The ideal Christmas gift for a Dawg fan? Not this. (Photo by M. Bradley)
Understand: In my entire life, I have never thought of Bobby Dodd Stadium as the Joke by Coke, but seeing as how I’m tasked with chatting live tonight from a Georgia perspective I thought I’d get in the spirit. But that, I should report, is where it ends. No cracks about John DUI-berry. Or Reggie Ball. (Well, maybe only one or two.) Everything else will be straight down the middle. Fair and balanced, as we say here at Fox News.
And we at Fox News have learned that the Ol’ Ball Coach doubled the score on young Dabo of Swinney, which has the effect of doing two things near and dear to Georgia fans’ hearts. First, it devalues the ACC title game, in which the North Avenue Trade School — sorry, couldn’t t resist just one more — will take part, and it also offers further proof that the ACC isn’t exactly a fortress of a league.
South Carolina entered having lost five of 11 games, same as Georgia. South Carolina had lost to Georgia by four points on Sept. 12, two days after Georgia Tech beat Clemson by three. So comparative scores were pretty close. (Not that comparative scores tell us much, but hear me out.) And today the Evil Genius whipped his in-state rival 34-17.
Can it happen in another state championship game? Honesty compels me to say I don’t think so, but I’ve been wrong about this game twice in the past three years. I figured Tech would handle Georgia in 2006 given that the Jackets were ranked and headed for the ACC title tilt — sound familiar — and the Bulldogs had needed an upset of Auburn just to get to 7-4. And I figured Georgia would still be too much for the Jackets were — for a half. Then things changed.
I see Georgia scoring some points on Tech. I see Tech scoring a lot more on Georgia. I’ve been saying 42-27 for two weeks, and yesterday I asked you kind folks for your thoughts on the matter. At last check, the semi-consensus among respondents was that the Jackets would win big or Georgia would win close. I’d bet on the latter if I bet. Which I do not. So feel free to disregard my gambling advice.
Please also feel free to join us as we discuss the game from a Georgia angle tonight. I’ll be here until it ends, which I figure will be at 11:29 p.m. EST. And it had better be. My print deadline is 11:30. But that’s problem, not yours. And I look forward to your company on what promises to be an intriguing night.

AHAHAHAHAHAHA! Tech’s best team in decades and they still can’t beat us. The ACC is a joke. Both of the ACC championship teams weren’t even champions of their own respective states.

Love the win, but this is why change is needed. Dominated the 1st half…needed a brain fart and a dropped pass to win the game. …This is why Dawgs are guaranteed to lose at least one to a good SEC team and then lose another to a mediocre team. We HAVE to get that killer instinct to win the SEC again

Weird, the worst UGA team in over a decade just beat the best GT team in over a decade. That’s so weird. According to you and that other idiot Schultz, we shouldn’t have even showed up. Maybe now you 2 can take your nose out of PJ’s butt and give a little due respect to Richt & Co.

Well, who’s to figure. Hats off to the Dawgs. A stunning upset. The overall record ain’t nothing to gloat over but this game will go down in the history of the series as a major stunning upset. This was a character game for UGA. Kudos.

There are some nerds I am seeking out:
m
yellow fuzz
trade school junkie
stinger(who made fun of uga dying)
Also, RAMBLE ON, you can go somewhere and crawl in a hole and take your 56-18 prediction and ram it where the sun don’t shine.
And m, in case you didn’t notice, the SEC went 3-0 today vs the ACC. Also, the ACC only has 7 bowl eligible teams, the SEC has 10.
Saint Simons, make sure you post the score correctly:
30-24
8-1

Keys to the win
Georgia’s running game – offensive line play
Tech turnovers
Tech without Nesbit for a quarter
Deep six this one – Tampa is more important – the trend is in place for Tech to have great success in the future.
Go Jackets!

Kentucky and Tennessee both have records identical to ours, and both beat us, so they finish 2nd and 3rd in the SEC East. This means that the ACC division champions lost to the 4th place ( Georgia ) and 5th place ( South Carolina ) teams in the SEC East.
If last years 45-42 score was a beatdown ( as we heard all year ), is a 6 point win a double-beatdown?
ACC Who?

Congratulations to Coach Richt, his entire staff and the whole team. That was a complete game, well played and well coached. Let’s enjoy this victory and stop being so sarcastic about every thing that happens. If all UGA fans are like the ones on this blog then I am basically embarrassed to be a UGA fan. Nothing is ever good enough, even when we win.

congrats Ga….had a plan and worked it….losing #9 for most of the first half hurt….but the SEC ref’s made good on all their bad calls by not calling blocks to the back, or holding on Ga all night. oh well… on to Tampa…and the Orange Bowl
