and the Bulldogs had needed an upset of Auburn just to get to 7-4. And I figured Georgia would still be too much for the Jackets were — for a half. Then things changed.
I see Georgia scoring some points on Tech. I see Tech scoring a lot more on Georgia. I’ve been saying 42-27 for two weeks, and yesterday I asked you kind folks for your thoughts on the matter. At last check, the semi-consensus among respondents was that the Jackets would win big or Georgia would win close. I’d bet on the latter if I bet. Which I do not. So feel free to disregard my gambling advice.
Please also feel free to join us as we discuss the game from a Georgia angle tonight. I’ll be here until it ends, which I figure will be at 11:29 p.m. EST. And it had better be. My print deadline is 11:30. But that’s problem, not yours. And I look forward to your company on what promises to be an intriguing night.

Saint Simons – this ones for you 30-24 ha ha ha, the acc was exposed today the 2 teams playing for the championship got beat at home by 6-5 teams ha ha ha. Mark you have been on Richt all year about coaching how did you like Paul Johnson’s today? God bless an Go Ga Dawgs

400+/- yards rushing!!! That’s domination. ACC is still 2nd rate. Sorry to ruin your championship game in Jax. Clemson and GT are not in the same league as UGA and SC.

Well, it looks like all the “IF”’s worked out.
Georgia ran the ball EXTREMELY well, Ealey AND King averaged 9.2 ypc, Ealey FINALLY got 20 touches, and ran for 183 yards. King looked strong on the big burst play, had a fumble, made up for it with the big run and the 166 yards.
Cox had a nice game–130 passer rating, no turnovers.
Bobo called an excellent 1st half, he almost let them come back with all those pass plays in the 2nd half, and the poor 2nd half red zone execution, but it it worked out.
Willie didn’t give up a 100 yard rusher again, no one went over 50 yars. Willie’s D got 2 turnovers, a fumble, we got a lead and forced them to pass, which Tech can’t do, and then we got a 2nd turnover. Willie dared them to beat us passing, and they couldn’t do it.
Richt shouldn’t have gone for the 55 yard field goal, I’d like to have seen a zone run or fake field goal. That call ALMOST cost us the game.
Tech was exposed for being a 1 trick pony offense and having imbalance.
We also controlled clock well, especially 1st half.

NEWS FLASH: The ACC championship game will be played in Tampa next week between UGA and USC. Tech and Clemson will play in Shreveport for the consulation game.

Mark, I want to hear some more about Paul Johnson being a better coach than Mark Richt. He just took Johnson to the woodshed, and beat him at his own game. I realize there are still plenty of problems to solve at UGA, but this was a head to head meeting. This was the most accurate assessment of their respective coaching abilities.Richt came out the victor.

In all seriousness. Let us look at the big picture. The AJC and local media have gone crazy with their love fest over Tech. They have berated the Dogs all year long. MB and Schultz know nothing about sports and have spewed venom over our Dogs all year long. The great Paul Johnson got outocached. The UGA offensive line dominated the game. My grandmother could have run thru some of the holes. UGA has it worst team in a decade and still can beat Tech in their own back yard. As Dawg fans we have been abused for a year by Tech fans and the press. Payback is hell. M, RambleOn and St. Simons you have yet to see anything. This next year is going to living hell. I urge every UGA fan to write on every blog of the AJC and lets give these Nerds the hell they deserve.
