Live from the Joke by Coke, and the Evil Genius = hope

The ideal Christmas for a Dawg fan? Here you go. (Photo by M. Bradley)

The ideal Christmas gift for a Dawg fan? Not this. (Photo by M. Bradley)

Understand: In my entire life, I have never thought of Bobby Dodd Stadium as the Joke by Coke, but seeing as how I’m tasked with chatting live tonight from a Georgia perspective I thought I’d get in the spirit. But that, I should report, is where it ends. No cracks about John DUI-berry. Or Reggie Ball. (Well, maybe only one or two.) Everything else will be straight down the middle. Fair and balanced, as we say here at Fox News.

And we at Fox News have learned that the Ol’ Ball Coach doubled the score on young Dabo of Swinney, which has the effect of doing two things near and dear to Georgia fans’ hearts. First, it devalues the ACC title game, in which the North Avenue Trade School — sorry, couldn’t t resist just one more — will take part, and it also offers further proof that the ACC isn’t exactly a fortress of a league.

South Carolina entered having lost five of 11 games, same as Georgia. South Carolina had lost to Georgia by four points on Sept. 12, two days after Georgia Tech beat Clemson by three. So comparative scores were pretty close. (Not that comparative scores tell us much, but hear me out.) And today the Evil Genius whipped his in-state rival 34-17.

Can it happen in another state championship game? Honesty compels me to say I don’t think so, but I’ve been wrong about this game twice in the past three years. I figured Tech would handle Georgia in 2006 given that the Jackets were ranked and headed for the ACC title tilt — sound familiar — and the Bulldogs had needed an upset of Auburn just to get to 7-4. And I figured Georgia would still be too much for the Jackets were — for a half. Then things changed.

I see Georgia scoring some points on Tech. I see Tech scoring a lot more on Georgia. I’ve been saying 42-27 for two weeks, and yesterday I asked you kind folks for your thoughts on the matter. At last check, the semi-consensus among respondents was that the Jackets would win big or Georgia would win close. I’d bet on the latter if I bet. Which I do not. So feel free to disregard my gambling advice.

Please also feel free to join us as we discuss the game from a Georgia angle tonight. I’ll be here until it ends, which I figure will be at 11:29 p.m. EST. And it had better be. My print deadline is 11:30. But that’s problem, not yours. And I look forward to your company on what promises to be an intriguing night.

Ramble On, S. Simons and m,
Where is the new sheriff now? CPJ did a great job with his week off, didn’t he? Bow to the king, boys. We own football in the State of Georgia and GTU is back to being the joke that it always has been. BTW, nice league you guys have. Give your defense some credit. They were run slap over by two 100 yard rushers.

Glad that Keith Brooking and Tashard Choice got to watch this game live. They have never beaten Georgia and cannot even watch it happen live. LOSERS!!!!!!!

My prayer is for GT to win the ACC Chimpionship and play ALABAMA. Then the ACC will truly feel the might of the SEC.

I can’t believe we just lost to a pitiful GA team….CPJ needs to go, and we need a coach who will run an offense to attract all positions, not just running back.

So mark still think paul Johnson is the best play caller
ever? Four straight pass plays from a running team. About
the worst sequence of play calling I’ve ever seen.

How sweet it is to have order in the universe again.

Terrific game, Tech can hold their heads high after a great effort and we can smile as we wave “bye-bye” to Willie and Fabris.

Ok, let me get this straight….

Tech has 2 weeks off to prepare to play UGA…UGA comes off a HUMILIATING defeat against the boys in Blue. We have less than a week to prepare for this Paul Johnson running smorgesborg. Gotcha. PREVIEW: We should get our arses handed to us.

Then, we run the ball and run the ball unlike anything we’ve done all year. WHERE THE HECK DID THIS COME FROM? Ok, yes, Tech’s D is suspect, but still….come on’

GO DAWGS!!! CONGRATS!!! This doesn’t salvage the season, but it sure helps to beat those Jackets!

Before somebody says, “If our great receiver hadn’t dropped the ball…”, remember that our great kicker hooked the field goal, which would have put the game out of reach.

It was a great game, and Tech should be commended for fighting back. I was a nervous wrech until the end. A great game for our offensive line and running backs- Ealey, King, and Chapas. What a blocking machine Chapas was.

11:39 pm

tech played hard, but CMR had our team ready for the BIG rivalry, where CPJ did not. tech thought they had us signed, sealed, and delivered this year. CPJ hasn’t been in the big dawg league long enough to know that records and stats go out the window—comes down to emotion and georgia wanted it more.
good luck against clemson next week, TECH. hope you STOMP them in the ground.

Georgia’s fixing to fall?
But speaking just for me
and some people from AJC,
we got a thing or two to tell you all.
This Dawg may have stumbled
but he ain’t never fell.
And if the Techie don’t believe that
they can all go straight to hell.
We’re gonna put UGA on its feet
on the path of the another streak
and then God blessGeorgia again.

And you never did think that it ever would happen again.
In Georgia, did you?
You never did think that we’d ever get together again.
Well we damn sure fooled you.
We’re walking real proud and we’re talking real loud again
In Georgia.
You never did think that it ever would happen again.

And we may have done a little bit of fighting amongst ourselves,
but you outside people best leave us alone.
Cause we’ll all stick together
and you can take that to the bank.
That’s the Gators and the Jackets and the rebels and the yanks.
You just go and lay your hand on a Georgia Bulldog fan
and I think you’re gonna finally understand.

And you never did think that it ever would happen again.
In Georgia, did you?
You never did think that we’d ever get together again.
Well we damn sure fooled you.
We’re walking real proud and we’re talking real loud again
In Georgia.
You never did think that it ever would happen again.

To Mr. Bradley,
Thank you so much for your posts tonight. It is bloggers like you that motivate the UGA Players, Coaches and Fans to prove you wrong and make you sit back and admit your wrong prediction. So, I can’t thank you enough!! I still love your blogs, but I must wait until Baseball season to read your next blogs. It seams that the Braves are the only thing we can agree on! :)

(Great game, Dawg fans. I don’t think the Music City Bowl has ever sounded so sweet to me… we lost last year when we shouldn’t have to a team that hadn’t beaten us since 2000 and had only won 4 times since 1990; the way I see it, order was restored tonight!! Go Dawgs!)
